We could finally walk in the forest.

The sign that the hunters were out hunting was still there this morning, so we walked the route we’ve walked these last days. I did however get a bit annoyed about it so I texted the hunters and asked them if anyone actually was out there (I knew they weren’t, they have after all only one way to go and that’s by passing my cottage 🙂 So I was allowed to turn the sign so that we could walk in the forest again 🙂

The morning walk was a bit chilly but wind free so it could have been worse. By the time I got an answer from the hunters the clouds mostly had flown away and the sun was shining. So we went down to the creek, followed it up-stream and then went in to the older forest. It is noticeable that very few but me walks there at all. The grass along the creek was really high but so wet that any tick who had tried to stay there would have drowned 🙂

It was really nice to be able to walk there again, I have avoided it since the grass became too high and that place would have been a paradise for ticks. Today we weren’t alone in the forest though, just as we were about to turn in to the old forest a couple of hunters came walking on the castles grounds. They were talking rather loudly though so it was clear they already had stopped looking for animals.

I had a big bowl with rice porridge when we came back home again. We usually use a special kind of rice when making tis porridge but I had forgotten to write it down on my list when I went to the supermarket on Friday. It works with any kind of rice to be honest but since I use the slow cooker I need to do it a bit different. Porridge rice, as we call it, gets soft pretty early on when making the porridge while any other kind needs to be a bit pre boiled for around 10 minutes, otherwise it might not be soft and ready when the porridge is supposed to be.

We’ll have a rather cold night ahead of us here, they predict below 0C (32F) and that usually means it will be even colder than they guess. So I have actually already started a radiator in my bed room. Not so that the room becomes especially warm but enough to keep the icy cold temperatures out of my home. By the way the “new” Japanese baking method seems to be working rather well, the tea cakes were still soft and sort of airy. Next time I’ll try it when I bake a big loaf.

Well it is time for that last cup of tea for the day. I drank way too much way too late yesterday so I woke up at 3:15 am. What comes in must come out. The dogs went back to sleep but I didn’t 🙂 I guess if I just don’t drink too much tea now I’ll most likely sleep for longer tomorrow 🙂

Have a great day!
