Very mixed weather.

So we’ve had a week with very mixed weather, some sunshine, some rain, a bit of hail and we even had thunder two days ago. I helped with moving furnitures in a pre school when the hail started. One little kid came to me and said don’t go outside the run is pouring down and there’s thunder and then he hugged my legs 🙂 (he wasn’t especially tall 🙂 ) I don’t think he is a fan of thunder 🙂 Later that day when I was checking the pool again lots of kids were playing in and around it when it suddenly started to hail again. There were lots of screaming about it and then it went quiet 🙂 All kids had run inside to avoid the ice pellets hitting them 🙂

So I’ve had a busy week and now my legs hurt after all the furniture (and lots of cartons with what felt lime led bars had to be moved from one side of the building to the other 🙂 🙂 🙂 but I’ve had a lot of fun and also got the chance to know my work friends better. We’ve all got a new robot cleaner for the pool and I can honestly say that I doubt I’ll ever think of it fondly 🙂 🙂 🙂 I think it needs some kind of programming we can’t do because it really doesn’t care about what I want it to do when driving it manually 🙂 🙂 It just refused to leave the deepest part of the pool when I tried to make it and it weighs a lot with water in it so I had to drag it up by hand and after that I felt at least twenty years older and my body ached all over 🙂 🙂 I must however say it really does a good job, nothing is left on the bottom of that pool!

We woke up early again today, the dogs and I. The previous days because the Magpies were sitting in the Hungarian lilac making lots of noise all the time. I realised later on that it was because the Monster was walking around beneath their nest. The Monster has now realised that Magpies can be mean and nasty so she usually stays indoors when I go to work, her problem though is that it is now so bright outside almost all day and night long so they do attack her as soon as they see her even if it is in the middle of the night 🙂

We walked down to the creek this morning. I was a bit worried about the ticks but the grass is so wet that the ticks stayed elsewhere. If they had stayed in the high grass the risk of drowning would be just too big for them. So I didn’t find a single one on any of the dogs. Not a lot of forest flies flying around either but the temperature was a bit low for them, it was barely above 10C (50F) so that can have been a factor in not noticing especially many. Then again yesterday might have killed of a few because it want down to 1C (33,8F) during the night and that was here where it usually is a bit warmer than in the forest. So I think I now safely can say that the risk of having any more frost nights is over. The latest I’ve ever had here was actually June 12 a couple of years ago.

No need for watering anything outdoors today, it has rained a lot and we’ll get more in just a few hours and lots of the coming days as well they’re guessing. I’ll take a closer check inside the greenhouse later on but since it hasn’t been especially warm and I did water there yesterday I think I can skip it there too. The Pack Chois that I planted in pots are growing nicely but are now giving flower stalks.Well they are quite tasty when frying them so I think I’ll cut them off today and have them for dinner. I guess You know that all parts of the different cabbages are edible? Like the stalk and leafs on Broccoli? Just cut the stalk in thin slices and fry them, it’s delicious 🙂

I guess it is time for me to make a pot of tea and perhaps have a sandwich or two at the same time. I’ll also boil some potatoes so I can fry them in the pan later today for dinner, I’ll have those Pack Choi flower stalks at the same time 🙂

Have a great day!

Things look good and green in your part of the world! Here we are going to have a real heat wave, so I worry a bit about the new bean seedlings and the squash in the community garden. But they did come up! And the leaves were nice and green, so hurray! And the second leaves are coming too. Lots of soil amendment! I hope by next year it will have earthworms again.

I aam sorry that your pool robot is giving you grief. Did the instructions for programming it get lost? When I was working, sometimes people would set up equipment and throw everything away, packaging, instructions receipts, everything needed for follow up. 🙄😞

Anyhow, out to make sure the heat isn’t killing my lettuce!

      Hi Carol!

It does. Now we finally have gotten enough rain but today the temperature barely pass 15C (59F). We might get it a bit hot next Saturday but until then it’ll mostly stay close to 20C (68F) or just above. So no risk of the beens getting too hot, instead I worry about why the beans doesn’t show yet. I’ll hold my thumbs for good luck getting earthworms again 🙂

Well it is new so I guess it’s understandable but it sure is annoying. The instructions says nothing about how to program it at all! We can reach those programs though but no instructions so we’ll have to call for a technician to get it right.

Yes protect that lettuce, they usually don’t like heat at all.

The fourth photo in your post of the red building with the triangle of white latticework on the side, I’m wondering, is that lattice just for decoration, or does it have some use?

Also, that photo near the end of trees against a night sky was quite spectacular. Reminded me of Christmas.
