First of all I want to thank those of You who think my little posts are worth reposting. Thank You 🙂
So I guess today is the day to celebrate Halloween. We don’t notice it here, if the kids would like to celebrate it they would have to go around by car 🙂 Still my neighbours oldest kid is on a halloween party right now and I do hope she has a fun time. Halloween is a growing thing here but back in the days we did the same at easter, dressing up as witches or wizards begging for candy in the neighbourhood. That tradition is barely surviving now days I’m sad to say. Especially now when there are so many of them to dress up like because of the Harry Potter books.

It was foggy in the early morning but it vanished just as we went out on our morning walk, just to return just before we were back home again 🙂 🙂 It has stayed for more or less the entire day, sometimes rather weak so it was barely noticeable but sometimes so thick it was hard to see more than a few meters Few yards, it’s much the same). We had another walk later on when the fog was quite thick again but I didn’t bring any digital camera that time, something I regretted on our way home.

We were walking in the forest when a Raven decided to follow us from above. It landed on the tops of high pines and was making all kinds of sounds like only Ravens can. Every time we had walked a bit it flew and landed on another pine in front of us 🙂 Then suddenly it flew down towards us, landed on a branch showing itself, perhaps 15 meters (much the same in yards) away. I’ve never been so lucky before. They are quite impressive, so big and pitch black and if I had had a digital camera I most likely would have been able to take a photo of it 🙂 After that it flew away again.

In old folklore before christianity arrived Ravens were seen as something positive, They were considered to be very intelligent (which they truly are) and messengers from the good and bringer of good fortune. So be able to come that close as we did today would be considered as very good. Then Christianity arrived and Ravens were considered to be bad omens. People saw how they ate dead animals (and humans after wars) and therefore they must be evil. Bringer of death and misfortune. Just to be able to see one so close must be considered to be very lucky so I agree with the Norse way of seeing them 🙂

I think it is time to have that last cup of tea for the day. I have a sour throat, feel both cold and warm at the same time so I guess I now have a slight cold. I have some honey in the pantry so I’ll have some of that too. I would have liked to have some cookies at home but I don’t and I don’t have enough energy to start baking so I’ll have a bowl with yogurt, sliced apples and granola instead, it’s almost as sweet in taste to pass for a cookie 🙂

Have a great day!
