As soon as the moose hunting season started the weather changed. The temperature dropped rather much, strong winds started to blow and the rain arrived. Not so bad here but other places had torrential showers, areas flooded and roads washed away. Lots of rain and wind here too and it started with a frosty morning, I really don’t like to have to scrape ice from my car but it wasn’t thick and was easily removed.

So we aren’t at the moment able to take walks in the forest because of the hunting but it’ll soon be back to normal, it’s always the three first days that they stay out all day. Then again I’ve only noticed one car passing by so perhaps they’ve already have started to give up. I guess one has to be a really dedicated hunter to want to stay outside in this weather π π I hope that they’ll give up early so that we cane have a later walk even though the dogs would prefer to stay indoors days like this π

I woke up really early today because I drank too much tea yesterday evening and what goes in must come out. So first I went outside to see that Doris the badger wasn’t in the garden, she usually is just after 3 am. After that I let the dogs out in the rain and of course Alma saw Doris outside the fence and started to bark like insane. However rain isn’t something she likes so it was fairly easy to get her back indoors again. I can only hope that if my neighbours did wake up that they quickly fell asleep again π π

This is the time of year when I always have a bucket and a mop ready so I can clean the floors, everything is muddy outside and the dogs and Monster brings it back inside after being outside. Too bad we didn’t get this rain when we needed it as most this summer π The trees are still drinking a lot of water so very little of this will sink down to the ground water, so we still have warnings about very low ground water levels here.

I’ll start hanging up curtains in front of the doors and windows today, the cottage is well over 100 years old and I usually say that the draft from windows and doors are what keeps this cottage healthy π π There’s no chance for it to be so damp that cold ever can start its life here π π A bit annoying during winter though so curtains in several layers do help a lot to make it feel nice on stormy days and nights. Not too much though because I want the potted flowers growing by the windows to get some warmth as well so they don’t freeze to death when winter arrives.

I could have this as a lazy day but I need bread so I’ll have to bake a loaf or two and I might as well just start with some of the laundry as well. I’m pretty sure I’ll have a short nap as well, it’s way too early to wake up at three in the morning. I’ll start with making a pot of tea though π

Have a great day!
