So today we have the elections for a new parliament and also elections for our regions and counties. We always have our elections on the second Sunday in September so we know that as many as possible can go and vote. We can of course pre vote but I don’t think we can send any by mail. This year 3,6 million people had pre voted and were only a country with just over ten million people. I always try to go to the polling station as soon as they open in the morning so I don’t have to wait in a queue to do it.
So all I can do now is to wait and hope for the best. The polling stations will close at eight pm and we’ll get the first hint just seconds after via the polling station surveys. Reality can be very different than those surveys though so it’s best to not take them as a given result 🙂 If the elections is very even between the right and the left we might have to wait until Wednesday to know the result, that’s when the voting results from people living abroad has been counted. The last four years we’ve had a right wing government who depended on the support of our fascist party. If they win this year they’ll let the fascists in and give them real power. I’ve always wondered why they didn’t learn anything about how Hitler came to power. The German leaders back then let them in as well because they thought they could control the nazies, of course they couldn’t. They will not be able to do that now either.
Otherwise it has been a nice day. I did have to do three rounds of laundry though but then again the grass is still so wet that I really couldn’t mow the lawn 🙂 win some lose some 🙂 🙂 I couldn’t hang my laundry outside even though it was 20C (68F) outside, the humidity was up at 100% so the clothes were just as wet after an hour as they were when I put them outside 🙂 🙂
It is time for that last cup of tea for the day. I’ve just had dinner so I think tea will be enough. I’m just as tired today as I was yesterday so I think I can drink an entire pot and still have to go to bed the normal time 🙂 🙂 I’ll check the papers as soon as I wake up tomorrow because I’ll not be awake when an eventual result can be shown.

I hope Sweden is learning from the U.S. and the fascists there get crushed. Our election is November 3, and we hope to take back both houses of Congress so somebody may begin to say No to Trump’s craziness.
Trump has been trying every trick to end vote by mail here. So far, most are not working, but the Supreme Court could easily say, “Sure, this president can make people vote however he wants, or even cancel the election, because he’s a god!” The law means nothing to them anymore.
The other day, I got an official-looking envelope that said it was my “order to order an absentee ballot,” or something. I was a page of questions about voting preferences, and you return it supposedly to the “county registrar” at a PO box. But a PO box could belong to anybody.
At the bottom in fine print it said it wasn’t affiliated with any government agency. So, someone just fishing for voter data, I guess. I imagine a lot of people will fill it out and send it in.
These days, the only way to vote in the U.S. is to go to the polls (either early at certain designated locations or your regular polls on election day) and vote in person. We can’t take any chances with votes Trump’s goons could steal and destroy. Though they may still try to seize voting machines.
Many states don’t count mail-in ballots until election day or later, and those tend to favor Democrats. Trump thinks he’s winning by in-person votes, but then mail-ins get counted and he loses. So, he claims the election was “stolen.” That’s why he wants no mail-in voting, though he votes by mail himself. (But as a convicted felon, there’s question whether his voting is even legal, not that breaking the law matters to him.)
Hope your elections go your way. It always feels better when you vote for the people who win.

Well the election was tighter than I hoped it would be. The happy thing about it is that the fascists party shrunk with almost 3% and the right wing side lost. The problem is that the opposition have put up so many red lines between each other that it’ll be really tricky for them to get a functional government. Politicians are like three year old children unfortunately and it is time for them to grow up!!
I think it would be illegal to do something like that over here, not that anything would happen to anyone doing like that 🙂
I prefer to go to the polls, it has become sort of a tradition 🙂 The republican sure tries to cheat through the elections, don’t they.
Here it’s the same with those pre voting and the votes from swedes abroad. Normally they tend to go to the right wing parties but not this year 🙂
Well isn’t it illegal for convicts in Florida to vote? Should be the same with him but then again You have Your corrupt Supreme Court, they would probably find some odd explanation to why he is allowed. Here it was the prime minister who was very close, if not well over, the border of corruption. He didn’t gain anything but his wife sure did.

Here it is a state by state decision whether felons can vote. Until this year, Virginia was the only state where the governor got to personally pick who got their voting rights back. The last governor was Republican and of course he let very few get restored.
Now we have a Democratic governor and she let something like 61,000 get rights back.
Here in November unless we elect Democrats in overwhelming numbers, Republicans will say all the elections were rigged against them, or simply refuse to swear in the New Democrats to Congress. If that happens, I don’t see how it won’t turn violent. It will be the only way to stop the madness.

We have no restrictions what so ever thankfully. If one lives here but isn’t a citizen one can still vote in the region and county elections.

One can hope that Swedish voters have taken a good long look at what is going on here in the USA. Don’t vote for extremists of any kind. They have no clue how government should work. Our election is the first Tuesday in November. I hope this crop of Trumpers is out. I hope we’ll be allowed to have an election that’s not somehow prevented by bogus claims of national security or some other foolishness. I have applied for mail-in ballot and if it comes, I’ll fill it out and drop it in the town clerk’s box rather than in the mail or I’ll just go there and vote early.
The orange fungus that I mentioned before is called Yellow Carnival Candy Slime (Heterotrichia obvelata). I knew clowns had something to do with it. Not sure I’d want any of that candy, though. 😀
I let my side lawn go to wildness. Walking through it today I found 3 black walnut saplings. They’re only a foot tall. I always wondered how they suddenly appear out of nowhere as 20 foot tall trees.
We had some nice, soaking rain on Sunday but we’re still in drought conditions.

I’ve wondered for a very long time that why the ones actually swearing an oath to protect the constitution don’t protect the constitution? Would they react at all if Trump tried to somehow declare the voting bogus or would they just sit there and don’t give a shit?

Letting the lawn go to wilderness can give fun or horrible results. So far the only thing happening here is new nettles and grape elders 🙂 🙂 🙂
I don’t think I’ll get a single walnut this year, the drought made sure of that I think.

They only care about the Constitution if it backs their opinion. When it doesn’t, they do what they please. They have a conservative majority on the Supreme Court which somehow manages to find legal grounds for the illegal things this president is doing.
As for the wild lawn, so far I have found 3 baby black walnuts in there. They are all around one foot tall (30 cm or so). There was a fourth but something ate it right after I marked it with a little orange flag. I’ve probably been mini coppicing them whenever I owed so who know how old they really are.
I shall call that fungus Troll Candy from now on..

Our court system isn’t much better to be honest. Turns out that judges convicted of abusing women still are judges in abuse cases and lots of other crimes as well. I do however think our Supreme Court still is something we can trust here. To be honest, our legal system is built to make sure the wealthy wins by stopping financial support for those with less money. That makes it sure that the less wealthy can’t afford to appeal a sentence.
I can’t see a single walnut in the tree this year but the tree, must be because the drought. The English walnut froze badly last winter so it’s just knee high and the three heart walnuts are still too young. It’s amazing that those walnuts of Yours still keeps on going despite being copped 🙂
