The beginning of autumn?

I’ve already felt that there’s change in the air but even though it has been rather warm today that feeling is much stronger. Could be because the trees now are dropping their leafs but I think that’s mostly because of the drought we still have despite the latest rain and perhaps because of the rain itself. Back in the days before the weather started to change we always had the most rainfall (and comparing with snowfall) during June, July and August. Now the rains come later and not as much and plenty of winters lately have had very little snow.

The day started with fog and later on with sunshine and after walking with the dogs I managed to go to the supermarket in Skara (and the pet store to buy some fish for my small aquarium) and come home again before the clouds came and let go of their water. It was a gentle rain in the beginning but later on more heavy showers. The lighter rain however softened up the ground so most of it sank down into the soil. I did have to water in the greenhouse and in the garden I only watered the plants I’ve planted this year, they still need help since even though the rain did sink down it still isn’t even close to what we need and the ground is still bone dry beneath the surface.

My thought was to make that tomato sauce today but I haven’t done anything else at all today. I had also planned to bake some bread but I still have one French roll left and some hard bread as well so I can do that tomorrow instead 🙂 I have loads to do tomorrow now 🙂 🙂 Well I did put up the wildlife camera again to see if Doris the badger still comes around now when the rain has been falling, I guess it fell enough to wake up the snails and slugs out in the fields so that my apples not might be just as attractive any more.

The water barrels finally has some water again, one is 2/3 ds full, two half full and two one quarter full. Good thing I have my aquarium fish since I can net up all the mosquito larvae and feed them to the fish 🙂 I know I’ve said that it worries me that we’ve had so few flies and mosquitoes this year but I don’t think that my water barrels needs to be the source to fill up the forest with mosquitoes again 🙂 It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and after that I’ll go to bed 🙂

Have a great day!
