I’m sitting here in front of the computer eating strawberries that my neighbours kids thought I should have 🙂 Yes I am spoiled 🙂 🙂 They had been to one of the many self picking places today because the season for strawberries is almost open and this was supposed to be the last weekend they were open. Still lots of berries left so they might open on Monday and Tuesday as well. Very few things are better than eating freshly picked sun warm strawberries 🙂

We were always out picking berries every summer and autumn when I grew up in the sixties and seventies. Only the strawberries were picked on a self picking farm, the rest we picked in the nature. I usually hated every second of it but as my mother said: If You want jam and Ade the rest of the year You’ll pick too 🙂 🙂 It wasn’t the picking I hated to be honest but the biting flies and mosquitoes, they made every day out there a living hell to be honest but I did want that jam so I picked 🙂 🙂 also the afterwork was a bit dull, to remove anything that wasn’t a berry, like leafs, insects and spiders 🙂 🙂

Today I can enjoy it, especially since we now have so few biting insects flying around. I do prefer to pick wild raspberries because of the hight the berries grow at 🙂 🙂 Also if I find some nice tasting Bog bilberries I’ll pick those too. Most of them gives bland tasting berries but some gives delicious ones and I know where those bushes grow 🙂 I think this summer is too dry even out at the bog though so we might get raspberries but I doubt we’ll get many bilberries.

It is cooler today but it feels much warmer indoors, I guess the cottage walls stored much of yesterdays heat and radiates it in to my home. Mostly cloudy and a cool wind is blowing and even reach in to my garden today. If the sun doesn’t dry out the ground the wind does, no chance on winning that I’m afraid 🙂 No need to water the vegetable garden today, I covered the ground with the grass clippings I got while mowing the lawn yesterday, That keeps the ground from drying up and when the grass decays it also fertilises the ground.

It was rather nice when we went out on our morning walk today, slightly cooler than yesterday and even though I couldn’t see any deer we did see two big wild hogs. They, unfortunately saw us too so I never had the chance to take any photos of them. Well it is time to make another pot of tea. I’ve already eaten all the strawberries so I guess I’ll have to have an ice cream instead 🙂

Have a great day!
