We went out on our morning walk quite early today, so that it wasn’t too warm to wear a fleece sweater when the sun reached me. We saw a couple of roe deer and the sound of the cuckoo birds echoed all over the area. The Monster decided that she would follow us on the walk today and every now and again she left us to make a detour of her own.
She wasn’t happy big parts of the walk though, there was something in the forest she really didn’t like, my guess a fox or the wild hogs. Her fur rose up and she sort of was in attack mode lots of times. Could of course be another cat but I’ve only seen my neighbours cats close to the forest and she seems to accept them when ever they meet.
So that’s was why I was so surprised when she suddenly wasn’t close to us or answered when I called for her. Well she’s a cat and does as she likes so nothing much I could do about it. She did return to us later on though at almost the exact same place she left us š I guess she might have been interested in the squirrels who live there. Our squirrels are so shy so they don’t come to our cottages so I’m pretty sure she’s never seen any of them.
I’ve done very little today, well I did some laundry and watered the vegetables. I also moved some small perennials to a flower bed I really haven’t cared for in years. I planted Siberian catmint (the Swedish name for it is Big dragon flower) and it took over the entire flowerbed and other places as well š So I’ve removed as much of the root system as possible and needed to put something else there instead but that’s it.
Personally I would have loved to stay in bed today but the dogs insisted that we should go outside to greet the morning and all what it promised to be š I guess it was a deer walking in the garden they heard and wanted to investigate it. I saw the deer in the cow pasture later on when we went out on our walk. There’s usually three of them but two has slimmed and are probably taking care of their young ones but the third still hasn’t any baby and walks around in the cow pasture come to the forest.
It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and after that it’s time to watch the last Antique road show for the season.

It’s nice to have pleasant weather! There are days when I say this is the right kind of weather for me! And yet it changes.
My community garden plot (it’s an elevated bed) had fresh soil put in it. I was told it was great soil. I planted a lot of seed: broccoli, spinach, beets, swiss chard, etc. They all came up nicely. But I think the soil is pretty awful, because the seedlings gave never gotten their secondary leaves, and are all yellow. I have never had this sort of experience. I did put compost in a first, but this week I put in fertilizer too. I may turn all the seedlings under and put in green beans and squash after adding more fertilizer and compost. Meanwhile my own garden boxes are full of lettuce and carrots and peas. I have never had such a sad seeding experience! And all my worms from earlier are gone.
Oh well, green beans and squash are tough, and the beans will help fertize the soil.

It does sound as if You’ve gotten crappy soil. Especially if the worms are gone it’s really bad. I think compost might help it but I wonder how much You’ll need. Too bad when that happens! Over here we had a huge problem a couple of years ago when some pesticide managed to get in to almost every brand, even the ecological soil. Turns out it was through silage horse and cattle had eaten and nothing happened to them because the pesticide just went through them but it destroyed all tomato plants and pepper plants. It looks like they’ve managed to solve the problem now, especially since people stoped being the big chains soil products š
Yes beans are great that way also annual Lupines are fantastic doing that!Perennial lupines are forbidden here now since they are invasive but annuals are ok. I’ve sown two species, one with blue flowers and one with yellow. They’ve already started to grow and I can’t for my life remember which one I sowed where š š
I hope You can change that soil! So far so good here š

Sarah’s tail was definitely all afloof at something! One never knows what they are thinking or planning.
My youngest cat Tony loves what I call “sparkle balls.” They’re little sponge balls with pieces of shiny tinsel sticking out all over. I hide them in a tunnel in his treat puzzle and he loves pulling them out and batting them around.
He had an emerald green ball that disappeared months ago. I looked everywhere, under the furniture, the fridge. Couldn’t find it. Their cat toys vanish like socks in the laundry. There’s only so many places they can go, but they’re not there.
The other morning I got up and there was the green sparkle ball sitting in the middle of the living room. It was well hidden from me, but Tony must have known where he stashed it and fetched it when he wanted to play with it again.

I really can’t have any cat toys because the dogs take them š š š
I’ve never had cats hiding toys like that š š š but I had a dog that when he had a toy he didn’t want the others to have just dinged it down in the garden š I still find things when I’m out gardening š One can’t say anything else that that they are really smart š
