Even though it barely reached 10C (50F) and the wind kept on blowing it wasn’t that bad today. The sun shone all day long and most of the wind came from west so most of it never reached my garden. I picked off around 25 small ticks from the dogs after the morning walk yesterday and I actually managed to find them all. Nasty things ticks. Today however I was thinking about finding yarrow and rub those leafs on the dogs, problem is that they haven’t shown yet. I do however have a relative to it in my garden, we call it giant yarrow, So I thought why not try that one?

The cherry trees at the border of the forest are in bloom but the ones in the forest still only have buds.

It looks just like yarrow but are much bigger but they smell just like Tansy 🙂 So I used leafs from those instead and it worked really well, I couldn’t find a single tick on them 🙂 Ok it was a bit more chilly this morning but we did walk mostly in the sunshine and the vegetation should have been warm enough to have ticks on them. Don’t think I need to do it tomorrow morning because we’ll have frost tonight (and most likely the coming night as well) and even though one can find ticks on frosty mornings they are few and far between. Now at least I know what to use if I can’t find any yarrow.

I had to do something rather disgusting today, I had to clean the grey water filter. Imagine You’re cleaning the water lock in the shower and how gross that is and then think of me having to do it in a filter containing around 100 litres (26,4 gallon US). Just the smell of it is bad 🙂 🙂 🙂 All that gunk had to be put in my warm compost and thankfully I do have a water vacuum but it isn’t. big and I had to vacuum up the water several times 🙂 🙂 After that I mowed the lawn for the first time this year and all the clippings went down in to the compost as well and even though that smell is burned in to my brain the grass did remove it totally 🙂

After doing that the will of staying alive sort of had vanished 🙂 🙂 🙂 So I started to make cuttings from my fragrant geraniums, anything to get that awful smell away from my brain 🙂 I’ve taken it easy most of the rest of the day 🙂 🙂 🙂 I have however covered the little cherry tree to keep the frost away from the flowers, I really want to get some cherries already this year. Yes I have other kinds of cherries but I don’t have enough to cover them and I’m afraid that the cherry plum flowers will freeze this year.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I made some French rolls yesterday so I might have one of those as well 🙂

Have a great day!
