Lots of hard work.

We have a saying here that when the birch leafs are as big as mouse ears it’s time to cut the roses.

So yesterday morning I woke up pretty early and was preparing for going to my health center. I chose that place long ago since it was close to my work place, from here though it’s 50 km (31 mile). I had all the time in the world and was just about to put the necessary papers in my jacket when I noticed that I actually was running late. So I brought the dogs out to the dog house/ yard and drove away. I made it just in time when I realised that I actually didn’t put those papers in my jacket.

So I talked to them and if I drove home to fetch them they would just take my blood when I returned. So back home, throwing treats to the dogs in the dog yard so they could search for every piece while I drove back to the health center again 🙂 🙂 The fun thing was that when I drove the first time I had to pass a tractor pulling a tank with liquid fertiliser in it, so I opened my window and waved at hime since he made it easier for me to pass. On the way back home I passed him again and waved once again. Then of course when I drove back to the health center again he had just refilled the tank so I passed and waved once again 🙂 🙂 I actually met him again when I finally came back home again 🙂 🙂

The thing though was that when I arrived at the health center the second time that had just closed for lunch and wouldn’t open again until 1 pm. I really couldn’t complain about that but felt a bit hungry so I walked down to the pharmacy to see if they had something edible while I waited. They had just closed for lunch when I arrived 🙂 🙂 🙂 Back in the days all You actually could find in a pharmacy here were medicines and special things like toothpaste or plasters, now days they sell all kind of things, like expensive chocolate or chocolate bars. Old times pharmacists are probably rotating in their graves 🙂 🙂 🙂 Well now it’s done and I’ll do the x-ray on Monday and I’ll place the papers I need to bring in my jacket already on Sunday 🙂 🙂 🙂

Today has been rather wonderful, warm and sunny all day with a weak but slightly cool wind blowing. I’ve done some work in the garden, especially at that corner where the big rose stood (well there’s still some left of it but I must most likely remove that as well since they now have decided that that rose is invasive and must be killed. I am still allowed to have them in the garden if I already have them but they are not allowed to spread outside the fence. It, however; is known to do that so I better remove it totally. Too bad because it is a favourite for all pollinators and birds love to eat the seeds during winter. To be honest it is not that invasive here in Sweden more than along the coastline but from what I know it really doesn’t push any other species away so why not let it stay?

Not the best of photos but our squirrels are so shy it’s hard to get a photo at all 🙂

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and then I’ll see what’s on tv.

I’ve worked really hard to get rid of most of the roots in this area.

And here is the pile of roots and I’m still not finished 🙂

Have a great day!

I used to forget things but now I leave them in the car, since I only ever drive to appointments. I will need to remember to change that when I stop driving!

Our weather has been changeable, We get a couple of days of rain then a couple of days of sun. It works out well because I don’t have to water the seedlings. I no have a lot of vegetable seedlings, but I decided to buy tomato and pepper tarts since I don’t have room for walls of water in my elevated beds.

The dog wants me to take him outside! Time to stir my stumps!

    Have a good week

      Hi carolannie!

These papers I couldn’t because my social security number were printed on them, almost all important papers are like that here and even if nothing actually happens here I still wouldn’t leave them in the car over night.

Our weather is very stable at the moment, even though a cold front will pass the coming days we’ll still have sunshine for most of the time. Temperatures will drop a bit but then on May first they’re guessing we’ll have well over 68F! To far away to believe it but I wouldn’t complain if it happened 🙂 🙂 We do need rain though .

I placed some of all the morning-glory seedlings in the greenhouse last night and even if the temperature dropped well below 32F they still look good in there so I might try to put a couple of my tomato plants out there tomorrow, I have plenty so if it doesn’t work I still have other to place there when nights get warmer 🙂

I wish You the same 🙂

Hard to imagine that roses could be considered invasive species that must be killed.

All my bugleweeds are gone now and there are tall shoots of grass or something making the yard look ugly, so my yard guy is supposed to come by today for the first mow. The small blue flowers are still around, but they will go, too.

My pest control guy came yesterday and sent me a photo where he sprayed one of the 3 posts holding up my deck because it had carpenter bees! I had no idea. I guess I need to get some wood putty or something to fill in the holes they’ve drilled? What would you suggest.

      Hi catsworking!

It’s not like we have so many other roses that grow in the same places they can outcompete 🙂 But if they are forbidden in the EU they’re forbidden all over the EU.

The grass hasn’t even started to grow here yet 🙂 Still someone mowed their lawn yesterday, I could hear the mower 🙂

We don’t have carpenter bees in Sweden, thankfully. We do have carpenter ants though but thankfully they’re quite rare. They eat even fresh wood and are huge, our biggest ants actually and it’s nothing one wants in the house 🙂 🙂 Yes I would go for wood putty. There is a kind of hobby clay that’s made with tree fibres that could work well since it becomes pretty tough when it hardens.
