The last tomatoes from last summer.
After a really cold night warm air flowed in so we had some morning mist here this morning. I was a bit too tired to have a that early morning walk with the dogs so I missed most of it. It stayed chilly for quite some time but since we had no wind it actually felt rather wonderful when we finally went out 🙂

We’ve had sunshine all day and only a few clouds passed in the sky. Lots of deer running around and of course all the bird song made it feel like nothing was wrong in the world 🙂 I started to empty one of my composts and filled eight big pots and buckets plus my rather huge wheelbarrow. I emptied from the bottom up and when there was around a third left of the compost I stopped because I noticed that part needed a bit more time to be ready. That compost is said to be a hot compost even though the sides are really thin but they say it’s a new material that insulates really good. I’m inclined to agree but only until it is filled up to two thirds, after that it just works as any compost to be honest.

The backdrop with hot composts is that there aren’t any worms in the finished compost, it becomes just too warm for them to survive. I have very few worms in my garden except for where I’ve left nature to roam as it wishes because of the ground almost only consists of sand. So lets hope this compost helps with getting more worms in the ground 🙂 It would be great if we could get warmer nights now, I have bell peppers and tomato plants I want to move out to the greenhouse. The problem this north as I live is that clear nights usually means cold nights and with a few exceptions we’ll have clear and sunny weather for quite some time from now. One or two cloudy days and perhaps some rain so I don’t think I can move out anything at the moment.

Still today was really nice and perhaps the warmer day so far (with means a rather cold night) and I’ve enjoyed it fully. Monsterkitten has been playing with the dogs every now and again but mostly the dogs have been in the way when I’ve been trying to do something 🙂 🙂 They were really interested when I emptied the compost 🙂 There were two people looking at the empty cottage down the road, just on the outside space and they didn’t stay for more than perhaps fifteen minutes. I guess seeing that wild hogs have been digging in the garden sort of puts anyone off 🙂 🙂

It is time for something to eat and I’ll have that last cup of tea for the day at the same time. I think the ice cream lorry will come tomorrow so that’ll make the weekend so much nicer 🙂

Have a great day!
