Category: Thunder.

I slept away an entire day.

I normally don’t have fog coming in to the garden unless it is pea soup fog and it was that today.

I think we all now are getting rid of our ailments. The dogs stomachs are much better and I finally woke up without a sour throat. I was really tired yesterday so both the dogs and I slept almost all day. The morning was quite nice and cool with some sunshine so we could have a nice walk before the rain and thunder arrived. I’m not sure for how long I slept but it was several hours and I woke up an hour before my usual bedtime and went to bed again and slept the entire night πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I think the dogs slept the entire time as well but My sleep was so deep that I didn’t hear the thunder at all so they could have had a party while I was in the land of dreams πŸ™‚

Most of it was gone before we went out though.

Β  Β

I was oddly enough really tired when I woke up this morning so I didn’t have the energy to go out with the dogs while we had a really nice and thick fog, we even had fog in the garden. We’ve only had one short nap after that and I woke up to heavy showers and thunder. As I woke up I remembered that the kitchen door was open so I had to dry the floor from the little lake that had formed in the kitchen πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β

Still some visible water in the tarn but it is a deep hole so the grass is actually growing on roots coming from the vegetation around it.

The morning wasn’t especially cool when we finally went out for our walk so the flies were quite happy to greet us in the forest. To be honest there weren’t that many out there but the ones that were annoyed us enough. There’s unusually few flies flying around this summer, not that I mind but we do need these flies so the birds will have enough with food to raise their young ones. I remember not to long ago when one had to stop at petrol stations because the windshields were just disgusting covered with dead flies, so far this year I’ve had one fly crashing in to the windshield. It is nice to have clean windows on the car but something are clearly wrong out in nature now days. To be honest though, I have so many in my garden that it might be that they all have moved here πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β

I drove to the big grocery store in FalkΓΆping this morning. I don’t live in a tourist area so there weren’t many cars on the road. I bought what I had forgotten to write down on my list last Tuesday πŸ™‚ and then some πŸ™‚ I tried some new gluten free cookies they had gotten and I must say they were for once really yummy. If it is something I’ve learned since I got to know I can’t eat gluten is that most baked things taste like shit so even though I was hesitant I bought two different cookies and to my really big surprise they didn’t taste disgusting πŸ™‚ I’ll see if they can get them in my usual grocery store because what they have are abominations to mankind πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

My first hazelnuts πŸ™‚
My Himalayan Cedar looks great.
My Gardenias seems to like staying outside and this is the first flower to open up.
The perennial sunflowers are early this year.

They are guessing that we won’t have any rain tomorrow and 20C (68F). No sunshine though but they said that about today as well and we had plenty of it in between showers. They’re also guessing that the three days after that will give plenty of rain but mostly after noon each day so we’ll be able to have our morning walks without getting soaked. Well the grass will be dripping of both rain and dew so my feet and Malkolm will be really wet. Malkolm won’t mind though and Nova will walk after both him and me so she’ll mostly be rather dry when we come home.

Β  Β  Β

It is time to go downstairs and watch the English Antique Roadshow. There’s always someone there who had an old aunt that was a Russian grand duchess or similar and they always pretend that they are so surprised when the jewelry they brought are worth a small fortune πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Ours is so much more dull when it comes to that and sometimes the owner of the object tells from the beginning they already know the value of what they’ve brought. To be honest if I had something worth loads of money I wouldn’t want the world to know, it would be just like asking to be robbed one day πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

A cat from the farm was visiting the Beekeepers so I guess both Sally and Salmiak were indoors πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

The morning was really nice anyway :-)

The weather has been really mixed today. The morning was cool and nice with the sun warming up the air rather quickly, later on the clouds arrived and with it heavy showers but lots of sunshine in between. Now we have sunshine and rain at the same time πŸ™‚ Thunder was heading towards us but went north on the other side of the mountain.

The cattle have now moved on to the pasture beside the one behind the beekeepers cottage and that means the road still is blocked with electric wires so therefore much more difficult to walk along the creek.
We saw this deer buck on our way to the bog. Well I can see that it is more or less impossible to see it in this photos πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Besides the morning walk I’ve spent most of my first day of vacation with having a long nap πŸ™‚ I’ve had a cold for quite some time now, it has spread all over the country it seems, so I’ve been unusually tired this summer. I’m hit much less hard than most who have had it but instead had it for a longer time. I didn’t miss much while I, well we, were asleep. Every time it stops raining I’ve had the kitchen door open but the dogs have refused to go outside, they were caught in a shower early in the morning that not even Malkolm liked πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ and they wouldn’t do that mistake again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

Both the big weather sites are guessing we’ll have a rain free day tomorrow but loads of rain on Wednesday. I’ll have to go to a grocery store as well, I should have done that today but I looked in the fridge and decided I have enough at home to last until tomorrow πŸ™‚ My neighbors did the same but decided to go today so they don’t need to go for the rest of the week instead πŸ™‚ We all started our vacation today and none of us want to do anything unnecessary during these weeks.

Β  Β  Β

I already have three composts but I ordered a new one today, a kind of tumbler. It is black and is supposed to stand in sunshine so it becomes a hot compost. One puts in the material, could be grass or what ever comes from the garden or kitchen, turns it around a couple of times and leave it until next time. This will make compost much faster than the other warm/ hot composts. I bought it mostly because I have a family of mice in one of the old ones and lots of ants in the second old one. I’ve tried to make them move by pouring lots of water through it but they refuse, plus it is hard to open up so I can use what’s in it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

This is most likely not a Creeping bluebell because the flower grow out from the stalk n several sides of it.
This is a Creeping bluebell because the flowers all grow out from the same side of the stalk. Almost impossible to see the difference otherwise but my guess is that they both spread just as happily πŸ™‚

I better start writing a list of what I need to buy tomorrow and put it in my wallet already today so I won’t leave it at home as I so often do πŸ™‚ It is so much more expensive to forget that list because I keep guessing what I might need and come home with so much more and most of it is something I really don’t need πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The peas are in bloom and have started to grow over to their neighbors πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Malkolm is now almost as high as Nova is πŸ™‚Β  Β

Have a great day!

It’s raining, it’s pouring.

Yesterday morning we all woke up pretty early and I thought why not stay up so I could have a really long and calm breakfast before going to work. I had just eaten breakfast and went to brush my teeth when I heard a loud crash. Malkolm had decided he should push down the glass plate I had my sandwiches on to the floor. So instead of having a nice calm morning I instead had a quite stressful morning going to work quite late instead πŸ™‚

Β

The cattle is in the pasture behind the Beekeepers cottage so that means we can’t walk along the creek because the path home is blocked with electric wires.
Can You guess what flower this is? I know You all know about it but perhaps never seen the actual flower. I’ll put the answer at the bottom πŸ™‚

Now it’s Novas turn to have a bad stomach so I decided to boil more rice. I always put the pot on the stove and just barely let it start to boil before shutting down the stove, then put two handkerchiefs over the lid and just let it stay on the stove for twenty minutes, I made pancakes at the same time and put another glass plate beside the frying pan. The water just started to boil so I shut of that part and continued with my pancakes. Suddenly I could smell smoke and wondered what house was on fire when I realized that the handkerchiefs managed to reach down to the heat and had started to burn. The odd thing was that the water just kept on boiling harder and harder. That’s when I realized I hadn’t turned it off, instead I had started the stove top under the glass plate.

The oak refused to break when bigger trees fell over it, now it’ll always have that bend πŸ™‚

Β  Β

I was just about to remove the plate when it suddenly exploded πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Thankfully this plate was of a more good quality so the pieces mostly stayed on the stove but some dropped down on the floor. So I had to pour out the pancake batter, clean the floor (vacuuming it) clean out the frying pan, all the dog bowls and restart with making a new batch with pancake batter πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’m glad I had enough with eggs because for some reason I decided yesterday not to buy any on my way home from work πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Besides that we’ve had a calm day. We managed to take a morning walk even though the sun they said would show before the rain never did.

the first blueberries growing by the bog πŸ™‚

Β  Β

It is pouring down outside right now and thunder is on the way, I’m not sure if it will hit this village or if the mountain will push it to the other side. Tomorrow will most likely be rainy as well and we’ll have an almost storm passing by as well. We’ve also had a long nap today πŸ™‚ Nice to know I can have that the coming four weeks πŸ™‚ and since the weather seems to stay like this I might even have the chance to have two naps each day πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

It’s time for a pot of tea and then perhaps watch the Eurovision Championship in football (soccer for You Americans :- )

Β

Have a great day!

The flowers is a wild carrot πŸ™‚

MΓΆsakΓ€ringa.

Foxglove to the right.

We’ve had everything from cloudy weather to sunshine to rain and thunder today. It rained when I came home from work and after that we had so dark clouds that I though more thunder was on the way so we stayed at home and in the garden. I and my dogs once got caught in a thunderstorm where I had to chose from being the highest point in the fields or standing between the trees in the forest πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It was one of those fierce storms so the lightning flew all over the sky above us but none hit the ground here in the village.

Grape vines grow like weeds.
I apparently still have two grapevines in my garden πŸ™‚ I thought I had removed this one several years ago but here it is πŸ™‚

The broken old wheelbarrow. I always sow different poppies and morning glories in it.

The poppies will soon open up, the Californian poppies however is far behind.
I sowed this Mock orange around 20 years ago and it flowers nicely every year and has become pretty big.
I sowed this Mock orange well over twenty years ago. It is now huge and flowers nicely every year.

They are guessing that the weather will stabilize towards Midsummers eve and after that become warmer and more sunny but You all know by now that they aren’t too good at their work when it comes to guessing what the weather will be like here πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β  I know that in some folklore the beings doesn’t like to be out and about in daylight but very few is like that here in our tales. Like the SkogsrΓ₯, a forest nymph. She has lots of local names and I think that when people talk about here in this area they call her MΓΆsakΓ€ringa (would be something like the Bog hag, personally I call her the Bog Lady just in case I ever should meet her πŸ™‚ ). Everyone knows that when the fog rolls in over the fields from the forests it’s the Bog hags that has poured water over their nightly fires.

I have more roses than I can remember and I really can't say I like roses :-)
Found another rose that I remember I brought home after a plant swapping day. It has had a tough life fighting with wild roses I now have removed.Turns out it was lying flat on the ground so I’ve now helped it up again.
Persimmon shoots.
New shoots from the roots of the dead Persimmon hybrid. I’ve read that it is easy to make those shoots grew new roots so I’ll try that with some of them.

The Wisteria that I’ve tried to remove so many for years now but cut off a big piece of root is now growing in the Lathyrus, Golden shower. They have leafs looking very similar so if I’m lucky I’ll have both yellow and blue flowers in that tree πŸ™‚

She’s the one that reigns over the forest /bog and all the animals and if she likes a human she will allow them to hunt in her area. In this region she’s always described as very beautiful and tries to lure men to follow her and, if she wants to, kill them or seduce them. Her backside looks different when it comes to where she lives, Here she looks like a hollow log on her back but further north she look just like a human but has a tail. In the Norse beliefs the god Odin hated her and often hunted her like an animal but she’s hard to kill, only a silver bullet could do that (and I guess that since there were no bullets back in Odins days he must have used something else made by silver. If one would meet any kind of beings when walking around in the forest it’s always a good idea to haveΒ  some pieces of silver, either as an apology if one has done something stupid or a way to become friends with them Preferable that silver should be begged while walking on a pilgrimage πŸ™‚ To be honest I don’t think they are that picky now days since so few wear pieces of silver in their pockets while walking in the forest πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Nepeta sibirica.
Rosa multiflora. Forbidden to have in many states in the US.
Rosa multiflora, Japanese climbing rose. It is still behaving nicely up here in Scandinavia but can spread fast and tends to push away other wild roses. Forbidden to have in many states in the US.

Have a great day!

Close but still no thunder or rain.

The path down to the creek is bordered with Dog biscuits.
The path that eventually leads down to the creek is full of Dog biscuits. I’m glad they have driven four wheelers there, otherwise we would have been drenched in water from the rains and morning dews.

Hot again today so it was really nice that we were able to have our morning walk in the early morning while it still was cool. Not cool enough to keep the mosquitoes away but cool enough for them to not attack us to hard πŸ™‚ Malkolm woke me up at 3:27 am today but after he had been outside we all went back to bed and slept for another hour.

A Roe deer buck is eating in the field.
This wasn’t the only animal we saw this morning. It is a Roe deer buck.

Β

Still lots of water in the creek.
There’s so much vegetation along the creek now that it is hard to see it πŸ™‚

All the dogs are at the moment a bit wobbly in their stomachs so today I boiled rice and fish for them. Nova loved it, Alma loved it and Malkolm put his nose in the air and refused to eat anything until he realized they all had the same food πŸ™‚ He did eventually eat all of his food but I can clearly say that he’s not a fan of boiled fish πŸ™‚ Too bad for him because he’ll get this tomorrow as well πŸ™‚

The path along the creek is very narrow now days.
The path along the creek is now so narrow that we need to walk in a line, something Alma have big problems understanding πŸ™‚

Β  There's a little brige at the both ends of the creek where we alk so I had to stand on one of those to be able to see more than a couple of meters of it.

My camera refused to do as I wanted so here are two rather bad photos of fox cubs running away from us.
Some previous owner of my camera thought it was a good idea to adjust the camera to being able to go through the photos when turning the shutter speed wheel. Idiotic since if I need to adjust the speed after just taking one photo instead of changing the shutter speed I then started to go through my photos already taken. So instead of actually capture these two fox cubs so it would be easier to see them I instead took several photos that an editing program then tried to make at least some better. We met the mother later on but it happened so fast that I wasn’t able to take any photos of it.

Thunder and heavy rain is nearby again but it looks like it’ll go either south or north of us. I wouldn’t mind if we at least got the cool air that always follow thunder but even if we don’t get it today it will cool down considerable next week. It’ll drop from today’sΒ  26C (78,8F) to 14C (57,2F). It will stay that cool during the entire long weekend and I think I’ll enjoy it a lot, cool weather plus what they are guessing rain as well sort of forces us to just relax all the time πŸ™‚

Nova didn't like that I wanted to go down to the creek, she wanted to go out to the bog. So she dragged her feet all the time until I let her go un leashed, then suddenly she had all the energy in the world :-) :-) :-)

Malkolm decided to not follow Nova and instead kept himself close to me and Alma.
Nova did stop and look after us every now and again :-)
Nova checked after us on and off, last time she walked away like this she too a wrong turn and it took some time until she finally found us. She’s more or less deaf so no use in calling after her πŸ™‚

I moved the lawn, well most of it, when the grass had started to dry up some. I drank too little water while doing it so now I have a slight headache. What’s left will be moved tomorrow and it’s on the north side of the cottage and beside the woodland where the Pawpaws are growing. I do hope we’ll have a wind blowing because that’s where all the mosquitoes are and I have already been bitten quite a lot. I was bitten by a horse fly this morning as well, they’ve started their season a bit early unfortunately. Last month was unusually hot here and I guess that kickstarted them.

I do like the European Hornet, a gentle giant unless one comes too close to their nest. If one do one must run fast :-)
The European Hornets are back, favorites ogf mine :-)
Alma and Malkolm playing in the garden :-)
Alma and Malkolm had a few minutes to play before it became too hot.

Β

It looks like both the thunder and rain will miss us so I better put together the new hose and spray gun so I can water the vegetable patch. Something is eating the beans I sowed but the rest looks untouched, the carrots however hasn’t shown them selves yet so I’m starting to wonder whether I’ll have to sow something else in that spot. I’ll give them a couple of more days before I do anything.

Have a great day!

Rain and thunder and summer tires on the car :-)

Whitebeams are quite popular to have in towns and cities around here, hardy enough and rarely get sick.

It’s so nice to have summer tires on the car again, it’s so much more quiet in the car now. I also asked them to check if there is a hole in the exhaust pipe because sometimes it does sound like there is one and sometimes as there isn’t one πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The exhaust pie is really good they say but there is a place where two parts of the pipe connects and it doesn’t fit properly, when the pipe is cold so it sounds as if there is a hole πŸ™‚ When it gets warm the heat make the two parts expand a bit and when they do the sound goes away πŸ™‚ Nothing to care about they said so I won’t πŸ™‚

On top of Γ…lleberg looking towards MΓΆsseberg on the other side of the town.
FalkΓΆping is placed on two mountains and in the valley in between. If one is interested in status one should live on the other mountain called MΓΆsseberg, Γ…lleberg as these photos are taken on is for some reason not as fancy to live on πŸ™‚
The football (soccer) stadium. It isn't big but they are proud of it.
The football stadium in FalkΓΆping. Not big but they are and should be proud of it. If their football team ever should come to the higher divisions this would be way too small.

It's mostly smaller one family houses along the streets on theis side of town.

A little guy woke me up at three thirty five this morning, he needed to go outside to do his business. There wasn’t any use going back to sleep after that πŸ™‚ So I’m really tired tonight.Β  He and Alma aren’t though, they are playing wildly here in the cottage because it is raining outside. It started when I drove to the garage and has continued more or less the entire day. Most seems to have missed the village though but it rained enough to make the dogs prefer to stay under a roof. Still I noticed that Alma had started to work her way out of the dog yard again so I’ve been working on that place as well πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I hope it at least will keep her in there for a couple of days before she tries again.

There are also apartment buildings mixed in here and there, or is it that there are one household houses mixed in between the apartment buildings?
Apartment building s and one family household houses are mixed quite well in this town.
Murals are popular in this town, this one shows a knight on a horse and some kind of smiling blob beside and it is all in pastel colors. It looks like they are on a stage because one can see curtains on both sides.
Murals are popular here.

A red car stopping at a red light beside two apartment buildings, one of the buildings is yellow and the other one is sort of dirty pink. By the look of the houses they were built in the twenties last century.Β

Any way, I had a little walk in FalkΓΆping while I was waiting for my car to be ready, it’s just a small part so it doesn’t really show how the town looks, I’ll walk elsewhere the next time. FalkΓΆping is at least one thousand years old but it isΒ  kΓΆping and not a city or town to be honest. It had all to do with taxes and what rights the King gave the place. We have a similar town north of FalkΓΆping called Skara and Skara is a town so they celebrated Skaras one thousand year birthday as a town some years ago but that can never happen in FalkΓΆping even though it is just as old πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Today we call everything towns or cities even though most of them aren’t πŸ™‚

A brick building in red sort of hiding behind other houses. I've always wondered if This could have been a part of the old hospital? Have no idea to be honest.

A flower shop, one of many here, in a white building. A sign says Show that You believe in love and I guess they then want us to buy flowers to show that :-)
The sign on the flower shop says: Show that You believe in love. I guess they mean they want us to buy their flowers to show that πŸ™‚Β Another mural, a big one by a parking area. Bright orange and blue colors as background and in the iddle showing four people from different ethnicity painted in black and white.Β Looking uphill and can see some really small cottages by the side of the road. These are so small that I guess they must be some of the older buildings in town painted in bright red and at least one of them in yellow.

To be honest FalkΓΆping is a nice little place but quite boring πŸ™‚ I think it once was voted to be Sweden’s most boring town πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It’s a bit odd because it has two town centers. One is by the railway station and one is on the other side of the town. The one on the other side of the town is where I walked today and it is more like a real town square while the other one is open space, a grocery store, the station and very little else.

Standing at another place looking up-hill. Shops in wooden buildings to the left and a bank in a brick building to the right. Straight ahead is a long walkway in the shape of an avenue, trees on both side and the branches cover the sky above.

Standing in the twon square looking at something that I guess is art? To me it looks like they've cut off the tops of small hills and sliced the stone in to fairly wide pieces. To be honest it looks like lots of tightly put together head stones from a grave yard, very odd :-)
This looks like headstones from a grave yard to me. I guess it’s some kind of art they now are placing in the town square.

Fences in the middle of the twon square and behind them they've dug up the ground.Β  Much the same here.

I was a bit lucky while walking around, even though it rained most of the walk the thunder that arrived kept its distance and didn’t arrive until I had my car and was back at work. It missed this village but was quite ferocious everywhere else. It hit somewhere close to the factory just as I was leaving for the day and the last thing I heard was the paint box alarming and it looked like they weren’t able to re-start it again. Well I’ll know better tomorrow. Hopefully I won’t have to work by the paint box tomorrow, it’s a pain in the a..e when that happens because it can take forever to make it start again.

Lots of art galleries in this town. I'm looking at a window display and it looks like a small leafless tree with white birds in it.
Plenty of art galleries in this town.

A toy store are selling to small action figures from two different English football teams.
Well if You want to but small action figures from Two different English football teams this is the place to go πŸ™‚
A little white tree cottage hidden behind two bigger houses, quite common in this town. It used to be a thrift/ antique shop just a year ago. Last photo from FalkΓΆping today, more will come.
This little place used to be a thrift/ antique shop just a year ago.

It is still raining outside but little enough so that dogs can play outside. They are running in and out in full speed, up the stairs and down again and I can only hope they won’t break anything on themselves. I do hope it also means that Malkolm will sleep until the alarm starts tomorrow morning πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Sticky flypaper.

I’m waiting for the rain and thunder, we already have the strong winds that usually comes with it. The dogs haven’t any energy to play. Every now and again they go outside to try and have fun but comes in again just to take a long nap. Even I joined them in one of their naps πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

We were up early today though, when it still felt a bit cool and the sun was shining. We took the short walk out to the bog and then back home again. None of them was especially enthusiastic about having a walk but they sure were when we headed back home again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I don’t blame them because there were about a gazillion mosquitoes out there and Nova is so badly bitten now that her face is a bit swollen and she has small wounds after scratching herself in the face. I can’t even imagine how bad it is for all the wild animals out there. Thankfully we don’t have any midges here. They are tiny and many and some years it can be so bad that if a Moose can’t get away from them all those midges actually can kill them. It’s a good thing this country have so many lakes they can flee out to.

Β  Β  Β

So I haven’t done that much today, I’ve done the laundry and it dried up within a few minutes :-)I’ve watered the newly planted trees and also the Persimmon where the new branch is growing out plus the Pawpaw that survived the winter. I’ve also placed my summer tires in the car because tomorrow they’ll be put on and my winter tires taken off. I’m a bit late with getting that done to be honest πŸ™‚ If the garage doesn’t have a car I can borrow I’ll just have a walk in FalkΓΆping while the job is done. I always do so when the car is in the garage and I always bring a camera. So if You want to see photos from FalkΓΆping wish that they don’t have a car, if You don’t wish to see FalkΓΆping just wish they have a car πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

If they don’t have a car I’m planning on buying a new garden hose and some other things while I’m there, that is if it takes long enough so that the stores open before the job is done and I have to go to work again. Some of them don’t open until 10 am and since I’ll be leaving my car at 7 am I might go to work long before that, unless the garage is really busy. Then again who says I need to go to work immediately πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β  Β

I haven’t done any dinner for work next week either, so I’ll buy something on my way to work for tomorrow and make dinner when I come home again for the rest of the week. I’m just looking at the thunder app and it is slowly closing in to us. It will feel good when it has passed and the temperature has dropped. I have done one more thing though, the first sticky fly papers now hang from the roof downstairs. A few have already found their way indoors even though I do have nets put up by the kitchen door and the windows. No matter what one does those flies always find a way in and thankfully they like to land on something close to the roof, those fly papers are heaven sent πŸ™‚

The first bean is showing up πŸ™‚
Potatoes keep comming up even though it was three years ago I had potatoes in that patch πŸ™‚ Those red leafs looking like clover is actually an Oxalis, a popular annual pot plant. Turns out it thrives in this climate so now it’s one of the more common weeds we have in our gardens. I don’t fight it , instead I embrace it and it does get cute yellow flowers πŸ™‚
This is a native annual Geranium (not the pot plants You call geraniums because those are actually Pelargoniums).
Columbines comes in all kinds of varieties.

Have a great day!

Β  Β  Β

Rain and thunder is close but won’t reach us.

There’s thunder nearby but looking at the radar sequence on all weather sites it will miss us, I wouldn’t mind if we had gotten the rain because my two big water barrels are closing in to be empty and the cooler air would be nice as well. The cool air will come tonight though but only stay for one day, it’ll be warm again on Saturday.

A tiny part of my Lilac hedge, I have around 30 meters (much the same in yards) of it and I truly dislike Lilacs πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ In front of it stands a Red leafed Rose.

Whitebeam. A close relative to the Rowan tree and can become fairly large. I would like to have one in my garden but I have so many other trees growing now so it’ll have to wait until I win the lottery and can buy lots of new land πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We haven’t had any walk today because it is just too hot for a puppy and an eighteen year old dog, it was bad enough yesterday when we were out for a short walk. Still I’m not yet complaining about it being too warm πŸ™‚ Alma and Malkolm have been outside playing a lot though and now they sleep here beside me on the cooler floor while Nova sleeps on two fleece blankets and snoring loudly as well πŸ™‚

Β Β

Alma has stayed in the dog yard all day today, Yay πŸ™‚ funny because today had been the perfect day for her to do it when it comes to me and my job. The same company all day long, only one color and long series of what I painted. She always escapes those days when it is most inconvenient πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I must admit though that the dog yard hasn’t been this clean and tidy in a long time. I’ve been there fixing and cleaning almost every day and all eventual plants that tends to grow in there are almost totally gone πŸ™‚ Nothing bad that doesn’t bring something good with it as we say over here πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

So I’ve mostly hand watered the vegetable patch and all the potted plants. The vegetable patch has only been fried by the sun but the wind can’t reach it, so the ground was actually a bit damp on the surface now in the evening. The potted plants however needed a lot of water. It’s always a bit tricky to water all the potted trees and bushes because some need acidic water, like the Pawpaw and other preferres water with lots of lime in it, like peaches and Apricots. So now I need to place them in two groups so that I don’t use the wrong water.

One of the Ginkgo’s I had in my garden survived the snow storm, the other one seems to have died.
My seed sown Pawpaw’s. Three of them now have new leafs growing out and three have leafs since during winter and I think those need to drop before they too get new leafs.
Can You see the tiny green dots? New leafs on the outdoors Pawpaw!
This and the next one shows the two Pawpaws I bought this spring.

I can also tell You that the Pawpaw that stayed in the garden all winter has survived because today I could see the first tiny leafs growing on it πŸ™‚ The Columbines are opening up now and the tree peony has big buds πŸ™‚ My seeds sown Gardenias are either flowering or just about to. The seeds sown aren’t filled with petals like the ones we can buy and has a slightly weaker scent so they are easier to have if one has problems with strong smells.

Columbine. If You look at the petals they look like a dove seen from the side, hence the name, columbine means dove like.
This and the next one is the same species but since they self sow all kinds of varieties can show.

I “won” almost nine dollars US on the lottery yesterday πŸ™‚ I use ” because if I don’t win on Saturday I’ve only lost 3 dollars US πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It’s a bit sad when one is happy because one only lost three dollars πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Today started rather nice, it was slightly cloudy when I woke up but the sun started to shine between the clouds while we were out walking. Also it was cool enough to keep most mosquitoes and moose flies away and that makes any day a good day πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I know I can’t have fallen asleep before two am and I woke up at six thirty am and I’m still less tired today than those days I’ve slept around seven to eight hours πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I know the tiredness will come later but so far it feels pretty good. It si raining now and thunder just passed the village pretty close and I can see that more is on its way. There is at least no risk what so ever that any lightning will manage to start a forest fire, at least one thing we can than all the rian that has been falling for so long now πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Also I was thinking of using my new lawn mower for the first time today so I guess I should than the rain for not being able to do that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Today and tomorrow will be a bit cooler but we’ll have more sunshine tomorrow ands no rain, after that it’ll get cooler again but there really is no use in looking at those guessings since they have problems guessing the weather that will happen in two hours πŸ™‚ It does at least look like we won’t have any frost nights the coming ten days. Normally the frost arrives around September sixth but so far it hasn’t even been close to happen.

We’ve had lots of fog during nights though, sometimes I haven’t been able to see the road at all when driving home πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Deer has probably had a competition about who’s the bravest and can run out in front of my car as close as possible, also a badger must have been competing about that as well. The winner however was a bird that actually was sleeping standing on the road, He can’t even have been more than an inch from getting hit by my car.

I managed to get some photos in my garden before the rain and thunder started. Not much in bloom right now. I bought a Chrysanthemum yesterday. I’ve actually only seen this one for sale in the grocery store in KvΓ€num but they’ve had Asters instead and i didn’t want that. It is the wrong color and filled flowers but I wanted one so I bought it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ll plant it in my garden and if winter is mild enough it will survive until next year. It will look quite different (much higher than now) and might not flower in time before frost but I still want to try it. The only problem now is that I really don’t have any space for it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It is raining and thunder is closing in as well. We didn’t have any thunder at all when the heatwave was here or when the cold weather started but now we’ve had it several times. I hope it won’t be as bad as it was the last time because it lasted for hours and sometimes the sound just kept on all the time because of all the lightnings πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We did have a really nice morning and up until just after noon though, mostly sunshine and actually rather warm weather, something we haven’t been spoiled with this vacation. Still I’ve had a really nice vacation and I am so relaxed that it will be hard to start working again tomorrow πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ll have no problems waking up, I’ve woken up the same time I normally do when going to work the entire vacation πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It was 6C (42,8F) when we went out on our morning walk today, perfect because there were no flies flying around and I only found two ticks in total when I checked the dogs and we had walked in pretty high grass quite a lot. Ticks normally don’t like temperatures around those degrees. The water level is still quite high in the creek and I guess that after these four coming days it will rise even higher, they’re guessing we’ll get up to four inches of rain.

Four days ago I was stung on the backside of my ear by one of the wasps that lived between the roof and ceiling by my entrance door. I did swell a bit but not much, normally I swell like a balloon where I’m stung but I think it hit the cartilage in the ear. My ear has been aching ever since, it isn’t until now that the pain has gone away. It has been itching a lot and the skin started to sort of flake away πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The ear is still rather warm though but that I can live with πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It actually took three days until all the wasps were gone. I didn’t think that many actually stayed outdoors during longer periods. There’s still the occasional wasp flying there but they don’t even try to get in any more. I don’t mind wasps as long as they don’t attack me or the dogs, if they do it’s good bye!

Thunder and lightning and bank ID.

We had fog again this morning and I think fog must be my favorite kind of weather, especially when the sun can shine through every now and again. Nova decided that we were going out to the bog again. We didn’t see or hear any animals except for the birds and only one bird still sung its spring songs. There were no wolves around either since the dogs were happy and calm. Alma has calmed down so much that it’s hard to believe she’s the same dog that tore my shoulder apart a couple of time last year πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

My Bank ID, a digital ID that I must have if I want to buy something online now days (I’m sure You have it too but one never know what it can be called), had to be updated, and I asked people and they said I had to do that in the online bank. I tried but the online bank said I had to either have an absolutely new passport or an international ID card where I could scan something to proof that I am who I am. My new drivers license wasn’t ok enough to use. I know we are several people who are quite upset about that because it will cost around $40 US to get an international ID card and why should I have to have that? I’ll never use it.

So I drove to the bank today and my bank is in a neighbor county 50km (31 mile) away. I was quite annoyed when I arrived because after all my bank is well known for helping Russian oligarchs laundry their money and I doubt that those people would have to have an international ID card πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well it turns out that I really don’t have to have anything new because all I needed to do was to update the app in my phone πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The young woman who helped me had gone through this a lot of times πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I still have no idea why the online bank said I had to have those things but I think that it had to do with newcomers to this country who aren’t citizens.

I came home just before one of the angriest thunderstorms we have had here in years arrived. The Lightning app said that we had well over 800 lightning hits in and around this village during 30 minutes! I can’t remember that heavy showers falling either and the sound from the rain was so loud that I couldn’t hear the thunder at the same time. I loved it, Nova and Alma slept through it and Albin was so angry because I didn’t allow him to go outside to check what it was that made so much noise πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I did open the door for him when the thunder had moved away some but the showers still were just as heavy and then suddenly it wasn’t that important to go outside after all πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

After that we’ve had sunshine for a while but now it’s just as cloudy as before and the lightning app has warned about lightning in the area again. I think the worst is over but perhaps it’s best to close doors and windows again just in case.

Lots of thunder lately.

The photos are taken with either my phone or my little Sony so they can be taken any morning since last week.

We’ve had lots of thunder lately and today is no exception. It has stayed calm for a while but now it’s closing in again. I don’t mind since the heat will cool down for at least a while.

On Wednesday I found a notice about a registered letter that I could fetch in FalkΓΆping. I had absolutely no idea what it could be so I took a couple of hours off from work to go and get it. When I get there they check and says I’ve already have fetched it? I don’t know what they are doing at the Swedish postal service because it turns out that it was the parcel I already had fetched!! So it wasn’t a letter and I haven’t gotten a paper note in my mailbox about anything I can pick up at the post office in so many years that I actually can’t remember when it happened the last time πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The girl I talked to felt so sorry for me going there unnecessarily that when I bought a soft ice cream she made it so big that I had huge problems eating it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
