The sunshine is still warm.

Dryer and colder winds will fly down over the country and I could feel it early this morning. 0C (32F) when the dogs and I went out for our morning walk. All the cars were covered in frost and the ground was slightly frozen so we weren’t especially muddy when we came back home.

Two male Bullfinches.

Sunshine all day long though and the heat from the sun was so strong that I could have the kitchen door open as long as the light hit the south heading wall. I can’t say it felt like early spring but it was really nice. This was however most likely the last sunshine we will see for at least ten days if the weather sites have guessed it right πŸ™‚

The temperatures will fall so from tomorrow it will be a bit chilly here. Not below 0C (32F) during the days but perhaps during nights. Β I took a look at the Kaki fruit kernels (an Asian relative to the Persimmon fruit) in the fridge, It does look as at least one might germinate so hold Your thumbs and cross Your fingers for good luck πŸ™‚ Β This time of year is a bit boring when it comes to gardening and sowing. Well some plants need a winter or two to be able to germinate so I’ll start with those but not until January.

I bought myself a big Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulb when I went to the grocery store in FalkΓΆping after our walkThe ones I’ve seen has been ridiculously expensive but these were manageable in price. It says this one will have red petals with a white string in the middle of every petal. I don’t care if it is or not (usually lots of those bulbs are wrongly marked but who cares just as long as they flower πŸ™‚ ) Have You ever sown the seeds from the Amaryllis? It is quite easy but it’ll take around three to four years until they flower and the flowers will most likely not look the same as the parent plant, sometimes one get the most amazing flowers from seeds.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and later I’ll watch On the Tracks on tv, it’s really the only thing I watch now days πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Very little has happened these last days and that’s how it should be πŸ™‚ The weather has changed loads of time, lots of just cloudy, a fair amount of sunshine and some rain as well, especially today will be rainy, they’re guessing it will rain all day long.

The dogs just look at me when I open the door for them to go outside πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The little monster however will not be stopped by some rain, my guess is that she’ll go straight to the woodshed because she’s rarely especially wet when she comes back home again.

We have been lucky with the weather when we’ve had our walks though and yesterday morning was so chilly that I could see frost on the ground here and there. So no moose flies to deal with πŸ™‚ It should be the end of their season anyway so from now on I shouldn’t have to wear the hoodie to avoid getting those nasty flies walking in my hair. It is a horrible feeling to wake up to at night πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Today I’ll go to a job interview. The job is in a town called SkΓΆvde but the interview will happen in another town called LidkΓΆping. Apparently they have two factories (I’m not sure it should be called a factory but I don’t have a better word for it), the job is about sanding objects before it is going to be painted and eventually later on also paint the things. To be honest I have no idea what kind of things we’re talking about but a job is a job and since I don’t tend to win the lottery I hope I’ll get this job πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I have come to like staying at home all day though πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ but getting payed is better than hoping for that lottery winning after all πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ This time at home have however made me realise that I will love to retire when that day comes πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I haven’t had any tea yet so I better make some before it is time to drive to that job interview. Since the weather is like it is I guess I’l spend the time until then in front of the tv or perhaps watch an episode or two of a Town called Eureka πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Just an ordinary day.

A really nice day again, chilly and sunny in the early morning and warm and sunny for the rest of the day. We haven’t had any hunters here for two days and that’s very unusual. These guys have two smaller areas to hunt at and since we rarely have any moose here now days (we used to have loads, almost always meeting a moose or two each time we were out walking, then some kind of disease hit the moose and they almost disappeared), so they concentrated more on the other little area.

They’ll be here tomorrow though. Neither they nor I have seen especially much wildlife this year, except for wild hogs but they have caught lots with the wild life cameras they’ve put up, so now we’re all wondering what they do during the days when we’re around. So instead of having a morning walk tomorrow I’ll drive to the supermarket instead on doing that on Sunday and we’ll have our usual afternoon walk and hope the moose flies stays calm, I truly dislike those flies.

So the orange blob didn’t get the peace prize and I wonder why he was the favourite in the betting sites? After all the Norwegian peace prize comity has a back bone that few others have and they don’t give a shit about being pressured by him to give him the prize πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ They would never give a peace prize to someone who has stopped aid to starving people, persecuting immigrants in his own country or threatening his own people with violence under the disguise he wants to stop crime that isn’t there. Also I’ve never heard that they’ve ever given it to a fascist ever. Also the tariffs isn’t helping anyone except for perhaps the billionaires already living in the country, it sure doesn’t help the poor, perhaps someone should tell him that?

Plus the fact that it isn’t peace until it lasted for a longer period of time, just signing a paper makes no peace. Over here it has been calm as always πŸ™‚ It’s getting dark and the temperature is dropping so I’ve turned on the radiators. This weekend will stay reasonable warm but next week the temperatures will drop below 10C (50F) and even if the sun will be shining a lot according to their guesses it will most likely be cold anyway. So different from spring with that temperature when it suddenly feels nice after the long winter πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I think I’ll warm up the SmΓ₯lΓ€ndska cheesecake I have in the fridge πŸ™‚ I better remember to buy a new one when I’m at the store tomorrow πŸ™‚ I’ll also buy some blue cheese because Malkolm has become a bit picky when it comes to eat breakfast, suddenly he’s not hungry or don’t like the food he gets. Old Nova was much the same all her life and the only thing making her eat breakfast was to put some blue cheese in her food πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The rest of the day all food goes down though πŸ™‚ I’ve bought so much blue cheese in my life even when I didn’t want any myself, the things we do for our dogs πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Now I’m waiting for the storm to arrive.

Sunny and nice morning again today but after that a chilly wind has arrived and I guess it’s the same we’ll have tomorrow but then with storm strength in the gusts. I’ve now done what I can to secure it with 12 new tent pegs for green houses and a few other things. I’ve blocked the door with an old broken golf club πŸ™‚ No I’ve never played golf but I once bought a golf bag on an auction just in case I ever would be insane enough to start playing golf πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

There was some morning mist when we went out on our morning walk but we walked out to the bog and this time no fog had hidden in there πŸ™‚ We might have had a wolf nearby because both dogs seemed to be uncomfortable being out there. Could also have been moose since the dogs don’t like them either. Β Animals were moving around in the forest but by the sound of it I think that mostly were deer or wild hogs.

I also drove to the grocery store today, normally I would have waited until tomorrow but driving around in a storm on top of a mountain is never a good idea πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It was unusually calm in the town, FalkΓΆping on Fridays are usually chaotic when it comes to traffic. It’s just a tiny town but the traffic is just as bad as it is in a big city πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Β Also very few seems to know any of the traffic rules we have in this country so no matter how well one drives there’s always a lot of honking from other car drivers πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Today there wasn’t any traffic at all so I could just as well have backed the car all the way in the village and no one would have noticed πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It is time to make a pot of tea and I’ll have some ice cream at the same time. The strong winds will arrive some time in the early morning and will be as worst at around 9 am till 2 pm so I’ll be glued to the windows until it starts to calm down. We might also have up to 50 mm (two inches) of rain falling so cross Your fingers and hold Your thumbs for good luck and that the green house doesn’t fly away πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

This is one of the storm anchors on the outside.
Twelve new pegs on the inside all pointing att different directions. I should have bought 24 because there are a lots of holes on the side that won’t be hit by the wind.
I also put some support on the outside but doubt that will help much.
And the golf club outside the door πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Even colder this morning.

Β

Even colder this morning but they sun was rising over the village covered in morning mist so it didn’t take long before it was warm enough in my garden for a t-shirt instead of the thick sweater I had when we went out to the garden after we woke up. The tomatoes are still fine but now lots of the vegetation has damages after the cold night. The Pawpaws however still look fine but I do hope they now will prepare for the winter that’s coming.

By the way did the rapture happen? Β It looks like my whole village might have been left behind, well perhaps the entire country as far as I know πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So did anyone go? Β πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ To be honest the rapture is an American thing, no one in Europe from what I know believes in this so I guess that’s why we still are here πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I do like these End of the World scenarios though. Normally it’s about a comet hitting the planet, a rouge planet passing by creating havoc here or Nostradamus πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I lost the feeling in my fingers while we were out on our morning walk I didn’t think I would need gloves or mittens this early in autumn, it wasn’t until we were almost at home that the sun finally warmed them up. I didn’t pick any mushrooms today, most of them would have been turned to ice anyway. We walked the same way as Yesterday because I wanted to see the morning mist for as long as possible and the only chance to do that is to not walk the first bit in the forest. The mist tends to evaporate as soon as the sun starts to warm up the world. Fog is a totally different thing because if it is thick the heat from the sun might not be able to reach down to us ground creatures πŸ™‚

Now when I suddenly had nothing to plant, sawn off Β almost all dead branches and pruned the trees and mowed the grass yesterday I had no idea what to do πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ That’s when I suddenly remembered there was one thing I can do. I’ll show You in tomorrows post if it is done but won’t tell You what it is now. It did mean a lot of digging, finding something I used years ago and it will make my muscles ache tomorrow πŸ™‚ Still this isn’t anything big but involves lots of work πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Also it is placed in the absolute wrong place but I can’t move it for some reason πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I have otherwise done very little today. I did make dinner, oven fried potatoes and Wiener sausages. The dogs loves the potatoes so I always share them. I should have had some oil dripped over them but skipped that since the dogs would have some as well. I had some film tools developed and I must admit I have no idea what cameras I used and lots of them were so shaky that they aren’t worth showing also all seems to have been taken during winter so they look cold πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day ad tonight they show the season finale of Death in Paradise, I hope they’ll show something good after this but that channel tends to keep their programs fore decades and can’t figure out why people don’t watch the channel any more πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I think this might have been taken with an Agfa Ambiflex or perhaps an Agfa Colorflex.

Have a great day!

Β

Β

I’ve started to use those wood chips I’ve made.

I was expecting a sunny morning and I hoped for morning mist again. We had sunshine but the mist wasn’t here but closer to the mountain. Β It was a bit chilly when we walked down to the creek and my shoes got drenched in the morning dew and Malkolm who always wants to walk in the grass and follow tracks was even worse πŸ™‚ He had no ticks walking around on him though so that was a good thing πŸ™‚

Lots of small birds tweeting and Jays arguing but there were now bigger animals around. Once I saw a pure white wild hog and I have to admit that it was really beautiful. I didn’t manage to get a photo of it and have always hoped to see another one. Turns out that they are quite common, perhaps not pure white but with spot or markings of other colours on them. Since we don’t have white moose in this area I really think I deserve to see a white wild hog again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’ve put up the new LED light ramp in the cellar so this morning I started to clean up down there. Lots of soil and sea leafs and twigs on that floor so it took its time. I knew that the monster pooped down there when she had sucked in when I didn’t notice it and therefore locked her in for hours sometimes πŸ™‚ I did however not know how much until I had that light put up, on the plus side though is that I didn’t find any moose droppings which I see as positive πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I took some photos to show what my garden looks like at the moment. This shows the south side east corner.

South side western corner.

North side towards east where the cottage stands.

North side towards west.

And the north side towards west corner where my Pawpaws grows.

Lots of smaller lorries have been driving up and down to where the latest neighbours live, looks like they’re moving out today. Too bad I liked them but I fully understand them, the owner of the place is just too greedy. So now we’re waiting for new tenants or perhaps someone from a big city buys it, they usually have no idea. what places like that costs here, anything is cheaper here than I the big cities. I’m not even sure if they could buy a two bedroom apartment in a big city for what they want for this place but it is still too much. Lets hope that who ever comes here are just as nice as the ones moving out.

This is one the other side of the cottage, the northern side looking towards west.

And this is the opposite side towards east. Big and thorny roses on both sides of the entrance πŸ™‚

I’vedecided to plant those five Pawpaw seedlings I have, I can’t trust the cat wanting to go down in to the cellar so I think it is best that they’ll stay outside and I’ll cover them as good as I can instead. The biggest threat to their lives are the dogs running around playing with each other πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I’ve put up sticks so the dogs can avoid running in to them. Oddly enough the dogs actually tends to avoid those sticks but can happily run in to smaller trees so hard that they break them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Β According to our folklore the winter will be harsh if the Rowan trees have lots of berries, this year they have almost no berries so it should be warm, almost hot here πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Unfortunately it doesn’t show anything more that if they have lots of berries the spring was absolutely perfect for them.

I’ve started to fill up the area around the English walnut with the wood chipping I made from what I’ve been cutting down. The layer is around 20 cm (eight inches) thick. Just remember when using fresh chips they will when slowly decaying steal a lot of nitrogen from the ground. No bigger problem with a walnut though since they have taproots.

The Pawpaws are small and while living in a pot they were eaten by slugs. So far I’ve never seen a slug in this part of the garden, there’s just too little to eat for them I guess.

It is time for that last cup of tea and perhaps a bowl with corn flakes. Β Nothing on tv at all so I have no idea what to do for the rest of the evening πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Now I can see the mess :-)

Β

We were supposed to have rain all day today, not much though, so I’m not the least surprised that we until 5:50 pm had sunshine all day long πŸ™‚ A strong wind has been blowing and that kept the flies away and it has been warm as well.Β

I didn’t look outside the window when we went up this morning and since I do have a rather high lilac hedge around big parts of the cottage I missed that we had morning mist. I did notice it before it evaporated though so there was still some left when we had our morning walk. A walk in a sunny, misty and cool morning is better than most things in life to be honest. Small birds were flying around everywhere, Jays argued somewhere in the tree tops and I could hear some animals trotting away from us.

The ground is drying up again so I still need to water the most vulnerable trees and perennials and I do that either just before we’re out on our walk or just after. Today I once again had to pick up a parcel, this time it was a LED light bar. The old fluorescent lamp I have down there is long gone, I’m not even sure if one can get parts to it any more. During winter I always have plant lights on but now one of those broke as well. I’ve put the new one up and almost regretted it because now I can see the mess πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ll need to clean it all up before I start taking down the trees I must have indoors during winter.

I haven’t done much after that, we did take a long nap though but I’m not sure that can count as doing something πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Isn’t it strange that the phone can be quiet all day but as soon one is falling asleep the entire world wants to reach You πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ and then as soon as the nap is over the phone gets quiet again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Mostly it’s telemarketers so I’m happy to say that they now are discussing a new law that forbids telemarketers to call privet persons unless we specifically have allowed them to πŸ™‚ This is a law I’m really looking forward to!

The Dahlias I sowed had only bright yellow flowers in the beginning.

Then some showed some orange as well.

Yesterday morning I found this bud.

Β

And today it opened up bright red πŸ™‚ Dahlias are supposed to have migraine-inducing colours according to my taste so this one I like πŸ™‚

I is time for that last cup of tea for the day. To be honest I think I could drink an entire pot without having problems to fall asleep because I’m still just as tired as I was before the nap. πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Β

Morning mist again this morning but we came out a bit late so it wasn’t much left when we had our morning walk. Still the one still left was rather nice.Β

Β

The rain prediction they first guessed should fall today were changed to showers and then changed to just cloudy so I wasn’t surprised that we mostly have had sunshine today with the occasional cloud passing in front of the sun. It has been rather warm as well so I did some sawing in the old apple trees. I bought one of those on a long stick so I could cut off dead branches higher up in the trees, Now I realise that I should have bought one of those telescope sticks because there’s lot of dead branches pretty high up in the trees.Β

I also by mistake cut of a big branch that still was alive but to be honest it opened up the tree a lot so now air will flow more easily through the tree and hopefully it will keep apples from rotting and perhaps it will help to keep the different fungi infections the trees can get since they’ll dry up faster after rain and high humidity. There are still lots I can cut off and I do have the time to do it without feeling stressed about it, I’ll have lots of tea and coffee breaks that is πŸ™‚Β

The paper shredder has arrived at the grocery store in Gudhem but I’m waiting for another parcel coming via another shipping company to the same grocery store. I don’t know when it arrives though otherwise I would get it at the same time, I really don’t like to drive around unnecessarily even though it just a ten minute drive away. So I guess I’ll pick it up on Monday when I’m going to a bigger grocery store anyway and pick it up on my way home. You might think that I should buy my groceries in the smaller one but they don’t have especially much to be honest, I will however buy more ice cream there to make sure it doesn’t melt on the way home πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I think I’ll have the last of the ice cream I bought the other day. Also it is time to give the dogs their dinner as well. My headlamp is now charged so if we need to get up in the middle of night to do our businesses I’ll go outside first to check so there isn’t any badger walking around there again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The Jerusalem artichoke, a perennial sunflower, already flowers, almost a month early.

Have a great day!

Another perennial sunflower, they are quite popular amongst pollinators.
They needed to have a long rest after my hard work with the apple trees πŸ™‚

They say it’ll finally rain a lot tomorrow.

It has been warm all day, 25 C (77 F) most of the day before noon was sunny and most of the day after has been cloudy. Still warm though and we’ve also had a rather strong warm wind. I slept for much longer last night than I’ve done in years, a cold is spreading here and it might be that it has made me so much more tired, a bit stuffed in the nose but nothing worse for me. My neighbours had it much worse.

The leafs are going yellow but it’s because of the drought and not so much because we’re closing in on autumn.

So since we went up much later we had our morning walk before we had breakfast. I could hear some ravens and small birds were tweeting but besides those it was rather quiet. We walked down to the creek and back because I didn’t want to walk in the high grass in the forest now when it is dry enough for the ticks to stay there. Β We walked in the high grass yesterday and I had to pick plants of ticks from the dogs after we had come home, nasty animals!

I’ve also been to a big grocery store in FalkΓΆping this morning, a nice change to the supermarket I usually go to. I was going to stop on the way home at the small grocery shop in Gudhem on my way home to buy ice cream, it gives me enough time to come home without the ice cream melting. I of course forgot that so still no ice cream in my home πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I do have a can with peach halves and one smaller with pear halves so I might have one of those instead.

I would like to tear up all these vibes with small yellow flowers now. They are annuals and has already spread so many seeds that there’s no risk of them not coming back. However we have loads of bumblebees here and these small flowers are perfect when they need nectar sonce they will continue to flower until the frost kills them.

They say that we will have rain tomorrow. Anything from one centimetre (two fifths of an inch) to 4 cm (one inch and three fifths of an inch) falling down from the sky. I do hope we’ll get the higher amount because I would at least not have to water anything for a couple of days πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It is so dry here now that we only get very little dew in the morning and when that happens we’re really in a secure drought.

I want to remove the wild plum tree I have but I’m afraid to even go close to it with thorns like these πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The sooner I do it the better though, it’s just a young tree and if I with it’ll only get more thorns πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I was planning on baking a bread after this but it will be done so late that I better start tomorrow since we actually might get that rain πŸ™‚ Time for that last cup of tea for the day and then some tv watching.

Have a great day!

It worked after all these years.

+1 C (33,8 F) this morning but since there was no wind what so ever it actually didn’t feel that bad. I’m glad I covered the sensitive plants last evening. I don’t trust those temperatures the weather web sites show though, they say around 10 C (32 F) so I’ll cover them again tonight.

Perfect weather during the morning walk though, the sun was mostly shining, there were a few clouds that managed to hide it a few times, so it was nice in the sunshine but still so cold that the flies didn’t fly around. No cranes in the air this morning but four song swans (like Your trumpet swans) passed on their way to the little lake in the bog. I also saw a Jay fly away but that’s it when it comes to wildlife. All that rain we had last week has already dried up and very little dew as well but I managed to pick the three ticks that were climbing on the dogs. When we have lots of dew the grass is too wet for the ticks to stay there since there’s a risk they actually drown.

I also mowed the outside of the garden grass but the mower barely trimmed the tops πŸ™‚ That’s the positive part with a long drought πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I then remembered my compost grinder that has been standing beneath the roof of the patio for I don’t know how many years. So I brought it out on the lawn and took a look at it. The grinding parts were covered in rust and it was impossible to see how it looked inside the motor. I plugged it in just too see if it showed any signs of life anyway and to my very big surprise it started!!

So today I have started to work away the two big piles with all the branches I’ve cut away lately from most of my trees and bushes. I managed to grind down a lot even though it doesn’t show to be honest πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ and the mound of grinned branches isn’t especially big either but I thin I’ve actually done half that pile oaf branches today. I’ll continue tomorrow and I hope that I’ll at least worked through the rest by tomorrow evening. After that I’ll start with the second pile.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and then I’ll watch a show on tv called Elsbeth, It has gotten good reviews so why not πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Every fifth month.

Looks like the cold weather scared som cranes to move south, usually they don’t do that until mid or late September.

Another cold night so I’m glad I covered the more sensitive plants. Yesterday we had several thunderstorms passing by and we had hail falling in at least three of them, there was even some hail left when we went out in to the garden when we had woken up.

The rest of the day has been really nice though. It was so cold on our morning walk that not a fly or anything but migrating cranes were moving in the air. Well a couple of Jays flew around screaming, most likely warning about us walking down the gravel road. The sun shone almost the entire walk and has continued to do so with the exception of a few clouds passing by. The clouds weren’t big but manage to pass the sun in a place so the sunshine couldn’t reach us. It has actually been enough warm to have the kitchen door open almost all day.

When there are like two or several individual mist clouds we’re saying that the Elves are dancing. Normally we see this in fields and usually in a ring formation. One doesn’t want to interfere in it because it usually means the end of life is here. These two however let us pass without being punished πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It should have been open all the time if it hadn’t been because of Alma, she is now in heat. Malkolm is still chemically castrated so no such problems but he still behaves like a bewitched teenager πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Almost all female dogs that have been living with me has done that every six months, not Alma though she does it every fifth month πŸ™‚ which is at the time rather good because I was unsure for how much longer the chemicals would work on Malkolm.

Most spiderwebs had been destroyed by the heavy showers of rain and hail.

Some had however managed to build new ones.

I’ve planted most of the sown coneflowers (Echinacea) today. I really like them but for some reason I have never had one, bought or sown, surviving the winter here and that’s not because they aren’t hardy enough and the sand in the ground here should be perfect for them. The only one that I actually had for several years was the pinnate prairie coneflower (Ratibida pinnata) but those were slowly pushed away by some wild roses I used to have πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

This is a rather nice tasting mushroom and it grows in my garden.

My bigger citrus trees, smaller this year due to frost and my four Pawpaw seedlings. Two from last year badly damaged by mice and two from this year.

The coming three days will be much like today they’re guessing but after that we’ll get clouds and rain but at least not as cold as it washes last days. The tea is waiting and perhaps I’ll have a sandwich or two πŸ™‚

Malkolm looking slightly ashamed all the time now πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

We had a rather chilly night and morning here as som of You know, 0 C (32 F) as coldest but no frost, they day itself was rather nice and warm though. if we don’t have clouds covering the sky tonight we’ll most likely have frost. That’s a bit early even for us, normally the first frost night happen around September 6 here.

This one didn’t look as if it would live much longer so I decided to check if there were any potatoes in the bucket.

I poured it out and immediately found a couple potatoes.

and the more I diggged the more I found.

So from just two small sprouts I got enough potatoes for three dinners πŸ™‚ I have two more much bigger pots waiting to be emptied.

We had a really nice morning walk though, not a single fly but the dogs got caught by a few ticks, easily removed though since they were walking around on them to find a nice and cosy spot to bite them at. Alma had that annoying whine again and Malkolm decided he had to pull the leash almost all the way so I was a bit annoyed to be honest. I did see a Roe deer though but the dogs missed it thankfully πŸ™‚

I brought out the two electric chain saws I own, both have been outside all the time but covered so no water has been able to reach them. I wanted to see if they still were working and they do but I did have to remove a lot of rust so the chain could move. So I went online to order new chains and that wasn’t easy πŸ™‚ I can find both models without any problems but no places tells me what kind of chain I should buy. They’re giving lots of examples but only say that this chain works on most models πŸ™‚ even on those that are too short or two long. I did find one that I think will fit on one of my saws and hope it does because I’ve ordered it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The first red toadstool for the year.

There she was and we looked at each other for a short while before the dogs and I started to walk back home again.

The Heather is in full bloom now.

My neighbours 5 year old daughter wanted to give me fresh eggs today, they had forgotten to check last afternoon so she wanted me to have two warm eggs and two cold ones since the older ones were cold today πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So today the dogs and I had pancakes for dinner πŸ™‚ Besides this I’ve done very little today. I did water all plants I want to be sure to have next year and I’ve moved a lots of potted plants close to the cottage south heading wall so that if it is a light frost it won’t hit them. Also I have covered that five small Pawpaw seedlings, the big dahlia and all the big citrus plants (and tea bush). Also I have now placed all the Lemonquats inside the cottage until next spring.

Last year when I brought in the orchids I, after a while, realised that small red ants (piss ants as we call them, the sting is truly nasty) had a little nest in one of them. One really doesn’t want those in the house so I had to put pesticides in the pot. I thought it might also kill the plant but it is still alive and well and I think the dead ants must have worked as fertiliser Β πŸ™‚ I won’t have a last cup of anything this evening, I’ve been drinking so much coffee today that anything more caffein related will keep me up all night πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
