More mushroom picking.

I had planned on having a long nap today, instead I once again fried mushrooms in butter. The last time that resulted in 1,496 Kg (around 3.3 lbs), today I can put 993 grams (2,2 lbs) in the freezer again 🙂 To be honest I do eat a lot of mushrooms but I don’t think I’ll pick any more unless I know they taste delicious, like chanterelles or hedgehog mushrooms. I also got a mushroom house from my neighbours that will produce a lot of mushrooms all winter long 🙂

The sun did actually show itself, for around five minutes 🙂 🙂 and the rain did arrive but not until just now, a short shower passed by and that was it. I guess more rain will come and we do need it so I’m not complaining. All in all it has been a rather pleasant day, it reached 20C (68F) and even though we’ve had strong winds here most of it never reached my garden. The neighbours cottage and garage took it all and it will be even better when they have extended their cottage because that will most likely block almost all winds that sometimes reach us when winds comes from south west to north west 🙂 Nothing will still block the nasty eastern winds during winter though so perhaps I should plant some conifers on that side 🙂

The monster still refused to go outside until long after lunch but the dogs didn’t seem to care at all, so I doubt it was a wolf nearby. Could be wild hogs as well of course, the dogs have been looking very interested towards the forest behind the dog yard. Well they can’t see anything there since they stand in the garden but I guess they smell something.

I think it is time to make a pot of tea and perhaps I’ll have a sandwich or two as well. The Monster is sleeping on old Novas favourite spot here beside me and the dogs have found a place in my bed I think. I can’t see them from here but since none of them is in their big basket they really can’t be elsewhere. It is a bit too late in the day for me to join them, either I’ll be sleeping till tomorrow or wake up in the middle of the night not being able to fall asleep again 🙂

These violets were planted in the early summer at the cottage which is for sale and they’ve just continued to stay in bloom! I better get me some of those next year 🙂

    So many mushrooms! My daughter has been going to the mountains to collect mushrooms. It will be nice if it starts raining down here, we will be able to find mushrooms around here too.

    We hhave been having a drought here, with just a tiny bit of rain. It is sad to see so many plants suffering from the drought. Our various berries are mostly dry and hard. The only nice ones are by the streams or in well-watered gardens. Can’t go into people’s gardens to pick berries, though 😁

      We didn’t have any mushrooms here until the rains started to arrive and now we have them everywhere 🙂
      We’ve also had a drought and a really hot summer. I think the vegetation managed it better around here since there’s a huge bog starting behind my garage, so the vegetation has had water for a longer time despite the drought. Still it’s very dry despite all the rain that has been falling.
      The raspberries dried out and we didn’t get especially many blueberries or lingo berries either.
