We’ve had really mixed weather this week.

We’ve had very mixed weather here this week, anything from sunny and Scandinavian hot to almost chilly and heavy rain. Today however has been rather nice, cool and sunny morning, a few hours with cloudy weather and now sunny and just enough warm. Strong winds blowing all wee though.

Wee went down to the creek this morning. I didn’t see more than two deer from a long distance but the dogs heard lots of animals moving. They were on high alert the entire time 🙂 🙂 There are a few more flies in the forest now, I guess the rain helped with that. Still not even close to how it used to be here. It looks however that it’s very local, the lack of flies and wasps I mean. Other people say they haven’t had this many flies in years and apparently there are lots of wasps in the village where I mostly work.

So now I don’t feel that worried about we not having any of them 🙂 Lots of butterflies now though, unfortunately the Cabbage moth and the cabbage butterfly have found my winter broccoli. I do want more butterflies but I also like to have some of that broccoli myself, so I’ve had to destroy lots of their eggs but I have also left some plants so that some of them will grow up to new butterflies 🙂 To be honest, if the broccoli plants gives lots to harvest I won’t be able to eat it all anyway 🙂 🙂 The cabbage butterfly also leave eggs on nasturtiums but they seems to be forgotten now when I have all these broccoli plants 🙂 🙂

I haven’t made any dinner today, I haven’t been especially hungry to be honest. Instead I had a piece of Småländsk cheesecake and after writing this I’ll have a newly baked French roll or two with spots sausages, tomatoes from the greenhouse and some slices of cheese over it all 🙂 I will of course also have that last cup of tea for the day at the same time 🙂

    Our weather has been pretty changeable. Heatwaves for 2 or 3 days, then cooler. But no rain! There are many forest fires around our state, but we only had about 3 smoky days. Poor Monty isn’t too happy about the really hot days, he doesn’t handle the heat really well, and he isn’t too sure about walks before the sun is up. But he is getting old, I guess.I now have more squash than we can use. I have given away most of it, happy recipients? The tomatoes still are being green but they are very large.I have family visiting, so that keeps me busy!

      Hi Carol!

      Thankfully we have at least had some rain but far away from enough. I’ve only heard about a few smaller forest fires here thankfully, seems like people finally understand to be careful with fire in heatwaves. I do hope You’ll get the help from rain when it comes to the fires!

      We’re out as early as we can here ti get a cooler walk but then we instead get soaking wet because of the morning dew 🙂 🙂

      Not a single green squash here but it looks like I’ll finally get a couple of spaghetti squashes. The tomatoes on the other hand gives away one or two ripe ones every day now. I do like the big ones but the smaller tomatoes taste so much more.

    Please remember to write about how you prepare your spaghetti squash. I haven’t bought one in a long time, but I have never made anything with it so delicious that I wanted to ever do it again, so I’m interested in recipes.

    Happy to report that we had lots of storms many days recently, they said some dropping as much as 6 inches of rain an hour, so they have declared the drought in my area over for now. That means I can wash the cars, but with humidity at 90% and the temperature feeling like over 100F, I won’t be doing anything outside right now.

    I know I’ve seen hundreds of your photos since finding your blog, but I am always amazed how you always come up with angles in places that I think I have never seen before.

    Wondering what the roof in your third photo today is made of. Is it metal? And is that rust or leaves on pine needles on it? One part of my roof has green moss because it’s under trees and never gets full sun, so I’m always interested in roofs that aren’t perfect.

      I will 🙂 I have no idea myself but the internet will help me with that in seconds after I’ve asked 🙂

      Isn’t that typical 🙂 Finally the drought is over but then the humidity kicks in and one can’t do anything anyway 🙂 🙂

      It is tricky to take photos since we only can walk in a very little area without Alma going nuts 🙂 So we won’t have any walk tomorrow because hunters will stay out there all day to hunt Roe deer buck. The hunters here always check how many bucks we have because they don’t want to shoot too many, so last year they skipped it totally. I think they might hunt for one or as most two this year.

      That is old tiles made from clay, lots of moss and lichens growing on it. The moss looks like that since we’ve had so little rain and the sun burns it from when it rise until just after noon I think. One rain and it will look bright green again 🙂
