Finally some rain.

We did get some rain last night, nice spring rain last evening and by the looks of it most likely drizzle for the rest of the night. Well we got rain and that’s the important thing. They’re guessing there’s a 95% chance of rain every day until Saturday night.

The crabapple trees are always the first to bloom.
The monster decided to not fool us today.

They also say it’ll become warmer again, it didn’t even reach 10C (50F) today and it’ll be much the same tomorrow. I want the rain but does it have to be so cold when it does? We’ve been spoiled here lately do today felt bone chilling cold 🙂

We never came out on our morning walk today but we did have our just before noon walk 🙂 The wild life didn’t expect us at that time so today we saw plenty of roe deer and I know the dogs saw something because they both stared at the same point looking really excited 🙂 It wasn’t that bad being out on our walk despite it wasn’t especially warm but I guess that’s because there was no wind.

Not a single tick on any of the dogs after the walk, normally I would have scrubbed yarrow on them but I’ve used almost all giant yarrow I have in my garden so I guess the grass still was too wet after the rain. Then again since deer and badgers walk around in the garden at night the risk of getting ticks is almost as big here.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day. I toasted a couple of slices of bread and was supposed to have them with the tea but it smelled so nice that I ate them almost immediately 🙂 🙂 🙂 There are new flowers on my cherry tree so perhaps I’ll get a few cherries after all, then again the last night with frost hasn’t been yet so maybe not 🙂

We might get frost already tonight and then it’s bye bye to cherries.

Have a great day!

The deer do look surprised. Perhaps you should have phoned ahead. 😀

It’s been cool and windy still. I think we had one nice day last week when the sun shone and the wind was bearable. It also rained. I think it’s going to rain some more tomorrow. Oddly enough, we are still in a level 2 drought situation even though it seems like it’s been raining a lot.

My side lawn is becoming sort of meadow-y. First there was a lot of chionadoxa. Those have gone by and are replaced by purple and white violets, purple ajuga (?), lily of the valley, dame’s rocket, and celandine. None of these are native and all of them are invasive but they don’t seem to be popping up anywhere else. There are different grasses in there now, too. One kind has red stems and flower heads which looks interesting but probably horrifies any of the lawn companies that work in other yards on the street. I’ll mow it soon. Probably.

      Hi Caryn!

I think she was 🙂 Alma was for once really quiet (and thankfully never saw the deer) so she didn’t see us until we were almost by her side. She stayed at the same spot just looking at us until we had walked away.

Slightly warmer here today and lots of rain, oddly enough very weak wind 🙂 I now have five water barrels almost completely full with rain water, each can take up to 84,4 US gallons. It will continue to rain almost all weekend they’re guessing and I won’t complain 🙂 Still this will not reach the ground water, everything will be sucked up by the vegetation.

That side lawn sounds just amazing! That grass sounds beautiful and don’t be in a hurry to mow it down 🙂

I’m never in a hurry to mow. 😀 My now old battery mower doesn’t handle that mowing stuff very well anymore and neither do I. The mower probably needs a new battery and blade.

        🙂
The batteries do give up after a while, I have a cord to mine and that gives up as well when I mow it with the grass 🙂 🙂 🙂
