A bit chilly today.

The morning was quite nice here despite it being a bit chilly. The temperature had dropped down below 0C (32F) during the night but there was no wind thankfully. A nice fog had paced itself in and around our village but there was unfortunately some misty rain mixed in it. The birds didn’t seem to care though, they sang at full volume. More and more migrating birds are arriving now so it does feel like spring.

I had a short walk by myself before we went out on our morning walk, well not completely true because I had a mouse sitting in the box trap waiting to be released again 🙂 Since Alma wasn’t with me I could come rather close to three Roe deer that graced in a field. Unfortunately I had a smaller lens so no close ups on them. Alma is mostly behaving better, the whining is nothing compared to how it used to be, she doesn’t scream like insane as soon as she see something moving and mostly she doesn’t pull the leash as hard as she used to. That however doesn’t mean my right shoulder isn’t in pain after a walk, she still pulls but not as much and as hard 🙂 Also she’s only calms if we walk where we always walk, any detour and she’s back to screaming lounging forward and whining like insane 🙂 🙂 🙂

Anyway we walked down to the creek and followed it down-stream. The water level seems to rise again so I do wonder why the ground water is as low as it is. We’ve had some rain but as worse it was a gentle spring rain 🙂 Well we had a winter that reminded of the ones back in the days, perhaps we’ll get a summer that will remind us of the ones back in the days as well? Very cool and lots of rain 🙂

I would have made some rose-hip soup now because the weather has changed towards chilly and windy. I don’t have any rose-hip powder though so perhaps I’ll make some warm cocoa instead, work really well on cold days as well 🙂 No more tea today though, I ran way too much yesterday and had to pay fir it during the night 🙂 🙂 The dogs stayed in bed so I didn’t open the door to check if there were any wild hogs outside 🙂

The third photo shows a glass greenhouse standing at the now empty cottage. Next photo shows the closest neighbours greenhouse with insulating plastic. We were all very happy that it didn’t blow away in the storm, it stands at the moment in the absolute right place in front of their garage where the wind couldn’t reach it and the next photo shows my greenhouse with just a thin plastic protecting the plants. It is fastened in to the ground but also stood in the right place protected from the wind by my neighbours cottage 🙂

Have a great day!

Christer, it looks like you are finally getting some better weather, rain instead of snow (your not favorite weather). The same is happening here in nashua, NH, as we have an all day rain forecast for today. It has been quite a while since this has happened as most weather events this winter have, so far, involved snow. In fact we had a dusting of snow on Saturday which was enough to coat the trees and river bank after a few days of near 70 F temps during the previous weeks. People were walking around in short sleeve shirts for a day or so, then back to winter wear by the weekend.

There’s no snow forecast for the rest of this week but temps will not be spring-like, only in the 40s at best. I am making a pot of chicken soup and homemade bread, perfect for a rainy day of apt cleaning.

      Hi Beatrice!

At least the temperature is stabilising so we don’t have below 32 during the days, nights however hovers just above that. Nightfrost will come but at least for now it looks like we’ll be without it 🙂 I do have short sleeve when I’m in the garden 🙂 it’s quite nice there since the wind usually doesn’t reach the garden at all 🙂

Oh that sounds yummy! Long time since I had chicken soup. I do however have a chicken in the freezer so perhaps 🙂

We had solid rain yesterday. It started before dawn with heavy blowing rain which stopped after awhile. Then it started raining very politely and continued that way off and on for the rest of the day. Everything was soggy. Today the sun is out, the wind is howling, and the temperature is dropping from the mid 40s F into the mid 20s F. It’s yoyo season again.

So good that the greenhouses made it through the winter in good shape. You all planned well.

      Hi Caryn!

You really have yoyo weather! It won’t fall down to that cold even during the nights here, at least not for the coming ten days.
The heavy rain fell along the coast where my brother lives and he wasn’t happy 🙂 🙂 🙂 the little we got barely wet the ground.

I did actually think that through pretty good before I put up the greenhouse 🙂 Winds from south to north can’t reach it there and even winds from east will have problems moving it since my big apple tree slows the winds down there. My neighbours will fasten their greenhouse towards their kitchen deck, good idea because all kinds of wind can hit it there.
