Β
Less cold today but we’ve had a nasty, bitterly cold wind blowing almost all day so it has been rather unpleasant to be outdoors. It was totally calm on our morning walk though so that was nice. I think I might have a fever now, I woke up last night felling awfully hot but my bedroom is anything but and today I’ve had a slight fever and sneezed a lot all day. I’m not sitting here feeling sorry for myself though but I do hope this isn’t the beginning of something worse like what my neighbours had last week.

Nothing special is happening here at the moment. Β I have been thinking on Christmas decorations for some reason. I haven’t had a lot of that because cats and having rather big dogs that picked anything in their reach and chewed on them if they liked the taste π π I do have a nice plastic Christmas tree and I’ve used it for two years but now I have a cat again π π I do remember having a nativity set back in the days that I liked a lot but then one day I couldn’t find it, turns out my mother had given it away without asking me, quite common behaviour from her I’m sorry to say.

So I went online to see what they had there. Lots of different ones and they cost a fortune! Some I think I would be able to do better myself to be honest. I did find one I liked meant to be hanging on a wall I guess but it is oddly enough supposed to be filled with water?? Is it a kind of snow globe perhaps and every time one shakes it snow will fall down over the people? π π π To be honest, I have seen worse and I think that one would be the one working best because it would hang like a painting on the wall and the monster wouldn’t care about it. I’ll better check it once again π

I took an extra look at it and no there’s no snow in it π π π It’s called a lantern with LED lights in it but why the water? Also rather expensive to be honest. Well I’ll keep on looking or perhaps I should try to make one myself even though making the humans and animals will be very tricky π π I do of course have the advent candlestick I made from clay last year. Β It’s not the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen but I did it myself, perhaps I should order some clay again and make the nativity set π π I will at least have lots of fun making it π π π

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and then go out on the net to see whether I’ll buy some clay π π
Have a great day!

Hi mandolin mama!
I was so glad that I managed to find my camera and get that and another shot before she decided it was enough π π
It’s winter so we really can’t do much about it, just suffer and wait until not turns again π π π

Once I had made a Christmas tree with branches and leaves I had picked up outside. I used raphia to tighten the branches together in the shape of a triangle, and then I decorated with leaves of different colors, ribbons and all I could find that could decorate (even earrings and armbands).

Hi Poppy!
That one I would have liked to se π Making one oneself usually makes the best ones and since I like non traditional ones I’m sure I would have loved it π

Hi Christer, I couldn’t post the photo of the “tree” here, so I put it in an answer to your Bluesky post

I have been pleasantly surprised by my youngest cat Tony’s behavior around Christmas. He never bothers the tree. It’s Roc, the 10-year-old with the mind of a kitten, who I have to watch.
I hang stocking with their names on them on the fireplace, and put some toys and treats in them (some of the toys old that they never play with, they don’t know the difference). And they seem to know which stocking is theirs and try to reach only theirs, which makes me wonder if cats have been hiding the fact that they can read.
I would suggest maybe putting up a very small tree, maybe 3-4 feet, tops, on the floor or a table. Then decorate with things that won’t break (I’ve collected nearly 200 cat ornaments over the years, mostly unbreakable, because I once had a cat who smashed glass balls like crazy). Then see what Sarah does with it. If she knocks it over, no big deal to pick it up.
But your idea of a Nativity scene is good, too!

Hi catsworking!
I actually have a small plastic tree just perfect for the living room table. I doubt the lights work any longer though. I used to have decorations made from straw but none of those survived the animals π π π
For my big tree most of the decorations were made from papier mache with traditional Christmas drawings on them. I doubt I’ll ever have the chance to use the old glass ones again π π π but anything reaching the floor is dog property I’m afraid π π π
