I haven’t done much today or yesterday to be honest, well I drove to the store in KvΓ€num and was surprised over how much it costed but I really shouldn’t have because everything is nasty expensive now days. Didn’t think I bought that much but then again I did but a quite big chunk of cheese and Wiener sausages, they do cost more than the others but it is worth it π π Also I bought a few batteries and even though they’re not especially big the price on them is so after a while I realised it wasn’t that bad after all π π π

I have two old dvd players, one that doesn’t open up so I can put a dvd in it and one that do open up but for some reason doesn’t put out the sound when it should so people can talk like crazy but no sound, however it does come after a while at the wrong place π π So I had bought a new cheap one to replace them. Well something didn’t work as it should on that one either, it might be as simple as something is wrong with the HDMI cable. I’ve tried everything, even the old screen to my last computer. I was in the kitchen when I tried it but nothing happened. So a bit annoyed I ripped out the cable to the screen and would bring it back from where I fetched it. Well I didn’t rip out the right cable so the dvd player fell down on the floor in a quite high speed.

So that one doesn’t work either now π π π That’s when I remembered my old laptops have dvd players so I brought one of them down to the living room and put in a dvd. All worked just fine until it didn’t. So since I now was a bit more annoyed I hit my fist over the laptop and everything stopped and the screen froze π π π Nothing worked so since I do need this laptop when I want to write out documents for the road association meetings I shut it off and then on again. Now the dvd player works just as it should and everything else seems to be working fine as well π π π

When I was in KvΓ€num I also visited my old work friends and I talked with my old apprentice about that I need to get a banked on my new phone and that’s always tricky as best. so he showed me what to do and that worked so easily that it surprised me, so now I don’t have to worry about the old phone shutting down again because now I have it on my new phone π Yesterday we had muggy weather with rain on and off but today the sun shone all day long π Also the sun warmed up the cottage so much that I could turn off the radiators π The muggy and rainy weather will return again tomorrow though. We do need it but days get so boring when we have to stay indoors all the time, then again I can now watch my dvd’s so that’s better π π I bought all seasons of an old favourite of mine called “A town called Eureka” it has not aged bad at all π

It is time to give the animals their food and after that I guess I’ll watch a couple of programs on my old laptop π Of course I’ll make a pot of tea before I start π

Have a great day!
I relate to your technical troubles. My little Dell laptop I love may be signaling to me that it’s planning to die.
Sometimes when I turn it on, I get a white screen and some DOS message about the adapter not being recognized or able to charge the computer, but then it boots up fine. So, maybe the cable I’m using is going bad? My cat Roc has chewed it in places.
Then yesterday when I turned on, I had no mouse function, so I put a new battery in the mouse and that didn’t fix it. I hate using the touchpad and have it turned off, but with no mouse navigation either, I couldn’t get to the setting to turn the touchpad back on, so I thought I was screwed. I restarted the computer about 4X and now everything is working fine again and no weird messages. At least for today.
I really hate when this stuff starts happening. My big desktop computer can’t be upgraded to Windows 11 for some reason only Microsoft knows, and now Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows 10, so weird little things are happening in the background on that computer which means, press a key, wait 60 seconds for it to respond. This goes on for quite a while and is infuriating, though I have never hit the computer. I have struck the keyboard in frustration, though!
When I have to buy new computers, I think I’m going to go Apple and get Windows out of my life. They will cost 3-4X more, but if they last long enough to be my last computers, it’s worth it to be rid of Windows. How it got to be the global standard, I will never understand.

Hi catsworking!
I guess a chewed cable could be a problem π π but the mouse problem is perhaps the true sign of the coming end of the computer I’m afraid. I hope the weird messages stay away, I personally hates when I have to change my computers!
Also updates!!! They always come when one doesn’t need them but when they are needed they never happen. I bought a used iMac really cheap and I must admit I like it, thankfully one can use, with an adjustment in the computer, the same keyboard as I had to my PC’s so no big change there thankfully. Mac computers seems to have a longer lifespan than the pc’s do so if You can buy a refurbished one for a lower cost why not.
I am still surprised that the dvd player in my old laptop still works as it should after I hit it hard π π π
Well it is a cheaper system and, to be honest, more easy to understand for most beginners. I do like my Mac but sometimes I wonder how they were thinking when it came to user friendly π π π

I didn’t think about the keyboard on the big computer. I use a split keyboard because I’ve had cysts on both wrists forever, and the less back-and-forth motion I do keeps them happy.
I used to work in an office and used both a Mac and a PC and found the Mac very accommodating to the PC, but Microsoft making zero effort to get along with the Mac.
Now you have me thinking that maybe I could get by with just a new (or refurbished) Mac laptop, and hook it to my separate split keyboard when I need to do heavy typing (I’m a writer), and I could get rid of my Windows 10 desktop computer and not replace it. Hmmm…

I’ve seen those kinds of keyboards but never tried any myself, probably because my hands and wrists are the only things actually working as they should π π π
I always buy refurbished telephones and computers/laptops and Fromm the same business because they have always worked great. The problems I have had was always my doings π π especially the phones that I keep on dropping all the time π π
I think that is a good idea You have, also one tends to sit better in front of a computer to be honest. The laptops are sleazy to move around that one tends not to think about how back and neck will feel after a while π π

I sincerely feel for you and your computer frustrations. I think, when I was in IT, that some of the users did hit or throw their computers or laptops, but no one would ever admit to it.
Cheers!

Hi Carol!
Yes computer frustrations do bring out the worst in us π π π
This time it seems to have worked because the dvd player still works as it should π π
