We’ve had such a nice day, cool and semi sunny morning and the rest of the day sunny, warm and very windy. The few flies that did try to annoy us blew away and the morning was cool enough to keep the moose flies at a distance as well, they are really bad flyers so if it is cool or chilly in the morning they’ll stay where they are.

Next time I’ll bring something so I can collect some Angelica seeds, I want it in my garden πŸ™‚

I am now ready for a five day long period with rain, I drove to the supermarket this morning so now I don’t have to do it when the weather gets more boring. I mowed the lawn as well. The rain we’ve had made the grass grow but not as much as I feared but enough to let me know that after five days with rain it’ll be so long and wet that it will only become a green mess in the mower. It didn’t take long after I started the mower until my neighbour did it as well πŸ™‚ Later on I could hear two or more villagers starting theirs too. Better do it now even if it isn’t necessary than doing it later when it is too long and wet.

I’ve heard that there are fewer and fewer Red Toadstools in the world but here we can find them everywhere. My favourite mushroom because it’s so beautiful. Also we have small paper mache toadstools in our advent candlesticks and some even in their Christmas trees πŸ™‚

I’ve found a small hard plastic pond I once had in the garden, before I dug the big one. There’s a thin crack in it so water flows out pretty quickly but I started to wonder if I can fix it with a bicycle tire repair set? Β The reason I started to think about it is because this year I’ve seen unusually many frogs and toads in my garden so why not have a little pond again?I really would like to have a big one but building a big pond is anything but cheap. Then again the question comes to any gardener, where should I have it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Β One really wants to be able to see it when walking out into the garden, otherwise I actually have a few places since it is so small. Well I have winter to think about it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Besides that I’ve done very little today. I’ll soon have my last cup of tea for the day and I’ll see if there’s anything worth watching on tv but I doubt that. The sky is slowly being cowered with a grey clod cover, the sun shines through every now and again but they’re saying that when we wake up tomorrow the sky will be evenly grey and drops will start falling. I think tomorrow will be a perfect day for napping, long time since I did that so it’s about time πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

  1. I’ve not seen any red toadstools around my area. Lots of cool shelf mushrooms on some of the trees. I’ve even seen those growing flat on the ground where the stump of some tree is hidden. No puffballs this year so far. It hasn’t really been wet enough. No ticks either which is no bad thing.

We’ve had lovely weather for early fall. It’s just the right temperature during the day and just the perfect temperature for sleeping with the windows open at night. I took the air conditioner out of the window yesterday. Always a risky job as it’s so bulky and awkward to hold. Easy to drop it out the window or on my toes. But it’s done. And there was no giant orb weaver spider hanging in her web in the dining room this morning so I didn’t bring one inside like last year.

A lovely reddish brown coyote dropped by 6:30 AM Wednesday morning. Piki and I were out on the front lawn when I saw the coyote walking up through my side yard. I pulled Piki inside and watched the coyote from the porch. He checked out the street and then trotted past my house and back down my neighbor’s driveway. It was the same coyote that sneaked by us a couple of weeks ago.

I think the bicycle repair kit would work but would want to know what chemicals are in it. Frogs and toads are very sensitive to some of those things. Maybe whatever it is that is used to seal aquariums would be safer?

    1. Hi Caryn!

I like those shelf mushrooms and there are lots of old ones growing on dead trees in the bog, none close to the ground though πŸ™‚ It has been so dry here that until the last rain we had almost no but after they pop up everywhere and with the rain we’ve had today and most likely will have the coming five or so days we’ll get more. With a bit of luck it will be so wet in the grass that the ticks stays on the ground because we’ve had quite a lot lately.

Better out the window than on the toes πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
I don’t need to bring in spiders πŸ™‚ They visit ally themselves but come to think of it no orbs here either.
I still have my bedroom window open but the temperature will drop slightly so perhaps I’ll have to shut it again.

I haven’t seen any wild animals except birds and roe deer lately but I can see that the fox cubs are healthy and strong, they tend to poo on the gravel road down to the creek πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I actually started to wonder about that too, I think I have a tube with that kind of silicone somewhere. I better check that or perhaps just order a new pre made pond, well it depends on what they cost though πŸ™‚
