My first strawberries :-)

Β

We’re having a really nice afternoon/ evening. Just below 20C (68F), a weak wind blowing (therefore a lots of flies flying around), birds singing and I’ve had my two first strawberries πŸ™‚ To be honest it would have been better to wait a day or so because they were pretty sour πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The cattle are now walking in the fields again so we can’t walk everywhere we want to at the moment, like following the creek down-stream. Also there are so manytickso now that high grass is a no no to walk in. Last time we did I picked eight from Malkolm as soon as we came home and six from Alma. I once had two dogs that had a bad reaction on those drops one drop in the neck so I try to avoid using that on my dogs, especially a stressed dog like Alma. Thankfully I do pick off most of them after our walks.

They say our weather will be on and off when it comes to rain, we do need it but I do hope that the temperature doesn’t drop down to arctic temperatures again, after all it is summer now πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Last week, the night before midsummers eve the night was clear and it wasn’t dark at all. The sky was deep red closer to the ground, then a thin layer with orange slowly turning to a pale light blue colour. Not a star could be seen and we had so much light that I didn’t need to use the high beam on the lights. Unfortunately that changes quickly now but it was nice to drive home at night without it bring pitch black.

I’ve just pad my bills and I always feel a bit sad doing it but then it changes to happy since I know I won’t have any more bills until next month πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It is time for that last cup of tea for the day, I wish I had some cookies but I ate the last one on Sunday. I don’t have the energy to bake any new ones and most of the gluten free ones one can by is an abomination to any living thing πŸ™‚ I wonder if they actually do taste what they bake or that they really don’t care because it’s not their fault we can’t eat normal cookies πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

  1. Sarah looks all grown up. I wish they stayed cute little kittens longer.

I got a COVID booster shot yesterday and, as always, it made me feel horrible today. Fever, headache, aches all over. It reminds me of how you say you feel when you get sick. I hope it means I’m building lots of COVID resistance.

They say the new strain going around is called “razor-blade throat” because it gives you a horrible sore throat, which I hope to avoid. The pharmacist told me a newer vaccine is supposed to come out in 2 months. I can’t keep up.

    1. Hi catsworking!

She does but I think it’s good because otherwise I would have too many kittens here πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I don’t dare taking any boosts any more, the last one made me so sick I actually thought I might not make it.

Covid seems to mutate more often than any cold like viruses do, It sounds as if new vaccines comes at least twice a month now days.

  2. I feel the same way about bill paying. But it is satisfying to watch the Bills Due balance go down to zero faster than the bank balance. πŸ™‚

Sarah is certainly turning into a beautiful cat with very striking coat pattern. How fortunate it was that you found her.

I was reading your previous post about the peach trees not surviving Swedish winter or summer for that matter. They are probably thinking “We’re not in Georgia anymore, Toto.”

Here it has been extremely hot and humid for 4 days. It was 100F yesterday and in the high 90’s the previous days. To add to the misery, the grass pollen was extremely high. So along with sweating as soon as I went outside, my eyes and nose were also streaming. To avoid that I had to spend all the time inside with AC running.

    1. Hi Caryn!

      πŸ™‚ You’re so right πŸ™‚

The fun thing is that there’s another cat looking just like her up at the farm, have node if it is female or male though but I did almost hit it with my car yesterday πŸ™‚ It would have been impossible to not find her, that cat can truly scream loud πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ To be honest, I think winters in Georgia are worse than here and I really don’t understand how they can survive at all because they do get all kinds of diseases and funguses πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The rain keeps most of the pollen calm now thankfully πŸ™‚ If I had had an AC I wouldn’t have left my home at all in those temperatures πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Thankfully I don’t have any grass pollen problems but I’m pretty sure I will as I get older πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  3. Yes, it also that same time of the month here…bill paying, but as you said, Christer, the happy feeling is when it’s over until next month. The first strawberry looked nice, but too bad it didn’t taste sweet and hope that when you get more the taste will be better.

it’s been a long time since we have been walking in the nearby park as with all the rainy weekends and hot weather, there are mosquitoes and ticks plenty. It’s seems that Sara has grown up from the monster kitten to a lovely looking nearly full grown cat. Alma and Malkom seem to nit bother with her when they are β€œplaying” together.

    1. Hi Beatrice!

It is a nice feeling πŸ™‚
I was too eager to taste that first strawberry πŸ™‚ The coming ones will stay a bit longer before I pick them πŸ™‚

Still very few mosquitoes and biting flies here though, the rain that has fallen has sunken down in to the ground before any of those nasties have hatched πŸ™‚ But we’ll get more rain the coming days so I guess it’s just a matter of time.

She will be a year old some time in August but she will always be a monsterkitten πŸ™‚
Actually both of them can stop playing if they see her and then chase her instead πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
