Warmer winds.

So today was the last day with cold weather and sunshine for quite some time it seems, I’ll miss the sunshine but not the temperatures 🙂 The low pressure is arriving with a roaring wind now and it might even be as warm as 10C (50F) already on Saturday.

This morning however was still pretty cold and the sun shone as well. Thankfully once again totally wind free (it arrived later in the day) so it was quite nice being outside walking. Alma behaved reasonable well but Malkolm pulled the leash instead. He’s not that big and strong though so that isn’t so bad to be honest but if Alma isn’t allowed to do it neither is he. I must start thinking about the possibility that the tutor on my kidney has grown and that I’ll get treatment during the summer so having dogs pulling the leash when I most likely won’t be especially strong is a bad idea. However we aren’t there yet so perhaps I can make them both calm down by then.

I’m so lucky that my neighbour works in a supermarket now when Alma is in heat and the shot Malkolm had doesn’t work properly yet because I realised that the cat litter wouldn’t last for long so she brought home a bag for me plus I suddenly had a craving for some soda, I normally don’t drink soda unless I have a head ache so it will be something with caffein in it. Today I wanted something else, so now I have pear soda at home. I didn’t think they still made that so when she said they sold it I really wanted it 🙂 🙂 🙂 I remember when being at my mormors’ (grandmother on my mothers side) I was always allowed to go downstairs to get a soda and I usually chased between raspberry soda or pear soda 🙂 I was also always allowed to take an ice cream if I wanted to 🙂

The monster kitten was allowed to be without the cone of shame for a couple of hours today and she really enjoyed it. Tomorrow it’ll be eight days after surgery so I’ll allow her to be without it even longer and on Saturday she will not have it any more. It should be totally healed already now I think but it might still be a bit fragile I guess so better be safe than sorry. The scar doesn’t seem to bother her at all though   but to be honest neither does the cone 🙂 The only thing is that the the place where the cone is tied together seems to be itching, as soon as it goes off the itching stops.

Today I won’t have that last cup of tea for the day, instead I’ll have some pear soda 🙂

Have a great day!

  1. I don’t think we have pear soda. Glad to hear Sarah is done with cone days. When my cats wore collars (Tony as a kitten ended that by refusing to wear one, then they all rebelled), they must have itched, too, because Max would scratch his own neck under the collar.

We didn’t get the big 3-6″ of snow they were forecasting yesterday. Maybe 3-4″. They said there were accidents everywhere, which always happens. People in SUVs and pickups think they can drive through anything. Wrong. This morning my road was bad and I heard cars spinning out, but this afternoon it’s clean and dry. I’ll wait till tomorrow to clean my car, hoping it all melts by then. I hate scraping cars. By mid next week, they say 60s F.

Do you have Cesar Millan on TV in Sweden? His latest show is “Better Human, Better Dog” and he’s had others. He’s Mexican and known as “The Dog Whisperer.” He trains dogs out of bad habits. You can find a lot on YouTube.

OK, here’s a link to a quick video (hope it works – I just entered “Cesar Millan leash pulling” in YouTube), but it looks like he’s got a lot of videos. I’ve watched him for years and what he does is something you could easily learn and do yourself. Dogs are amazing and obedient when you show them that YOU are the pack leader, not them.

    1. Hi cats working!

I’m pretty sure they itch a lot, no more scratching after it has been removed 🙂

We’ve had it unusually warm here and I don’t miss the cold weather but I guess the risk of having snow falling will stay until late April. Back in the days it wasn’t unusual to have winter in to late April or even early May 🙂 🙂 There was however a snow storm further north that was so bad that we had the biggest car crash here ever, I think it was 120 cars involved! Low pressure after low pressure will hit us now and I will not complain about it if it means we’ll have warmer weather 🙂

I have no idea what channel shows Cesar now days but we can see him here. I used to watch him when he was on one of the bigger channels though. The links work but since I don’t have any speakers on my computer I can’t hear whet they say 🙂 I need to buy speakers soon 🙂

  2. That is the best kind of mormor: One who lets you go downstairs and pick a soda and an ice cream. Mine gave us M&M’s candies if we were good. They were supposed to melt in your mouth not in your hand but the food coloring in the candy shells always came off on your hands. It’s a good memory, though.

Today was the first “warm” day we’ve had in a long while. We could actually have our normal walk around the neighborhood which we haven’t done for about 3 weeks. It’s been way too cold with gale force winds to stay out more than the time it takes to do all the business. This morning it was 10F but the sun was brilliant with no wind and it got all the way up to 30F by 2:30PM. I didn’t even need a sweater. Just a long sleeve shirt and a quilted vest.

    1. Hi Caryn!

She was and when mortar said we couldn’t eat any berries in the garden because of just spraying it all with pesticides she told us that hadn’t done that for 25 years so we could eat as much as we pleased 🙂 🙂 He wanted her to make jam and other things but she didn’t want to 🙂 🙂 Her candy on the other side was something no one wanted to have, odd taste and usually glued together after melting 🙂 🙂

We’ve had it unusually warm here with up to 50F and I like it 🙂 Haven’t been able to enjoy it especially much since I have a horrible cold and a fever that comes and goes.I noticed that the first Croci are showing and that my snowdrops are almost in bloom 🙂

  3. That family of yours keeps you hopping! Glad to hear Sara may be past her days of The Cone. And of course Alma and Malkolm are trading behaviors. I’m hoping they get past the leash pulling.
Are you strong enough to walk them with their leashes tied to your belt? Sometimes that can be a good training mechanism to keep them near you and not pull.
I always love your photos. They have a dream-like quality to them.

    1. Hi Goodport!

      🙂
Sara is really happy to be rid of the cone but I think the dogs might have preferred if she kept it for a while longer 🙂

The problem is my rheumatism since it is in my spine, I can only imaging what that would do if she just rush away 🙂 🙂 🙂 Alma has learned how to walk properly but quite often she see something and tries to run to catch it, so if she hadn’t done that she would be pretty good.

I’m glad You like them 🙂

  4. Glad you have good neighbors to help when you can’t get to the store, Christer. The par soda actually sounds like something I would try as well, as raspberry is a favorite of mine when I have had soda. Patrick prefers a brand specific to this area, called Moxie, which is an acquired taste for some people as it is like root beer and licorice together. Other people have said it’s like motor oil.

    1. Hi Beatrice!

They are amazing my neighbours! We do help each other as much as we can.

I really like pear soda and I think if You like raspberry soda You’ll like pear soda as well.

We don’t have root beer here so I have no idea what that would taste like and I’ve never heard of Moxie 🙂 🙂 but even though I like licorace as candy I don’t like it mixed with anything else so I guess I wouldn’t like Moxie 🙂 🙂 🙂 Then again I do like Dr Pepper and few others do 🙂 🙂 🙂
