She didn’t like cold snow towards her paws 🙂

I’m pretty sure I have a cold again. I was pretty sure yesterday as well but today I’ve been freezing like a dog on and off. Can’t say that I feel especially sick except for the muscle pain and the occasional moments of freezing. I did get a bit warm when we were out walking but that’s mostly because I’m not especially fit 🙂 🙂 The snow on the ground is still more like ice pebbles so not even my studded shoes get any grip in it, the dogs however have no such problems but they did at least not fall down again 🙂 🙂

We’ve had a really nice day here otherwise, a nasty wind has been blowing but the forest took all of it and we’ve also had a lovely sunshine all day as well. There were lots of animal tracks in the snow and it looked like lots of wild hogs had been moving around and also a few Roe deer. Plus our local fox, the one that has a tendency to poop on the stirs both at my cottage and my neighbors 🙂 The badgers are asleep now but they just sleep during winter, not hibernate, so we sometimes see their tracks as well in the snow.

The wind had been pretty hard, look at that bent Pine!

Sara the cat tries every now and again to run outside when she thinks I don’t see her and she is quick but a bit obvious so I have so far had control. She was close yesterday though so I picked her up and placed her on one of my composts. I could see that she was excited but also see that cold and wet snow isn’t a favourite of hers, she hasn’t tried to run outside after that 🙂 🙂 🙂

It’s time for that last cup of tea and perhaps a french roll with cheese and some kind of marmalade.

Have a great day!

  1. Sorry to read that you are not feeling well, Christer, and hope that some rest will help, although the dogs still need to go out. We finally had a few inches of snow today in Nashua, NH, but we are in PA now visiting family and only had an overnight dusting.

    1. Hi Beatrice!

We have three different things going on here, the flu, mycoplasma and one more thing I can’t remember (perhaps covid?) plus all the common colds of course 🙂 🙂 🙂 so this was expected. It isn’t worse so I’ll keep on holding my thumbs that it continues to stay calm 🙂 🙂 🙂

If one really must have snow dustings are the best 🙂

  2. This is Sara’s first experience with snow. I don’t think any of my 4 cats have ever actually stepped in snow, and when I open the door they show no interest in trying it. However, every morning after I feed them breakfast, they insist I open one window so they can each take a turn checking the weather and making sure the neighborhood is still there.

Lately it has been well below freezing, and their turns have been pretty short so I get to close the window after a few minutes. But they will sit on the sill sideways against the screen until they get cold enough to hop down.

    1. Hi catsworking!

The two cats I had before, Bertil and Teodor loved the snow as young but not at all as old 🙂 Sara wasn’t especially happy when standing in it 🙂 🙂 So I think she doesn’t mind waiting a couple of months before going outside again 🙂

They seems to be wise cats and stay at home where it is nice, warm and safe 🙂
