Sick puppy.

One can make a really good tea substitute from the leafs and flowers from the Fire weed. I realized that I only have two left in my garden and I’ll leave those alone but found another place at the edge of the forest, I think I’ll pick some of those tomorrow if the weather allows.

I became a bit worried after I had come home and Malkolm suddenly threw up all what he just had eaten. I waited a little time and gave him a small treat and it didn’t take long before he threw up that too. Naturally I then started making scenarios in my head that he had eaten something that had gotten stuck and that he would need surgery tomorrow. Just to be sure that it isn’t anything stuck I then boiled some rice and poured in lots of water and gave it to him. He started to eat and then looked at me and I understood what he meat, so I crushed four pieces of his regular food in my mortar and poured out the powder in the rice.

It still inside him well over an hour and a half after he ate it πŸ™‚ I now also know he has a case of really bad stomach because he wanted to go outside and I said to him that if You’re going to throw up I really need to know it so stay indoors, no it wasn’t throwing up he wanted to do and the small after he had the runners on m,y floor is pretty bad πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ve already sent a notice to my team leader that I’ll come in later tomorrow, if the boiled rice and fish I’ll give him stays I’ll come to work, otherwise we’ll go to the vet.

I am however not that worried any more because he has been playing just as wild with Alma for quite some time now and I realized that he also had thrown up in the garden when I saw him eat what was left πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ That’s really gross but that food has stayed down as well πŸ™‚ The thing with Malkolm is that he doesn’t make that awful sound when being sick, it just comes out, so no warning what so ever. Besides all this I must say that the day has been rather good. A bit on the cool side and mostly cloudy but the hours at work passed fairly quickly.

I was sure that last winter had killed my Eastern redbud but then I saw new lafs πŸ™‚ It never grows bigger than this though.

I know it’s hard to see but here are a few of my seed sown apricots.

Alma is sleeping on the floor to my right, Nova is sleeping on the floor to my left and Malkolm is sitting on the stairs half way down to the kitchen πŸ™‚ He does that quite often and it’s like he’s bored but still don’t want to be downstairs all by himself πŸ™‚ Well it is time to go to watch the news and then most likely fall asleep in the recliner πŸ™‚

And here are the two seed sown peaches.
Here are the cuttings (the second round) I took from the Hardy fuchsia, all fuchsias tend to produce flower buds really early and there’s no use in removing them, all that happens is that it will continue to produce even more flower buds and that takes more energy than to just let them stay.

Have a great day!

  1. The joys of a sick dog! I know when Monty starts jumping around with his ears flapping we need to go outside right now, even if I am in deep sleep at night. Groggy, running out the door with bare feet and a coat on, I go back to put on shoes while he disappears in the shrubs. Rice, carrots and a touch of dog food usually do the trick after these episodes.

    1. Hi Carolannie!

Malkolm sometimes, especially at nights bark straight in to my left ear when he really needs to go outside but rarely gives any signals when he needs it during the day. He might go to sit down outside my bathroom but sometimes that just means he wants to be able to see almost the entire bottom floor πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Rice and chicken the coming days, I noticed that the chicken was way much cheaper than any kind of fish in the store πŸ™‚ He is much better today thankfully πŸ™‚

    1. Hi blythedunbar!

I was worried that he had eaten something that blocked the way but it turns out that hew “just” has a really bad stomach at the moment. Much better now but the stomach is still wobbly but the food stays πŸ™‚ The cleaning isn’t nice but I’ll survive πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I don’t think we ever will get a hold Your thumb emoji, probably looks like one would like to punch someone πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  3. Christer,

I hate when ever any of my animals get sick. When Nala and Henry had a fight months back, it was over $2000, mostly for Nala. Cats throw up a lot, usually hair ball driven, but my dogs seldom get sick, but if they do, like you, I am totally concerned for them. When Henry seemed to have a bad stomach, he also got rice for a couple of meals. Henry is food driven so I was quite concerned. Both are seemingly quite healthy now. I swear they’d think Henry was mistreated as he jumps in the air and cries for his dinner as if he hasn’t eaten in days. I guess his morning biscuit and afternoon treats don’t count.

    1. Hi Kat!

Normally when they are older I rarely worry about a throw up but when it comes to puppies everything can go so wrong so fast. He’s much better now though, stomach still wobbly but the food stays where it should after him eating πŸ™‚

Malkolm and Alma behaves the same πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  4. Hope Malkolm is back on his feed now and keeping it down. I had a similar situation last week. For a few days my cat Roc would eat and yak it all right back up, which he never usually does. He didn’t have the shizzles or act sick. He also doesn’t make noise before he pukes, it just comes up and I find it somewhere.

Turned out he was eating too fast. So, I gave him a little food, if he kept it down, he’d get a little more, and so on, until he had a decent meal. Then he was fine.

    1. Hi catsworking!

He is thankfully, still a wobbly stomach but the food stays πŸ™‚

The sound of a puking animals is the most scary sound there is πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ but I still would like that he made them instead of just do it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I think that when Malkolm has a wobbly stomach the puking could be because he eats too fast as well. So yesterday he got the rice twice instead of all at the same time Great to know it wasn’t anything more serious with Roc!

  5. I hope Malkolm continues to feel better and keeps his food down; crossing fingers and holding thumbs! As always, I enjoyed the walk through your garden.
