Am I getting a cold?

So all the photos comes from the folder “For a rainy day”.

I think I’m about to get the cold so many around here already have had, it seems to have gone away after three days so it really doesn’t bother me that much but I sneeze all the time, my entire body hurts and I’m unusually tired all the time.

ย  ย  ย

I’ll have a vacation day tomorrow, I’m going to get x-rayed so they can see if there are any kidney stones left, I really hope there aren’t because I never want to go through that kind of pain again ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s in the afternoon so I could have gone to work if I really wanted to but then again this is my last week there so I took a vacation day instead ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

We had lots of thunder and heavy showers yesterday and both my water barrels that can take up to 325 liters (85,85 gallons US) are now completely full again. More rain is on the way and for a couple of days the temperature will stay around 15C (59F) and then rise slightly again. I have really enjoyed these low temperatures again buy I won’t mind if it goes up a degree or two again. It is however supposed to rain again tomorrow and that’s too bad because I was thinking of bringing a camera to show You what the town looks like, it is actually quite beautiful.

ย  ย  ย  ย

It’s time for a last cup of tea and perhaps an ice cream before I fall asleep in front of the tv ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

We started our morning walk before the sun slowly started to rise up in the sky, around 15C (59F) and it felt like an early summer morning, even some birds sang. I wasn’t sure if there were hunters out in the forest because some of them were here yesterday evening. I wasn’t sure if it was to prepare for today or staying the night to hunt wild hogs and to be honest I was too lazy to check if the sign was up that they put up every time they’re out there, so we had a walk in the village instead. That also guarantees that we wont have to be creeped out by moose flies that has started flying around. I truly hate those flies!

ย  ย  ย

I had hoped for some morning mist and even though I actually saw some it was in a sort of sad way, barely visible and only just above the ground in two places ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ OK one hovered over the old iron age graves and one was hovering over the old stone age tomb but that one was even harder to see. Nova, as always held her own pace, either far behind or far ahead ๐Ÿ™‚ It is like she’s a bit ashamed to walk with us and rather not be seen with the rest of us ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a sorry excuse for a morning mist ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
This one is even harder to see ๐Ÿ™‚
Cranes moving south.

Since then the temperature has risen a lot, still nice outside because of a breeze but it is getting warmer and warmer now. So both the doors downstairs are closed and all drapes are covering the windows and doors to keep the heat outside but both windows upstairs are open because the breeze blows through the entire upstairs. It’s like a cool wind with a warm touch flows around us all.

ย  ย  ย

I made a pie and used the apples from my seed sown apple tree and they really work good for pies. I had some vanilla ice cream to it so I must say that they day became a bit better while eating it ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Not that the day has been bad in any way but pie always make even a good day better ๐Ÿ™‚ Otherwise I’ve done very little besides watering those plants that need watering and I might do that again later today when the sun can’t reach the garden.

ย  ย  ย

It is time to have something to eat and I still have some chicken and potato salad left from yesterday so I’ll share that with the dogs. After that I think I’ll have a short nap before it is time to give the dogs their dinner. Nova also wants to thank for the birthday wishes ๐Ÿ™‚

Cikory.
Foxglove.
Morning glory.
This dahlia doesn’t look like any of the varieties I bought this spring but that’s what I like ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

We aren’t allowed to have perennial Lupines in our gardens any more but these annuals aren’t bad to be honest.

The Hardy Kiwi has decided to start to flower, only it should have done that in spring.
I haven’t seen any butterflies close to the Butterfly bush yet ๐Ÿ™‚ I do hope they’ll come before the frost takes them.

Today is her 18th birthday :-)

18 and still going strong ๐Ÿ™‚

So this little lady moved here around 16,5 years ago. An animal rescue organisation called me one day, not especially long after I had had to say goodbye to my “little” girl Erna (she was in the same size as Alma is but the smallest in the pack ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ) They asked me if she could come to me because the previous older owner had been hit by cancer. The organisation knew me because they got all the cut flowers that still was pretty but too old to be sold and they used those flowers to decorate old pet graves where the owners perhaps no longer were with us, this was back in the days when I had a Garden center.ย

I took some photos on my way to work this morning.

ย  ย

I really didn’t feel like it, it was too early after old Erna but they sent me a photo and Nova looked just like old Erna but half the size so how could I say no ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Nova’s first year consisted mostly of abuse and starvation and living in a dark cellar all the time. After they had rescued her she then went to the older couple who really built her up to an amazing dog but to be honest a completely brat ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Just as it should be after a start like that. So it took a while but the big and older dogs soon taught her to behave ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ย

ย  ย  ย

She had this idea that hares are animals that should be eradicated from the surface of this planet so, since my dogs back then always walked without a leash, if I missed a hare out in the fields but she didn’t she always ran after them in high speed. Hares are smart though so she never caught any and I never had to worry about her getting lost because she either came back to me or back to the cottage ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ One day, when I had to have her on leash she saw a hare and ran after it, she didn’t come far and almost broke my wrist. That was the only time I’ve ever scolded her in her life and I must admit that when I scold I’m not quiet ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ After that she stopped caring about hares and I have always trusted her after that.

ย  ย  ย

She’s had a 5 cm (2 inches) long tumor removed that grew between her right ear and eye so the eye was saved but her ear had to be closed, chronic ear infections, one vet said her ears were built to be infected, she has no cruciate ligament in her left knee but a cheap orthosis and duct tape keeps it together, so good actually that the vet was amazed and said I don’t know how You do it but continue with what ever it is ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ and she also has cancer but a “kind” one that mostly behaves like a fatty lump. It does spread bout so slowly that she won’t have any problems with it for as long as she has left. Then again she doesn’t seem to slow down especially much so who knows how log she’ll stay after all ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

With age she has become really fuzzy with what she will eat, can’t blame her ๐Ÿ™‚ So at the moment she only eats boiled chicken and rice but allows me to also put in some of the dog food the other ton eat as well, not too much though because then she’ll refuse to eat anything ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ She also always wait to start to eat her food until she sees the two other is almost finished with theirs, she knows they aren’t allowed to touch her food (I stay close though because both Malkolm and Alma wouldn’t hesitate to push her away and eat her food themselves). She also takes her time to eat it and the other two stays close drooling until she’s had enough ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

She has never been a cuddly dog so the few times she has lately I’ve had a hard time sleeping because I always fear that that’s her good bye ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ย  So today they’ve all had some grilled chicken and they will all also have some extra treats (she will of course get more than the others but it can’t be shown, my life is really tricky ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

Heat record for September.

A couple of days old photos since we didn’t have our walk after work today.

We had another maintenance day at work so I managed to get out from work a couple of hours earlier again. Today was much like yesterday but the temperature rose to 30C (86F) so even if the wind was blowing it was much warmer than yesterday so I didn’t dare taking the dogs for a walk, Nova wouldn’t have made it far in the sunshine.

ย  ย  ย

I cover all windows on the bottom floor with curtains so it is several degrees cooler in the cottage than outside when I come home from work. So the dogs have only been outside when they had to, after that they’ve mostly slept close to me. Not even Malkolm have had the energy to play at all.ย t’ll be much the same tomorrow they say but after that it will cool down slowly but steadily over the coming seven days, well that’s what they are guessing at least.

ย  ย  ย

They had heavy thunderstorm closer to the coast all day but the winds from south kept those away from us, it was close though ๐Ÿ™‚ Now it’s so quiet in the village, no one is outside but a few dogs, one just on the other side of the field beside my cottage and he barks quite a lot and I can hear a few from the other side of the village. To be honest it feels like in a movie from the deep south where the heat finally breaks people and murders starts to occur ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ The only things that really is missing are the cicadas, our katydids seems to have given up on making noise when it is as warm as it is ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Since they started recording weather and temperature this is the hottest September day in history here.

ย  ย  ย

I’m waiting for the ice cream van, should be here in half an hours. I haven’t heard it enter the village yet and it might even be a bit late since I guess lots of people wants to have ice cream in this heat ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

Have a great day!

Summer is back for a few days.

We had a maintenance day at work today so when I had done the things I was involved in I went home, no need to over do things at a place I won’t stay at. Almost 26C (78,8F), a clear blue sky and thankfully a rather strong and cool wind blowing. Normally I don’t take the dogs on walks when it is that hot but since the wind made it feel cooler we had a walk as soon as I had come home.

Hard to see the yellow crab apples beside the bright red rowan tree berries. Everything seem to ripe at the same time here now.

ย b

We walked down to the creek and Nova walked off leashed all the way. We had to go back to find here quite often so at the end it felt like we had walked twice as long as we had ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I wonder what had walked that way before us because she stopped every second meter (the same in yards) and stood there for quite some time. I had to leash her when we passed a field because she can barely hear anything ans it was hard to find her in the high vegetation ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

I thought it was Wednesday today so I’ve been longing for the ice cream van, guess if I feel disappointed now when I realize it won’t come until tomorrow!! Then again the temperature will rise up to 30C (86F) both tomorrow and on Thursday so I think I’ll need it more then ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ My apples that normally are ripe in late October early November are already ripe to eat. The seed sown apple tree is full of delicious apples and its mother, an Aroma apple, has fewer this year. No matter what I can’t eat that much apples so I’ll give my neighbors as many as they want, especially the kids loves apples so they even eat those normally rather sour wild apples growing beside the dog yardย  ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

Speaking of neighbors, the Beekeeper has now moved. The owner wanted an insane amount of money for that cottage (not even the realtor agrees on how much the owner wants for that place, said so to a customer who called and asked if there was any house for sale here and if realtors says so one really should listen to them ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ) The Beekeeper found a house not far from here but up on the mountain and I do hope this is a place he can stay at to the day he himself wants to move elsewhere. I’ll miss him, good neighbors can be hard to find but so far I’ve been unusually lucky and I do hope I will continue to be so.

ย  ย  ย

I’m rather tired today, I woke up three times last night. I drink a lot of water now so that was the first time I had to get up, second time one of the dogs had to go outside to poop and almost made it ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ and the third time it was the old lady who needed to pee but wasn’t really close to make it ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ She just wakes up, runs down to the door and hope I’ll be there, I’m a heavy sleeper so I rarely hear her walk down but Alma usually makes a lot of noise when Nova runs down, this time I had just fallen asleep again so no chance on me waking upย  easily ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so glad that this rarely happens ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

One of the Red mulberry trees I bought had one unripe fruit and I think we can call it a flower. Normally I’ve read that one need both male and female trees to get berries but now days there are trees that gives berries anyway but they can be either seed less or give seeds that won’t germinate.

My first ripe tomatoes ๐Ÿ™‚ I doubt that I’ll get any more unless it stays warm for a very long time ๐Ÿ™‚

My strawberries are flowering and gives me a few berries every week now ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s time to go downstairs and watch some Paralympics. The Paralympics isn’t a big cash cow for the big tv channels so they sell those rights to PBS channels so we are lucky to be able to see it on our PBS, Swedish Television ๐Ÿ™‚

The Aronia is cut down and it will start to grow again next spring. I have planted the first Red mulberry tree there as well, hoping the mulberry will grow faster and grow over the Aronia in the end.

Alma and I sat on the entrance stairs before the sun hid behind the trees, I drank a cup of tea and she looked through the gate on the cows that now has moved back too the pasture on the other side of the road, she doesn’t like them ๐Ÿ™‚

Canadian Goldenrod, seen as invasive has self sown in a pot in my garden, really beautiful. WE had loads of it here back in the days but now it can’t compete with our native plants and we only have it in a few places.

Have a great day!

We were supposed to have lots of rain today and we certainly have had lots of it. A more constant rain in the early morning but more heavy showers for the rest of the day. We have also had lots of sunshine but being outside was a bit troublesome since one never could see when the showers arrived ๐Ÿ™‚

If this tree had fallen in the wrong direction my neighbors cars would have been hit. It fell towards the dog yard but didn’t reach it from what I could see.

ย

The crab apples in the forest are slowly turning red. These taste really nice but have a slightly bitter after taste.

We did manage to have a morning walk in the forest though, no hunters would willingly go out just to get caught in rain over and over again ๐Ÿ™‚ Strong winds during the night and I woke up by a loud crack while the rian hit my cottage. I didn’t think much of it to be honest but when I noticed that a huge tree beside the dog yard had broken and half the tree now was lying on the ground I thought it was that I had heard. Turns out that I was wrong, the tree had broken the day before when the storm passed by, what I had heard was the lightning hit nearby. Turns out I had several lightning warnings on my phone that I hadn’t noticed ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

I couldn’t see any damages in the forest though. I did see lots of mosquitoes, they were all over us but it looks like the fly season has ended. More flies will come and those are Moose flies, nasty little monsters to be honest, almost impossible to kill and they do have a nasty bite even though they rarely do bite.ย  If we’re lucky last winter killed lots of the larvae plus it has been so wet that lots of the larvae who lives in the ground and pupae have drowned this year. We have had fewer ticks this year because of the weather so I do hope it’s the same with the moose flies.

ย  ย  ย

I’ve done my chores today and we’ve also had our pancakes, this time I had my home made strawberry jam ๐Ÿ™‚ There was almost nothing left of the cherry jam. After that we had a long nap, at least two hours. I did wake up every now and again because the back wasn’t happy when I tried to move ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t made dinner for the entire week at work though, I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to eat so I just took what I had in the fridge and that will last for two days, better than nothing ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

It is time for a cup of coffee I think, normally I only drink tea but sometimes one feel that need of an extra kick from caffeine ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t say that the long nap helped to make me feel more energetic so I doubt some coffee will keep me up all night ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

A storm passing by.

ย

The weather was rather nice this morning while I drove to work but not so nice when I drove back home. Now there’s a storm passing by, it rains on and off plus the sky is mostly evenly grey. The dogs are outside only when they really need to do their business and then runs straight back indoors again. It’s fairly warm though so even if we’re closing in to when we normally have our first frost I’m pretty sure it won’t come tonight ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve just taken a look at the weather sites and all show that nights will be so warm that there’s no risk of frost the coming ten days ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

The storm will have passed already tonight so with a bit of luck we’ll have a pretty nice morning walk with a chance of sunshine. I don’t have high hopes about the sunshine though, the sun usually only start to show when we’re almost at home ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ย

ย  ย  ย

People at work are already giving me tips on where they might need more people and the atmosphere at work has never been as bad as it is right now but I know for sure that they won’t change their minds about me. I’m still not worried the least though because I’ll take any job there is as long as the work hours aren’t during nights. One thing annoyes me even though I know people mean well, many have said that they miss me already ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ For heavens sake can’t they wait to do that until I’m actually gone ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m still talking to everyone every day after all ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

No new photos today because of the weather but I do have old analog photos (for those who don’t know what I mean with that, I quite often use the old film cameras and I have loads of those photos here in my computer) I can show and also made a folder called “For a rainy day”. Today is a rainy day so that works fine ๐Ÿ™‚ It is time for a last cup of tea for the day and after that perhaps watch some tv, well I tend to fall asleep in front of the tv to be honest but that’s just as good or perhaps even better than to watch what’s on the telly ๐Ÿ™‚

These photos are taken with an old camera called Agfa Flexilette. It was never popular to be honest. It’s a twin lens reflex camera and that means that one is looking through a separate lens via the view finder but take the photo with a separate lens beneath the view finder.ย  Here’s a link to Google that will show photos of that camera: Flexilette

ย ย  ย

Have a great day!

Two cranes passed over us on their way to the bigger lake.

Today has been really nice, sunshine all day, 20C (68F) and a rather strong wind that dried up most of the grass, tomorrow I’ll mow the lawn because it will be exactly the same weather, at least that is what they are guessing ๐Ÿ™‚ So no blog will be written.

ย  ย  ย

WE walked out to the bog early this morning. I could hear both cranes and geese flying by. This time of year they fly between the two lakes, the one in the bog and the one I pass every time I go to work, every morning and every evening. I have no idea why they do that though. I know there are more fish and vegetation in the the I drive by but perhaps it’s safer for them to overnight in the bog lake?

ย  ย  ย

We metย  Roe deer doe and her kit on our way out and they are now so used to us and Alma slightly insane behavior that they don’t care about us ๐Ÿ™‚ They stood in front of us just looking at us, the youngling scratched its leg and then they slowly walked in to the forest. I had hoped that we would see more animals today when we reached the end of the peninsula but I couldn’t see anything. The dogs didn’t mind us walking away from there so I guess there might have been a moose, wild hogs or perhaps even a wolf even though I doubt that last one would be there, the roe deer were just to relaxed. It was most likely a moose, the dogs really don’t like them.

ย  ย  ย

I’ve done all my chores, it’s fun I’ve had all week to do them but still wait until the last minute ๐Ÿ™‚ I have even harvested some potatoes, You know the ones I planted in two different pots. I found everything from thumb nail small to one really big and these will last for the rest of the week. Next week I’ll check some of those that survived the winter. I forgot to bring in some peas, chard and squash though, I don’t think I’ve ever had this many peas before, still no beans though.

ย  ย  ย

I also checked the English walnut. I suspected that it had died and was sort of right ๐Ÿ™‚ The variety that once was grafted on the roots of what I guess is a seed sown walnut had died but instead I now have two stems growing up from the root! Just as it is with the Persimmon I bought last year but from those roots I have lots of new stems, they grow slow though. I think I’ll cover those with either grass or leafs when winter is approaching. Now when the warm weather finally came after our vacations things really started to grow, with a bit of luck I might actually have the chance to see the seed sown dahlias flower ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ and I’m sure I’ll see that self sown sunflower open up soon ๐Ÿ™‚

This is to be honest an impossible photo because it’s impossible to actually see what it is ๐Ÿ™‚ It shows the two new stems on my English walnut. Well You can at least see the leafs, it is the dead trunk that still is standing there. I think I’ll use that as a support during winter and then remove it.

The Wisteria started to grow really well but then it stopped. The canopy above was so dense that almost no rain water reached the ground, it was the same where the Pawpaws grow. So I’ve started to remove branches so that both water and sunshine can reach the ground.

The Hardy Fuchsia likes to get more light. I’ll cover it over winter with lots of leafs and grass.

The Troll grapes has been opened by the birds so now the seeds can be seen.

My seed sown Pawpaws. They are a bit slow because they did start to grow very late in the autumn, then started their winter rest just when spring started here. I hope they have adjust to how it really is already next year.

Today they actually show some tv programs I want to see, on the knowledge channel of course so after this I’ll make myself a cup of tea and most likely doze off in front of the tv ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

Have a great day!

Insurance companies aren’t there because they love to help, they are there for the money and nothing else.

No it didn’t look like this her this morning but it’s the test photo and it looks so much better than what it did in the real ๐Ÿ™‚

Sunshine in the early morning and lots of wind so almost no insects around to annoy us ๐Ÿ™‚ Nova have had a really good day again, healthy appetite and lots of energy so we walked down to the creek and followed it down-streams. She walked unleashed so sometimes she was far behind us and sometimes the opposite ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

There are three fields with buckwheat, first time I’ve ever seen buckwheat like this.

No Red deer today but perhaps wolves was close, hard to say when the wind is strong and carries smells quick and far away. Alma kept on looking around us all the way down to the creek but after that nothing like that at all. The only animal we met (excluding birds who flew high above us was the Fox we meat quite often and I think it is the same fox we can see sometimes in the cow pasture outside the cottage.

ย  ย  ย

It rained some just before we came home and the weather has been mixed with some showers, lots of clouds but also lots of sunshine. Always a bit tricky to be outside when the weather changes so often and quickly ๐Ÿ™‚ So we’ve only been outside for short moments and since Alma is in heat I really don’t want her to be outside if I’m not there ๐Ÿ™‚ Thankfully still no signs that Malkolm has any interest in her in that way. I really should have neutered her long time ago but I need to take a week off from work so I’m with her while she is healing. After that it’ll be Malkolms turn.

Lingonberry.

The first Hedgehog mushrooms, they are just as delicious as chanterelles.

ย

Like always I let Malkolm off the leash the last part of our walk and he is really good in coming when I call him ๐Ÿ™‚ Unfortunately I had to leash him because of a cat from the farm up the slope. I really don’t want him to chase it and get hurt by that cat, they are all semi wild and know how to defend themselves so Malkolm wouldn’t know what hit him and I really don’t want to go to the vet during a weekend, emergency vets costs a fortune even if they really don’t need to do anything because it’s a false alarm ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

The fox sat there and just looked at us ๐Ÿ™‚

Almost all animal hospitals here in Sweden have been taken over by venture capitalists so costs has sky rocketed and since the insurance companies get their money anyway they don’t complain. It is actually cheaper for us to travel a week to Spain for a week and get the procedure done than to do it here. People complain of course but since the insurance companies walk hand in hand with the venture capitalists nothing happens. Just remember that insurance companies aren’t there because they love to help, they are there to make lots of money and really doesn’t care about anything else. That’s why I have put aside money for my dogs so I don’t have to deal with insurance companies that always find ways to not have to pay anyway.

ย  ย  ย

It is time for something to eat and perhaps a last cup of tea for the day ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

The first autumn colors. This maple always starts in the middle and sometime those leafs fall off before the rest of the tree get yellow leafs ๐Ÿ™‚

I walked up to my mailbox and said hello to this pig ๐Ÿ™‚

A Kestrel.

The church in Vilske-kleva.

An unusual sight.

WE were lucky to have sunshine this morning and I could see morning mist in the village when looking out the window. I knew we wouldn’t get out in time to catch it with the camera so I took a couple of photos from my window. It was so chilly outside so I could see my breath when breathing ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย

It was much warmer just a few minutes later when the sun started to heat up the air. Nova has had a really good day today, so we walked down to the creek and followed it up-stream for a while. I didn’t spray the anti tick spray on any of us otherwise we would have walked down-stream instead. I saw an owl flying away from us, a rather big one but I know very little about owls so I have no idea what kind it was. But we met some other animals that I did catch with the camera, Red deer. For You Americans they are as big as the Elk/ Wapiti.

I rarely see Red deer here, sometimes a couple of does but today I also saw a youngling and a bull, a very young one because the antlers are really small.

ย  ย

They are usually really shy here but today they were in no rush at all even though they knew we were there, Alma made it impossible not to know where we were ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I thought that we also would meet wild hogs, due to how Alma behaved but I guess they weren’t that interested in meeting us ๐Ÿ™‚ No flies while we were walking but the mosquitoes were quite active. It must be other species flying around this time because suddenly those bites itch again. Yesterday my feet itched so badly that I had to use a cortisol ointment ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Looks quite good with the pink flowers and silvery leafs but the silvery colors is unfortunately mildew, we have unusually much of that this year.

ย  ย

It didn’t take that long after our walk that the rain arrived, heavy showers and a strong wind so the dogs refused to go outside unless they really needed to ๐Ÿ™‚ So now the dogs are quite restless and I can see in their eyes that they accuse me of the rainy weather and oddly enough it isn’t better if I open the other door ๐Ÿ™‚ Less rain tomorrow they’re guessing but Sunday will be nice they say. I’ll believe it if it happens ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

Nothing on tv tonight. Back in the days when I was young Fridays were the big family tv day in the weeks. Families gathered in front of the tv to watch something fun for all. These days they seems to have given up totally since so many stream programs and can see anything any time. I don’t stream anything and only have the free channels and now during summer they all show reruns that we already have seen loads of times ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ We have one channel called the Knowledge channel, my favorite channel that shows science programs but even that channel only show reruns now.

ย  ย  ย

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and perhaps have some more of that cortisol ointment all over my feet ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

Have a great day!

If I’ve learned something today it’s that it is always best to be patient :-)

I managed to take two photos of the morning mist from the window upstairs.

Much the same nice weather today as yesterday but with stronger wind so the flies kept calm even in the forest. There was morning mist left when I woke up but it was all gone by the time we went out on our morning walk. We might have a chance of morning mist at least tomorrow and possibly on Saturday but they’re guessing it will rain on Sunday.

ย  ย  ย

I went to the hospital to get my new shoes and insoles today but first I had to drive in the opposite direction to get a package in Gudhem. I had had a pot of tea before I drove away and I also bought a soda in the grocery store. By the time I came to the hospital I started to feel the need to find a toilet but every time I went there it was occupied so I thought to myself that it wouldn’t take that long to get to the village where I work to find a toilet I could use.

ย  ย  ย

I didn’t think of all the harvesters on the road now so it took much longer than I thought it would, so suddenly I felt rather desperate. No one at work today but I have the keys and the security code for the alarm. Then I had this genius idea to loosen the belt because it pressed towards the stomach. I want to teach You one thing while I’m on this little planet of ours, never do that!!! It was like opening a dam. Well I almost made it to work when I finally couldn’t hold it any more ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I rushed in to a little wooded area beside the factory ๐Ÿ™‚ It wasn’t that horrible because when the pressure became less I could hold it in but I still had to go inside the factory to clean up both me and my clothes ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

So have I learned something today? Yes never drink too much before going somewhere, be patient and wait so I can use the toilet where I am and I’m not young any more because if this had happened when I was in my twenties I would never have shared that with anyone ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Besides this very little has happened today, I did however get a bag of plums from my neighbors. At first I thought I would make jam from them but then I tasted one and now I have no left, tomorrow will be a day spent not far from the bathroom I think ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally! One of the Texas lupines that looks like it is supposed to, all the other ones has had just a few flosers at most except one that only had one flower. So I’ll make sure to save the seeds from this one and hope that the seedlings will turn out as its parent.

I’ve always believed that all strawberries were spring flowers, my starts now ๐Ÿ™‚

Nova has finally gotten her appetite back and today she even spent some time with the rest of us in the garden ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I’ll skip the tea tonight ๐Ÿ™‚ but I think I’ll have some yogurt or quark with vanilla taste, it’ almost as good as ice cream to be honest and since I’ve eaten the last ice cream and the ice cream lorry doesn’t come here until next Wednesday I’ll have the quark ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

One of those summer days one remembers from childhood.

Yesterday morning.

The weather has been so nice today, an almost perfect summer day like the ones one tend to remember from childhood even though here most summers used to rain away and the only reason one had to remember those warm and sunny summer days was because summer breaks were so long as a child ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

We walked down to the creek this morning and thankfully there was a strong wind blowing so mostly we weren’t that annoyed by the flies, some did try and bite us but it was mostly the small really irritating forest flies that managed to keep up with the wind. Also the wind and sunny weather has now dried up the grass so for once none of us was soaking wet when we came back home and even better I couldn’t find a single tick on the dogs when I checked them before going inside. They do tend to calm down this time of year but normally I always find one or two anyway.

Couldn’t see any damselflies today but quite a lot very active small dragonflies. None would sit down long enough to be photographed though.

How come is it that every time one is waiting for more than one package they never arrive at the same day? I was up at the grocery store in Gudhem yesterday to pick up that tree I had ordered, today the next package arrived!!! I didn’t want to go there again today, just didn’t have the energy to be honest. I will however have to leave home tomorrow to pick up those new shoes and insoles. The rather annoying thing is that I have to drive the opposite way to pick up the package and then turn around to go to the hospital, almost back to home, and drive all the way to Lidkรถping. I know it’s a first world problem but oh so annoying ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t done much today to be honest and that’s just how it is supposed to be while having vacation. I have watered all the trees, potted plants and all the newly planted perennials, there’s very little soil in the ground here, it is mostly sand, slate and bog ore so the ground dries up really fast as soon as it gets warmer and dryer. We have lots of Iron in the ground here so that’s why the water in the creek has that rusty color. Luckily not enough for anyone to start trying to bring it up and at the same time destroying the area. We also have one of the biggest deposits of Uranium in the mountain north of the lake. At the moment it’s forbidden by law to try and mine it but the right wing government that supports on the fascist party wants to remove that law. It is never a good thing for the environment to have a mine and especially not when it’s about Uranium. Well the people stood up and fought the government the last time they tried and they will again ๐Ÿ™‚

It is time for a last cup of tea and today I won’t drink as much as I did yesterday, I woke up around three am and desperately needed to go downstairs ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Oddly enough I managed to go back to sleep again and didn’t wake up until after six am ๐Ÿ™‚

This is Salmiak, the kindest cat in the world. His biggest problem is that he believes that there’s good in everything and that has given him huge problems with dogs. My Albin tried to take him and I think at least three other dogs bitten him badly. Now days he tries to have some distance between himself and dogs. He is at least as old as Nova, so eighteen years old by now.
