I’ve sown this mock orange many years ago. It’s now almost three meters high (much the same in yards) and smells rather nice.

It’s just as warm today as yesterday and I can’t pretend to like it πŸ™‚ It is raining (with thunder) to the west of us and every time it’s getting closer it stops and turns westwards again. I really would enjoy that lower temperature one always get with thunder.

I’ve done very little today. We’ve taken one walk before it got too hot and thankfully we had a wind blowing as well. I would have loved to get out early in the morning when I woke up but there was no wind and the flies would have loved to eat suck us dry from our blood πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’m telling myself that the flies are good for all the birds and that they do good things for nature but on days like these I really wouldn’t mind if they went extinct πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’m glad I have the fan and it had to work a lot last night. It is a bit noisy to be honest but I didn’t have any problems falling asleep. I did wake up at some time during the night and turned it off, It’s amazing how quiet it was after that πŸ™‚ but I do remember that I heard some birds singing so I guess it wasn’t that long after I went up anyway.

Tomorrow will be just as hot or perhaps hotter and guess if I’m happy I don’t work in my old department πŸ™‚ Working beside a hot oven and hot washing machine at the same time it’s a heat wave is not a nice thing, or healthy either for that matter. Still it won’t be nice to work anywhere in the factory with theseΒ  temperatures. They’re guessing the temperature will drop on Tuesday and rain will come as well. It might be hot again on Wednesday though, yay.

I must admit that I slept very well last night, the bedroom wasn’t at all as hot as I thought it would be. I even woke up an hour and a half later than usual! Can’t remember when that happened the last time. The temperature had already reached 20C (68F) by then so I thought a walk wouldn’t happen.

So I watered the vegetable and potato patch, made us our breakfasts and didn’t think more about it. Then a wind started to blow and both Alma and Albin became a bit restless so I thought it best to have a walk anyway. By then it had reached 25C (77F) but the wind made it feel less warm. Nova really didn’t care about a walk but she still wanted to follow us when I picked up the leashes.

WE didn’t go far and we were in no hurry. Half the walk was in sunshine since they’ve cut down all the trees on the left side of the road but the other half was in shade since we walked back in the forest. Both Alma and Albin just fell down on the floor when we came back and slept heavily after just a minute or two. Nova behaved as if she could have continued for a couple of more hours, she wasn’t affected by the heat at all πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’ve also done the last of the laundry but that doesn’t demand especially much energy from me πŸ™‚ It is too hot (we reached 32C (89,6F) as warmest today) so I’ve only had cold things to eat, like granola with icy cold sour milk with raspberry taste. So the heat has arrived and so far I’m ok with it but I’m sure I won’t be tomorrow when it’ll be even hotter. 28C (82,4F) today, 30C (86F) tomorrow and 31C (87,8F) on Sunday. It was quite nice in the early morning though, we were out on our walk around 4:30 am and the hot air was on its way so we had a thick layer of fog all over the village. It doesn’t last for long after the sun has risen so I thought it best to get outside as soon as possible. I doubt we’ll have any fog tomorrow morning though since the ground now will already be warm when the sun rise again.

I watered the vegetables and potatoes as soon as we had come home and I must say we do have unusually many mosquitoes this summer. They all went to visit me as well and even though it doesn’t itch any longer the sound of them is quite annoying. I just heard one flying around my head when I was closing the kitchen door so I sprayed some insecticide towards it. I rarely use insecticides but fly season can be nasty here and suddenly those sticky fly papers can’t take any more flies and then I will use it. I now have two open windows upstairs and one downstairs, all covered with mosquito nets of course.

This was a good day to have off from work, the sun has been shining all day and it’s been around 23C (73,4F). The winds have been rather strong so that makes it feel a bit cooler. The weather predictions have varied quite a lot about the coming week and at the moment it seems as if we’ll get up to 30C (86F) during the weekend. A lot of people will love it though since we celebrate midsummer this weekend. Many will go to the beach, others will barbecue and some will start forest fires because they can’t use their brains and understand that open fires when everything is dry and hot aren’t such good ideas πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We really should celebrate it today though since it is summer solstice now.Β  Then again we won’t notice any change in daylight anyway since several days now are more or less just as long. Today the sun rose at 4 am and it will set at 10:16 pm. The only difference to Friday will be that the sun rise one minute later πŸ™‚

I stopped at my favorite garden center on my way home and bought a couple of plants, two melon plants since the ones I have really doesn’t seem to grow at all and one Kiwi vine. It isn’t really hardy enough to grow here, close but no cigarr as they say but I’ll try and protect it from the worst cold if winter gets bad. That was bad luck for You though because I couldn’t find any parking spots in the shade so I couldn’t stop and take any photos for You and instead I had to drive home again. Well I’ll most likely take trip up there again during my vacation.

We weren’t supposed to have any sunshine this morning but the clouds would go away some time before noon. So I wasn’t the least surprised that the sun shone through big patches of cloud free sky already in the early morning πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We had breakfast before we went out on our walk so the temperature was above 10C (50F) which means the flies are flying around. We have a really strong wind blowing though so I hoped it would keep the flies away. No it didn’t. I didn’t want to walk down to the creek because horse flies reign there at the moment so we went in to the forest instead.

We swapped horse flies to forest flies and mosquitoes instead. The forest flies are still a bit shy so they just circles around the head and don’t aim for ears and nostrils so the walk was quite pleasant. We walked to an opening in the forest where they cut down the trees a few years ago. We stopped just where it opens up and the dogs were quite interested in something out there. So we stood there for a minute or so but since I know wild hogs are fast and the boar must be around somewhere we slowly turned around and went back homewards. I have by the way bought another lens. I did it as soon as we came home. I went out to check our EBay, called Tradera and found a used Tamron telephoto lens. It has reasonable good reviews so I’m hoping for the best.

Could be corona but it can just as well be a normal influensa. I do feel better today even though I do cough a lot from time to time. The weather has been a bit mixed today. Cloudy all the time but sometimes it’s just been raining, some times the sky has opened up totally and sometimes actually not raining at all. We’ve even have had some occasional drizzle. It was mostly just raining or drizzling when we went out on our morning walk and since the forest kept most of the wind away from us it actually wasn’t that bad. We followed the creek up-streams and Nova sensed something that she didn’t want to meet. The other two sensed it also but they sure didn’t hesitate to meet what ever it was πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

My guess is that they could smell wild hogs because they tend to be around the creek a a lot and that’s where we’ve seen them most times but it could have been moose or red deer too. It could also have been a wolf, lots of sightings of wolves in this and neighboring counties lately. I think it is a lone wold that walks around and as long as I have the dogs leashed I don’t worry about them. Besides how would a wolf react to two screaming dogs where one sounds as if he would like to tear what ever we meet apart and the other one as if something actually is tearing her apart πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I think the wolf just would feel very sorry for me and walk the other way πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The last times I’ve opened the kitchen door today, when it just drizzled, she didn’t walk or run that way at all. Instead she stayed on the other side of the garden. Ukraine is going to win, not only because the group got special permission to go by the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy (they are after all in war) but the song is not that bad. If I in the future doesn’t want a vegetable patch there I can use that space as a what we call bersΓ₯ (from the french word berceau and is pronounced much the same way). A bersΓ₯ is a place where one can sit and have coffee with friends and normally there’s a horse shoe shaped hedge around it. Typically here they use lilacs as the hedge. No roof above it though. Mostly the hedge is high so no one can look in and to keep the wind away but I’ve seen those with lower hedges too. So my “hedge” would be a fence covered in mini kiwi vines, not bad at all to be honest πŸ™‚

So just before I was going to bed yesterday evening I suddenly started to think about the label on my new apricot tree. I thought it looked a bit odd but also thought it must be a standardized thing they put on and then the text would say what it was. Well I went out to look at it a second time.

They answered that I could keep it if I wanted so now I have a peach tree instead πŸ™‚ I do like them a lot those flat peaches but peach trees have huge problems with a fungus that kills them after a few years so I wasn’t sure at first but then I found out that they now have a good pesticide that kills the fungus (it contains sulfur which kills off the fungus and one need so small ammounts that it isn’t dangerous for anything else). One need to spray the tree with it after the leafs have fallen in autumn and one more time before the new leafs grow out. After doing that the problems will go away. I do like apricots though so I might order one anyway but most likely from another business πŸ™‚

We have a few Elm trees that still look really healthy so I hope that the Dutch Elm tree disease stays away.

I’ve been a bit worried about Nova for a couple of days again because she really didn’t want to eat, not even treats and she is on her sixteenth year. Turns out her stomach was wobbly again so today she had no problems what so ever to gulp down her food again πŸ™‚ I’ve also bought the old food she likes better again and I’m pretty sure that helped as well. Still I need to find one she likes and keeps her stomach well so I better check out other varieties again.

It rained some when we were out walking but we also had some sunshine. It’ll rain again later tonight but after that the skies will keep the water to themselves for quite some time, at least that is what they’re guessing. It is time for something to eat and after that I’ll doze off in front of the tv, like always πŸ™‚

The photos are from the folder “For a rainy day”. This is what my Black walnut tree looked like last summer. It actually looks as if it is fighting the tree cancer with some success!

The winds are so strong today that I didn’t want to take a walk in the forest because the gusts might push some trees to the ground and I really don’t want to get one over anyone of us. Besides that it’s a really nice day, just enough warm and sunny. We did get some drops of rain and more will come tomorrow but that’s nothing compared to what we got yesterday.

I left work a bit early yesterday because some papers would have to be signed before the road association meeting. The rain had started early and then the thunder arrived. To be honest most of it passed north of us but we did get the showers and the hail. I walked five meters from the car to the house door and was soaking wet before I arrived at the house πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’m so glad that the dog food I had ordered arrived the day before πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The meeting went very well, we were only five people there so the meeting didn’t take long and after that we had some coffee and biscuits πŸ™‚ I wasn’t away from home more than an hour including the drive there and back πŸ™‚

Today my apricot tree finally arrived so I had to pick it up at the big package delivery center in FalkΓΆping. I did wonder why I couldn’t fetch it at my normal place in Gudhem but I had forgotten to check how high it actually was. It is just as or slightly taller than I am and I did have some problems getting it in to my car πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I had to cut off just enough of the box it arrived in to be able to shut the tailgate. Another problem was the wind.

The package was high but not especially wide to be honest but the strong wind caught it and I’m lucky it didn’t use us as a kite πŸ™‚ The tailgate was headed just towards the wind so at first I couldn’t open it up. It was a bit tricky to hold the package at the same time πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It was almost as difficult to shut it when all wind pressed in the the car and I tried to push the tailgate down πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We now I have it at home and it will be standing at the north side of my cottage where the wind can’t reach it until it calmes down and I can find some place to plant it.

I’ll leave work early tomorrow as well since I’m going to the physiotherapist again. I won’t go back to work after that since there will be very little time left until I stop working for the day.Β  I’m waiting for another package as well, I’ve ordered a fence so I can make it higher so that Alma won’t jump over it (well at least I hope she won’t πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ) and I’ll also fence in my vegetable patches since Albin would eat anything edible he could reach πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

The Maples are in bloom.

We’ve had a really nice weather here today, a few clouds in the morning but the rest of the day has been totally free from them. Not as warm as yesterday though and the wind was a bit chilly but since it couldn’t reach my property I really didn’t mind πŸ™‚

We walked down to the creek and in to the forest this morning and Alma behaved really well, to my very big surprise! I so wish that this is the way (or even better of course) she’ll behave from now on. I won’t hope too much though, she has behaved well occasionally before πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I don’t know if You have the Swish app, an app that one can use for sending smaller ammounts of money to other peoples accounts? One connects ones phone number to the bank account so it’s really easy to use if someone wants to lend money or to pay in stores as well. There are of course lots of frauds done that way too and today I got a text message from someone I don’t know who claimed that he had, by accident, swished me some money.

I really don’t know how anyone can use this to scam anyone else from money but apparently one can. I used to have this app but that was several phones ago and I’m not planning on getting it again. So I texted back that: He had to do this via his bank because I don’t have the app any longer and won’t get it again, because You know too many frauds are done that way. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ve also called the bank and told them about it and they said I did the exact right thing. It will take a bit longer for that person to get his money back but he will get them back as soon as they’ve talked to me and I say it’s ok.

I’ve mowed the lawn today as well, well spots of it anyway πŸ™‚ Mostly I actually mowed stinging nettles and that always make it feel more as a fun job that mowing grass. Stinging nettles thrives when one have several dogs peeing and pooping in the garden and they also spread very easily both by seeds and roots. They are edible (they stop to sting when heated up) and are full of nutrients but I can’t say that they taste delicious even though many actually think they do.

I didn’t win the lottery yesterday so back to work on Monday as always. The Daffodils (we call them easter lilies) had started to flower in FalkΓΆping. Here at home I can see one bud so far.

So on Monday afternoon they called me from the garage and told me that they had found an oil leak and wondered if I wanted to get it fixed now or later. I said now and they said good, You can get Your car on Tuesday after 1pm. No problems for me, I just called my work place and told them what had happened and they never complain when things like that happens.

So I start walking at 11:30 to catch the bus that goes to FalkΓΆping at 12:39. Apparently my spine is a bit inflamed which I didn’t know, so after a while it squeesed some nerves that goes all the way down my leg and the walk is 45 minutes long in a good day, yesterday wasn’t a good day at all and I limped badly the last meters to the bus stop but I did make it. After that it’s a fifteen (in a good day) minute walk uphill to the garage. I did reach it after 35 minutes, limping even more bad πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I open the door and they guy sitting there says we didn’t get that spare part this morning πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We will however get it this afternoon. At that moment I actually wondered if it was worth going to jail for the rest of my life after killing him for not giving me a call at all to tell me that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I think he could feel that so then he said But we have a car You can borrow. It’s really good to drive but You mustn’t remove the ignition key when You’ve stopped. I so wish I had asked why I couldn’t do that because every time I had stopped the car I really, really wanted to pull out that key to see what would happen πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ No problem at work really and absolutely no problems here at home since people can’t find this place even with a map or a GPS πŸ™‚ But I wanted to stop by the store on my way home and some people in that village wouldn’t think for a second before that had stolen that car, a small Renault by the way.

I took this from the bus on my way home. A bit too dark because it’s almost impossible to see the Abbey ruin beside the church.

So every time I left the car I just placed my fleece jacket over the steering wheel so that no one could see the key sitting there. So I had the car until this afternoon when I finally could get my own car back. I must say that the little Renault was quite nice to drive but the seat was so hard that my back started to act up again. I’m glad that I finally understood how the fan and heating worked because we had frost again this morning. The rest of the day has been really nice though, lots of sunshine and warmer winds. I could have the door open to the painting box as well. Another good thing is that my work friend has come back from his paternity leave. Both because I’ve missed him but also because I finally don’t have to do his job πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ll still go through all the nozzles in the big washing machine every Friday morning because he can’t leave his little boy at the day care center so early in the morning. I like that part a lot because that means I’ll still have my going home early Fridays πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Besides this nothing much else has happened. I haven’t worked much this week but I still feel that tomorrow can’t come fast enough πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ If everything goes as planned I’ll start removing grass on the spots I’m planing on having my vegetable patch and also my potato patch.

Back in the days there was a lively little village beside the castle, almost all of it is gone now.
DSC_0072
Here there was a yellow apartment building, it was still there when I moved here. There was also a shop(since long closed) and I think an old garage as well. All the old root cellars that all the villagers had are still there though on the other side of this road.

It isn’t that long ago people lived in these houses. Too bad the castle owners didn’t know that the pandemic would have risen the price on them so much that it would have been a really great idea to renovate them. The pandemic made people realize that living in the middle of nowhere actually would be a great idea since it is harder to get infected πŸ™‚
