A very polite hunting dog :-)

Today would have been so great if it hadn’t been for the biting cold eastern wind. The sun has been shining all day and if the wind has been coming from almost any other direction my garden would have been wind free, instead it has hit us hard all day except for in the morning when we had our morning walk πŸ™‚

A fox and a hare have been walking on the frozen creek.

Alma tried really hard to behave and I think she would have been really successful in doing so if it hadn’t been for that hunting dog πŸ™‚ It isn’t that long ahead in the future that Alma will be in heat, in fact I think she just might have started and he was smooch more interested in her than any hunt πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Β I have to say that he was very polite and kind though, he started by greeting Malkolm and then Alma. Alma was very happy to meet him as well but when he showed a bit too much interest she barked at him and he walked away.

Not for long though, he returned a few more times with the same result from Alma and the guy knew he wouldn’t stand a chance today πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Alma was a bit all over the place after that for quite some time but eventually she did calm down. It wasn’t any from “our” hunting guys so I guess he must have come from the castles grounds. So since the hunting season continues until late February (wild hogs and foxes can be hunted longer though) this might happen again πŸ™‚ and as long as the dogs are as polite as this one there’ll be no problems from me πŸ™‚

There he goes the very polite hunting dog πŸ™‚

I checked the web site that sold those heart nuts to me and they said the heart nuts must spend two months in cold surroundings, so I brought five pots outside to the green house, the sixth one is still sort of semi floating but I’ll give it a couple of days more to sink down before I bring that one outside as well. Normally I sow seeds that needs a cold period in damp paper and put them in a plastic bag and in to the fridge but these are so big that I for once put them in soil directly. This was good news for me because it gave me so much space to place other seeds I’ve sown (walnuts of any kind need high and deep pots because of their taproots and it’s really important not to disturb those roots or break them.

So now I’m thinking of sowing melons, I’ve already sown tomato seeds, Tamarillo, guava and two different Passionfruit seeds and I also have Chinese dogwood in a plastic bag waiting plus raisin tree seeds in the fridge. I’ve always failed with melon seeds because they do need a greenhouse to grow here but I’ve tried them in the sunniest and warmer spot I have outside but as I said always failed. Now I have that greenhouse so if I fail this time I will give up πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well it is time for that last cup of tea for the day and after that the Swedish part of the Eurovision Song Contest will start today. I don’t have high hopes since they rather tend too have famous YouTubers, tiktokers and anything else than trying to have good artists competing.

I haven’t seen my neighbours chickens in weeks because they refuse to go outside if they don’t like the weather πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

I’ve picked up my car.

So they texted me long after they had closed that my car was fixed. I didn’t mind since I had the car I could borrow anyway so I went there this morning to pick it up. The exhaust pipe wasn’t broken thankfully but the seals where the different parts of the exhaust fume pipes were stuck together had given up so they just put in new ones. So it didn’t cost an arm and a leg, just an arm πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So a new spring for the front wheel, two bulbs and the seals costed around $ 900 US ( tricky to know exactly at the moment since the US $ has lost so much value lately but somewhere around there I would guess).

So I paid without crying πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ and went out to my car. It was so slow, like driving in fudge. The guy who had repaired my car had mashed a rookie mistake, never use the handbrake on a French car during winter πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It will freeze stuck and must be brought inside to be knocked off the brake disc πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Only took a few minutes and now the handbrake will rest until this winter is over πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I stopped twice on my way home, once at a big grocery store in FalkΓΆping to get some jam for pancakes I’ll make later and a second time to pick up a parcel.

I have an incinerator toilet, no water used in it with other words, and need paper bags where everything goes before I “flush” the toilet so everything drops down and gets burned in a very high temperature. The odd thing is that the chimney from it just gets lukewarm. I’ve never been able to figure out how they can cool down that hot air so good that I only need to have a plastic chimney. It works and that’s the only thing that matters πŸ™‚

I’ve started to sow those heart nuts now and went online to check something about the sowing. I never look at the AI suggestions google put at the top of every search but something caught my eye. AI said the nuts was supposed to be placed warm?! That’s not what I’ve learned. So I went out into the wonderful world called internet and finally had to admit that I might be wrong about keeping them cold before they germinate. The places I found said keep warm, so now I’ll keep them warm for a couple of weeks to see if anything will happen. There are always easy to remember general rules when it comes to sowing. If the seeds comes in early summer they’ll need warm weather to germinate, if they come in autumn they’ll need a period of cold.

There’s always exceptions to this rule and some seeds can work both ways. So if a seeds falls to the ground but surroundings aren’t good they can lie all summer and wait for next spring and germinate when there’s enough water and warmth, but it’ll then only work if they’ve gone through a cold period and not been collected and stayed indoors all winter. Some should have it warm but just refuse to germinate anyway and then a cold period will help them to start and vice versa . So I’ll keep these nuts warm as I wrote for a few weeks and see what will happen, we still have much winter ahead of us unfortunately.

It is time for a cup of tea I think and after that I’ll make some pancakes πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

By the way, this is how my Kaki (Diospyrus kaki) fruit seedlings look like now

Rather dull days.

I had to drive to the garage early this morning so they could fix the problems the car had and clear it so I can drive around with it legally πŸ™‚ I was there just after 7 am and picked up the car I could have while waiting for mine. It is a small Opel of some kind and to my very big surprise I actually understood how it works πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It had a real key and everything showed clearly what I had to do to make it work, like the heating system. I’m used to French cars and that’s not always the case in them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We walked down to the bog two days ago.

We never went out for a walk because I didn’t know when they would text me telling me my car was ready. They close at 4:15 pm and no message, it did come at 5:30 pm though πŸ™‚ The dogs and I were in the garden as much as possible though. I Β actually dared to have them in the cottage while I was away, Alma never intentionally brakes anything but she’s big and clumsy so one never knows πŸ™‚ It worked well though, I think they mostly had been sleeping by the door waiting for me to come home. Since the text I got after Malcolm’s surgery said he mustn’t sit or lie on the ground until after ten days (eight days today) so the risk of getting an infection was minimised, the dog house/ yard/ old garage wasn’t really an option.

Absolutely nothing has happened here these last days, even the walks have been a bit dull to be honest and the sunshine we were supposed to have never showed up, instead we had snow falling πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It snowed all day but I really can’t see where it landed πŸ™‚ Β The only fun thing that has happened was that the heart walnuts arrived in the mail today. They’ll be soaking in water until tomorrow at least. Normally the rule is that if they keep on floating for more than four days they’ll never germinate. I say normally because a couple of years ago I bought Pawpaw seeds that were so dry I thought they never would start to grow, some seeds were floating for well over a week. I sowed the seeds as soon as they had sunk and never thought I would get anything, all seeds germinated?! Anyhow, the walnuts need a cold period before they start to grown so when they’ve sunken down in the water I’ll put them in separate pots and place them in the greenhouse.

By the way, do You remember that I found two seeds in the Kaki fruits I bought (less hardy relatives to the Persimmon tree)? Well they have started to grow and soon They’ll show leafs πŸ™‚ They will become a big problem in the future because these can not grow outside here, so I’ll have to have them in pots and bring them down in to the cool cellar. I must figure out a way to be able to bring them down without killing anything if I drop them because they’ll need big pots after a while πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

And to the creek yesterday.

It is time for a cup of tea and I’m wondering if they want the car I borrowed when they open the garage tomorrow or if I can wait so the sgrocery store in Gudhem opens so I can pick up a parcel on my way home?

I’ve noticed that the monster spends a lot of time in the doghouse/ yard/ garage.

Have a great day!

Nasty wind and sowing season has started :-)

Same nasty wind as yesterday but from a slightly different angle, south east this time and that made the walk so much nicer since it couldn’t reach us most of the way. Still not especially fun weather and both Alma and Malkolm pulled their leashes almost all the way. Well it could have been worse I guess.

After removing the old microwave oven yesterday I have been continuing to clean and declutter my kitchen counter, it was really needed already long ago πŸ™‚ I have to stop temporarily because I need a new bib plastic sack to throw most of what’s on the counter away. No it isn’t hysterically much but I’m waiting for a door food sack to be emptied and I do need to throw other things away as well πŸ™‚

While cleaning up I realised why it was so cold by the little window. The insulation list must have either become worn out which I doubt or it have broken somehow at the bottom of the window. I do have several potted plants standing there so I couldn’t feel the flow of cold air coming in through there. I don’t have any at home so instead I duct taped the window all the way at the bottom of it. Didn’t take long before it felt much warmer and nicer again.

Somewhere beneath that ice and snow there’s a metallic bridge, I didn’t trust that is for a second so we took a detour πŸ™‚

I found the name of two of the cacti/ succulent seeds I found behind the microwave. One is for leaf cacti and the other one is some sort of agave. There’s a number on each little paper bag so I had to go through 44 pages with 48 species/ varieties to find them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The three left I’ll assume are cacti and I’ll wait trying to sow them until it is much warmer outside. I have however started to sow Two species of edible passionfruits, a Chinese dogwood, Japanese raisin tree and also lots of Guava seeds. The guava trees I had I killed last winter by over watering them and also keeping them in the cool Β cellar, they didn’t like that at all. I’ll also sow seeds from a pink dandelion I once had, well it wasn’t totally pink, it had a yellow center and the rest of the flower was pink.

I guess that normal dandelion seeds would germinate no matter how old they are but this species isn’t that tough, the last ones only lasted three years before they gave up but I’ll give them a chance anyway. I have more seeds I also bought five Heart seed walnuts (Juglans ailantifolia cordiformis) that needs some time in cold weather to start growing. I don’t know why I keep on sowing walnuts because I really have no space for them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I already have a black walnut tree and an English walnut tree, well tree is too much to call it but it is alive and if it makes through this winter I guess it’ll survive in the long run as well πŸ™‚ Β ) The one moving here the day I’m gone will have some interesting days to figure out all what I have or it’ll be someone who just will cut it all down πŸ™‚ :-).

It is time for a pot of tea and a French roll I think. The last of the meat sauce was eaten today and now I have pork chops slowly thawing in the fridge. It was cheap and a big pack so either I’ll have the same dinner the coming eight days or I’ll have to put some of them in the freezer πŸ™‚

Ravens passed above us and all at the same direction, I guess an animal must have lost its life.

Have a great day!

Windy and cold and the cone of shame.

Most of the snow is gone but there are a few places it still hangs around, even though it is mostly ice now.

Nasty and cold winds from east but oddly enough not that cold, just below 0C (32F) during the day. Temperatures will drop during the night though. I can say that our morning walk was anything but nice, there was just one place in the forest where the wind didn’t reach us.

I now know that it was the microwave that made the fuse pop because it happened again when I wanted to re-heat the meat sauce today. This time I had fuses though, 21 of them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I decided to put the microwave in the wood shed until I can throw it away. It was old, most likely over 25 years old actually so I wasn’t surprised that it happened. I did not remember how heavy it was though πŸ™‚ Β When I removed it I found lots of things that had fallen down behind it πŸ™‚ I now have stamps for the rest of my life and also envelopes πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I also found seed packages that I had forgotten that I once bought. A few more tomato varieties, nasturtium seeds, something I’d picked myself, wild geranium seeds and something I think must be for succulents. The name of the one selling them to me sort of rings a bell about succulents. It’ll be exiting to see if they’ll germinate one day πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Malkolm managed to destroy the cone of shame and I duct taped it so it would hold together but then I remembered that I have some old ones that were made to hold together better, slightly different material I think plus it is reinforced all the way round. Thew biggest one is perhaps a bit small but he can breathe so it’ll have to do πŸ™‚ He mostly behaves when he doesn’t wear it but every now and again he wants to clean himself and I fully understand that but it is still not allowed. He behaves as usual so the painkillers work well and he eats anything hidden in cheese πŸ™‚

I think I’ll skip that last cup of tea for the day and instead I’ll have hot cocoa, it fits better on a cold and windy day I think.

Have a great day!

The day after the vet visit.

It hasn’t been as cold as they guessed it would be but anything beneath 10C (50F) is too cold for me πŸ™‚ Well it works with colder degrees as long as the wind doesn’t blow and it hasn’t until now, we have a biting cold eastern wind blowing and it is anything but nice.

So Malkolm went to the vet yesterday to get neutered and all went well. He has inside stitches but is still not allowed to sit down outdoors. I do try to make sure he doesn’t but of course it happens anyway. Also today my neighbour was outside bringing in firewood and both Malkolm and Alma loves my neighbours and the first thing he did was to, with the cone of shame, jump over the fence to say high πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I thought it would be best to bring him back home through the normal way we all do, go through the gate but as soon as he saw me walking to the gate he jumped back over the fence again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Anyway, Alma is a pain in the a..s to walk with but she’s even worse in the car!! Even though she’s attached to the seat belt she still does her best to become a danger by trying to be everywhere at the same time, preferable between me and the steering wheel πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ She was however very confused when we drove back home without Malkolm, she actually laid down and slept for several minutes and after that only whining quietly. When we went back to the vet to pick him up all the vet did was to tell me how they all had fallen in love with Malkolm πŸ™‚ After a while it felt like they wanted him to stay πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’m pretty sure they won’t say the same about Alma when it is her time πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I Asked them about how much it would cost to do the same job with Alma and guess if I was surprised, it’s a third of what it would cost at my regular vet!!! They said that the nurse at the regular place must have read it all wrong and that the price she said must have been an emergency operation if the dog would have pyomatera. I know the big chains cost a lot but this is a free standing vet station and so is the one we usually go to and that was the only explanation they could give. Well it seems we now have a new vet πŸ™‚ Today I got a parcel that I had to pick up at the grocery store in Gudhem and it is the same road as to the vet. Malkolm wasn’t happy and Alma was back to her usual self. I had to bring them because it’s only a day after the surgery and I couldn’t leave them in the cottage or dog house this soon after.

Malkolm is ok and he’ll have painkillers for four more days. He doesn’t have to have the cone all the time, just when I can’t see him all the time. So no cone while being outside walking and when he’s sleeping in the sofas as long as I can see him. Normal appetite as well but now I’ll have to reduce the amount of food he eats, they say that they usually have a bigger appetite than before and gain weight easier as well. I’ve never noticed any of that with my previous dogs but I’ll keep an eye on him and his weight. Alma had to follow us in to the vet, screaming and whining a lot. The vet said: oh she anxious being here and I said no this is how she is when we’re out walking. She just looked at me πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I said that perhaps we could drug her for a while πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ and she said that we can have that discussion later on if I wanted to πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I do love that big stupid dog but she is a handful sometimes πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I’ll also have one of the newly baked French rolls I baked this morning. Lots of cheese in them so they are delicious πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

It does at least not snow.

Nothing much to write about today, the wind is back and is nasty cold but for most of the day it didn’t reach my cottage or reach in to the forest. Now it clearly reach the cottage and the kitchen feels a bit chilly. Now both big weather sites says cold during Sunday and Monday but one says -13C (8,6F) and the other says -16C (3,2F) I really don’t like either of those options πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Two days after they say above 0C (32F). cold roads with melting water will be fun to drive on.

I could almost see the sun but those blue gaps in the clouds were never in the right place πŸ™‚

No mice have been caught in the cool cellar but the monster has been very interested in going down there and of course I let her do it. She tells me when she think it is enough πŸ™‚ Lots of people are sick here now, lots of coughing and nose dripping πŸ™‚ So far I’ve been spared but I do feel tired all the time but that can also be because the lack of sunshine.

We walked down to the creek this morning and as long as we walked on the gravel road everything was fine but then we followed the creek and only had our old tracks to walk in and the wind had blow a lot of snow in those tracks so it was like walking in potato flour, I never knew what way I would slide πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It was even worse in the fields because the perfectly smooth snow surface didn’t show where the wild hogs had been digging πŸ™‚ :-)Sometimes the snow barely reached the sole of my shoes, sometimes I stood in knee deep snow πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Not a sign in the snow where the wild hogs have been digging πŸ™‚

It was even a bit too much for the dogs in the end and the walk took much longer than normal. I didn’t mind the longer time especially but I did mind the wind that hit us all the time. I could barely feel my hands when we came back home. It was so nice to be able to sit down and have a cup of tea just doing nothing after we had come back.

I think it is time for that last cup of tea for the day and to fall asleep in the recliner. I’ll have to have the alarm on though because today it’s On the Tracks on tv, something I actually like to watch πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

I really don’t like winter.

It has been snowing since last night and it will continue to do so for at least two more days. The flakes are smaller though so it only builds up rather slowly. I really don’t like winter! It does look like people are taking it easy in the traffic though, so far I’ve only read about one accident involving two cars and a bus.

I don’t think I would have hated it this much if it wasn’t for the wind, it reaches all the way in to the forest as well and since I wear glasses it only takes five seconds before I can’t see anything πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I wouldn’t have moved outside the garden at all if it wasn’t for the dogs πŸ™‚ They didn’t seem to be bothered at all and they followed tracks not visible because of the new snow that covered them. I must say they did behave really well today and I didn’t hear especially much whining from Alma, perhaps she has finally understood that it isn’t necessary to make sound all the time πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well I doubt it but I value the times she actually is quiet πŸ™‚

I wished that I had something sweet to have with my tea but had nothing at home and no matter how much I wanted something I sure wouldn’t drive anywhere in this weather, so I baked a sponge cake (the Swedish name for it would be sugar cake and thinking about how much sugar there is in a sponge cake I think our name is more appropriate πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ). I checked online for gluten free ones and as always I didn’t follow the recipe especially much πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Most of those recipes says to use a flour mix and those flour mixes are usually just some kind of starch and usually taste horrible. So I took what I had and I must say that it turned out so well that I wish I could remember what I used πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

There was a tiny forest mouse in the trap this morning and since I thought it shouldn’t sit in that tiny space I moved it to the travel cage I bought. When I came down to fetch it and walk to the forest with it the little bugger had chewed its way through the plastic!! I hadn’t even gone an hour! so from now on they’ll need to stay in the trap and have a much more uncomfortable journey to the forest. I can hear it in the walls and I think it is laughing at me πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea and I’ll have what’s left of the sponge cake πŸ™‚ I did put half a banana in it but to be honest I couldn’t feel any banana taste. I guess it wasn’t ripe enough and perhaps I should have used the entire banana and not just half of it. I’ll know better the next time this happen πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

I’ve been sleeping so bad lately.

I’ve slept bad for a few days now and the closer I came to today the worse it got. I haven’t had especially many hours of sleep to be honest and the reason? The annual vehicle inspection πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It doesn’t matter how new my car has been and also knowing there’s absolutely no wrong with it, I still have a slight panic when it comes closer πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

These are taken through my kitchen window so they are a bit blurry.

I had the appointment at 7 am today and my first thought when I woke up was, why didn’t I take one later in the day πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Don’t get me wrong, I really think we do need this since I want my car and the ones with me in the traffic as good as possible but I just can’t stand it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I knew it wouldn’t pass this year because there’s a clonk sound when I drive over bumps or potholes, I didn’t know why though. Turns out the spring to the front right tire had broken. At the bottom and just a little so it is still safe to drive it. I was also tole that the Lamda value, something to do with the exhaust fumes) was a bit too high. 1,03 is ok but my car had 1,05. My car had that problem last year as well but and it takes a few minutes to fix so no bigger deal.

They build “tipis” several years ago and it looks like they still use them, It’s for the grandkids to the forest owner.

So now it’s over for this time and I know I’ll sleep like a baby tonight πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Β Well below 0C (32F) this morning but there was no ice on the car! I had it on the inside instead πŸ™‚ The humidity here is almost always high so it creeps in to the car and when one doesn’t drive every day it builds up inside and I’ll have to dry it off as soon as the motor works and heats up the ice. I drive perhaps once a week now so I’ve just accepted it πŸ™‚ The weeks before when I drove to pick up parcels however I had no such problems at all.

The horrible wind we had yesterday was even more so today, not even the forest managed to keep it away. So I’m now for the first time this winter wearing my winter jacket. The wind will calm down towards Friday but instead we’ll get snow!!! I had hoped we had seen the last of that white garbage this winter πŸ™‚ I know it was stupid because if we’re unlucky winter can continue here until early May but it was a long time ago that happened.

If I had known if we would have an early spring this coming year I would have started the sowing now. Some I think I need to sow now, perennials, bushes and trees that needs a period with cold temperatures to be able to germinate. I also have some things that needs a long growth period before they start to flower, like tomatoes for instance, but it is way too early to sow them now, too warm indoors and too little daylight so they grow slow enough. Not even having a greenhouse now will help a lot with that.

There’s a newly dug hole in the old tree stump, I wonder what animal lives there. Could be a water vole, Ratty in the Wind in the willows are a water vole, I only see them as big aggressive monsters πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day. I baked two loafs of bread earlier today. I’ve already had a couple of slices but one can never have too many when they are absolutely fresh πŸ™‚ I haven’t caught a mouse in two days now. I know there’s at least one still here, I could hear it earlier today. I hope they haven’t learned that they’ll get caught in the box trap πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The monsterkitten has been down in the cool cellar so I’m pretty sure she’s after it and hopefully successful in taking it.

Have a great day!

A nasty biting wind.

The day started rather nice even though it was -6C (21,2F) but there was no wind so it didn’t feel that bad when I let the dogs out after we’d woken up. The sun rose and it felt even better until the wind started to blow. A bitter cold wind that made its way in to the bones in my body.

Today the wind blew from north-east and it’s the only time it actually reach my cottage and garden (well it reaches from east as well). We were mostly in the forest while having our walks so in there it was quite a lot better. Still not an animal moved and not birds made any sound, not even the Jays.

So we’ve done very little today just because of the wind. The most exiting thing I did was to make pancakes πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Also I ate the last of the christmas food and that’s always a relief to be honest. Holiday food is always great the first two days but after that it’s just annoying to have to continue eating it πŸ™‚

No mice in the box trap today so perhaps I’ve now thinned most of them out πŸ™‚ I will not shout hi before I crossed the creek though (old Swedish saying). It might just be that they now learned that no matter how tasty coconut flakes are it still isn’t worth trying to reach them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day. I think I’ll read a book or perhaps surf the net. To be honest, how often do You get out on the internet without having something already planned? I rarely do because no matter how much info there is about frogs in Africa or monkeys in Asia or what ever I rarely just go out and search for anything unless I really need to know about something special. I could do like that back in the days we had dictionaries, just open a book and read the first subject on a random page and then just keep on following references in that text πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It was actually quite fun and I did learn a lot by doing so πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Dark and grey again even though we almost could see the sun for a few seconds in the afternoon πŸ™‚ We were supposed to have rain but it missed us. Perhaps a good thing because there’s so much water in the creek now that if we would get lots more it would overflow.

I could see a few ravens in the sky but no other bigger animals, they tend to stay where it is calm and today was nothing but. We did however see a big forest machine in the distance and the sound from it stressed Alma so much, she really doesn’t like strange sounds or any change what so ever. We managed to have a walk without her freaking out too much anyway πŸ™‚

I realised how old I am now when I was on Reddit and looked at their different forums about aquariums. Back in the days when I was a kid I learned one way to have and keep an aquarium healthy and have never really changed my ways as it has worked well. Today having an aquarium is high tech! They fertilise the plants, use CO2 as well and they even use soil Β and having soil in aquariums was something they always said was a big no no.

They also test for the, for me, most odd things like ammonium. Can’t remember that I ever had a problem with that, must smell horribly if that happens πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I don’t however think necessarily were better back then but it sure was less complicated and less expensive πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Anyway when I looked at those forums I started to remember all the old books I read until they broke and realised I don’t have any left and started to look on the net. So now I have two of those books I read and a third is on its way. These are of course old school because I’ll never start with any of that they do now days πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The book that’s on its way is printed in 1938 so it’ll be interesting to see how things have changed since then πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day. There’s absolutely nothing I want to watch on tv so I guess I’ll be reading those two books all evening long πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

A new morning routine :-)

We’ve had two really grey and dark days but today the sun suddenly appeared again (of course not while we were out walking) and it felt really strange πŸ™‚ It didn’t give any heat away though so I guess it appeared just for show πŸ™‚ Still we were in the garden enjoying it as much as we could. It is and has been very windy as well but no wind could reach us here in the garden.

Well I guess it’s a bit wrong to call it logs, they’ll grind it down and make pellets of them. So this is the place I let the mice free.

It was so dark for a while yesterday so I switched to black and white for a short while.

I’ve sort of started a new routine. Wake up and let the dogs out to the garden and when they’ve come in I go down to the cool cellar and check what the box trap has caught during the night. When it gets brighter outside I take the mouse/mice out to the forest in the travel box and let them out just beside a big pile of logs they haven’t removed yet and walk hone.

The clouds thinned out so I turned back to cooler again πŸ™‚

When I come home I leash the dogs and out we go on our morning walk. They are really interested in the smells at that pile of logs πŸ™‚ Alma seems to have understood that if she is quiet we will see bigger animals and two days ago we saw a big moose. Unfortunately just as it vanished in to the forest so I didn’t get a chance to take a photo. Lately I’ve driven to the different places where I can pick up parcels so we might have our walk after that instead, it’s usually brighter outside if we do it that way.

Thankfully I don’t have any more parcels waiting to be picked up so I hope I don’t have to go anywhere until Monday when I’ll visit my old work friends again and also do that last christmas food shopping. I need a small ham and mustard and I’ll also check what I need for making gingerbreads. It’s always nice to have some gingerbreads at christmas but the gluten free we can but are an abomination to the world but I’ve made this kind before and they are delicious but perhaps a bit strong spice-wise πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea and most likely a slice or two of the just a few hours old VΓΆrtbrΓΆd I baked today πŸ™‚

Have a great day!
