A warm day, well a warm winter day and most of the snow is almost gone now. I found some in the forest and places where the sun can’t reach yet but mostly what’s left is ice. We had a meh fog all morning, wasn’t useful for anything to be honest and to be even more honest that fog was mostly misty rain so small water droplets covered the glasses after a short while.Β

Β  Β

We walked out to the bog and today I praised both Alma and Malkolm so many times and giving them treats that I think giving them dinner later in the day was just like over feeding them both πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I doubt this behaviour won’t last for long but I’m happy for the days I get πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

Β  Β

I have finally figured out how to reduce the size on my photos in the new computer, only took around half an hour and only twenty more to figure out how to save the changes as well, one can say what one wants about PC programs but they are actually quite obvious when it comes to those things. When I do resize the photo I can see how many KB or MB they have become after the change but if I go in to check it in the album the size is right but it still says the original MB the photo was?? Well I’ll figure it out in time πŸ™‚ :-)It is fun to figure it out but it is mostly so annoying πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

Β  Β

Besides that I’ve had a nice calm day. My neighbors car didn’t pass the annual vehicle inspectionΒ  so I picked up her in a village called Floby some distance away so she could come home again, there aren’t any communication that comes even close to here unless one wants to have a day trip looking at the environment πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Wouldn’t have worked today though because it went almost dark before we arrived to the village πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I love living here but when our cars misbehave it can be a bit of a struggle to be honest.

Β  Β

My antenna cable has arrived at the grocery store in Gudhem today, so I’ll go there to pick it up tomorrow morning. I’ll check if I need anything since I’m there, otherwise I had planned to go on either Sunday morning or Monday. I normally just shave off the hair on my head three times a year and since it is as warm as it is and it’ll stay like this, they’re guessing, for a week I did it yesterday. Now I don’t need to think of doing that for three to four months πŸ™‚ I started to do that when I powder painted at my old job, as soon as the hair becomes longer tan two to three centimeters (slightly less or slightly more than inch)the powder sort of became like concrete and wouldn’t move no matter how thorough one wash the hair. Having that paint there gave all kinds of problems and dandruff is the least of them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

Β  Β

It is time to have that last cup of tea for the day, I’m not really hungry but sort of wants something, I think I’ll have a banana πŸ™‚

Have a great day!Β

I put up the wildlife camera for two weeks when we had the snowstorm and the only thing the camera got was this hare, it had found the deer food I had tossed out πŸ™‚

I think Sara’s mother came from this farm. I haven’t seen her since we found Sara so I don’t think the mother is still alive.

The weather has really been boring for a couple of days now but it is well above 0 C (32 f) so I’m not complaining too much. The cottage becomes a mess though because since the dogs don’t want to be outdoors besides for walk they play indoors instead πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ They aren’t allowed to do it in the living room because of the aquarium so mostly they play in my bed πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

This was all sunshine I saw yesterday, not much but beautiful and a lot more than today πŸ™‚

Β  Β

Today was a good day for Alma, not so much yesterday though but the periods when she is calmer seems to stay longer now. In this speed I’ll be long gone and dead by the time she’ll be able to behave like most other dogs, a year ago I’d never thought that would happen so it’s a step forward πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β I took a look at the trees in the cool cellar and despite that it actually has been pretty cold down there Some of them now shows new leafs! I don’t want that to happen πŸ™‚ They are supposed to rest until at least early March Now I’ll have huge problems rearranging everything so that they’ll get light as well. I’ve also had a walk in the garden to examine how the new smaller trees are doing in the garden.

Β  Β

The Pawpaws look really healthy and have little to no frost damages and it’s the same with the Camellias I placed out there because they just too too much space in the cool cellar. I think that if winter doesn’t get colder than it has been so far they might even survive, I’m not counting on that though but they do look healthy. I have three different Mulberry trees out there too, A black called “Mulle” and it is the least hardy of them. Rather big frost injuries on that one but it will most likely survive and if it does it will become hardier next winter. I also have a white Mulberry tree and it is supposed to be the hardiest one but that too has some big frost injuries but it is far better than the black one. The one that has managed the winter best so far without any frost problems is the Red mulberry. I have two more in the cellar and it is of course those that has been growing new leafs πŸ™‚ I have no idea how this will affect them towards next winter when they’ll be standing in the garden.

Β  Β  Β

The Persimmon tree looks really well as well. I was a bit worried about that tree because some fungi had attacked it during summer and it looked so sad before it got cold πŸ™‚ I also had those new branches that grew up from the roots of the dead persimmon hybrid, well they are no more but not because of the cold but because unknown dogs πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ had trampled them down while playing in the garden. I hope I’ll get lucky, even though this year has been anything but, and that new branches will grow up because then I’ll protect them so much better.

Β  Β  Β

It has finally stopped with shorter days and longer nights πŸ™‚ Today the sun rose somewhere behind the clouds at 8:53 am and set at 3:16 pm here where I live in the village at the outskirts of the world. Some places further north haven’t seen the sun for ages. Then again we’ll get it back during summer where the sun won’t set at all for a long time. Even here further south it’ll be bright for a long time after the sun has set because of the angle towards the sun so when the day is at its longest we still only will have a couple of hours when it’s almost dark. Well it is time for that last cup of tea with lots of ginger in it and then I’ll most likely fall asleep in front of the tv.

Β  Β

Have a great day!

So I went with my neighbor to get my car this morning and thankfully those working in the reception start half an hour early because it was a bit too chilly to have to stand and wait outside until I could get my car πŸ™‚ I would have survived but it wouldn’t have been nice πŸ™‚

Lots of lichens on the trees says we have a very clean air here.

Β

I was going to the store as well today but it was too early for that as well, so I drove to my old work place and made a visit to my old work friends. TimesΒ  are hard now so they didn’t have much to do. I may not like the leadership of that place but I don’t want my old friends to lose their jobs. The leadership made a huge miscalculation to how much we would have to do when they started the evening/night shift so people have had to go. Well that happens when one believes one is a god but quite frankly is dumb as a doorknob πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β

After that I went to the grocery store in that village, I’ve done most of my grocery shopping there since I moved to this county and that’s over 27 years now, so I won’t stop now just because I don’t live nearby. I don’t go there as often though but since I know them all it’s worth the trip every now and again πŸ™‚ I didn’t have any shopping list today but surprisingly I managed to get everything I wanted but for a cheese. I remember that I turned towards the cheese but something caught my eye and I never got one with me home πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So it’s a good thing that I have a neighbor working at a supermarket πŸ™‚ So now I have what I need for almost a week I think πŸ™‚

Β  Β

I think someone is out cutting down trees somewhere close to the creek. To be honest I can’t hear anything sounding like those huge saws they have but something big that makes a lots of noise works down there anyway. I don’t think anyone will work there tomorrow so I think I’ll have our morning walk there tomorrow. If they work we won’t come anywhere near before Alma freaks out, she is very sensitive to noise and it doesn’t have to be especially loud, she was so stressed on our walk today and we walked far away. Next time we’ll go to the vet I’ll ask him if there’s anything I can give her so she doesn’t work herself up like she does. It has gone worse again after Nova had to leave.

Β  Β

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I might make myself a couple of sandwiches, perhaps have some christmas ham, beetroot salad(I’ve understood that our beetroot salad isn’t the same You have on the other side of the ocean, we have vinegar and mayo as the base in ours) and I might even have a couple of slices of strong cheese πŸ™‚

Not many photos from the wild life camera lately. So here’s one of the cats from the farm uphill πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

It was snowing when we woke up and went out to the garden this morning, mostly tiny flakes though so the roads are white but barely no snow can be seen in the fields. Pretty cold outside but it was the wind that made it feeling too cold. Not around here in my garden but when we passed the fields the cold wind blew right through me.

Β  Β

There are lots of these old roads in to the forest, they were made so that it would be easier to get timber in and out of the forest.

We walked down to the creek and followed it down stream. The surface has already started to freeze, mostly because the water flows really slow because there’s apparently a log blocking the water flowing. So since this is the first time Malkolm has seen frozen water in the creek he happily took a step out on it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β  Thankfully it was easy to pull him up since he’s wearing a harness πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ He didn’t go down especially far, only up to his stomach so he had wet legs mostly. I think he enjoyed it though πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The secret passage. It’s almost impossible to see the opening even when looking at in the real. Could be a way to Narnia, I should try it some day πŸ™‚

Β  Β

The day has been calm after that, we’ve been in and out to the garden and I brought in the wildlife camera, just three blurry photos of our fox. It does look really healthy and it has thankfully been a long time since we had Fox scabies in this area. Dogs can get it as well and it’s easy to get rid of, not to the fox though and they usually scratch themselves to death. My old dogs got it fairly often, three of the four scratched themselves like crazy but the fourth showed no signs of having it. Turns out that some dogs can have it but never react to it, the scabies itself isn’t dangerous for the animal but it’s the mites pooping they are allergic to. She was full of it but never reacted.

Β  Β

I’ve baked some bread today and since the oven was working I threw in some brined pork after the bread was out. Smelled fantastic πŸ™‚ I think I’ll make macaroni pudding tomorrow and put the pork in it. I think however I’ll make it closer to mac and cheese than the traditional way with eggs and milk and I do hope rice pasta will work. Rice pasta never need to boil for long so I was thinking of perhaps just let it sit in water for a while before mixing it all together and let it soften in the oven.

Β  Β  Β

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I’ll have some of the bread I just baked. I think I’ll have perhaps some ham and blue cheese on it πŸ™‚

Malkolm and Sara playing in the living room, a bit blurry but I wanted You all too see how vicious she is πŸ™‚

Β  Β

Have a great day!

Grey and dull.

The weather has been grey and dull and we’ve had misty rain most of the time. Also so dark that I’ve had to have lights on all day. We’ve been out in the forest but to be honest this day has sucked the energy out of us all so not even Alma was especially overjoyed to have any walks πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

I must admit that I will be happy when the elections in the US are over πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Our different tv companies has shown bigger interest in this election that they’ve done to our own πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Today for instance they showed when the Polling stations opened up all over the country, discussed everything and anything about the presidential candidates, pros and cons for us and our economy and to be honest a little too much enthusiastic over all. They’ve checked how we Swedes would vote if we were allowed and 80% would vote for Kamala (I think Obama would have gotten over 92% but that was before our fascists grew big), only the fascists would vote for the orange nazi. I’ll also be very happy when all the spam mail begging for money will end coming to my e-mail account πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’m up to 60 e-mails every day now.

Β  Β  Β

We’ve been in the garden quite a lot today because it has been rather warm. There’s still two walnuts hanging in the tree and it seems they refuse to fall down, I have peeled all the walnuts that has fallen down. The misty rain forced us to go inside rather often, misty rain eats its way through any form of clothes so it really isn’t nice after a while. So instead I’ve baked two loafs of bread, not a total success but way better than the last time. The odd thing is that one actually can cut a couple of slices just after it has come out from the oven but try it a few seconds later and the bread just collapses πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So since it was so dark and gloomy today and like always this time of year I felt a little Christmas spirit I made some rice porridge πŸ™‚ And of course I used the Christmas porridge plate πŸ™‚

It is basically round rice (even though any rice can be used, it just gets a slightly different texture). First boiled in some water for 15 minutes and after that let it simmer in milk in around 40 to 60 minutes.

I do have a piece of cinnamon in it while it boils but when it is done I sprinkle more over it all and today I also added some strawberry jam πŸ™‚

No wolves yesterday either but a couple of Roe deer instead. Alma’s tail indicated that they might not be around any longer but there are plenty of other animals around so I hope our fox pass by soon. Back in the days when we had lots of moose here they quite often passed by even during day time, so there’s a minimal chance the camera might be able to get one of those too. I doubt that and Red deer or Fallow deer will come close enough though, they are still too shy to come close to our cottages.

It is time for that last cup of tea and most likely a sandwich or two. Both the dogs and the kitten will have a tiny piece each. I’m not surprised that the dogs like it but Sara the cat will go insane if she doesn’t get some too πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The hunters were out until just after noon so we could have a walk in the forest while there was daylight. Thankfully we have no wind now because it fell down to -15C (5F) last night, much less cold during the day though but the temperature will drop just as low tonight again.

We went out to the bog and even though we didn’t see any animals we could hear what I think was a complaining wild hog while it ran away from us. No small birds or any birds to be honest. I guess the bigger ones stay close to the roads to eat what has been killed by traffic during the night and the smaller ones seems to be at my feeders πŸ™‚

The Wood Grouse might not be a Wood Grouse after all. People knowing birds better than I do says the coloring is wrong. It has the size of one though so until they can tell me what it actually is I’ll still call it a Wood Grouse. It can be a crossing with the Black Grouse though, they do look different in their colors. It is still around every day though and I’ve noticed that it hasn’t any tail feathers, a close call with a lynx perhaps?

We also had a visit from our local fox last night, I had the camera up for three days and as long as it snowed it stayed away, cold weather doesn’t seem to disturb it though.

-10C (14F) here last night but despite it being well below 0C (32F) all day it still was a pretty nice day. The sun was even so warm that all snow on the south side of the cottage roof melted away. It was the lack of wind that did the trick.

I haven’t done a single thing of what I usually do on Sundays. No dinner for next week, no laundry done and no vacuuming either which is really needed now. Then again the dirt won’t go away and now when it is as cold as it is none of us will bring in any more dirt anyway. The only good thing with these temperatures, even the dust has frozen to the ground πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I have done rice porridge but I forgot to start it in the early morning, I did it however early enough so that I could have some after a later walk πŸ™‚ I was thinking, for a second, that I should decorate the tree as well but I’ll wait with that because the tree is nice enough with only the lights shining in it.Β  The advent candlestick will have to wait since the snow covers all moss and lichens I would be able to find if there wasn’t any snow on the ground. The sad thing is that we’ll get more snow later next week so it’ll be even harder to find anything.

Blue tit. I’ve seen people asking where all the Blue tits have gone when looking on the net, it used to be one of the most common birds by the feeders. They’ve always been around here until this year. It wasn’t until yesterday I saw the first ones by my feeders so they are becoming more rare. I did read however that they are the tits that most common migrates during winter so I do hope that’s the reason we don’t see them as much now days.

I woke up way too early today, just before seven am but I’m still not tired so I do hope the tiredness doesn’t come too early because I need to stay up quite late since I’ll be working tomorrow. We had a rather nice morning here today, no wind, just below 0C (32F) and almost sunshine. We walked down to the creek and Alma behaved pretty well for most of the time.

Nova on the other hand is still pretty annoyed because she’s leashed and she really don’t like that. I’ve told her that if she can’t behave and come when I call her (and sign for her to come, I’ve always learned my dogs signs for different things since many of them lost most of their hearing when going old) she will be leashed whether she likes it or not πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It is winter so I thought I should make lots of rice porridge, so I put the ingredients in the slow cooker and it was ready to eat when we came back from our walk to the bog later on. It takes around three hours to do it in the slow cooker but the risk of the porridge being burned is almost none to nothing. It takes at least an hour if doing it on the stove and then it just takes one mistake and the porridge will burn πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I made the porridge a bit sweeter today because I was also longing for cookies πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ To make it even sweeter I also put some jam in it just before eating it, no craving for cookies after eating that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I have however not done the laundry and no dinner for next week at work. I just didn’t want to to be honest. So I’ll do the laundry tomorrow before work and I’ll see what I can find in the freezer, I think I have meatballs and sausages in there and I can add an egg or two and perhaps some pasta or potatoes as well. It’ll be exciting to see how many that will turn up to work tomorrow, there are still a few people that weren’t sick last week so it might be their turn now.

The fox came for several visits last night again. I did cheat and put out some dog food but it still moved a bit too fast so most photos were blurry. I’l see what I can do about that tonight, I’ve placed the camera a bit lower this time and I’ll place the dog food in one place and not just throw it out like I did yesterday. The reason I just threw it yesterday was because I had two dogs that would have loved to eat it and I had to do it while they were busy with other things πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
