A nice visitor :-)

Windy and cold all day but I did see a little patch of blue sky when we went out on our morning walk. I had been to the supermarket before we went out though to buy yeast. I tried baking soda bread but I’m never good at it, plus don’t eat too much soda bread because it destroys all vitamin b and that’s something we don’t want to have too little of. After that I went to the dollar store to buy bird seeds, they are so much c cheaper than any other store and before going home I went to the pet store to buy two small fish, Siamese algae eaters.

The wind is horrible and it really drains the life out of us but it does make the electricity bill less expensive since the wind power plants works like crazy πŸ™‚ We managed to keep away from most of the wind by walking in the forest though. It sounded like we scared away a lot of animals Β when we walked out to the bog, mostly wild hogs I guess because they’ve been working hard to get down in to the ground to find something to eat.

We had been at home just a short while when my neighbour called and said that I shouldn’t let the dogs out because we had a visitor in the garden. So I took a look and indeed we had πŸ™‚ A beautiful Roe deer was walking around eating what it could find on the ground. It felt so safe that it eventually just laid down and fell asleep πŸ™‚ The garden must smell an awful lot of dog so I wonder why it felt so safe here? perhaps we have a wolf here again and even if it smells of dog here it still felt more safe than having a wolf coming too close?

I eventually had to go outside and tell it to leave since the dogs needed to go outside πŸ™‚ So it trotted away, jumped over the fence and walked towards the cow pasture instead. It might come back tonight again because I think it has been hanging around for some time now, the dogs always run around the fence and garden like crazy when they go outside and early this morning Alma barked at something outside the fence. It did look as it had much to eat here as well, it stayed in the garden for well over five hours πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea and I’ll also have a roll I just baked now when I finally can leave the tries to bake soda bread πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Cold again but at least sunny.

I had to go to the supermarket this morning because since Malkolm will be neutered tomorrow I don’t want to leave him until he has healed properly. I’m not the least worried he would do anything to the area (I guess there won’t be any stitches that he can try and remove though) but I’m worried Alma won’t leave him alone πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So I made sure to have enough at home to last until at least Sunday and I also went in to the big pet store beside the supermarket to buy dog shampoo. (I also bought some fish while I was there, Siamese algea eater) . He was not happy when he had to get a shower I can tell You that πŸ™‚ I had top carry him in to the shower but he didn’t try to escape when he finally was there. He looked like I was about to ritually slaughter him πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ He wasn’t dirty at allot be honest but it had to be done. I thought dog shampoos smelled better, this one smelled like a bad dish washing detergent πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We had a nice walk in the sunshine and even though it actually was quite cold it still didn’t feel that bad, I could even open up my winter jacket. There was no wind what so ever so we have even spent a long time in the garden today. I couldn’t do anything more than to move a pot where I had sowed Alpine aster in to the green house. I did try and move another pot but it had already frozen to the ground πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I also baked some French rolls and used the millet flour instead of the Sorghum flour I usually have. They rose so nicely in the beginning but the closer it came to put them in the oven the flatter they became πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I can still cut them in half like a roll though πŸ™‚ The taste did differ a bit but the taste of nuts sort of vanished this time. So not bad at all but I’ll try something else the next time. I didn’t buy a lot of millet flour because it was anything but cheap but it is fun to try it πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea and I’ll have another one of those rolls as well. Tonight they show our Oscar gala, Guldbagge galan (The Golden Beatle award). I haven’t seen any of the nominated films but they say that this was a good year for Swedish films.

Have a great day!

Finally, it is getting less cold!

Β

It is slowly but steadily getting less cold now and that makes me smile. Thankfully we had clouds covering the sky during most parts of last night so it wasn’t as cold as they guessed it would be but to cold for me πŸ™‚

So it almost felt warm when we went out for our morning walk today, only -11C (12,2F). No wind and a thick layer of clouds so the whole area sort of had a led grey hue to it. Β The wild life had noticed the change towards less cold as well so today we saw lots of tracks in the snow. Mostly wild hogs but also deer, both Roe and red deer and also some moose tracks. The squirrels are to light to make any prints in the hard surface the snow now has (still powdery beneath the surface though) but the foxes were just enough heavy to make paw prints.

We did hear a few smaller birds tweeting close to the village but that was it, no Jays or Ravens made any sounds. A squirrel ran down a pine trunk on the back side of the tree but we could hear it and just had to follow the snow that fell from the surface while the squirrel ran downwards. It felt like walking in a world where only the vegetation was left. Well the whining from Alma sort of destroyed that feeling a bit but she was actually much more quiet than she normally is.

Tomorrow I’ll brush off all snow from the car and go to the supermarket. I really don’t have much left in the larder or the fridge πŸ™‚ I also need seeds for the birds, some birds just don’t like peanuts, especially not those who only comes to the feeders when it’s too hard to find food in the forest like the Bullfinches. To be honest they are rare then to but it looks like both the House sparrow and the field sparrow prefers seeds before peanuts.Β

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day. If I hadn’t had dinner just an hour ago I woukld have made a couple of sandwiches because I made some French rolls yesterday that almost tasted like normal ones and as always I’ll never recreate them since I just mixed together what ever kind of flour I had. Perhaps one day I should write it all down πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

This must be the most sad looking Thuja in the world. The ground is dry and it never get any sunshine πŸ™‚

I guess it’s ok during Christmas :-)

They said the chance/ risk, depending on how one look at it, that we in southern Sweden would get a white christmas was slim to none, so I wasn’t especially surprised when I let the dogs out this morning that we had snow on the ground Β πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Also it continued to snow for quite some time and the temperature has dropped so we will have a white Christmas here this year.

I had a parcel waiting for me at the grocery store in Gudhem so I decided that it was best to pick it up before we went out on our morning walk. I had ordered an aquarium book from 1942 so that I would have something to read this christmas plus the fact it is so old that I would be able to read about cold water fish people since long has forgotten about πŸ™‚ I had hoped to find shredded coconut as well because I had forgotten to buy some when I went to the store yesterday. There’s nothing mice seems to like more than shredded coconut. Unfortunately they didn’t have any but it did remind me of potatoes when I saw the last two bags they had πŸ™‚

A sort of a second flowering πŸ™‚

It is actually quite hard to see these huge animals as long as they stand totally still.

This morning the box had trapped three mice! This time a definitely recognised one of them. Some time in its life it had lost a part of its tail so it was easily recognisable. I went out with them before I drove to the store. We went out on our morning walk as soon as I came home and walked much the same way as when I released the mice. We passed the last little field before entering the forest and something caught my attention. I didn’t see them at first but then I saw them, three moose! One big cow, one calf and the third too small to be an adult moose but still too big to be a calf. I’ve seen them before a couple of times and felt happy that they’ve survived the hunting season so far.

The dogs didn’t see them but they understood they were somewhere near πŸ™‚ I must say that Alma has come a long way, just a few months earlier and she would have gone berserk πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ For once she actually started to follow the scents on the ground instead of screaming like obsessed and whining like she has gone crazy πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We didn’t see any more big animals but both Alma and Malkolm kept their noses to the ground for the entire walk πŸ™‚

I have actually been rather active today because when we came home again the first thing I saw when I went down in the cool cellar was that the trap had another prisoner. Well if that mouse with the short tail come here again I just as well get a cage and have it as a pet πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It wasn’t the least stressed to see me, rather the opposite to be honest πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It had taken it slightly more than two hours to find its way home again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I just took the trap and walked even further away before I released it again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I was worried for a while that I for some reason had all forest mice and yellow necked mice in the entire area but I think I’ve just caught the same ones all the time πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

After that I made the gingerbread dough. The recipe said that I should have agave syrup and coconut fat but since I’m not a millionaire I used normal syrup and butter. The dough will rest until tomorrow morning before I make the cookies. I will however not be without anything nice to eat today because my neighbours daughters (six and three years old I think) wanted me to have something as a christmas gift, so they made me some fudge and butterscotch to have during christmas, well it won’t last that long because it was delicious πŸ™‚

After that I baked two loafs of VΓΆrtbrΓΆd, they came out rather nice, I and the dogs have already tried a couple of slices with a christmas cheese πŸ™‚ So tomorrow I’ll bake the gingerbreads and also grill the christmas ham. I bought a small already cooked one because now days we really don’t use the water it was cooked in as they did back in the days when every calorie one could get was important. They used to heat it up and dip stale bread in it the get up all the fat still in the rather salty water. It has never been a favourite of mine so I buy ready cooked instead.

It is time to have that last cup of tea for the day and of course some of the christmas candy my neighbours gave me πŸ™‚ Tomorrow is our big day of christmas and if I get some time over I’ll write something here πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

A new morning routine :-)

We’ve had two really grey and dark days but today the sun suddenly appeared again (of course not while we were out walking) and it felt really strange πŸ™‚ It didn’t give any heat away though so I guess it appeared just for show πŸ™‚ Still we were in the garden enjoying it as much as we could. It is and has been very windy as well but no wind could reach us here in the garden.

Well I guess it’s a bit wrong to call it logs, they’ll grind it down and make pellets of them. So this is the place I let the mice free.

It was so dark for a while yesterday so I switched to black and white for a short while.

I’ve sort of started a new routine. Wake up and let the dogs out to the garden and when they’ve come in I go down to the cool cellar and check what the box trap has caught during the night. When it gets brighter outside I take the mouse/mice out to the forest in the travel box and let them out just beside a big pile of logs they haven’t removed yet and walk hone.

The clouds thinned out so I turned back to cooler again πŸ™‚

When I come home I leash the dogs and out we go on our morning walk. They are really interested in the smells at that pile of logs πŸ™‚ Alma seems to have understood that if she is quiet we will see bigger animals and two days ago we saw a big moose. Unfortunately just as it vanished in to the forest so I didn’t get a chance to take a photo. Lately I’ve driven to the different places where I can pick up parcels so we might have our walk after that instead, it’s usually brighter outside if we do it that way.

Thankfully I don’t have any more parcels waiting to be picked up so I hope I don’t have to go anywhere until Monday when I’ll visit my old work friends again and also do that last christmas food shopping. I need a small ham and mustard and I’ll also check what I need for making gingerbreads. It’s always nice to have some gingerbreads at christmas but the gluten free we can but are an abomination to the world but I’ve made this kind before and they are delicious but perhaps a bit strong spice-wise πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea and most likely a slice or two of the just a few hours old VΓΆrtbrΓΆd I baked today πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

They behaved really well today :-)

Rain all day long, not even the monster likes to go outside. It is warmish outside though but that doesn’t help much since we really can’t be outside anyway.

The travel cage for hamsters that I bought arrived today so I went to the grocery store in Gudhem to pick it up. They have so many parcels there now that one really can’t wait a day or so to pick it up, sort of annoying since I’ll get another one tomorrow. I’ll most likely have to go to the supermarket in Skara to pick up another one and that’s a bit annoying since that means I’ll almost go all the way back home just to continue 20 km the other way πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We went out to the bog this morning and we could hear lots of animals moving around. I must say that both Alma and Malcolm showed their best behaviour all the way, even when we met a young Fallow deer buck. There was some whining and some pulling the leash but I don’t think they ever have behaved better than today πŸ™‚ Before our morning walk however I went out to the forest by myself with the box trap.

It had caught a small yellow necked mouse but it was still so dark that I had to wait a couple of hours before I could release it. When it was time to do it another one sat in the trap as well πŸ™‚ Rather big so I guess the small one was a female and the big one a male. There was no coconut flakes left so I guess the big one wasn’t out to get fed πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ This time I went further away in to the forest just to make sure they can’t find their way back home again πŸ™‚

The Fallow deer buck has two tiny antlers, hard to see though. Must be around two years old.

Now I don’t have to walk out to the forest with two cowards following me to release the mice, They can stay in this cage until it is time. I’ve put some peanuts in it so they have something to eat while waiting πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea and I’ll also have the last of the ice cream. I’ll buy more tomorrow since I most likely will have to get that parcel at the supermarket anyway πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Mice and Christmas bread.Mice.

Sorry about the quality on the photos. None of them came out especially well.

Β

Nothing much have happened here today. I noticed the other day that the monsterkitten has been a bit sloppy when it comes to hunting mice because I found mouse poop in the cool cellar. So I put up a box trap and filled it with coconut flakes. Our mice love coconut and I think it’s the best thing to load traps with, at least when it comes to box traps. It took a bit longer than I thought but today when I went down to the cellar I found two mice in it! Last time I had to use the box trap I only caught house mice but this time it was two Yellow-necked wood mice. I waited until we had daylight and then I carried the box to the forest. I always leave them at the same place, at a piece of tree trunk which is hollow. I poured down a handful of peanuts so they have a full stomach before finding a new home.

They were so fast when running out of the trap that I didn’t have a chance to take any photo of them, the house mice I’ve caught are always a bit slower so I have photos of them in an old computer. I have also baked a traditional christmas bread today. We call it VΓΆrtbrΓΆd and the only English name I found for it is a Swedish word, Limpa which means loaf πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It is normally a rye bread but since I can’t eat that I used my normal mix of Sorghum flour, rice flour and normally corn starch but I forgot to buy that so I used corn flour. There are a lot of spices in it as well, malt extract, salt, cloves, bitter orange peel, anise, fennel and cardamom plus one should use a dark beer like Porter or why not a Guinness. For us who can’t have that a Swedish Julmust (it isn’t far from beer tasting) Β works good as well πŸ™‚ The two loafs I made taste just yummy πŸ™‚

Β

VΓΆrtbrΓΆd. The colours are a bit off here, it’s much more dark brown and not at all towards the orangey brown as it looks here.

Also one can have raisins in the bread (half of us love it half hate it πŸ™‚ ) and I did of course forget to buy any so instead I cut down dried apricots instead, not the same but surprisingly well working. I’ll make more loafs closer to christmas. I’ve had a couple of slices while they were warm so when warm it’s cheese on but as cold why not have christmas ham and beetroot salad (not the American kind but our mayo and pickled beetroot based one) and of course meatballs or perhaps wiener sausages as well πŸ™‚ Pickled cucumber is almost a must πŸ™‚ It is time for that last cup of tea and also I’ve just realised that I have forgotten to give the animals something to eat. I will of course have a couple of sandwiches with christmas ham and pickled cucumbers πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Another cold day, the temperature reached 0C (32F) as highest and to be honest that’s not so cold this time of year now days. I remember one year, about 21 years ago when winter started with snow and below freezing temperatures all the time in October and it lasted until early May. Lots of snow as well so that was for me a nightmare winter πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ and I hope it’ll never happen again πŸ™‚

I could hear the wind blowing in the tree tops but it never reached the ground. So even if the sun was hesitant to show itself we still had a nice morning walk, especially since Alma only whines once in a while. Β She pulled the leash like insane some times though but rather that than her high pitched whining. For me that sound is like a fork drawn over a plate would be like for the rest of the world I guess and hearing it constantly on every walk (which lasts at least an hour, often much more) it’s like torture. So days when she only does it every now and again are joyful days πŸ™‚

I got that light chain in the mail today, so I put it up in the spruce with an odd shape. No matter how I do the lights looks really odd πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Still any light is a good light. I’ll take photos tomorrow. I have one in my phone but either I miss something or the transfer of a photo from a phone to an iMac computer is ridiculously complicated. In a PC one just mail the photo to oneself and voila! It’s in the computer easily reach when needed, in an iMac not so unfortunately.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and today they show the weekly science program on tv. I’ve slept badly for a couple of days now because I have gotten pimples on my earlobes πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I didn’t know one could get pimples there but now I’ve learned something πŸ™‚ They hurt like h..l when I rest my head on the pillow. One on each ear so it doesn’t matter on what side I sleep on πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Normally or perhaps back in the days we would have winter now, mostly the temperatures would stay way below 0C (32F) at nights and barely reach above it if it even managed to do that. To be honest, I don’t miss it at all πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I know the greenhouse effect and climate change is anything but good for us but I must admit that I like these warmer days and nights.

I can’t tell You how warm it has been today because the battery died in the thermometer πŸ™‚ A new battery in today so I’ll know what it is like tomorrow πŸ™‚ They are however guessing that it might reach above 12C (53,6F) and it will stay like that until at least Friday. No sunshine though but cloudy and a bit rainy. With the sun shining it would have been t-shirt weather in my garden πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I went to the supermarket today and I saw a heard with Red deer not too far from the road and on my way home here in the village a young Fallow deer buck crossed the gravel road just in front of me. I saw it early so there was no risk of me hitting it with the car thankfully. Normally it is suicidal cats that cross the road way too close to the car so it was nice to see something else for once πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

This time of year is when I normally feel the Christmas feelings just to see them go away some time in the middle of December πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Not so far though, I guess I was annoyed enough to see a big Yule gnome (or Santa) standing by the entrance to the supermarket already in the middle of October. Personally I can’t understand those people who start with any holiday two months before it happens, I usually get tired of it after a week or two.

I’m not a Christmas present guy at all but I usually buy myself a present this time of year, something I really want but perhaps normally wouldn’t buy, not because it is expensive but because I really don’t need it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ One year I bought myself a Hasselblad camera for my birthday, I really didn’t need any camera since I do have way too many as it is anyway but I wanted to spoil myself with something πŸ™‚ Today I think I have around 60 cameras, both for film and digital ones πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ To be fair, most of them pretty cheap, like an over a hundred years old Kodak camera that I bought for less then $ 3 US πŸ™‚ It still works perfectly.

I have an idea about what I would like to buy this year even though I should be careful with money since I still am unemployed. So I will have to think a lot more about it before deciding. I’ll be just as happy at Christmas without it just as long as it doesn’t snow and is cold πŸ™‚ The last cup of tea for the day is standing beside me and after that there’s a science program on tv I want to watch πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

It could have been so nice if it wasn’t for the biting cold wind.

This could have been a really nice day if it wasn’t for the wind that has been blowing all day long, a cold biting wind that made it hard to stay outside for any longer period of time. Not even the dogs wanted to stay out for especially long and kept coming to the door to go inside again.

Cold and frosty in the morning and despite the sun hitting my car I still had to scrape ice from the windows at 9:30am, not a favourite thing to do πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Still the morning walk was quite nice because the wind hadn’t arrived yet and the sun still giving some warmth. We walked out to the bog and while we stood at the end of the peninsula we could hear something walking towards us. We never saw what it was but it did sound relatively big, like a red deer or perhaps a moose.

The dogs didn’t really react to it more than that they stared in the direction the sound came from and looked curious πŸ™‚ It was impossible for anything to walk silently in the forest because of all the frozen leafs on the ground, it sounded like we all were walking on cornflakes spread on a hard floor πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I went to the supermarket after we had come home because I had very little to eat in my fridge.

It was a costly trip, much more than I had expected πŸ™‚ I did buy everything on the list but I also went in to the pet shop (can one say it’s a pet shop supermarket because it’s really big that store?) I found a prefect food for my aquarium fish and it costed a fortune but then again the fish are few and will eat very little so it might last for the rest of my life πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Also I bought two new ceramic food bowls for the dogs, Malkolm seems very unwilling to eat from his old one made from some kind of metal. Those weren’t cheap either but oddly enough didn’t cost more than the fish food πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

After that I went to the Dollar store just around the corner and bought seeds for the wild birds in the garden. They also coast a little fortune but compared to any other store they were cheap πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I don’t want the birds to stop eating what they can find in the nature so I’ll only feed them when I know nights will be frosty. They still need to know how to find food if I for some reason can’t help them. They have noticed that birds who live in areas where lots of people feed them forgets how to find food elsewhere and even what things they can eat. I also only give them seed mixes even though they all most likely would love to just have sunflower seeds for much the same reason. We have very few sunflowers flowering here since those who do comes from either what we sow in our gardens or from bird seeds that birds brought with them from the feeders and dropped them on the way to where they can eat them safely.

It is time for a cup of coffee I think, it’s way too early for that last cup of the yet. I actually bought peanuts for the bird feeder by my kitchen window, I know mice climb up and eat those peanuts but that was before the little monster moved here πŸ™‚ She’s outside most nights and I’m pretty sure the mice soon will stop eating the peanuts because she’s a really good mouse hunter πŸ™‚

I have now two bigger and four smaller apricot trees in my garden and this is the only one giving me autumn colours.

Have a great day!

Wolves, eagles, ravens and a try from someone to scam my mother.

Yesterday mornings sunrise. We didn’t see much of the sun until just before it set.

So my mother just called me because she had gotten a text message from me saying I couldn’t manage any more, meaning needed money. Well the thing is that I haven’t sent her a message because I know she most likely don’t know how to answer πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So the one sending it wanted to scam her for money. What that person doesn’t know is that she barely knows how to make a call and wouldn’t be able to send any money until Monday when the banks open and only if she could get a ride πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I really don’t know how this works, if they can do the same to other relatives so I’ve been calling around to relatives so if they get the same message they won’t answer to it. This is at the moment a popular way to trick money out go people because who won’t help a child/ relative in need if they can? I’ve told my 89 year old mother to report it to the police even if it actually won’t help because like everywhere they have too little staff and no money to check in to it. Just imagine how much good these people could do if they tried to help people instead!

Yesterdays morning walk was a disaster πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ All of a sudden Malkolm refused to walk in front of me and Alma when we were walking on the very narrow path beside the creek. He did everything to avoid walking and it almost resulted in he almost tied my feet together with his leash. I just couldn’t understand what he was doing but after a long while we managed to continue. Normally he walks with his nose close to the ground but this time he looked straight ahead and pulled the leash unusually hard, then suddenly Alma joined him and they almost made me fall and they didn’t calm down until we were at home.

I can’t figure out what I didn’t understand him until I realised that they behaved like they did the first time we had wolves close to us πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ This time the reaction was much stronger so I guess that if I had looked around I might have seen it but I was more occupied in not getting tied up and fall πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I think we better avoid the creek for a while, not because I think the wolf still might be there but because it is still too fresh in his memory. So we walked out to the bog instead and today he was like he always is, nose glued to the ground and slightly pulling the leash. It was pretty cold and the temperature was quite low, -6C (21,2F). Thankfully we had sunshine and the sun is still warming up the air quite a lot.

So I have actually had the kitchen door open as long as the sun hit the southern wall. It is sad to see all the leafs falling off but when they are gone the sun hits that wall for a much longer time πŸ™‚ I could even turn off the radiators for several hours. Now it’s dark outside and the temperature will drop quite a lot again tonight.

I’m making rice porridge in the slow cooker and it’s almost time to have some πŸ™‚ So I’ll skip that last cup of tea for the day and enjoy the porridge instead with lots of raspberry jam πŸ™‚

Sometimes White tailed eagles flies over the cottage and they always have ravens chasing them.

The Raven is a rather big bird but looks pretty small beside the eagle.

Have a great day!

It did feel much colder.

Β

We had a beautiful sunny morning today but it was nasty cold. I don’t understand why it felt that could because we’ve had colder mornings that didn’t feel as bad πŸ™‚ Lots of frost, no wind and sunshine and still my hands froze to ice πŸ™‚Β

No moose flies or ticks though so that was a big plus πŸ™‚ We walked down to the creek and followed it up stream. Small birds were tweeting and they Jays screaming but the most noticeable sound was the frozen leafs falling to the ground, for a while I thought squirrels must be jumping between the trees and sort of was disappointed when I understood that it just was icy hard frozen leafs πŸ™‚Β

Today we finally could walk up and in to the older forest, nothing much had changed since the last time we were there except that the fallen trees had been removed. I don’t know why but it always feel safe when walking there and it is a bit odd since there’s nothing dangerous anywhere in this surrounding πŸ™‚ Also compact spruce forest isn’t even my favourite kind of forest to be honest. I guess it’s because not a sound from the outside world can reach in there, not even now when all leafs are falling off the trees outside.

he temperature managed to rise up to 10C (50F) but not even the sunshine could make it so nice that I could have the kitchen door open. We were outside in the garden quite a lot but each time a bit short because the dogs wanted to go inside, none of them are cold weather dogs πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well it is that time of year so we better get used to the colder weather. The supermarket has already put up a Christmas tree by the entrance and it is full of coloured lights. I wonder why they want us to hate Christmas by the time it’s actually here?

This little cold I have makes me more tired than I thought it would be so today we took a long nap the dogs and I. Well I’m getting older so I guess I’ll have to get used to that even smaller colds have this effect on me now. I can’t say I feel especially sick but it seems my body really doesn’t care about that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The only thing I’ve actually done today is to order new spiked winter shoes. A certain black dog who loves to chew on shoes destroyed the ones I already had. They were a few years old but still in really good shape so to say I was quite annoyed by him doing that is a bit of an understatement πŸ™‚ For once I had just left them on the floor and Malkolm will never miss a chance like that to a new chew toy πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ well two since he managed to destroy both πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day andI’m pretty sure I’ll doze of in front of the tv even though they show my favourite science program today πŸ™‚

Have a great day!
