They say it’ll rain tomorrow.

Lungwort.

Another really nice and sunny spring day here. Started a bit cloudy but warm so I didn’t feel I had the right to complain πŸ™‚ No cranes in the field though but I could hear some trumpeting in fields further away.

We walked down to the creek but in the opposite direction to what we normally do. It would have been nice to walk to the older forest but the ground is so wet around there that rubber boots are a necessity at the moment. The sun started to shine while we were out warming up the air quite a lot so after a short while it felt too much to wear an anorak πŸ™‚

I continued to weed in the garden, today only nice weeds but yesterday I started to rip up stinging nettle roots. I could see the first shoots for the spring and decided I would at least slow them down this year. The shoots are edible after heating them up and can be used as a sort of spinach. People who do that always lies about those new shoots and say that they doesn’t burn, lies lies lies πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So yesterday my hands burned and today they itch something bad πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Besides that very little has happened here. Can’t say I remember what I’ve been doing but at the moment it does feel like I could have taken a long nap and still hadn’t rushed to do what I have done today πŸ™‚ Tomorrow we’ll have a much cooler day and they’re saying we’ll have some rain as well, we barely got anything last time they said that. It’s not like we really need it but nature will love it anyway πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and after that I have no idea πŸ™‚

The cranes had arrived outside the cottage when we were back home again, they didn’t like to see me so they flew away πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Hold Your thumbs and cross Your fingers!

These photos are a bit old now but it was nicer weather when I took them than it was this morning πŸ™‚

Β

We had odd weather yesterday, we were supposed to have rain and we did get some misty rain but that was it. Instead the air felt sort of thick (no mist or fog) so it did drop a lot from the roofs anyway, really odd πŸ™‚ It stayed that way until noon today when the sun broke through the clouds and dried up the air.

I was preparing for going to my job coach when a number called that I didn’t recognise at all. Normally I just check the number and if it is from specific telephone companies I just block them because it is always someone trying to sell me things. Today however I answered and a good thing that was πŸ™‚ Next Tuesday I’ll go to a place where I’ve applied for a job and have a tour of the factory πŸ™‚ I have no idea if I am one of several people doing this or if it means I got the job but just to be able to actually go to a work place feels good.

This place makes coffins and back in the days FalkΓΆping had six such makers, today I think this is the only one left. I just took a little look on Google and it seems it’s the only one in the entire country, can be wrong but it looks that way. So I need You all to hold Your thumbs and cross Your fingers next Tuesday πŸ™‚ Very little has happened here otherwise, Cranes fly above our heads all day long and they are so many down by the lake that the sound from them is like a wall of sound πŸ™‚ Even though it is hard to tell that sound comes from Cranes I still like to hear it in the morning πŸ™‚

It is time for a cup of tea and then go outside for a while before the sun sets and it gets a bit chilly again. Yesterday I placed a couple apricot tree, a peach tree and Β four quince trees from the cellar out in the patio. I would have brought out more if it wasn’t for the monster kitten and Malkolm rushing through there when they chase each other πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ll see if I can moves things around to get some extra space for a couple of more trees πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Β

Spring is sprung.

Still rather cold nights but after follows sunny and spring warm days. It was supposed to be windy all day but it seems the wind lost its breath after noon, so both me and my neighbours have been outside in the garden today and when my neighbours are outside none of the dogs can hear my voice or understand what I’m saying πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Not even the monsterkitten was interesting enough for Malkolm to keep an eye on πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Then again she mostly lays on the kitchen stairs sleeping in the sunshine πŸ™‚

It was just above 0C (32F) when we went out for our morning walk and there was still frost on the trees and snow on the ground where the sun can’t reach it. Cranes flew above us and the small birds in the forest sang their spring songs. We saw a deer out on the bog but it was too far away for Alma to start screaming πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I didn’t mind πŸ™‚ she screamed enough when we passed the new neighbours πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’ve been busy in the garden for three days now and I must admit that I have some training sourness all over my body πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ve done the first more serious weeding both in the vegetablegarden and the bigger one that used to be for vegetables as well but I last year decided should be a sort of flower meadow. Well I failed badly last year but can see signs that it might be better this year. If I had wanted it to be filled with only our wild flowers it would take lots of year to be successful, so instead I’ll have any kind of annuals bees like and also a few perennials. Plus I have lots of garlic growing in there as well πŸ™‚ Perhaps mice, voles and deer will stay away from it if I have πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So I’ve now filled my composts till maximum and I still have more to remove, well that’s a problem for later. I have lots of vegetable seeds but perhaps I need a few more flower seeds, annuals.Β  Still lots of time for that since nights will continue to stay below 0C (32F) for quite some time more and one never knows what April will be like, could be anything from summer warm to snow storms. So my body is aching but in a sort of good way πŸ™‚ I slept unusually well these two last nights though πŸ™‚

Last years model, new one is approaching soon.

Since something bit off big parts of my Pawpaw seedlings last autumn I bought five more seeds this winter and they arrived three days ago. These seeds are really tricky and even though I managed to get five small trees last year means nothing, I’ve read that not even in nature are the success rate higher than 25%. So all I can do is to hold my thumbs and cross my fingers because they might just as well rot instead. If any start to grow I have no idea how to make them survive next winter since what ever it was that bit them off did it in my cellar. To be honest it could just as well has been a certain monsterkitten that did that job πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ She will not be permitted to be in the cellar next winter πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I know I’ll have to weed it soon again but the big job is at least done. I’ll have potatoes, some kind of cabbage, beans and most likely some peas in there as well.

The coming meadow, I hope I’ll get a better result this year. Why the fence You might ask? Dogs I’ll answer πŸ™‚

The garlic seems to like it, these are just a few of them.

This is a perennial Hollyhock and I do hope more will show as spring is going forward.

It is time for that last cup of tea and perhaps I’ll have one of the newly baked french rolls just waiting in the kitchen πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

A day outside for the monsterkitten.

We’re having a really nice day here, a bit frosty in the morning but temperatures rose when the sun did. So today we’ve had 11C (51,8F) πŸ™‚ There is a wind blowing but it isn’t that cold and like most days it can’t reach my garden.

We walked down to the creek and I must say that Alma is getting better and better walking well. Malkolm is just the opposite but that could be that I only notice it now when Alma has started to calm down πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We could hear lots of cranes but couldn’t see any, the big migration north has just started and soon I’ll be able to see them flying over us as soon as we’re outside. The doves have arrived too, I do like their sound in the morning when we go outside.

I took a look at my small vegetable garden yesterday and since the weather is so nice I decided I would start removing all the weeds today. This early in spring I can only see the biennals and the perennial weeds and thankfully they grow big enough in autumn that they are easy to see now. It was mostly Aarons’ rod, a few dandelions and also small stinging nettles. The Aarons’rods grow so big that they need to be removed and I did remove most of the dandelions as well, left a couple since I like the leafs in a salad.

Also stinging nettles are nutritious but to be honest, they spread like wild fires and no matter what people say they do sting badly already as tiny plants. Wild raspberries is a bit of a problem here, they too spread fast but then again those berries are probably the tastiest one can find but not in my vegetable patch πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I also found some carrots from last year so the dogs and I shared them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ All these weeds filled up that small compost I bought last summer, the black one that one can and must spin around to make it work properly.

Where the Pawpaws grow. Doesn’t look much but they have survived the winter, all green beneath the bark πŸ™‚

It was so so full now that I barely could spin it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It works amazingly good, it’s just made of some kind of plastic that also insulated really well. They say it works down to -11C (12,2F) and I believe them. It’s counted as a warm compost and during summer it gets really warm and I put my hands in it now when it was cold and I could still feel warmth in there. I’ll continue tomorrow with more weeding and thankfully I do have a big compost made from the same material that still has some space it it πŸ™‚

She didn’t look too happy when she looked out the door πŸ™‚

Malkolm never far behind.

The monsterkitten was allowed to walk out from the kitchen door by herself today. Can’t say she was especially enthusiastic in the beginning, lots of going in and out at the beginning πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ She did get more brave after a while but as soon as the dogs thought she had wandered a bit too far (4 meters as most wich is much the same in yards) they started to make sure she walked back to the door πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We’ll have much the same temperatures the coming five days so she’ll have plsnty more times to explore the garden πŸ™‚

Alma was also keeping an eye on her. An exciting day for the monster kitten and she’s been sleeping all afternoon πŸ™‚

Time for dinner I think, have no clue what I’ll make but after that I’ll make a pot of tea πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Another wonderful spring day.

So any photo with sunshine is from yesterday.

Two days with temperatures above 10C (50F). Yesterday sunshine all day and today we weren’t supposed to have sunshine so it started to shine after we had come back from our morning walk and lasted almost until the sun was about to set. It has been so nice to being outside but colder weather is on the way. Tomorrow will be the last day with spring temperatures and after that it’ll cool down a lot.

However one isn’t getting any wiser by looking at the weather sites Β because they show so different temperatures that it’s impossible to even guess πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I’ll do my best to enjoy tomorrow and the sunshine we’ll get.

Most of the cold is gone now but I still have the coughing and I know it most likely will stay for quite some time. I’ve either coughed so hard or sneezed, because I do that as well, that a new little muscle most likely is ruptured but now on my right back side. I know it isn’t Alma this time because she has behaved exemplary these last days. The only thing she still does that annoys me is the whining but actually less than normal. We have of course only walked where the risk of meeting anyone is minimal but I’m still impressed!

I drove to the grocery store yesterday and checked if I could see any Crane but no such luck, lots of different geese and what we call song swans (relatives to Trumpet swans). I think however that I heard a crane this morning but the sound was hard to hear because it was from a long distance. Still they will start arriving any day soon now πŸ™‚

The first one I found today. The sun broke through and the croci opened up πŸ™‚

Yesterday I also allowed Sara to be outside with us. The door was open because I was going in and out of it for a while and then she nonchalantly tried to walk outside not knowing I had my eyes on her the entire time πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I carried her around in the garden and then let her walk on the biggest branch of my biggest apple tree. I think she liked it but she wasn’t even close to want to go outside today, lots to so through for her I guess πŸ™‚

It is time for that last cup of tea and then watch some tv I think πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

A belated birthday present :-)

I wouldn’t say that a storm passed by today but the wind was hard and it roared when it blew through the forest. My garden was totally wind free because my neighbors cottage took it all and it was surprisingly calm in the forest where we walked, the tree tops swayed but very little reached us on the ground. Warm winds though so it has been rather nice to be outdoors and now there’s only a few walnuts left hanging in the walnut tree.

The last of the bright colors are blowing away, I wonder how much that will be left tomorrow.

Β  Β

Even though it is much warmer than usual this month winter is still closing in on us unless we get really lucky and it stays autumn until spring. I know it isn’t a good thing but I admit that I won’t feel sorry if that happens πŸ™‚ Anyway, here in Sweden we have a law that says we must have winter tires if it becomes winter. My cars tires weren’t good so on Wednesday I’ll get new ones and even though I like that we have that law I still don’t want to pay for it, it will cost something around $ 700 US. Ok I drive gentle so the tires will last for long but it still hurts πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

Yesterday friends I haven’t seen in well over 24 years came for a visit πŸ™‚ It was so fun to meet them again πŸ™‚ We do keep an eye on us via Facebook but it isn’t the same to be honest. They gave me a present since I now am 60 years old and it was one in a series ofΒ  children’s book πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I love that series of books! It’sΒ  about these characters called Pettson and Findus (another English name for them is Festus and Mercury), an old farmer and his cat Findus. I’ll give You a link to the Wikipedia site: Pettson and Findus . They think that I reminded so much of Pettson πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ and I really wish I was as handy as he is πŸ™‚ I think this might have been the best birthday present ever πŸ™‚

Β  Β

The weather will calm down during the day tomorrow but get worse again later in the evening and night so I think I better go to the store tomorrow since I’ll get the new tires on Wednesday. It sounds as if I’m stressed and can’t find the time but that’s far from the truth πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It’s good to have something to do each day. It is at least easier to remember what day it is πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

The dogs are sleeping here on the upper floor and I think the cat sleep in my recliner downstairs. She might be up here as well but she moves so quiet so I never really knows where she is πŸ™‚ The only time I know where she is is when I bring out food, it is amazing what that cat likes to eat, like pickled cucumbers πŸ™‚ not even the dogs like that and if she gets a tiny piece of cheese she bites me till she gets it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Well I guess I have a cat now :-)

I had my day planned, I would go to my old work place to get a employer certificate so I can show that I’ve worked there for as long as I have and had no complains and so on. Lots of other things planned to do as well but that didn’t happen, wasn’t even close πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β  We had morning mist even though we were quite late going on our walk, it was quite a lot more chilly that it felt when I let the dogs outside after we had woken up. I was quite pleased with that because we were heading for the forest and the eventual moose flies. Nova was a bit slow today so I chose to just have a shorter walk.

We found her far down in to the fog.

Β  Β  Β

When we came back out of the forest I could hear something screaming quite loud. Took some time before I realized it was a cat, so we walked down quite far on the road where Malkolm always is allowed to walk of-leash.Β  I thought that it perhaps was a cat that had gotten stuck in the mud and needed help or perhaps been run over by the four wheeler the ones working with the cattle use, they tend to drive really fast. We had been walking quite far down the path when I finally saw it, it was a kitten.

Β  Β  Β

I must say that I was quite disappointed by the way Alma and Malkolm behaved (Nova behaved like the lady she is, she took a sniff at it and walked away πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ). I was just going to pick the kitten up when Alma tossed it up in the air as if it was a toy. I scolded her really badly but fell and then Malkolm did the same. I can happily say that it is very different now, they adore her πŸ™‚ Anyway, Her eyes were filled with puss and she couldn’t open them. So I brought her home, cleaned her eyes and called the vet. So now she’s registered to me and chipped. Turns out she has cat flu, pneumonia and some other smaller infections, all treatable. The problem of living alone and having pets is that when You’ve been at the vet You usually need to go to the pharmacy as well. I can’t eave the kitten in the car and I can’t bring her to the pharmacy, so I had to drive home to leave her in the cottage, hoping that the dogs will accept the bribes since I need to go back again to almost the exact place again to get the medicines πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

I left her in the bathroom with water and beside the litter box but also had to buy her some food. I had a big bag with cat litter standing in the bathroom, only three or four years since I had a cat her last time πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I was about to lift it up and then the bottom opened up πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The dogs changed their minds as soon as re introduced them and have been more or less obsessed with her πŸ™‚ I’ve blocked the bathroom door so that she can go in and out as she pleases but to narrow for the dogs to follow. The vet had to have a name for her and I really hadn’t had any time to figure out any, so we named her Sara πŸ™‚ She will most likely be called The Cat in the future πŸ™‚

Β  Β

She didn’t get her shots today just because she’s too sick but will get them next week. Her eyes have almost turned to green so we figured out that she’s around 7 weeks old and weighs 390 grams (less than a pound). She is a bit tired of me right now because I have given her her medicines, both antibiotics and eye drops. She is now oddly colored around the eyes because the drops are bright yellow πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’m pretty sure she’ll be ok soon, she has a temperament that show she’s not going to give up πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

She will look a bit miserable for some time but she has a lot of energy and have walked around in the cottage a lot, followed by Malkolm and Alma πŸ™‚

Always a dog there to clean her up πŸ™‚ Β

Have a great day!

Must be the warmest September in ages and I like it :-)

Almost frost again this morning, lots of morning mist, no wind and a rising sun. Mornings really can’t be much better. The mornings this week have felt like early summer, despite the yellow and red leafs. Lots of different bees on what still is in bloom as well. Very few wasps though, to be honest I haven’t seen especially many of them this summer, loads of different kind of bees but very few wasps.

Β  Β  Β

I’ve tried to have naps many times today but every time someone or something has interrupted it. I’ll have to take a few more tomorrow instead πŸ™‚ Alma is slightly better in her stomach so I hope we all can have a long nights sleep tonight. The problem is that she doesn’t wake me up, she just walks to the stairs and down to the door, I’ve been sleeping very light lately because of that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I realized that I wouldn’t have enough fish for her so I had planned to go to the supermarket tomorrow but thankfully my neighbor called, she was on her way to go home after work and asked if I needed something πŸ™‚ so no supermarket tomorrow πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

besides that I have to say that today has been a really nice day and if it hadn’t been for Malkolm constantly jumping over the fence and continue to the little lake behind the dog yard so that I have had to have the kitchen door closed most parts of the day. He isn’t that old yet and soon the moose hunt starts and that’s not a time to be running around in the forest. So if he’s out in the garden I must be there too. A fun thing is that if he’s gone I just tell Alma to fetch him and she does πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It takes a while but he does follow her home.

Β  Β  Β

It’s time to brush my teeth and then go to bed, I do hope all stomachs are calm, otherwise I’ll be even more tired tomorrow πŸ™‚ Very little sunshine tomorrow they’re guessing but still temperatures above 20C (68F). This must be one of the warmest Septembers in ages and I’ve enjoyed every warm day we’ve had πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

Have a great day!

Β  Β  Β

It feels like it is going the right way.

Yesterday evening.

Sorry about not writing yesterday, I was so tired that I didn’t have any energy over. To be honest I did feel better but once again the night had been disturbed by Alma’s stomach. She’s now on a fish and rice diet and I think I might have to start Malkolm on that too unless he’s better by tomorrow. They are full of energy though and soon there will be no apples on the ground for them to eat πŸ™‚

Β

This morning.

I did go to the grocery store yesterday morning and found everything I wanted. I even went and bought myself a couple of trousers. I can’t remember when I bought trousers the last time πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It’s so much easier to just wear the working trousers when coming home from work and walk out into the forest. I realized however that I really need to have at least one decent pair of trousers if I’m going job hunting πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

The thing is that sizes on work trousers aren’t remotely similar to what one find i the stores. I did remember the length size and thinking back I really isn’t even close to how fit I was back then πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I took a wild guess and hit it at first guess πŸ™‚ So I grabbed a second pair and was done in fifteen minutes πŸ™‚ I don’t think I was that quick even when I knew my size πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

The cold is going the right way, I still have some fever but most of the coughing is gone. It was the right week to get this cold because we’ve had early summer weather here. Cold nights, close to or frost but slightly above 20C (68F). Only a weak wind and yesterday evening started with fog and it stayed all night so we had morning mist until we went out on our morning walk. Today it was cold enough to keep the moose flies calm but I did wear an almost white hoodie, they don’t seem to like them, with the hoodie up. One really don’t want them to crawl around on the head getting stuck in the hair πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β Β Β

Have a great day!

My neighbor is mowing their lawn, I haven’t mowed in weeks πŸ™‚ I’ll do it when this tiresome cold has went away. Ill have to wait until the afternoon because we have so much dew here now that the grass is soaking wet in the mornings but just very wet in the afternoon.

Β  Β  Β

It was sunny during our morning walk again and I just took a little to long time to go out so a few moose flies were already flying around, only in the sunshine though, it was still below 4C (39,2F) in the shadow. These flies are sort of rubbery so one can’t smash them to death, one needs to sort of roll them between the fingers. They won’t burst open but the wings will fall off (something they do themselves when they have landed on a victim) and they won’t be able to reach any other animal. So now I have at least made sure fewer of them will fly next year.

Β  Β  Β

Alma has a really bad stomach, because she eats too many apples and other berries. She woke me up last night and was in a hurry. I did try my best to get downstairs but was a couple of seconds late. I am however very happy that I managed to go down as fast as I could anyway because she ran straight in to the Jerusalem artichokes (these are never eaten but seen as any other flowers in a flower bed) and then I heard sort of three explosions πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So now the rather difficult job has come to convince her to stop eating all berries and apples still around πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

Otherwise we’ve mostly slept today, I in the recliner and all three dogs in the sofa. I had my feet towards Alma’s head so there was no risk my feet would feel cold πŸ™‚ The kitchen door has been open quite a lot too, not much sunshine but almost 20C (68F) anyway, the weather will continue being warm they’re guessing so lets hope they’ve guessed it right πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

Have a great day!

Β  Β  Β

A really nice day despite only a little sunshine and a GF bread recipe.

I filled the bird feeder for the first time two days ago. Not a single bird came until early this morning πŸ™‚

Β

We’ve had a really nice day today, not as sunny perhaps but warmer, also no frost even though it was close. I was freezing when I woke up so I must have had a fever so I waited a bit longer before we went out on our morning walk so that it was a bi warmer even where the sun didn’t reach but cold enough for the moose flies to stay calm.

Β  Β  Β

To be honest so far I haven’t seen that many moose flies here so perhaps last winter and rainy summer killed off a lot of then? We walked out to the bog, out on the peninsula, a favorite place for me and the dogs. I enjoy the views and the dogs all the smalls from the Fallow deer and Red deer and the badgers of course. Malkolm probably wondering what they look like and Alma wanting to pick up a fight with them, I really don’t understand why she wants that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Nova once met a badger. The badger jumped up on the road and ran towards her and old Sune , who was half Bernese moutaindog and half English working cockerspaniel, very much like Malkolm in his behavior.

Β  Β  Β

Both dogs just stood there (always unleashed) and the badger came running to them. They stood there and sniffed at each other, looking really happy to meet each other, then they all turned away and went on their own directions. Five minutes later we met the Mrs, she wasn’t happy at all and both showed and sounded so we wouldn’t do it again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β  Β

I haven’t done anything I was planning today, mostly I’ve just rested a lot but it felt like a nap only would mean lots of coughing. I have however baked gluten free french rolls. I never fully follow recipes but today I was close πŸ™‚ and they turned out really good! I’ll write the recipe at the end and the changes I made at the end and it’ll be in centigrades and grams so You’ll need to change to Your measurements yourself, my brain is just too foggy right now πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

I will stay calm until this cold is over, calling companies asking for jobs but having a cold isn’t especially smart if they want You to come over to have a talk, it’s never a good idea to make an eventual employer sick when looking for a job πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ But I might have to go to the store and buy food.

A bumblebee had spent the night in the Canadian goldenrod, it was just waking up when we came home from our walk πŸ™‚
I’ve never seen flower buds growing together like this! It’s like they are conjoined twins.
Lots of male starlings up in my neighbors birches.
I looked at these for a very long time wondering what it was πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Then I remembered that I sowed cob millet for the birds but they started to grow so late that I had forgotten about them. I hope the birds will have some use of them despite them being so late.

Anyway, the recipe.

Ingredients:

100 grams of potato flourΒ  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β

300 grams of brown rice flourΒ  Β  Β  Β  Β Well I used 200 grams of white rice flour because I didn’t have any brown rice anything and one bag with 200 grams of white rice flour already open and didn’t want to open a new one πŸ™‚ Instead I added 100 grams of Oat flour.

Β

20 grams of powdered psyllium husk.

Β

1.5 teaspoon of salt

Β

1 tablespoon of honey.Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Why destroy honey that way, I used brown sugar instead and probably 2 table spoons because the sugar is food for the yeast.

Β

1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Β

2 teaspoons of dry yeast or 20 grams of fresh yeast.

Β

500 grams of lukewarm water.

Β

Instructions:

Add all the dry ingredients in a bowl, including yest, salt and sugar. Well I’ve done that once and I really failed with that bread. I added all the dry things together with some strong tasting cheese (the recipe says olive oil but I can’t stand olive anything really), don’t take too much, it will feel like eating a well tasting rubber ball if You do that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

I warm the water and then add the yeast, sugar and salt and let it stand for a while, perhaps a minute before I put it all together.

Then the recipe says whisk it all together quickly. Well I say use a baking machine if You have one or like I do an old time electric whisk and work the dough for five minutes. If You have all the strength in the world and muscles thick as a telephone pole just do it by hand πŸ™‚

The recipe then says let it rest beneath a handkerchief for 75 minutes before You take it all out and form the rolls but be careful so You don’t press out the air. That’s quite stupid to be honest. This dough is rather firm, so form the rolls already after it has been worked on, put them on a baking sheet and then let it rest for 75 minutes.

Β

The instructions then says heat up the oven to 275C and as soon as You’ve put the rolls in the oven turn it down to 200C. No don’t do that, put it o 200 from the beginning (well all ovens can be different so You’ll have to test that Your self I’m afraid), otherwise You might end up with burned surfaces and soggy middles.Β

Β

Let them stay in the oven for 40 minutes, no that will be a bit long according to my tries. Today I had them in for 25 minutes with the oven working and then I turned off the oven and had the rolls in there for another ten minutes. Crispy surface and just enough baked through the entire rolls πŸ™‚

Good luck if You try them πŸ™‚

First frost but a beautiful day.

The weather has been really wonderful today! Sunshine from the start and a bit chilly, we had the first frost last night. -2C (28,4F). I’m so glad that I decided to start two radiators last evening because if I hadn’t I would have been frostbitten as well πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Most of the vegetation in the garden weren’t damaged though. I have so many bushes and trees that it creates pockets of warmer air and that’s where I have the least hardy plants. So my Dahlias and tomato plants look as healthy as they did yesterday. They’re guessing that it will be warmer at nights again but I’ve brought a few more plants indoors just in case.

We walked down to the creek as soon as the sun rose and mornings like this one doesn’t have to worry about moose flies, even they tend to be calm when it is that cold. One night of frost won’t kill them though, they are nasty tough little critters. Nova walked without a leash and normally that goes fine but then there are those days when she suddenly doesn’t give a s..t about where we are supposed to walk and she decides on walking elsewhere πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β  So today she went ahead before we were close to her and walked a road we haven’t in years, mostly because we have to pass a rather loud barking dog that seems to be outside 24/7 πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ and since both old Albin and Alma tended to scream when they met other dogs I did my best to avoid that place.

We didn’t reach Nova until half way there and then it just felt that we could go through a screaming/ barking match at least one time πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Turned out that the dog for once was indoors. I could smell that they had started a fire so I guess both the humans and the dog were inside having breakfast.

The rest of the day has been really calm, the kitchen door has mostly been open and Malkolm and Alma has been over at my neighbors playing with their kids. Malkolm had decided that he wanted to see more of the world by jumping over their fence as well but one stern call to come back from my neighbor made him realize that she has the power even if he doesn’t think so πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ve napped a lot as well because coughing is not a good friend at nights.

Can You see the little black dot close to the tree line? That’s Nova πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I had seen Nova just on the other side of this little slope, so I could finally catch her and put the leash on πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

There were lots of telephone calls and text messages to answer because today I turned to 60. I’m not a big birthday celebrator so I’m not disturbed by the cold even if it had been nice to not have it πŸ™‚

It is time to make another cup of tea and most likely fall asleep in my recliner in front of the tv πŸ™‚
