Yay! The mosquito season has started :-)

I really didn’t need to paint anything today but the weather was so nice and we had summer temperatures so I did it anyway πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It was so warm in the factory but so nice where I paint so that half of the day I was there was so nice and time just ran away. It didn’t when I had to go back to the heat again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The clouds arrived before I drove homewards though and now it rains but just a nice spring rain. It can change pretty fast though if the showers that can give us up to an inch of rain comes this way. We do need the rain though so I won’t complain if those showers comes here. That would also fill up my water barrels so that’s another reason not to complain.

I need to buy more fence. I put up fences around the places where I’ll have the potato patch and the vegetable patch and even though I do feel those spaces were smaller than I expected I still spent an entire roll of fence πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I haven’t started to remove the grass yet, I’ll do that tomorrow unless it rains then too. I’ll place the removed lawn on top of stinging nettles, it won’t kill them but it will at least slow them down a little.

The frost we had the other night killed almost all the small peaches on my new tree, they have turned brownish. I hope that at least the two that still just were withered flowers might grow in to peaches though. It also killed all my corn plants, that annoyes me a bit more actually. I do however have more seeds to sow so I’ll do that this weekend and I’ll cover the ground so that any small seedlings that show won’t freeze if we’ll get frost again.

Yay, the mosquito season has started πŸ™‚ We were walking in the forest when they suddenly attacked us. I have a few bites on my back but the most annoying one is on the side of one of my fingers. I don’t even know how it managed to go there since I held two leashes with that hand. Just a few minutes ago a woman with a stroller and a small dog passed my cottage and went up to my neighbors. The poor woman must have been scared to death when Albin and Alma suddenly started huffing and puffing and barking just as she walked beside my fence πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

From what I’ve been able to see we’ve had a rather wonderful day. It started with frost though and I was a bit worried that the tiny peaches would freeze and fall off but they were still hanging on this afternoon.

I did start to paint some things this morning but when the first things were painted it turned out that I didn’t have any place to put them while continue painting other things. We have so much to do now in the factory that all places where one can place materials are occupied. So I had to stop and do other things in the factory instead. Time flew while I was painting but it sure didn’t fly when I had to do other things instead. It is amazing how boring jobs can make time stand still.

I was planning on fence in the area where I’ll have my potato patch and also the place where I’ll have the vegetable patch today. The fence is a self standing one covered in a thin layer of plastic so it will be quite easy to put it up. On my way home however I remembered that I don’t have any cutting pliers hare at home so tomorrow I’ll borrow one from work instead. We’ll get some rain tomorrow night and quite a lot on Saturday if they’re guessing right so it would be a good thing if I could have prepared those two areas before it starts on Saturday. The potatoes would love it.

Ok she still behaves insane but in a calmer way πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ She even stopped screaming to a couple of cars passing by after just a few seconds πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Albin continued a bit longer and the beekeeper thought he sounded like a Tasmanian Devil πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ To be honest he does sound much like it πŸ™‚Β  πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We’ve had a rather lovely day, sunshine almost all the time, some occasional clouds have passed by but I didn’t mind. The wind is weaker than before and today it was just cool enough when I mowed the lawn. Not that much of the wind reach the garden but the little that did was really nice.

We walked down to the creek this morning and then followed it up-streams and walked through the forest on our way back home again. I think we scared away some wild hogs but I could still feel the smell of them when we passed that place. It’s a good thing they rather run away than stay to see what’s walking up the road πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’ve also done the laundry and mowed the lawn so I feel that I’ve done more than enough for the day πŸ™‚ When one plant a tree like I did the other day one must water at least ten liters of water every day for around ten days, even if it rains so that’s the only other thing I’ve done today. I was thinking for a while that I should bake a sponge cake or something like that but I didn’t have any baking powder and I didn’t have the energy to do anything else so instead I’ve longed for something sweet all day long πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I watched the eurovision last night but I went to bed before the voting started. It was around 11:30pm by the time they had stopped singing and I have no idea for how long that program continued. Ukraine won as expected, United Kingdom came second, Spain third and our song fourth, not bad at all. The Italian song ended further down and I have to say that if one insists on singing big parts in falsetto like the Italian guys did one really should be able to do that without getting out of tune, it just sounds horrible πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Well I didn’t win the lottery this weekend either so I’ll go to work as usual tomorrow morning. The coming week will be rather warm, some days well over 20C (68F) but they are also guessing that there will be more clouds hanging around. I’m so glad I don’t work in the powder painting department any longer, it’ll be nasty hot in there already on Tuesday. I’ve planted the peach tree today and when I watered it I suddenly saw that there are tine peaches on it πŸ™‚ Seven for sure but it looks like two more withered flowers might give two more. I do hope the tree hasn’t been too stressed by being shipped in a box so that these peaches grow to become big and I’ll be able to eat them. I saw cats, hares and foxes on our morning walk today but thankfully none of the dogs did πŸ™‚ So Alma was actually behaving rather well almost all the walk. Too much to see when walking by the fields so she was a bit hyper there but as soon as we entered the forest she calmed down again. She didn’t even scream when we met and left the Beekeepers. I fell asleep in front of the tv and woke up to the American Song Contest. I had already heard who won it all but I didn’t know the end result. Turns out that my three favorites ended up amongst the four first. I did not like the one who came second though but three out of four isn’t bad. Our big final is tonight. Ukraine is going to win, not only because the group got special permission to go by the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy (they are after all in war) but the song is not that bad. So the fight is really about second place and our song is one of three (the other two are United Kingdom and Italy) that will fight about it.

Tomorrow will be lawn mowing day, I noticed that my neighbor mowed outside my garage, we have our trash bins there so he tends to mow that part for me πŸ™‚ I’ll also do the laundry as usual but esides that I’ll do very little. The fence I’ve bought isΒ  self standing so to make it easy I might make my two vegetable patches round. The fence is rolled tightly so trying to make the corners in90 degrees will be a bit hard. I’m also thinking of planting my mini kiwi vines towards one of those fenced in vegetable patches so they will keep that fence at place when they start growing.

If I in the future doesn’t want a vegetable patch there I can use that space as a what we call bersΓ₯ (from the french word berceau and is pronounced much the same way). A bersΓ₯ is a place where one can sit and have coffee with friends and normally there’s a horse shoe shaped hedge around it. Typically here they use lilacs as the hedge. No roof above it though. Mostly the hedge is high so no one can look in and to keep the wind away but I’ve seen those with lower hedges too. So my “hedge” would be a fence covered in mini kiwi vines, not bad at all to be honest πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

I went out and took a look at the label :-)

DSC_0014 (3)

So just before I was going to bed yesterday evening I suddenly started to think about the label on my new apricot tree. I thought it looked a bit odd but also thought it must be a standardized thing they put on and then the text would say what it was. Well I went out to look at it a second time.

Turns out it wasn’t a standardized label, I haven’t gotten an apricot tree πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Instead I got one of those flat peaches πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So the last thing i did before going to bed was to email the company. It costs the same and has the same hardiness so I wondered if they wanted me to send it back to them or if I could take this tree instead since I really didn’t want to find a new box, since I had cut it down πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The sort of fun thing about this is that they don’t even sell that peach yet so someone must have made a big mistake.

They answered that I could keep it if I wanted so now I have a peach tree instead πŸ™‚ I do like them a lot those flat peaches but peach trees have huge problems with a fungus that kills them after a few years so I wasn’t sure at first but then I found out that they now have a good pesticide that kills the fungus (it contains sulfur which kills off the fungus and one need so small ammounts that it isn’t dangerous for anything else). One need to spray the tree with it after the leafs have fallen in autumn and one more time before the new leafs grow out. After doing that the problems will go away. I do like apricots though so I might order one anyway but most likely from another business πŸ™‚

I don’t know if You have the Swish app, an app that one can use for sending smaller ammounts of money to other peoples accounts? One connects ones phone number to the bank account so it’s really easy to use if someone wants to lend money or to pay in stores as well. There are of course lots of frauds done that way too and today I got a text message from someone I don’t know who claimed that he had, by accident, swished me some money.

Stinging nettles thrives when one have several dogs peeing and pooping in the garden and they also spread very easily both by seeds and roots. We’ve had a rather wonderful day today. Sunny with the occasional cloud until the afternoon when more clouds arrived but it is still pretty nice and warm outside. We went out on our morning walk a bit later than normal, I did wake up by myself but that didn’t mean I wasn’t really tired all morning πŸ™‚ They have started to show the great moose migration now so I watched that for a while (for those of You who don’t know what this is, it’s cameras stationed at the same place every year showing how moose migrate north when winter is over. We also see a lot of other animals of course and this is called slow tv), somethingΒ  they do every year and the fun thing is that I can hear the same kind of birds singing through the tv as I can if I open the door πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

After that I’ve sown some more seeds, annuals outdoors because they’ll germinate when they feel it is the right time and some berry plant seeds that still need to stay indoors until we know the risk of night frost is over. I also dug up a Wisteria. I thought it died three winters ago but it resurrected last summer and grew terrible fast and slid up beneath the tiles on the roof. I really can’t have that so today I cut it down. I managed to get two big pieces of roots with a climbing stalk on each and thought why not plant them where they’ll do no harm?

I planted one beside the crabapple tree with the big magpie nest. We call wisteria here for Blue Rain so I planted it beside the tree we call Gold Rain, The Laburnum. I could work all by myself without the dogs because my neighbors little daughter has her birthday today and lots of people would come. Since Albin and Alma really can’t behave, Albin would run up and down beside the fence huffing and puffing while Alma would start barking and then jump over the fence so she can bark a bit more before jumping back to star all over again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I said that I’ll bring in the dogs while people will be arriving, my neighbors thought it was unnecessary because they all love dogs but I said that today none of us on this side of the fence would be the center of attention after all πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It didn’t feel that cold this morning, 3:30 am (well perhaps late night is a better word for it πŸ™‚ )when I opened the door to let the dogs outside but it was actually -5C (23F). I could see that the sun was on it’s way up, not exactly on the way up but I could see where it would go up a bit later on. The birds were singing and there was no wind at all and I guess it was the absence of wind that made it feel so nice.Β  I hadn’t become warm enough for me to not scrape ice from the when I drove to work at 4:40 am but the ice was so soft that it didn’t take more than a couple of seconds to get rid of it.

Treats were no problem though and I think she even considered to eat Albins food, just as long as she didn’t have to eat the new one πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ll see if I can find another kind that her stomach tolerates and she will eat as well.

The Daffodils (we call them easter lilies) had started to flower in FalkΓΆping. Here at home I can see one bud so far.

After that it’s a fifteen (in a good day) minute walk uphill to the garage. I took this from the bus on my way home. A bit too dark because it’s almost impossible to see the Abbey ruin beside the church.

So every time I left the car I just placed my fleece jacket over the steering wheel so that no one could see the key sitting there. So I had the car until this afternoon when I finally could get my own car back. I must say that the little Renault was quite nice to drive but the seat was so hard that my back started to act up again. I’m glad that I finally understood how the fan and heating worked because we had frost again this morning. The rest of the day has been really nice though, lots of sunshine and warmer winds. I could have the door open to the painting box as well. Another good thing is that my work friend has come back from his paternity leave. Both because I’ve missed him but also because I finally don’t have to do his job πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ll still go through all the nozzles in the big washing machine every Friday morning because he can’t leave his little boy at the day care center so early in the morning. I like that part a lot because that means I’ll still have my going home early Fridays πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Stora Bjurums Castle.

Besides this nothing much else has happened. I haven’t worked much this week but I still feel that tomorrow can’t come fast enough πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ If everything goes as planned I’ll start removing grass on the spots I’m planing on having my vegetable patch and also my potato patch.

Back in the days there was a lively little village beside the castle, almost all of it is gone now.
DSC_0072
Here there was a yellow apartment building, it was still there when I moved here. There was also a shop(since long closed) and I think an old garage as well. All the old root cellars that all the villagers had are still there though on the other side of this road.

It isn’t that long ago people lived in these houses. Too bad the castle owners didn’t know that the pandemic would have risen the price on them so much that it would have been a really great idea to renovate them. The pandemic made people realize that living in the middle of nowhere actually would be a great idea since it is harder to get infected πŸ™‚

That cow kept her hostile eyes on me both on my way home and also back to the bus the day after. She had a newborn calf lying just out of sight here.

We had a really nice weather yesterday, sunshine, little wind and rather warm, especially in the sunshine. I couldn’t enjoy it especially much though. I did think it smelled a bit strange when I made some pancakes on Sunday and it might have been one of the eggs that had started to turn bad. I woke up at 4 am and hurried down to the bathroom because I thought I was about to throw up. I never did but the rest of the day wasn’t the funniest I’ve ever had πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I didn’t eat all day but I did drink a lot of rose-hip soup. That also made it possible for me to drive to the garage today because there were no risk what so ever that I would have to find a toilet during the time I was in FalkΓΆping πŸ™‚ I asked them if they knew if they would start with my car early or late in the day because if they would start late I better take the bus home and go there the first thing tomorrow morning, so we decided it was better for me to go home and come tomorrow morning.

I would most likely felt more sure they know what they do if those hand written signs weren’t there πŸ™‚ They dress furnitures and fill upp the old stuffing as well. Is it called stuffing? well You know what I mean πŸ™‚

I also passed a second hand shop.

The garage is at the top of a mountain called Γ…lleberg and the bus/ train station is at the bottom of it so it was an easy walk πŸ™‚ I was waiting for the bus in the cold wind and suddenly it arrived at a time it shouldn’t. Turns out it was the bus I thought I’ve missed that arrived rather late πŸ™‚ Good for me but not for the bus driver. I jumped off the bus at the lake and there are still some cranes there and after that I had the 45 minute long walk home. Most parts of the walk was wind free thankfully so it was actually quite nice even though I really wasn’t that full of energy after yesterday πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I like this old set. It costs around $ 55 US and I could easily repaint it at work.

I was supposed to call the garage just before 5pm to check if they were ready with my car but they beat me to it. Turns out that the car is leaking oil so some kind of seal has to be changed. I’ve looked on the net and it’s actually something very cheap??!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well I guess they’ll need to pour in new oil as well but the seal itself is very cheap πŸ™‚ So now we’ve decided that I’ll get my car after their lunch hour, at 1pm. I’ll drive to work after that, it takes around 45 minutes so I won’t be there for long before my working day is over πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’m so lucky to have that understanding employers! To be honest, living at the outskirts of the world as I do is tricky when the car needs to go to the garage, I actually would have to have two cars to make it work smoothly but with our prices on everything that would be more or less impossible. The last time I filled up my car with petrol it costed something aroundΒ  $10,78 US gallon. Personally I think there are lot of other things I rather use my money on πŸ™‚

Biting wind.

DSC_0001 (6)

The sun is shining, the sky is mostly blue and there’s an ice freezing wind there to destroy it all. At first it hit from south east so it was impossible to stay in the garden for more than a minute or two but now it has moved to blow from north so we can finally stay on the south side of the cottage without freezing.

We stayed mostly in the forest on our morning walk today but we had to pass a couple of fields and of course we then met eight roe deer. I managed to stop Alma from seeing them but that didn’t stop her from shouting like crazy πŸ™‚ It passed fairly quickly though and the rest of the walk she behaved reasonable well.Too bad I had to occupie her because I therefore couldn’t take any photos of the deer

I sowed twenty kernels of corn in a small container about a month ago and they have all grown together, so today was the day I needed to do something about it. They are quite big now and that helped. I filled a bucket with water and after that I just put the entire lump with corn plants and soil in it. It took around an hour but finally the soil was so wet that I could separate them from each other so now I’ll just plant each and everyone of them in separate pots. Have no idea where I’ll place them because even though the pots are small they will need a lot of space πŸ™‚

Also it looks like Alme believes this is grass for her to eat, she tried to chew one of them but I managed to stop her πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Perhaps I’ll place them in my cool cellar with the plant light. The cooler temperatures will slow down the growing but no dog will be able to chew them down πŸ™‚ My brother’s cherry plum tree is in full bloom now, he lives by the coast. So I took a look at mine and it turns out that a few of its flowers also are open now. I wish it would calm down because frost and flowers aren’t a great thing if one want fruit and we can after all have frost at nights until at least June sixth.

I better replant those corn plants and after that I think I’ll sow some cabbage and Broccolo. It looks like a green cauliflower but the taste is more like common broccoli. I’ve grown it before I moved from my old home town and I remember liking it a lot. Well I better get started or I’ll forget to do any of it πŸ™‚

Alma is in heat and is pretty annoying towards all of us πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So now I’ll have to keep an eye on her again every time she’s outdoors. She had stopped jumping over the fence all the time so I had finally relaxed from that but I really don’t want her to run over to the dogs on the other side of the village and I really don’t want her to have puppies πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I went to the physiotherapist today and I will continue with more exercises. She still hasn’t ruled out that Alma actually did tear something in my shoulder because it seems that the nerv(s) isn’t that pinched any longer but I still have the pain in my shoulder. I have also over compensated for the pain so now I’m a bit lopsided πŸ™‚ My left shoulder is placed way higher than my right and I also have a pain in my neck and behind the shoulder blade. These new exercises should help with that and I’ll continue with those I’ve already have done for two weeks. I’ll see her again in three weeks.

We went out to the bog today, Nova didn’t want that at all so she sort of dragged behind all the time we were out there, Albin and Alma behaved just the opposite. It turned the other way when we went homewards again, Albin and Alma dragged behind and Nova did what she could to hurry us up πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I have no idea why Nova didn’t want to walk out there because it was really pleasant and none of the other dogs seemed to smell anything that could be unpleasant for them, like pigs or moose or wolf because there are at least one roaming around in the county and we now have a pack in a neighboring county as well.

Besides that very little has happened here. I’ve had plenty of tea but still managed to doze off in front of the tv πŸ™‚ To be honest they don’t show much quality tv in the middle of the day so that could be the one of the reasons I managed to fall asleep so fast πŸ™‚
