Rather dull and boring weather here lately, mostly cloudy but today we could see the sun through the clouds for a while. After that it rained on and off but to be honest most of the rain has been falling at night. The entire garden is like one huge mud pool so it’s no fun being outside there either.

We walked down to the creek today and at one place we need to walk on a small metal bridge. It is actually called a bridge and I know that because it it actually a roof safety thing called a bridge so the people up on roofs can walk safely even though it might be cold and icy. I used to paint them at my old work place 🙂 We always pass over it in the same way, Malkolm first, then me and lastly Alma. Alma wants to go first but I’m not stupid, she would most likely make me fall off and in to the creek 🙂 Instead today she tried to pass me and fell in her self 🙂 🙂 🙂

Normally anyone that falls down into the creek comes up covered in rusty mud and smelling a lot of iron. But not Alma and I think it is because of the beavers. The water flow is so slow now that most of the mud stays further up-stream, so to my big surprise she came up clean and with only a faint smell of iron 🙂 🙂 It would not have been fun trying to bring her in to the shower to clean her up 🙂 🙂 🙂

I think that must have been the most exciting thing that has happened here lately 🙂 Well I saved a toad from the little pond today. They love to jump down in to any kind of water but Ince the sides are so steep in it they can’t get up again. I know some likes to over winter at the bottom of ponds but this one will freeze way down to the bottom and only a few different toads and frogs can manage to do that.

We’ve all had our dinner and now I have that last cup of tea by my side. The little cold I have had for a while now that refuses to break out is at the moment giving me a slight headache. Nothing bad, just enough for me to feel I have a head 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

So little has happened here today. I did drive to the supermarket and I baked a bread and that’s it 🙂 Not saying it was a bad day but really nothing to write about. So I’ll just post some photos from our morning walk and after that I’ll have that last cup of tea and a bowl with the ice cream I bought this morning 🙂

Have a great day!

We’ve had such a nice day, cool and semi sunny morning and the rest of the day sunny, warm and very windy. The few flies that did try to annoy us blew away and the morning was cool enough to keep the moose flies at a distance as well, they are really bad flyers so if it is cool or chilly in the morning they’ll stay where they are.

Next time I’ll bring something so I can collect some Angelica seeds, I want it in my garden 🙂

I am now ready for a five day long period with rain, I drove to the supermarket this morning so now I don’t have to do it when the weather gets more boring. I mowed the lawn as well. The rain we’ve had made the grass grow but not as much as I feared but enough to let me know that after five days with rain it’ll be so long and wet that it will only become a green mess in the mower. It didn’t take long after I started the mower until my neighbour did it as well 🙂 Later on I could hear two or more villagers starting theirs too. Better do it now even if it isn’t necessary than doing it later when it is too long and wet.

I’ve heard that there are fewer and fewer Red Toadstools in the world but here we can find them everywhere. My favourite mushroom because it’s so beautiful. Also we have small paper mache toadstools in our advent candlesticks and some even in their Christmas trees 🙂

I’ve found a small hard plastic pond I once had in the garden, before I dug the big one. There’s a thin crack in it so water flows out pretty quickly but I started to wonder if I can fix it with a bicycle tire repair set?  The reason I started to think about it is because this year I’ve seen unusually many frogs and toads in my garden so why not have a little pond again?I really would like to have a big one but building a big pond is anything but cheap. Then again the question comes to any gardener, where should I have it 🙂 🙂 🙂  One really wants to be able to see it when walking out into the garden, otherwise I actually have a few places since it is so small. Well I have winter to think about it 🙂 🙂 🙂

Besides that I’ve done very little today. I’ll soon have my last cup of tea for the day and I’ll see if there’s anything worth watching on tv but I doubt that. The sky is slowly being cowered with a grey clod cover, the sun shines through every now and again but they’re saying that when we wake up tomorrow the sky will be evenly grey and drops will start falling. I think tomorrow will be a perfect day for napping, long time since I did that so it’s about time 🙂

Have a great day!

We had a beautiful morning mist when I looked out the window when we got up this morning, so I hurried to get dressed so we could have our morning walk in it. By the time we came out it had turned to fog instead 🙂 🙂 🙂 Well that’s not so bad to be honest but I would have liked to have that sunshine for a while before it changed.

It was almost totally quiet, only my neighbours roosters could be heard. No other birds could be heard and for some reason fog does this to birds, they quiet down but I have no idea why. Then again fog quiets down everything, even the forest machines and tractors are harder to hear. Actually even Alma was more silent when we passed the new neighbours than she usually is 🙂

It has been warm with a high humidity today but almost no sunshine. I went to a grocery store in Falköping in the early morning and stopped by the grocery store in Gudhem to pick up my parcel. It’s the paper shredder I’ve bought and it is still standing where I placed it right after I came home, I haven’t unpacked it yet 🙂 Instead I did some laundry and now in the afternoon I baked a bread. It is a bit irritating to have to bake  so often because the loafs are small, so today I doubled it all and I’ve just tried a few lines and with blue cheese on it tastes amazing 🙂

So many small spiderwebs.

We’ll have two more days with rather pleasant weather but from Thursday and the coming seven days we’ll have lower temperatures and lots of rain. I don’t mind the rain but the temperatures could stay I think 🙂  So I guess I better start cutting down those rather high tree stumps that’s left of the grape elders, they are electric and with a cord, not too fun to use in rain and wet grass 🙂 🙂 🙂

My closest neighbours rooster. I think he’s really beautiful.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and perhaps I should make myself a blue cheese sandwich again 🙂

Have a great day!

Fog again this morning and actually a bit too good 🙂 🙂 because the camera quite often had problems finding anything to focus on. So instead I had to do it myself like in the olden times when autofocus just was a dream 🙂 🙂 🙂 Not a fly were out having fun despite that it actually was quite warm already at 7 am. Mixed between cold and sunny all day but since we reached 25 C (77 F) the laundry I did dried up really fast.

I haven’t done much today besides the laundry, I’ll do the last of the heavy clothes tomorrow. My bathroom is so small that I can’t have a normal washing machine in there so instead I have one made for mobile homes, works really well but can’t take heavy clothes or sheets at the same time as other clothes. So I save those heavier things and take them one by one and tomorrow I’ve catched up with those things, yay 🙂

Well I did water the vegetables and the more sensitive plants and made an apple cobbler which turned out rather nice. Lots of cars have passed the cottage today, tomorrow is the last day before my newest neighbours move out totally. Too bad I really liked them but I do understand why they do it since the owner suddenly raised the price of the property and with quite at lot to be honest. So now all we can do is to hope the next tenant is just as good as these were. I doubt very much that anyone will buy the place since he wants almost twice to what the property is worth.

Thunder is passing north of us and it doesn’t look like they’ll be coming this way. We might have som rain during the night but it doesn’t look promising. The problem is that when it finally starts it tends to stay for weeks at a time, which is just as annoying as when it doesn’t fall at all 🙂

It is so quiet in the village now. I can hear two dogs barking from opposite sides of the village and that’s it. No birds tweeting, no katydids or grass hoppers playing their violins. The monsterkitten is already indoors eating so not even she makes a sound. The occasional bumblebee flies by the window but it looks like even the flies have a break right now. It is time for that last cup of tea and after that I’ll try and find space for all the quince trees (Cydonia oblonga) in the garden. I’m pretty sure they’ll die here during winter if it comes close to what used to be a normal winter but then again I thought my Black walnut would too and it is already the highest tree in my garden 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

One can still see where the road once were when this was a forest.

Sunny and cool early in the morning while we have our morning walks and mixed for the rest of the day, kind of perfect really 🙂 A bit on the chilly side during the day, below 20C (68F) but warmer days will come they’re guessing 🙂

I got tired of walking the same way every morning today so I took a chance and walked out to the bog. The grass is high and ticks just loves grass, especially if it isn’t too wet. Yarrow is a very common flower here and I’ve heard  that ticks don’t like the smell of them so I picked some and rubbed them towards the dogs bodies. I didn’t find a single tick on them when we came home (plus I checked them after passing the first part of high grass as well). I can’t say it really works but no ticks when the environment is right for them sort of say it does work.

So the dogs were happy to finally get out there and so was I 🙂 We heard deer jumping away from us in the forest and a raven warned about us walking around there but besides that it was really quiet. For once we didn’t see nor hear any wild hogs and that’s always nice. Last summer this area was full go lingonberries but now there’s only a few so the drought reached them as well even though there’s water in the bog.

Yesterday when I was removing some stinging nettles I found some raspberry bushes, I thought the more invasive plants around them finally killed them but they’re still there. So they had some ripe berries that I’ve now placed in the freezer together with the other berries I’ve picked, those berries weren’t many enough to use by themselves so when I finally make jam of them it’ll be interesting to taste it 🙂 I also have lots of plums in the freezer from last autumn so I better clean up some jars and make jam from them.

I’m about to remove as best as I can my Japanese quince bush. I’ve had it for almost 15 years and it never gives any bigger fruits and suddenly last year it started to spread via its roots, so I felt it was time to do something about it. I’ve cut it down to the ground and started to remove as many smaller roots I can. I think it might be impossible to remove the bigger roots totally but it will at least be easier to keep it so small that It won’t spread anywhere else, easier than with the Blackthorn since the quince is planted in a flowerbed in a sea of grass around it.

To my rather big surprise the peach tree still lives and actually looks almost healthy 🙂
The darker green blob is the Japanese quince or was to be honest.
Now I’ve cut it down to the ground, getting those roots up will not be fun.
I sowed Dahlias from a package that says it contains many colours. It looks like all will have yellow flowers 🙂 I had wished for other colours since so many flowers in my garden is yellow.

It is time for that last cup of tea and perhaps a sandwich or two. I doubt there will be anything on tv that I haven’t watched since all they do now is showing re-runs 🙂

Have a great day!

Strong winds.

We had rain and rather cool temperatures this morning when we woke up but just before I was going home from work the sun broke through and now it’s warm and nice and thankfully still a strong wind that keeps most flies away in the forest. The few that tried to follow us didn’t have the chance to try and get inside our noses or ears. Sometime I do like strong winds 🙂 🙂

Surprisingly few ticks in the grass as well today even if it still was quite wet after thew rain. I only found one walking on Malkolm and none on Alma. Alma seems to slowly accept the new neighbours, the ones with the horses. She didn’t scream at all when we passed, just sort of very loudly whining when we passed and it didn’t feel like she was trying to rip of my shoulder either. Small steps but I’ll take any steps forward 🙂

If we aren’t walking on the paths and small roads in the forest the grass will grow really high. I’ve avoided to do that because of the ticks so the grass is now waist high in many places. No one else seems to be walking there and on one hand that’s nice because no one will sir up Alma to high level excitement 🙂 On the other hand they do miss some wonderful walks in there. All birds singing, sometimes a fox or some deer pass in front of us and the badgers of course, then again most people believe badgers are dangerous so perhaps it’s a good idea that they stay away 🙂 🙂 🙂

It’s time for that last cup of tea for the day and today I’ll have some chocolate covered Hobnobs with the tea. I think I’ll sit myself down on the kitchen stairs while drinking it so the dogs can run around and play as they please for a while. The forest dove is still nesting in the Ginnala maple so I try to avoid being close to it for as long as they are there, I don’t wan’t the monsterkitten to know they are there.

Have a great day!

The Rapunzel has opened its flowers. I wonder if I should try to eat one of the roots? It is said to taste something like radishes.

The Chinese Wisteria is finally climbing up the Golden shower (Laburnum) It shouldn’t even survive here and it grows beside the cottage where I’ve tried to get rid of it for years but it just refuses to die. So I moved a bit piece of the roots to the laburnum instead.

It’s working after all :-)

Turns out it did work after all, they think it was updating info that needed to shut down the wifi so the updates starts to work. They do it when I usually don’t use the computer. So it started to work at the same time I reached the company 🙂 🙂 🙂

Wifi.

Looks like my wifiy is dead, power goes in but the green light doesn’t glow. I guess it’ll take some time to get another one so until then have a good life.

Tiny little thorns.

A bit fifferent for me now because I’m writing this on my phone and I’m pretty sure it’s the last time 😄

I haven’t been able to walk here in almost 20 years because of the dogrose growing there. I cut off all dead and some living branches and now I have loads of tiny thorns in my hands now 😄😄😄

Wonderful weather today, at least after I stopped working. I haven’t really done anything but time has just flown away. The most exiting thing was to see if the monsterkitten would accept her new food, the store didn’t have the one she usually eat and she’s quite picky but it seems to have been good enogh for her.

The magpies are going nuts in the garden because the monsterkitten think she can cache the magpie younglings 😄 to be honest she is thankfully quite lousy when it comes to catching birds, mice is another thing, when it comes to mice she’s a master hunter.

He is always keeping an eye on her. Except for this time 😄

I truly hate writing on the phone so this is it for today 😄

Have a great day!

Two days of working at my new job and I like the place. Industrial jobs are fun until Your good at it but what’s important are the work friends and I have good ones. We don’t speak much while working but we have fun at our breaks and that’s important.

It sort of feels odd to speak about industrial jobs when one is working with coffins 🙂 🙂 but it is the truth. There are lots of models and so far I’ve not learned which one is which and the difference isn’t that big either to be honest 🙂 No heavy lifting is required and that’s the first time that happens to me in I don’t know how many years, also I can adjust the hight in a way that best fits me so no strange bending down to reach either, that’s even longer since that happened to me 🙂 🙂

My time managing skills have died while being at home for seven months though 🙂 🙂 So the blog writing will be a bit sporadic until I revived that skill, if possible 🙂 🙂 but easter is coming up so there will be blogs from Thursday until Monday for sure.

The dogs are very happy when I come home after work and so far no escaping tendencies from Alma 🙂 🙂 Instead she drags out her bed from the dog house in to the garage and that is more impressive than it sounds. They once dug a hole under the wall to the garage and Alma is so big that even without the bed she barely gets in and out from there 🙂 🙂 :-)I’ll buy new beds for both of them when I get a full salary again 🙂

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and then watching some tv.

Have a great day!

I can work around the photo problem thankfully.

Somehow the editing program has locked itself to save all photos in the size /pixels ) I want but still keep all the MB the original photo is, really annoying but I’ve found a way around it but it takes so much more time. The internet doesn’t help much either, I’ve done what they’ve said one should do but the result is just the same 🙂 🙂 🙂

Well this works so now I have time to figure out what can be wrong, it is most likely I that have clicked on something and now I need to find it 🙂 🙂 🙂
