At least the morning was cool.

DSC_0002 (4)

Clear sky and 8C (46,4F) when we went out on our morning walk today. At 10:30 the sky was still clear and blue but the temperature had risen to 26C (78,8F). Still a clear and blue sky and now it’s 29C (84,2F) and I’m not sure if it stops there or will get even warmer. It is too warm for my taste as it is now so I do hope it starts to cool off now instead. They’re saying it will get warmer tomorrow.

Alma decided that she would be a monster on our morning walk so I can’t say I enjoyed it especially much, even if it was just enough cool and no flies were flying around. Ok she had a lot of energy in her body since it was too hot to take walks the two previous days but she really can’t control herself. The second we were at home she changed to that wonderful nice and pleasant dog I rarely see outside my garden. My guess is that she either really doesn’t like to take walks or she loves it so much that she just can’t keep calm.

The two sofas I’ve ordered will arrive here on Monday some time before noon so I had to break down the old corner sofa I’ve had for at least twelve? years. Ever since I got the recliner from my neighbors I’ve left the sofa to my dogs and it was almost sad to see how bad it had deteriorated since then πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The seat cushions had holes in them and one is so bad that the stuffing fell out from it while I carried it to the wood shed (well I need to place it somewhere until I can get rid of it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ). The two for the back and the smaller one to sit on is now placed in the dog house. Normally I give my dogs my old sweaters and other warm and sort of fluffy things to have in there but every young dog I’ve had here them drags it out into the dog yard, I would really like to see Alma drag these huge cushions outside πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I did actually try to unscrew all screws in the sofa when I was picking it apart but It took just too much time, not that I was in a hurry until Monday morning but it did start to be a bit too warm to do any kind of job πŸ™‚Β  So instead I just broke it down into smaller pieces, yes that was a bit more job but it was a faster way to get rid of it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It was impossible to clean the floor where the sofa was standing without having to place all other furnitures outside while I moved that sofa around to be able to vacuum there, so it wasn’t a nice sight when the sofa was gone πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I was pretty sure that Bertil and Teodor had done something there and yes they had plus that the dogs had pushed in lots of things too. So first I removed all bigger pieces, then I vacuumed the floor and after that I washed the floor with chlorine. Nothing says clean and bacteria free as good as chlorine does πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I took all the dog blankets outside and cleaned them up as good as I could and placed them on the floor where the sofa had been standing, the dogs aren’t happy and they all tried to climb in my lap in the recliner πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ As soon as the new sofas are in place I’ll start looking after a “new” table and a couple “new” low book shelfs. I have some big oil paintings on that wall so they need to be low πŸ™‚ I’ve looked at where the second had places are in FalkΓΆping and they all have odd opening hours, now I’ll see what the other towns around here has. I did see one table in one of the second hand stores in FalkΓΆping but I doubt I’ll manage to get it inside my car.

I’ve had the front door (towards north) open all morning but now the sun shines there so it’s time to open the kitchen door so the dogs can go in and out as they please. Ok it’s too hot for them to do anything but if they suddenly get a burst of energy and wants to go outside the kitchen door will be open πŸ™‚

The photos comes from today and also yesterday.

So today is the last day of my vacation, tomorrow is just an ordinary weekend. One could say that the vacation actually goes on until Sunday but I prefer to feel that Sunday’s just another Sunday and the day after is a work day, feels less dramatic that way πŸ™‚

Still I could win the big winning in the lottery but I would still work that month that we are supposed to just so that they’ll get a chance to get someone else to continue after I’ve left. It is very easy to be generous as long as that winning actually hasn’t happened πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We were supposed to have a sunny day here with a temperature around 20C (68F). They have actually gotten the temperature right but the sun has been absent most of the day. It showed itself a short while in the morning but very little after that.

Yesterday was very different though, we had sunshine now and again and the temperature was nasty high as also the humidity was. Rather unpleasant to be honest. Then the rain and thunder arrived. I have to say that it was a magnificent thunderstorm and it continued from around 5pm way in to the night. Strong winds created havoc in some places in this region and what the wind didn’t destroy the hail did. The wind didn’t do anything here but the hail perforated all bigger leafs it hit. I looked at my lightning app and it showed that at one point we had more than 500 lightning hits between Skara and FalkΓΆping, I live exactly in the middle of those towns. I can tell You that there’s no need to water anything today, on the contrary, I’ve needed to empty almost all pots I have πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I really should mow the lawn before I get back to work. It isn’t particularly high yet but with all this rain falling I can already see how it is growing. I’ll use all that cut off grass to cover the ground in the vegetable patch. It will keep the sand moist at the same time the mouldering grass will fertilize the ground, a win win situation πŸ™‚ Also after doing like that a couple of years I’ll have more real soil than sand in there. I still only have male flowers on my squash plants, a bit annoying but there’s still plenty of time to get some squashes before autumn arrives. The beans are flowering and I have plenty of lettuce and chard growing. The cabbage is struggling though, I do remove any eggs and caterpillars I find but something is still eating those cabbage leafs. I also think we now can start to pick up potatoes πŸ™‚

It is time to give the dogs something to eat, no rush really because they’ve all had one pancake each already πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Yesterday, when it still was nasty hot but the thunder was on its way I made some jam. I had some apricots that were too old but not really enough to make jam from it, so I tossed in a couple of mashed bananas too plus a pinch of cardamom. To my very big surprise it turned out really well πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It’s actually quite tasty so I had that on my pancakes today πŸ™‚ I should perhaps have put in an apple or two from my crab apple tree because those apples contains lots of pectins that will stop the jam from being a bit runny. Still it runs very slow so it’ll work on toast as well πŸ™‚

Sometimes I do wonder about our postal service!

20220728_045036

So I woke up to e clear sky just before the sun started to rise and we went out for our morning walk as soon as I had put on my clothes and the dogs their harnesses. I did take a look at the thermometer before we went out and it showed 4C (39,2F). It was wonderful to take a slightly longer walk in that temperature because not a fly or mosquito were around to bite and annoy us πŸ™‚

Alma had once again decided that she would be impossible but she did at least not scream loudly when we passed our neighbors and Albin didn’t even look for Salmiak. Salmiak however is totally ok and it might actually be that Albin never tried to bite him but just push him down with his nose but as I said to the beekeepers I’m not willing to try it again just to see if that’s the case πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Anyway we walked down to the creek and followed it down-streams. Alma was everywhere as usual and when Albin wanted to walk out on one of those small bridges that cross the creek she naturally had to follow and since Alma is like she is she then fell down and in to the rather muddy water πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

That didn’t calm her down especially much and we had a full blown war between us all the way home. It’s fun but as soon as we pass the gate she calmes down and becomes that wonderful dog she is here at home. She smelled of mud and rust, lots of rust in the waters here so I had to shower her. I could have and should have done it outside with the garden hose but instead decided I should do it in my tiny bathroom. I decided that she would follow in her own pace and everything was going fine until both Nova and Albin decided they too had to go in to the shower. Well I did manage to get in there but she wasn’t happy. At least until she realized it wasn’t that bad, perhaps even rather nice πŸ™‚

After that I had to go to the store. I decided I should go to the one in the village where I work, mostly because I needed duct tape. They are the only ones I know that sell a kind where one can split it in half and get two thinner strips. All other ones are difficult to do that with. So off I went. At the same time I got two text messages that told me I was going to have two packages delivered to my home but I didn’t need to be at home at the delivery. Just before I left the store I also got a text message that Almas new harness had arrived and that I could pick it up in Gudhem. I could have waited but thought I really want to try it as soon as possible.

When I came home again my neighbor told me that a guy had been here to deliver my packages but went to them instead. My neighbor told him to leave the packages with him or just put them in my garden around 20 meters beside. No problem the delivery guy said, tossed the packages in the car again and drove off??!! I then got a message that the packages had been delivered but I didn’t have them and my neighbor hadn’t either. So I called our postal service and was pretty angry, asked something about if the driver possible had some mental challenges or other problems (I’m not proud of that)Β  (I did say to the girl in the phone that I wasn’t mad at her but she was the one who unfortunately had to take my anger). She fully understood and after perhaps ten minutes waiting she then asked how my neighbors house looked like. The delivery guy had told her he had placed the packages close to the post boxes (around a 100 meters, much the same in yards)Turns out that he had placed my packages at the farm up the slope!

DSC_0002 (5)

The weather has been rather mixed today. Quite warm and very windy. Lots of clouds but still lots of sunshine and one surprising shower with five lightnings hitting not too far away to the south west of the village. I had almost all windows open but the ones in the living room when I looked outside and thought it must be raining. I did manage to close them all before the heavy raining started and the thunder started to thunder πŸ™‚

I’ve ordered a “new” mobile phone. I really didn’t want to but realized that I really need to. I have a few cracks in it but so far that hasn’t been any problem but so the other day, when I had the phone in my hand while looking at Albin and Alma playing, I suddenly heard a rather quiet but still clear cracking sound. Turns out that the phone now cracks more and more and it’s just enough to hold it for it to happen.

So I went to the website where I bought my computer, the one that sell used computers and phones. Turns out they had a sale on phones so now I bought an almost new Samsung Galaxy Note 9. It was almost a third of the price buying a new in a store. They go through all phones and deletes anything personal from the previous owner. My guess is that some company had it as a phone for an employee and that the company stopped to excists not long after they got the phone and that it is repossessed. Still I would rather continue to have the phone I now have but I doubt that the glass will hold much longer. I really dislike having to get a new phone or computer.

I’ve mowed the lawn today, haven’t mowed since before the heatwave so in some places the grass were pretty high. Especially in those places where the water hose were placed, the one that is perforated so that the water slowly waters the plants πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I did think the flies were slightly insane since the wind reached my garden but now I understand it was because of the coming thunder. I was actually planning to just mow a part of it all but since the wind blow so that it felt cooler than it was I just continued and mowed it all.

It was quite nice in the early morning though, we were out on our walk around 4:30 am and the hot air was on its way so we had a thick layer of fog all over the village. It doesn’t last for long after the sun has risen so I thought it best to get outside as soon as possible. I doubt we’ll have any fog tomorrow morning though since the ground now will already be warm when the sun rise again.

I watered the vegetables and potatoes as soon as we had come home and I must say we do have unusually many mosquitoes this summer. They all went to visit me as well and even though it doesn’t itch any longer the sound of them is quite annoying. I just heard one flying around my head when I was closing the kitchen door so I sprayed some insecticide towards it. I rarely use insecticides but fly season can be nasty here and suddenly those sticky fly papers can’t take any more flies and then I will use it. I now have two open windows upstairs and one downstairs, all covered with mosquito nets of course.

Sunshine, water drops hanging on my Amur grapevine. A rather nice view from my kitchen window.

The sun shone and there was a beautiful layer of fog above the ground when I left the village to go to work and I thought that it was typical that we would have such a wonderful morning when I’m working and can’t take a walk in it.

Turns out that it only was here that we had that wonderful morning, As soon as I came to the lake I met a grey sky and some rather boring fog, sort of being there but not really hiding anything. It was like that all the way to work. The finishing of the potato patch and vegetable patch finally caught up with me so today my body has been aching, I wasn’t even sure I would be able to get out of bed πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So since The things I have to paint at work were in no hurry to be painted I instead went home after lunch. I thought I might as well stay that long since I had ordered lunch and didn’t want to reheat it when coming home.

There are two oaks in this photo. One is growing between the pine trunks and one to the left of them. Both are much the same age, perhaps around 25-30 years old. One grows like a tree and one is more or less the same hight it has since I moved here, it’s more like a bush.

I don’t think it helped that I decided to start sowing some things in my vegetable patch in heavy rainfall yesterday either πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The day was warm but the rain pretty cold but now I at least have started. I had ordered a new hardy kiwi vine since one of the ones I have seems pretty dead and it arrived today. The problem was that they had delivered it to my neighbor instead πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I was surprised that they actually had done that since I’ve had plenty of packages delivered to my home. Also they delivered the package to a road where there are three houses and I don’t think it is common for the middle house to have the number 3 as home number πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I planted the vine and then we went out for a walk. Alma behaved pretty well, I was so glad she didn’t see the deer in the field. The first annoying forest flies have arrived but they were so few that I didn’t care. Besides this nothing much has happened. The company I’m working at is going so well that they now will make a new storage building so we finally can have the space we have in the factory for working spaces we really should have already. They’ve also rebuild my old painting department so that most people will be working outside the nasty hot and humid paint department. I’m really happy for my work friends because that hot department made me hate warm weather, instead i enjoyed walking outside in my t-shirt when it was below freezing temperatures outside πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Now when I don’t work there I hope I’ll go back to liking warmer temperatures again πŸ™‚

It is time for a cup of tea, I’m pretty sure I’m tired enough so that I still can fall asleep tonight πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

I can always use it as a bersΓ₯ later on.

It looks nicer outside than it is. Mostly sunshine, I can hear the wind blow pretty hard but I can’t say it feels warm even in the sunshine. They keep saying warmer weather will come soon but they’ve said that for some time now. Most likely it’ll arrive when we work and go away again when the weekend comes πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’ve planted the peach tree today and when I watered it I suddenly saw that there are tine peaches on it πŸ™‚ Seven for sure but it looks like two more withered flowers might give two more. I do hope the tree hasn’t been too stressed by being shipped in a box so that these peaches grow to become big and I’ll be able to eat them. My hopes aren’t high but I’ll hold my thumbs and cross my fingers for good luck πŸ™‚

I saw cats, hares and foxes on our morning walk today but thankfully none of the dogs did πŸ™‚ So Alma was actually behaving rather well almost all the walk. Too much to see when walking by the fields so she was a bit hyper there but as soon as we entered the forest she calmed down again. She didn’t even scream when we met and left the Beekeepers. Normally it would sound as if she knew they were walking towards their bitter end πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I fell asleep in front of the tv and woke up to the American Song Contest. I had already heard who won it all but I didn’t know the end result. Turns out that my three favorites ended up amongst the four first. I did not like the one who came second though but three out of four isn’t bad. Our big final is tonight. Ukraine is going to win, not only because the group got special permission to go by the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy (they are after all in war) but the song is not that bad. So the fight is really about second place and our song is one of three (the other two are United Kingdom and Italy) that will fight about it.

Tomorrow will be lawn mowing day, I noticed that my neighbor mowed outside my garage, we have our trash bins there so he tends to mow that part for me πŸ™‚ I’ll also do the laundry as usual but esides that I’ll do very little. The fence I’ve bought isΒ  self standing so to make it easy I might make my two vegetable patches round. The fence is rolled tightly so trying to make the corners in90 degrees will be a bit hard. I’m also thinking of planting my mini kiwi vines towards one of those fenced in vegetable patches so they will keep that fence at place when they start growing.

If I in the future doesn’t want a vegetable patch there I can use that space as a what we call bersΓ₯ (from the french word berceau and is pronounced much the same way). A bersΓ₯ is a place where one can sit and have coffee with friends and normally there’s a horse shoe shaped hedge around it. Typically here they use lilacs as the hedge. No roof above it though. Mostly the hedge is high so no one can look in and to keep the wind away but I’ve seen those with lower hedges too. So my “hedge” would be a fence covered in mini kiwi vines, not bad at all to be honest πŸ™‚

Four small peaches in this photo and five more on the way if the tree isn’t too stressed by the move in a package.

The Daffodils (we call them easter lilies) had started to flower in FalkΓΆping. Here at home I can see one bud so far.

So on Monday afternoon they called me from the garage and told me that they had found an oil leak and wondered if I wanted to get it fixed now or later. I said now and they said good, You can get Your car on Tuesday after 1pm. No problems for me, I just called my work place and told them what had happened and they never complain when things like that happens.

So I start walking at 11:30 to catch the bus that goes to FalkΓΆping at 12:39. Apparently my spine is a bit inflamed which I didn’t know, so after a while it squeesed some nerves that goes all the way down my leg and the walk is 45 minutes long in a good day, yesterday wasn’t a good day at all and I limped badly the last meters to the bus stop but I did make it. After that it’s a fifteen (in a good day) minute walk uphill to the garage. I did reach it after 35 minutes, limping even more bad πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I open the door and they guy sitting there says we didn’t get that spare part this morning πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We will however get it this afternoon. At that moment I actually wondered if it was worth going to jail for the rest of my life after killing him for not giving me a call at all to tell me that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I think he could feel that so then he said But we have a car You can borrow. It’s really good to drive but You mustn’t remove the ignition key when You’ve stopped. I so wish I had asked why I couldn’t do that because every time I had stopped the car I really, really wanted to pull out that key to see what would happen πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ No problem at work really and absolutely no problems here at home since people can’t find this place even with a map or a GPS πŸ™‚ But I wanted to stop by the store on my way home and some people in that village wouldn’t think for a second before that had stolen that car, a small Renault by the way.

I took this from the bus on my way home. A bit too dark because it’s almost impossible to see the Abbey ruin beside the church.

So every time I left the car I just placed my fleece jacket over the steering wheel so that no one could see the key sitting there. So I had the car until this afternoon when I finally could get my own car back. I must say that the little Renault was quite nice to drive but the seat was so hard that my back started to act up again. I’m glad that I finally understood how the fan and heating worked because we had frost again this morning. The rest of the day has been really nice though, lots of sunshine and warmer winds. I could have the door open to the painting box as well. Another good thing is that my work friend has come back from his paternity leave. Both because I’ve missed him but also because I finally don’t have to do his job πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’ll still go through all the nozzles in the big washing machine every Friday morning because he can’t leave his little boy at the day care center so early in the morning. I like that part a lot because that means I’ll still have my going home early Fridays πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Besides this nothing much else has happened. I haven’t worked much this week but I still feel that tomorrow can’t come fast enough πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ If everything goes as planned I’ll start removing grass on the spots I’m planing on having my vegetable patch and also my potato patch.

Back in the days there was a lively little village beside the castle, almost all of it is gone now.
DSC_0072
Here there was a yellow apartment building, it was still there when I moved here. There was also a shop(since long closed) and I think an old garage as well. All the old root cellars that all the villagers had are still there though on the other side of this road.

Have a great day!

It isn’t that long ago people lived in these houses. Too bad the castle owners didn’t know that the pandemic would have risen the price on them so much that it would have been a really great idea to renovate them. The pandemic made people realize that living in the middle of nowhere actually would be a great idea since it is harder to get infected πŸ™‚

Home sweet home.

Biting wind.

DSC_0001 (6)

The sun is shining, the sky is mostly blue and there’s an ice freezing wind there to destroy it all. At first it hit from south east so it was impossible to stay in the garden for more than a minute or two but now it has moved to blow from north so we can finally stay on the south side of the cottage without freezing.

We stayed mostly in the forest on our morning walk today but we had to pass a couple of fields and of course we then met eight roe deer. I managed to stop Alma from seeing them but that didn’t stop her from shouting like crazy πŸ™‚ It passed fairly quickly though and the rest of the walk she behaved reasonable well.Too bad I had to occupie her because I therefore couldn’t take any photos of the deer

I sowed twenty kernels of corn in a small container about a month ago and they have all grown together, so today was the day I needed to do something about it. They are quite big now and that helped. I filled a bucket with water and after that I just put the entire lump with corn plants and soil in it. It took around an hour but finally the soil was so wet that I could separate them from each other so now I’ll just plant each and everyone of them in separate pots. Have no idea where I’ll place them because even though the pots are small they will need a lot of space πŸ™‚

Also it looks like Alme believes this is grass for her to eat, she tried to chew one of them but I managed to stop her πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Perhaps I’ll place them in my cool cellar with the plant light. The cooler temperatures will slow down the growing but no dog will be able to chew them down πŸ™‚ My brother’s cherry plum tree is in full bloom now, he lives by the coast. So I took a look at mine and it turns out that a few of its flowers also are open now. I wish it would calm down because frost and flowers aren’t a great thing if one want fruit and we can after all have frost at nights until at least June sixth.

I better replant those corn plants and after that I think I’ll sow some cabbage and Broccolo. It looks like a green cauliflower but the taste is more like common broccoli. I’ve grown it before I moved from my old home town and I remember liking it a lot. Well I better get started or I’ll forget to do any of it πŸ™‚

DSC_0004 (5)

It has snowed again and it looks like this snow will stay all day but melt away tomorrow. It was quite nice this morning, despite it being chilly with snow in the air because there was no wind. We actually went out quite late for being us because I had forgotten to turn off the alarm. So up we went at 3:30 in the morning (well night might be a better word for it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ) because the dogs really wanted to go outside.

I sat down in the sofa after that and fell asleep, I didn’t sleep well but for quite a lot of hours πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Alma behaved reasonable well but I was worried when we reached the fields because we have lots of hares here now and I really didn’t want to deal with her screaming as soon as she see some wildlife. No wildlife in sight thankfully but I could hear the cranes trumpeting all around us.
