Category: The fields.

They say it’ll be warm next week but I’ll believe it if it happens :-)

This day took its time to become reasonable warm and nice, mostly it felt like winter was coming back and the clouds up in the sky looked like solid led. But it did eventually become warmer and the drizzle we had before noon stopped to drizzle and then the sun finally showed itself.

Now new clouds have arrived and tomorrow will eventually become pretty warm, almost 20 C (68 F) but first we’ll have to go through much the same weather we had today but with lots more rain. It will however not be freezing cold during the night and it looks like nights will stay like that for the ten coming days. Then again we all know how our weather forecasts are so it can be the opposite as well 🙂 🙂 🙂

We walked down to the creek in the morning and Alma finally was calmer than she has been lately. Malkolm walks really well leashed and Nova is never a problem so for once I didn’t have to put 90% of both my energy and time on keeping control of Alma. She behaved much better when we later in the day walked to the bog so there might be a tiny bit of hope that she’ll calm down eventually 🙂 🙂 🙂 She didn’t even scream when we saw four deer in the fields and that’s really unusual.

I’ve managed to make my brother slightly obcessed by cameras too now 🙂 Sometimes he buys something, then regrets it and ships it to me 🙂 🙂 So today I have some times used an Olympus E-420. Like all old cameras it has a mind of its own so every now and again it just changes all settings I’ve just programmed so I have to do it all again 🙂 🙂 🙂 Overall for being such an old camera I think it was pretty good and will most likely use it every now and again when I want to have a very light camera with me, my Nikons are not heavy but compared to this one they are heavy weight 🙂

The Maples are in bloom.

I’ll go out in to my garden tomorrow when it is raining and sow grass seeds because 24 years with dogs really wear the grass down but I’ll also sow annuals in the old vegetable patch. I have already done that but then the winter came back so I suspect some of what I sowed might have frozen to death during that time. I’ll pick up most of what’s left in my cool cellar and place it on the north side of the cottage. There really isn’t any place here now where the sun doesn’t reach at any time of the day. Soon the sun will rise north- east (north north-east to be honest) and it is already setting at north-west and soon at north north-west. It is always best if the sun can’t reach those plants because just like us humans that will get burned by the sun easily in the beginning so will leafs too.

All the following photos are from the Olympus camera.

I’ll also plant some of what’s already standing outside, I was going to figure that out today but time flew so I’ll have to do that tomorrow instead. I’ll also go through the dog yard to check after weak spots and fix them so that Alma can’t escape 🙂 🙂 🙂 We’ve been up since 4 am because Malkolm woke me up after he had pooped beside my bed. I see that as a good sign because he didn’t tell me at all just a few days ago 🙂 🙂 🙂 To be honest though, he hadn’t have to wake me up because that small was so bad that not even a dead person would have missed it 🙂 🙂 🙂 If this had been a working day this accident would most likely not have happened because 4 am is the time the alarm starts so I can go to work.

It is time to bring them all out for a last time today and hopefully he will soon understand that it always is best to wake me up before he does anything because if he does he will get a treat and he does like a treat. His appetite comes from the Golden Retriever in him, the barking indoors comes from the English Cockerspaniel so I wonder what will show from the Border collie? He doesn’t seem to herding at all but loves to stop at every spot where animals have walked, I’ve never heard that about Border collies 🙂

Have a great day!

There’s at least no snow here now.

The Crane couple that nests not far from the cottage walked around in the cow pasture when we went out on our morning walk. They are used to me and my dogs going out there every day so they didn’t really care about us.

I can’t pretend that we had a wonderful weather here today but the temperature rose above 10C (50F), there was no wind in the early morning when we had our morning walk but it did rain. First mostly drizzle but the closer we got to home the more it rained. It stopped shortly after we were in the cottage again 🙂

The ground is saturated with water now, there’s only sand in the ground so when the water stays like this there isn’t any more space for more water.

We went out to the bog even though Nova wanted to go down to the creek. I wasn’t sure about the rain and if it would become worse so I preferred to not walk too far from home. She was a bit grumpy at first but since now both her and Malkolm stops to sniff on the ground every second meter she sort of looked satisfied after a while. Alma went insane like always so I really can’t say what she thought about it 🙂

The wild hogs are slowly but steadily destroying the roads here now.

All the birds seemed to love this weather though, they’ve been singing all day but I think that 99% of the House sparrow and Field sparrow population around here stayed beneath the roof on my patio 🙂 The Cranes in the pasture definitely liked the rain, I guess it brought out all the frogs so they could have a big breakfast 🙂

Two days ago, after work, I was going to have something to eat in front of the tv, just as I was about to sit down a puppy suddenly stood between my feet so I lost my balance. It all went really slowly so I just leaned towards the table and to my big surprise I continued slowly towards the floor. One of the table legs broke so both the table and I continued down to the floor in a very slow speed 🙂 🙂 🙂 So yesterday I ordered a new table that will arrive most likely on Wednesday or Thursday.

I’ve placed the broken table leg so that I still can use it as long as none of the dogs run in to the table 🙂 🙂 🙂 I really should have bought another table at the same time I bought my sofas but even though the old table was pretty ugly it still worked and I thought I just as well could use it until it finally gave up 🙂

Have a great day!

Our weather service is quite useless to be honest.

We still have quite a lot of snow left and since our quite useless weather sites now say it won’t be that warm tomorrow as they’ve said for five days the white crap may stay longer than I had hoped for. Ok it is still going to be above 10C (50F) but nowhere near to what they said before. Honestly I have no idea why they even get paid when they do such a lousy job!

Still the slightly warmer air that has arrived hit the cold air from the snow and gave us a rather nice and thick fog instead. We went out quite early in the morning for our walk because since I thought it would be warmer the fog might vanish quite fast. It didn’t because it stayed until way after noon 🙂 🙂 I thought Nova would go out to the bog again today but she decided that a walk along the creek would be nice.

Much of the snow had melted on the gravel roads so Malkolm wanted to walk most if it himself. It wasn’t until we reached the path along the creek when I had to start carry him even though he did protest a lot 🙂 There was so much snow that it even was hard for the rest of us to walk there without sliding down into the creek 🙂 birds were singing even though I think the fog dampened their will to. I did hear something walking around and since fog brings out my imagination I thought it might be a troll.

It wasn’t though, it was just a badger talking a walk in the snow 🙂 🙂 Could have been wild hogs because they’ve done a great job digging up the road from the creek. They had done a great job digging up the field as well to be honest. I don’t know how many of them we have now but by the look of what they do to the roads and fields they are way too many. I’ll protest to the wolves because it is after all their job to remove as many of them as they can 🙂 🙂

Thew Starlings wren’t too happy about the weather 🙂

Always when a new puppy comes to live with me I always start by letting them go off leash when they’ve been here a week, so today I did the same with Malkolm. To be honest I never did that with Alma because she was all over the place all the time when she arrived here and even though she’s much calmer now I still never would let her off the leash 🙂 🙂 I noticed how Malkolm behaved because he too noticed that she’s a bit wild 🙂 So when we walked he walked close to Nova but when we stood still he went to Alma 🙂 🙂 🙂 Here at home it’s almost only Alma he’s with and I think that’s how Nova wants it to be 🙂 🙂

Tomorrow I’ll leave them in the doghouse/ yard/ garage for an hour because I have to go to the grocery store. He has already been there for fifteen minutes once and I doubt he realized I was gone. So I’ll check with my neighbors if they can see or hear him while I’m at the grocery store, I doubt it though because I’m pretty sure Alma will play with him the entire time 🙂

Have a great day!

Chaffinches have arrived at the feeder with sunflower seeds in it. Some stay here over winter but most fly south. Now when they return the forest has changed and they need easy to get food until the insects starts to hatch. I’ve seen the second butterfly for this year today by the way.

Winter has come back but it won’t stay for long. Snow fell yesterday but not more than a centimeter (two fifths of an inch) so most of it melted away since we have had sunshine all day long 🙂 Now there’s snow in places where the sun couldn’t reach it.

The night was a cold and so will the coming nights so I guess that we’ll have snow on the ground until Wednesday comes with warmer weather. Now the Cranes are so many by the lake that I can hear them when I go out in the early morning. It’s the sound of spring 🙂

I have so little laundry that I skip to do it today but I have made dinner for next week and I’ve baked a bread. I could only find frozen gluten free bread in the german grocery store and it wasn’t a yummy kind but it worked really good when toasted. So I tried a new recipe today but had to have it in the oven for much longer time because it had a hard time to be baked all the way through, so I guess I won’t try that one again 🙂 🙂

I was told I should talk with the optician with an referral to an eye specialist about the cataract, so I’ll have a talk with them when I get my new glasses on Maundy Thursday.  Better to be early than late.  Not much else has happened this weekend beside me sowing some seeds that I have had in the fridge in damp paper towels in plastic bags. I filled up an old balcony flower box and placed another broken one over it so no birds or mice can reach them. Also I bought another Ginkgo tree that I planted in an big old clay pot but that one I need to have indoors until it’s farther between rather cold nights than it is now.

It is time to watch Biathlon on tv, the season is ending and the last competitions is held in Canada so for once I’ve had all mornings free to do other things 🙂

Have a great day!

Winter weather again.

The little lake behind my garage.

So the Swedish rounds of the Eurovision Song Contest is over for this year. Two Norwegian brothers, twins, won this year and their win was really big. Not my cup of tea but they can sing without taking a single false tune, can dance and seems to be genuinely nice guys so I’m pretty sure they’ll end up amongst the top five when the Final is in May here in Sweden. Malmö is hosting, our third biggest city just opposite Copenhagen in Denmark. My favorite came second and is very different to the winner but both the international jury and we Swedes wanted the twins to win and when both agree we usually end up amongst the top five.

I doubt we’ll win because down in Europe they’ve come to dislike our songs just because we tend to end up amongst the top five 🙂 🙂 🙂 We have after all now won the whole shebang seven times. Only Ireland has done that before. The weather has been indoor weather for two days now, cold, windy and some snow falling. Ok the snowfall was so tiny and so were the flakes that it was hardly noticiable on the ground but it was annoying anyway 🙂

I stayed home from work last Thursday and Friday because of an accident, nothing serious happened to me, bruising and a scrape. We were lifting things weighing 44Kg (97 pound) and we do that with a magnet. This thing is flat on the side I stood and has a sort of sharp edge all around. I was prepared with hooks when it was high enough to be hanged on the chain that transports the thing through the factory. Suddenly the magnet came loose and the thing fell down. I was hit on my right hand, then it hit my left knee, scraped my right shin and had it come just a half centimeter (a fifth of an inch) it would have cut off my toes on the right foot. Now it landed on the toe-cap instead so I didn’t realize that until I tried to walk away 🙂 🙂 🙂

No serious injury but I have been fairly sour until now. It’s still a bit tender but nothing worse. Even though it was very unlucky to be hit I did have luck with the weather those two days, no wind, sunny and warm enough to have the kitchen door open all day 🙂 But as I said today and yesterday were quite different. Winter jacket on and I should have worn mittens because the wind made it so cold that I couldn’t feel my fingers when we came home again this morning 🙂

I’ll be warmer again in a couple of days and I think the Cranes will arrive with the warmer weather and better winds. I’ve seen a few circling around high up in the air but that’s it. Lots of geese and swans here now though plus all the smaller birds already singing their spring songs. Still plenty of birds by the feeders though, especially many forest birds because they are now thinning out the trees, they’ll only take the biggest trees and leave the rest but before they started they also cut down almost all those smaller trees and bushes where the smaller birds nests and find food. We’ll I’ll continue to feed them for as long as they come here.

Have a great day!

Not the nicest of weather but it is at least not cold :-)

It isn’t the nicest of weather but it is warmish and most of the day not especially windy. The wind comes and goes and in between it’s quite calm. It’s mostly slightly misty or misty rain but every now and again rain has passed by and we haven’t even been close to sunshine. They said it would be well over 10C (50F) tomorrow but suddenly it has dropped to around 5C (41F), I don’t mind as long as it doesn’t drop down below 0C (32F).

I did hear some cranes last weekend but none after that, lots of geese and swans though but no cranes. I can hear lots of owls at nights too and every now and again foxes scream, I won’t call it barking because it sounds more like a scream 🙂 Meteorologically (when the temperature is above 0C (32F) all the time for seven days in a row) it’s for once spring at the same time we normally call this spring. It’s usually not the case up here in the north where winter, at least back in the days, could last until the end of April. I don’t miss those days at all 🙂

Lots of birds are not only tweeting but singing spring songs as well here now and today I saw the first Lapwings in the fields 🙂 I only saw two here last spring and after that they vanished, it used to be loads here all summer long but something has happened, no one at work saw any after last spring either. I do hope that it just was a temporary dip in their population. We’ll have fewer birds around here this spring because they have thinned out parts of the forest, both big pines and spruces but mostly all the under vegetation that is so important for all the other animals, You know the ones that would have taken care of all the pests that now will have a free entry to attack anything that’s left, like the bark beetle that kills spruces. Why do they never learn?

Tonight it’s the fourth semi final in the Swedish parts of the European Song Contest. I must say that I’ve never heard this much crap in my life before 🙂 🙂 🙂 It’s so obvious what songs they want to go to the final because the rest are so bad that it’s cringy 🙂 🙂 🙂 One of the singers wants to stay anonymous because she normally sing quite dirty texts and she calls herself Fröken snusk (Miss Filth). Well since this is mostly a family show she actually for once had a song that wasn’t directly filthy 🙂 🙂 🙂  Tonight we’ll have Norwegian twins (around 18-19 years old) competing and even though it isn’t what I would listen to I still know it will be something good, they would never risk their reputation with something crappy  🙂

Besides this very little has happened here at home. Times are tough at work though, two more has been given notice about losing their jobs (it’s worse in the neighbor factories though). Over here no one is fired on the spot, we have at least one months notice and people like me who have worked in the same place for over ten years have six months before losing the job, so much can still happen for those having to leave in two months. The inflation is finally under control and they say the interest rate will start to drop down as well and when that happens people will start to buy things again 🙂

The night shift works late some days.

The morning shift is just around to take over 🙂

It is time to prepare for the show and hope that at least the Norwegian twins has a good song 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

I could hear Cranes today :-)

We’ve had yet another storm passing by and this time it was fierce with hurricane force gusts at the ocean and almost hurricane force gusts here inland. Well I couldn’t notice much of it here at the cottage but I could hear the sound from it. Also the forest shielded it from me when I drove to and from work except for where my work place is, there it hit my car in full force and I must say it really surprised me 🙂 I also picked up a work friend on the way because he only drives a moped car and he would have blown away over the fields if he had driven that to work 🙂 🙂 🙂

We did hear how the roof at the factory started to creak just before I drove homewards again. It was short lived though so already the next morning it was quite weak. We’ve had very mixed weather here lately besides the storm, lots of rain, some snow and surprisingly enough even two days with sunshine, yesterday and today. Yesterday was somewhat destroyed since the hunters had decided to have their last hunt (well they can come all year round to hunt wild hogs but then they’re usually here at nights) for the season.

Today was supposed to be cloudy and with rain and it did start cloudy but no rain and while we went out on our walk the cloud cover started to break up and after that we mostly had sunshine even though the occasional cloud arrived and blocked the sunshine. The first Crane has arrived this week and today I could hear a few for the first time as well. Geese and swans are plentiful though. I haven’t seen any bigger animals at all lately, not even pigs but today a squirrel crossed the road and Alma wanted to go crazy but managed to calm herself down and Albin sort of gurgled but nothing more 🙂 I don’t think Nova saw it at all, she can’t see much any more to be honest and it sounds as if I’m scolding her when I talk to her because her hearing is even worse 🙂 🙂

I just remembered that I haven’t done any dinner for work this week 🙂 Well I’ll go to the grocery store and buy some ribs or grilled chicken instead and also some potato salad and then after work I can figure out what to have for the rest of the week. I haven’t just been lazy today though. I’ve done the laundry and baked bread. Ok that does sound a bit lazy but then again it’s only me here and I have food for the dogs 🙂  The dog food I normally buy for Nova and Alma was sold out when I tried to order it so I bough something similar of the same brand. I’ve realized that Nova won’t eat anything if it isn’t made from chicken, duck doesn’t work at all, so I was happy to find this one. It smells like pellets one gives to rabbits and looks like it as well but the old lady just gulps (well as much gulping an almost 18 year old dogs manages to gulp) it down. She can do that with other food as well but then after four days just refuse to eat it, we’re on the sixth day right now and she still likes it so I guess I’ll continue to buy this one instead 🙂

Have a great day!

It started to snow when we were out this morning, if it had been rain I’d call it misty rain but it was snow and the flakes so small that it mostly looked like mist from a distance 🙂

I wouldn’t call what we’re having a storm but the wind is quite strong and the temperatures below 0C (32F) so it hasn’t been especially enjoyable to be outside today and since the wind comes from eat it also reach the cottage and garden. It will stay much the same until tomorrow evening and after that the snow will arrive instead. Damned if You do and damned if You don’t is the feeling about it 🙂 🙂 🙂

It’ll snow until Tuesday morning and they’re guessing we’ll get up to 15 cm (6 inches of the garbage. The fun thing is that already on Wednesday it’ll get warmer and we’ll get lots of rain instead, yay. Nights will mostly stay cold though so it’ll be anything but boring to drive to work the coming days 🙂 🙂 🙂

The rest of the photos were taken yesterday.

The wind didn’t reach us when we walked in the forest though so it was quite nice to be out there. Unlike yesterday when we walked down to the creek and the wind hit us when we walked by the fields. The wind managed to go through my wind proof jacket so that says a lot about how strong that wind was 🙂 🙂 So we have mostly stayed indoors this weekend.

The cold made a comeback and I’ve been freezing a lot every now and again but it seems it has left me for this time at the moment. I did however miss a step when I walked down to the cool cellar so now my back feels quite sour. It’s always something isn’t it?

I have managed to change my sleeping hours though, took one day 🙂 🙂 🙂 So it feels like I’ll have no problems with going to work in the morning again. I can’t even pretend it feels fine to go to work but it feels fun to meet all my old working friends again. Some of them had already stopped working for the day when I arrived at work.

Have a great day!

Still so windy!

The first skein (or wedge or team) of Canada geese in the sky. I’ve learned that a bunch of geese in the water is called a gaggle of geese but that it changes when they either flies above the water surface and again when they fly high over the water. Sometimes they just make the english language a bit too tricky 🙂 🙂 Especially when a flock of geese also is ok to use 🙂

You know You’ve been disconnected from the world by working the evening shift when You get surprised that the Swedish parts of the European Song Contests starts tonight 🙂 It is after all the biggest talent show we have here (well some artists are well known and experienced but quite a lot of them are mostly known from sites like Ticktock or YouTube)In this country 🙂 🙂 🙂

Another storm is passing by and I would have been much more tired of this wind if it hadn’t brought warmer weather at the same time. The winds just never stops blowing even though it was a bit calmer yesterday in the morning when we had our morning walk, After that the wind came back and we even had some rain. Today was very different, a full blown storm but sunny and warm weather. I only wore a t-shirt and hoodie when we went out, must admit that it was too little to wear while walking in the open fields but just enough when walking out of winds reach. I always have to plan for how Alma pulls the leash and how I always have to hold against it, so normally I would sweat like a pig even if I walked totally naked in a blizzard 🙂 🙂 🙂 Lately though she has started to stay mostly calm and I do hope this is the beginning of how she’ll behave for the rest of her life 🙂 🙂 🙂

We  walked down to the creek, followed it up-stream and went back home via the gravel road in the forest. I never saw any animals but I know there were wild hogs nearby because we walked up wind to them and they do smell rather a lot 🙂 🙂 🙂 The wind was so strong that not even ravens were out playing in it and it needs a lot of wind to stop them doing that 🙂

Still lots of ice where the sun can’t reach. I’m glad I have my studded boots!

I’ve started to check the seeds I’ve sown in damp paper towels and put in the fridge. Normally I only do that with seeds I want to keep an eye on because I have few or they’re hard to get. This time I had sowed columbines, I had already tossed out loads of columbine seeds in the garden but wanted to be sure that I at least have a few new ones just in case those outside wouldn’t make it. All seeds but the columbines were still dormant but six columbines had germinated, so I planted those in a pot, put a see through plastic bag over them and then took them down in to the cool cellar. The cool cellar will keep them calm so they don’t start to grow too fast and now at least I know I’ll have new columbines this year 🙂

Also the sixth pawpaw seed that had started to germinate has now a small stalk and at first I thought something had gone wrong because it looked like it had broken at the top but I took a photo of it and magnified the photo and to my surprise there actually is a tiny, tiny new leaf growing at the top of that stalk 🙂 I’ve also checked the pawpaw “trees” (so small that I refuse to actually call them trees 🙂 🙂 ) and two are totally dead while the third seems to have made it through that nasty cold night we had when it dropped to -24C (-11,20F). The English Walnut, the peach tree, the apricot tree and the persimmon hybrid tree all seems to have managed to cope with that cold weather we’ve had 🙂 Plus I’ve checked the trees I have in the cool cellar and the most of those, pear, apricot, sea buckthorns, peaches and the small pawpaw seedlings that dropped their yellow leafs because I think they thought it was time to rest before spring all look really good as well.

Well everything but a citrus plant looks rather well but winter isn’t over and it is soo easy to either over water or let them dry out too much when having anything indoors. Plus many plants are killed when they are brought out in spring, the shock of going outside can actually be too much for some plants, especially if they already have leafs growing, the sunshine will burn those leafs just like it would burn our skins.

The little pawpaw stalk. I had to magnify it a lot to be able too see that tiny little leaf at the top. It is so small that the camera couldn’t focus so I had to place a hand carved spoon made from cherry tree by myself for about 42? years ago 🙂
The pawpaw outside is still alive despite that cold weather. It is well protected by a huge Hungarian lilac though.
The hazelnut bush is ready for spring.
Unfortunately another hazel I have believes that only because we now have a few days with warmer weather it’s ok to open up the leaf buds 🙂

I better get ready for that song contest now, it’s a few hours left before it starts but I’m pretty sure I’ll fall asleep while waiting for it to start 🙂 🙂 🙂 Also yesterday I heard from a work friend that I’ll be informed on Monday that I’ll have new working hours, any other hours but the ones I have will be better and You’ll know next Friday.

I try to scare away the woodpecker as often as I can, the male one is easy but the female one is much tougher 🙂
Field sparrows are plenty around the peanut feeder.
It isn’t all peace and quiet between the different birds 🙂

Have a great day!

A slow say.

It has been a slow day today, I haven’t done much than having a walk with the dogs, Alma couldn’t behave at all today so it was a constant war between her and I. She’s in heat so I guess that’s why she’s utterly impossible at the moment.

I have made jam though. I had three big quince fruits that I needed to do something with so I thought jam would be the thing to do. One of the fruits wasn’t nice though so I tossed in the berries I picked before the first frost arrived, mostly strawberries (that didn’t taste a thing) and gooseberries that tasted a lot.

Turns out that the strawberries taste a lot in the jam and I can’t taste anything from the gooseberries 🙂 🙂 🙂 I can however taste a bit of quince 🙂 The jam will work perfectly with pancakes though, so instead of pancake Saturday we’ll have a pancake Sunday 🙂

There were some kernels in the quinces so I’ll sow them later today, the wet paper towel method. Put the seeds in a damp paper towel (and cover the kernels with it) and put it in a plastic bag and then in to the fridge. If they are viable they’ll start to germinate in a couple of months. I’m not sure what to have for dinner today though.

I have some sausages and meatballs in the freezer and I think I have an egg or two (must have three for the pancakes tomorrow though) plus some baked beans. That sounds rather nice to be honest but I can skip dinner as well and only have a few hard breads with cheese and ham, that’s not bad either 🙂

Have a great day!

Thursday morning. On our way out to the island in the bog.

The weather this week has been really nice, lots of sunshine and no wind. I couldn’t enjoy it especially much though because the cold I had during the christmas vacation didn’t want to leave me. It has been an odd one. Sometimes I’ve felt rather fine just to minutes later freeze like a dog or boil like a kettle. Runny nose and lots of sneezings but thankfully less coughing. Also the throat couldn’t decide whether it should hurt or not so that has come and gone as well 🙂 🙂 🙂

I have been on walks with the dogs though. Alma is in heat and she’s more annoying than usual, none of us can stand her for more than a few minutes at a time 🙂 🙂 🙂 She has been really annoying on our walks as well So at the moment she’s not the most popular girl here 🙂 🙂 🙂

Our fox is very much alive thankfully, I managed to take photos of it in the cow pasture on the other side of the gravel road. The fun thing is that I didn’t see it while I took some photos on the frost covered trees in the pasture 🙂 🙂 🙂  I had the wrong telephoto lens on to be honest but then again if I had had the bigger one I might not have caught the fox at all.

Today the weather sites first guessed that we would have fog in the morning, then they changed that to snow. So I wasn’t surprised that we had misty rain when I woke up, that changed to drizzle when we went out for our walk. Naturally it then turned to heavy rain for a short while to finally become snow. We did actually get fog too but well after noon. So I guess it would be hard to complain about those weather sites since we actually had both snow and fog plus the bonus rain 🙂 🙂 🙂

From now on it’ll get nasty cold again and I’m not happy about it. Alma removes all covers I hang in the opening at the dog house, so all warmth in there goes away. Really annoying! So now I’ve ordered three Dog-Igloos. One really big for her and two smaller for Alma and Albin. So when Alma has removed and obliterated the cover once again they still can be warm and cozy when they go inside their Igloos. Alma will of course try to get in to the smaller ones as well since why wouldn’t she so I can only hope that Albin wants to stay in the bigger one so she can stay there at the same time as well. They are so big that she can’t drag them outside but I guess she will try to do that anyway 🙂 🙂 🙂

All puppies and younger dogs tend to destroy anything that isn’t solid concrete, so especially things made from cloth will be teared in to zillions of pieces but I do hope she for once can stay away from destroying these Igloos, they were quite expensive. Then again, why would she.

So first they said it would be bitterly cold last night, then they changed that to just nasty cold. Turns out it was even worse than bitterly cold, it dropped down to -23.5 C (-10.3 F). It was so cold that the birds didn’t fly to the feeders after I had filled them, normally they’re there at the same time I fill them up. The temperature rose later on though so now it’s just nasty cold again.

and also a dog named Alma 🙂 🙂

It did take its time to do so though so our walk started much later than usual. We walked down to the creek and followed it down-stream. It snowed some almost all day so I couldn’t see any new tracks in the snow but something must have been walking along the creek because the dogs wanted to stop and sniff the ground every second meter 🙂 ( one meter is one point zero nine yards).  The only bird I could hear was a lonely raven who carried something while it flew across the sky, by the look of it I think it was half a loaf of white bread 🙂

I haven’t done much today besides that walk because the fever is back again and I’m sneezing a lot. Could be worse, lots of people have gotten the latest Covid and even though they are vaccinated they still say that they’ve never been that sick before. I can only guess how bad it would have been without the vaccine shot. I started another radiator yesterday evening and guess if I’m glad i did now when the night was as cold as it was. The dogs are my radiators in bed though so I think I could have turned of the radiator in my bed room because it felt hot enough as it was 🙂 🙂 🙂

I’ve also went down to the cool cellar, which was the cold cellar this morning. Just slightly above 0C (32F). My water pipes goes along the wall down there so I do need to check how cold it is when the temperature drop that much outside. Well it rose a couple degrees when it went less cold outside but if it gets as cold as that again I do have a radiator I can put down there, freezing water pipes are no fun at all! Perhaps I should a couple more radiators online to have just in case, I still have one of the original ones in the kitchen and who knows for how much longer that will last. Then again I am a bit tired of paying bills after buying the car 🙂 🙂 🙂 I do however like my new car and is trying to figure out what name it should have 🙂

The ice was strong enough to carry a piglet after the cold night.

I should eat something for dinner but I’m not really hungry to be honest, I can make some warm sandwiches if I have enough with normal bread. I have lots of hard bread but they really don’t work being warm 🙂 🙂 I also need to stay up long tonight since, if the cold is gone, I’ll start working on Monday again. It took one day to get back to my normal sleeping routines but going back to the new ones have been a bit harder, I can stay up late but tend to wake up around five am 🙂 🙂  Well perhaps I win the lottery today so I don’t have to do that any more 🙂 🙂 🙂
