The photos today can be from today but also from a day or two back.
I don’t know where yesterday went! It passed by so fast that I all day today have believed it is Monday today π π Two days with no Alma escaping the dog yard, it feels like it’s my turn to win the lottery tonight π π
Β Β
It has been really warm today so we didn’t take any walk after work, Malkolm is after all only three months old and 25C (77F) is a bit too much when being so Young. Still he and Alma played in the garden both before and after their dinner so it wasn’t that much of a difference to be honest π π Well they were close to water any time they wanted to drink.
Β Β Β
I watered the planted trees and the vegetable patch on the part where I had sown seeds and Malkolm thought it was really funny to catch the water jet π π Alma kept her distance from it though, the risk of getting clean really scares her π π Nova slept in the kitchen π πΒ Sleeping is mostly what she does now days but every now and again she starts to play with the others just as though as they do π
Β Β Β
I cut Malkolm’s claws today, he’s really good at screaming in pain long before I’m even close π π Any imagined pain is gone as soon as he sees the treat bag though, sometimes that bag is so good that he forgets to complain at all πΒ Alma really doesn’t care, just cut the claws and give me the treats π Nova is also easy since I can cut them while she’s sleeping, I will however wake her up for her treat π
Three of my four apple trees are in bloom now.
Β
and so is the quince.
They’re guessing that we will have this wonderful weather for at least ten more days. Back in the days we knew that if May was warm and nice June would be cool and rainy and July when most people have their vacations over here would then be warm and nice. Today we never know, it can switch pretty fast. Last year my entire vacation was rainy and rarely warmer than 20C (68F) and for me that was quite ok, I’ve rarely felt so relaxed after a vacation because one couldn’t do anything outside anyway so I had long naps every day π
I marked where I’ve sown seeds with small stones along the lines π
The first leafs on my Black walnut. The melons decided to start flower now, I haven’t even separated them yet π π
I think today has been even better than yesterday, we woke up to a blue sunny sky and fairly chilly morning, it had dropped to 0C (32F) during the night. This is not unusual for this area, the last frost usually arrives at June sixth and after that, normal summers, nights regularly have temperatures down to 3C (37,4F). Well if the days are sunny, cloudy days the temperature usually don’t sink especially much, the clouds keep the warmth from escaping upwards.
Β Β Β
We went out as soon as we woke up and that was way too early really because I watched the Eurovision last night and I think it stopped just before 1 am and we woke up just after 5 am π π π Well even after napping I still think I’ll sleep very well tonight π I, Nova and Alma didn’t see any animals this morning but Malkolm did so he started to growl. That of course made Alma running around looking for what threat we might meet and after that she couldn’t relax at all π π Malkolm stopped caring about it as soon as we had passed where he saw what ever it was.
Β Β Β
I’ve started to move the citrus trees I have from the less sunny north side of the cottage out to the sunny garden, even if we would get frost now and blazing sun during the days they’ll manage it. I’ve also sown iceberg lettuce, squash, chard and some kind of Japanese cabbage today. Iceberg lettuce is hard to fail but both the chard and squash seeds were a bit old so I’ll better start to look for what I can sow in those places nothing germinates. Peas and beans will be sown later when the temperature is more reliable. I’ll sow most of the potatoes in buckets this year so as soon as I buy more soil I’ll start with them.
Β Β Β
The rest of this day I’ve mostly just watered the trees I’ve planted and I’ve had a couple of short naps π The dogs have been rather calm since it has been so warm. The wind can’t reach us down here so when it becomes warm it’s always a couple degrees warmer here and the opposite when it comes to cold weather. It’s almost never cold weather that kills plants here during winter, it’s because we have such a long time when it is dark here. So if we have a warm and sunny summer most of the less hardy plants make it till next year, is it cool and rainy most of those will die. They need that warm and sunny weather to collect so much energy that it lasts all winter through. It’s the same with how good plants flower and how much fruit/ berries they give, it all depends on what last years summer was like.
Β Β Β
The big dogs are sleeping beside me but by the sound Malkolm is chewing on a stick in my bed π π π I’ve done dinner for next week at work and the laundry so for the rest of the day I’ll do as little as possible π
I’m so glad I didn’t have to go anywhere with the dogs today π Life is so much calmer and easier when we’re all at home π We woke up pretty early today and I saw the most red sky I think I’ve ever seen in my life, unfortunately I only had the phone with me and after dropping it so many times on the ground the camera is having problems showing the right colors, the best I got was a pale pinkish color. It didn’t last for long because clouds soon covered the sky.
The last of the nights rain.Grape elder and this is as much colors we get from flowering trees here, the Maples are quite yellow as well but most tree flowers are white.
Β
It was around 5C (41F) and even without the sun quite bright outside. I like our cool mornings for many reasons but one of the best reasons is that the ticks tends to not catch us while we walk by, also it had rained during the night and even though ticks like damp areas they truly dislike wet. I had hoped Nova would want to go to the bog today but down to the creek is what she wanted, I did however manage to make her walk up-stream and in to the old forest. Nova and Malkolm stopped at every spot that had some kind of smell, there were lots of spots π Alma ran around whining and hated that we didn’t move when she wanted to see the entire world in five minutes π We did thankfully not see a single animal because today I think that would have been a bit too much for her π
Β Β Β
The sun did come out of the clouds shortly after we had come home and with it higher temperatures. It even reached well over 20C (68F) today and with very little wind it almost was too warm when I mowed the lawn for the first time this year. I was a bit worried about Malkolm for a while because he sort of lost his energy, mostly he just wanted to sleep indoors and I did worry that it could be tick related. It took a while for me to understand what was wrong, Malkolm has never experienced warm weather! π He was born when it was cold, he moved here just before the last push of winter and snowstorm. After that it has been unusually cool here but today it went warm and he learned that warmth will make You tired, especially if one plays a lot in the sunshine π π
Β Β Β
So I mowed the lawn and after that I’ve re-potted all the apricot trees and the two peaches. I’ve planted the two Pawpaw trees, one seed sown and one variety. I will not do anything with the ones I sowed, not until they start to grow again after the winter in the cool cellar and I’ll also wait with the tiny pear trees. My four year old neighbor made a bracelet for me today and I’ll wear it with pride. It is made with metallic blue beads and white beads with letters on. Now she is only four so the letters doesn’t say anything π She loves Alma as long as Alma doesn’t lick her in the face and Alma is constantly licking her in the face π πΒ She is still a bit unsure about Malkolm though be she has nothing against him licking her hands π π
Β Β Β
I’ve also weeded the vegetable patch. Mostly grass, dandelions and geraniums that moved it but also some raspberry bushes and a weed called Catchweed or Cleavers. It has an ability to stick to anything passing by and especially long haired animals are full of the seeds later in summer. It is apparently full of vitamin C and the fresh seeds are good in a salad they say and dried seeds can be used as a coffee surrogate. Doesn’t matter how good it is I don’t want it in my garden but probably will because of my dogs π π I don’t mind the dandelions so much though because the entire plant is edible even though the root is bitter but can be cut down, roasted and used as another coffee surrogate π The flowers and leafs are really tasty in a salad. Just think of only taking small leafs since they too can be a bit bitter when big.
The Harness is too big for him but he’s growing so fast that it soon will fit really well.
Β Β Β
All the dogs are completely knocked by this warm weather so they are all sleeping heavily on the floor beside me. I had hoped the ice cream lorry would come today because it could be nice to have some ice cream when I’ll be watching the Eurovision song contest tonight. The Netherlands have been disqualified because the singer apparently attacked a film crew?! It is said that he asked the crew not to follow and film him and when they didn’t give a shit about that he did something. Israel on the other hand can compete despite killing thousands of small children in the Gaza strip, strange how different we can see the world!
I’ve planted the Pawpaws I bought.
Β
The vegetable patch before the weedingand after. A good thing with almost only sand in the ground is that it isn’t hard to remove weeds, a bad thing is that it dries up way too fast but as long as one cover every bare spot with grass cuttings the ground will stay damp and the decaying grass cuttings will work as fertilizer. My new lawn mower, I always think it looks like a formula one racing car πThe bracelet my four year old neighbor made to me π
It is time to make a pot of tea and then hope I won’t fall asleep during the competition π
Yesterday we had a rain free day!! Not any sunshine but still rain free so we all did those chores in the gardens and on the farms that has been impossible or too hard to do when the rain is falling. I was the one who started the mowing, a couple of hours before the rest. The grass is growing like crazy now and even though I do like my electric mower it sure doesn’t work especially well when it is filled up with long and wet grass π
I think we actually have a couple of real Wild apple trees (their Swedish name is actually Wild apple) Malus sylvestris. They are becoming rare, we don’t even know if there are any real left because they cross pollinate with our garden apples. It’s always great to have a real Wild apple tree close by especially if one only have one apple tree because the Wild apple will help pollinating the garden apple. The ones we have a shoots from the old one that grew here when I moved to this place and that tree were old enough to actually be a real Wild apple tree. The apples are really small and mor sour than any lemon π π.European spindle.
The mowing too three times as long because every thirty seconds or so the mower stopped because there was just too much grass glued to its inside. I now have loads of small mounds with wet grass all over the lawn. I started to spread out the grass so it would dry up better but since it is pouring outside there’s no use in doping that any more. The farmers were out fetching those white balls that contains the silage they’ve made from earlier this summer. Also one neighbor was out cutting the grass and flowers along the gravel roads. They normally do that earlier in the season but since everything went late they waited long enough for most of those flowers to release their seeds.
It’s a great apple year. These are the seven Apricot trees from seeds this winter. Growing well. The pears however was hit by mildew and some died but they are finally growing again π
I doubt that the hunters had any luck yesterday because of all the noise, I doubt there was a single animal even remotely close to the village π I don’t think they’re out there today either since it is pouring down and I really would like to take a walk today but then again my dogs refuse to step outside while it is raining so here we are, quite restless to be honest π Well I can do the laundry, bake bread and make dinner for next week at work but then again I’m not sure I’m restless enough to do more than the bare minimum π π
The hunting season started this week and the hunters has been out in the forest since Wednesday morning and will be out all day until Sunday evening. It’s the Roe deer buck hunting that starts but they will also hunt wild hogs. We have so many wild hogs here now and they’ve started to destroy the roads in the forest so I won’t complain if they shoot lots of them.
In my garden right now. The Venus Flytrap is in bloom. The Sarracenias do take their time to open up their flowers, it has looked the same for almost a week now π.Illiamna remota, Kankakee mallow.
That however means we’ll not be able to take any walks until Monday. We could have if I had been able to stop Albin and Alma screaming and pulling the leash every time they see another animal, especially if it is moving but it’s just impossible to reach them when they are like that and if we’ll walk in the village we’ll see plenty of animals moving around and also a couple of joggers. I do have to say that Alma now days is much calmer than she used to be, actually so much that it’s hard to believe she’s the same dog.
It is fairly warm here now but a thick layer of clouds is covering the sky and they’re guessing it’ll be like that until Monday. The occasional shower will pass by as well and now I’m getting really tired of that rain. Why can’t it just fly to those places in need of rain instead of locking towards us all the time π π Then again that’s better than to have that heatwave they once again will have in southern Europe, just as bad as the ones they’ve already had.
My Eastern Redbud never grows any higher than this because every spring and late frost keep on killing most of it every year.Kirengeshoma palmata, the Yellow waxbell.Common soapwart.Spotted dead-nettle.
I really should use my brain when ordering something online. A couple of days ago I ordered two batteries to my old Nikon F75 camera. I could either have them delivered to the grocery store in Gudhem or shipped to my cottage. Well I really didn’t want to drive up there again just to fetch two batteries, each half the size of an AA battery, so I clicked that they should drive it here. It wasn’t until I already had clicked ok to the order that I realized that the shipping cost were three times as much as what the two batteries cost π π π What really annoyed me was the size of the package, You can see it in the photo below.
So they came in a box one foot long and they didn’t put anything else in the box than those two batteries π π Why didn’t they just send them in a padded envelope?Three photos from the Agfa Flexilette..
It is time for a last cup of tea for the day and after that I’ll most likely doze off in front of the tv π
Sometimes, well quite often actually, I wonder if our meteorologists actually get paid for their weather predictions or if they just are drunk and having fun every weekend π π π I must admit that they did get the raining we’ve had but today they said that we would have a cloudy day all day long. Is anyone surprised when I say that we had sunshine almost all day with the exception of the early morning? π π π
We didn’t even get a good fog, just this meh fog...Lingonberries. I think lingonberries are the most important berries for us Swedes, we have lingonberry jam to anything and everything π
We were out in the early morning and when we came home I tossed everything in the washing machine, I was a bit behind so I really didn’t have any clean clothes left. So as soon as the machine started working the sun broke through π π Well since I didn’t have any clothes I really couldn’t mow the lawn so I’ll have to do a little every day after work next week instead.
...
We’ve just come home after another walk and the weather was much nicer and the wind had helped to dry the high grass we walked in so for once my shoes are dry! They were soaking wet when we came home in the morning so I placed them in the sunshine so they could dry. They have been constantly wet the last week so it was a nice change π
Much nicer weather later in the day.Still some Chamomile in bloom..
It feels like I’ve done very little today but I have actually been pretty active. I’ve done the laundry as I said, I’ve made dinner for next week at work. I’ve re-potted a lot of plants and checked the sowings of perennials I have outside. They’ll grow big enough to survive winter outside if it stays as warm as they say it will, just above 20C (68F). They’re guessing that we won’t get much sunshine but that it at least will stay warm. The hunting season starts on Wednesday and they’ll be out in the forest the week out so I hope that the pasture outside my cottage is open and animal free so we at least can take walks there.
..In the garden. Nasturtiums in bloom.I think the Sarracenia flower will open up tomorrow π
We haven’t had as much sunshine today as they guessed yesterday but instead it started to rain much earlier π To be honest it was mostly drizzle but the grass went wet so I decided that I wouldn’t detsroy my day with mowing the lawn π Also the few flies that still flies around are nasty now and I don’t know what kind is biting but it sure itch a lot afterwards.
...
We went out to the bog on our morning walk. Nova wanted to walk there yesterday but I managed to make her walk to the part I wanted to walk in π π Today we went out to where she wanted. Lots of mushrooms everywhere now but I still haven’t picked a single one. I guess I still have plenty of time because the rainy weather will continue for quite a while they’re guessing now. The trees in the bog have started to change colors and it feels like it is a bit too early even for here but it has been quite cold and rainy for quite some time so I guess the trees just thought it was time to give up for the year π
,,,
I also found several flower buds on my rhododendron today, I guess for the same reason but it believing we’ve had an unusually mild winter π π π I guess that it’ll flower in early September, especially if we would get some more warm weather again. It will from now on reach 20C (68F) if they’re guessing right but they seldom do that π π π
...
I took a look at my cacti that I placed in my apple trees this summer. They all look pretty fine and the Christmas cactus now have small buds π I also have an orchid hanging out there but that one only flower once every year and just before spring arrives so I won’t know if it liked this or not until then. I did forget to check the ones that grows in my old woodland but I’m pretty sure they like it too. The only problem with hanging all these potted plants in my trees is to remember to bring them indoors again before the frost arrives π π
...
I have a second harvest of potatoes as well π I poured out the soil from the second bucket where I planted only the broken off potato sprouts. More in this bucket than in the previous one but not as many as I had last summer. Still I’m quite content as it is because I didn’t have to sacrifice any potatoes to get these, just the broken off sprouts π
My Black walnut is rather big now, higher than my cottage actually. The English walnut does grow too but I would be surprised and happy if it survives the winter here.No buds on my Easter cactus. But tiny white ones on my Christmas cactus.
It is time to have a last cup of tea before dozing off in front of the tv. I will not miss anything on tv if I would sleep alla night, I think the quality of the programs they show now days are crap to be honest.
In the front but hard to see since it is green towards green is my Persimmon hybrid tree. Behaind it the peach tree.Buds on my Catawbiense rhododendron. The potato leafs showed it was time to harvest the potatoes. The variety Astrix once again.
We’ve had a day without any rain!! It feels amazing but that will change already tomorrow evening. They’re now guessing that we’ll get more than an Inch of rain from tomorrow evening until early Sunday morning. So no matter what, tomorrow I’ll have to mow the lawn before the rain arrives π π π
...
I have survived the first week after the vacation, yay. The one who decides what I should paint and when was still on vacation so I did things I normally doesn’t, like grind down paint where there were dirt or someone had damaged the paint in some way. We were a bit behind on that job so I could do that the entire week π On Monday I’ll be back painting things again and I’ll continue to do so until September fourth when I must start to work evenings. Can’t pretend I like that but I will at least have a job.
...
A storm passed by this week, the Norwegians named it Hans and Hand was a trouble maker. There were floodings all over the southern parts of Sweden and in some places up in the north as well. One train derailed because the embankment was swept away by running water. Loads of water filled cellars everywhere, Roads were closed because they were more like ponds π π but I didn’t hear anything about boats floating away like they always do during storms π π It was much worse in Norway though, one house was swept away, mud slide all over the southern parts of the country and one smaller dam broke. They were just about to blow away a safety hatch when the entire wall beside it just broke down. No problems here though and like always I didn’t notice much of the wind because my neighbors cottage and garage takes all the wind π
...
Nova wanted to take a shorter walk after work today but I managed to persuade her to take a slight longer one down to the creek and in to the forest there. Yesterday we most likely had a wolf following us because all the dogs were suddenly in a hurry to get out to the field on the other side of the forest. No wolf following us today but there were signs that wild hogs were close, especially the smell from them, so I talked loudly to the dogs because one really doesn’t want to surprise wild hogs, I rather have wolves following us than having to meet wild hogs or moose because those two are totally unpredictable when they get scared or surprised.
...Two of my Sarracenias have flower buds now π
I’m cooking chicken in the slow cooker for the dogs right now. They’ll get it as treats or in their food if they don’t want to eat (it is Nova I’m talking about π ). I think it’s ready now and I hope it is because the smell is a bit annoying right now. No spices and no salt make it smell less nice π
It is raining and thunder is closing in as well. We didn’t have any thunder at all when the heatwave was here or when the cold weather started but now we’ve had it several times. I hope it won’t be as bad as it was the last time because it lasted for hours and sometimes the sound just kept on all the time because of all the lightnings π π
...
We did have a really nice morning and up until just after noon though, mostly sunshine and actually rather warm weather, something we haven’t been spoiled with this vacation. Still I’ve had a really nice vacation and I am so relaxed that it will be hard to start working again tomorrow π π I’ll have no problems waking up, I’ve woken up the same time I normally do when going to work the entire vacation π π
The ghost tree π..
It was 6C (42,8F) when we went out on our morning walk today, perfect because there were no flies flying around and I only found two ticks in total when I checked the dogs and we had walked in pretty high grass quite a lot. Ticks normally don’t like temperatures around those degrees. The water level is still quite high in the creek and I guess that after these four coming days it will rise even higher, they’re guessing we’ll get up to four inches of rain.
...
Four days ago I was stung on the backside of my ear by one of the wasps that lived between the roof and ceiling by my entrance door. I did swell a bit but not much, normally I swell like a balloon where I’m stung but I think it hit the cartilage in the ear. My ear has been aching ever since, it isn’t until now that the pain has gone away. It has been itching a lot and the skin started to sort of flake away π π The ear is still rather warm though but that I can live with π π It actually took three days until all the wasps were gone. I didn’t think that many actually stayed outdoors during longer periods. There’s still the occasional wasp flying there but they don’t even try to get in any more. I don’t mind wasps as long as they don’t attack me or the dogs, if they do it’s good bye!
...
It looks like the thunder will continue along the mountain and go north but these last have sounded to be really close even though the lightning apps says different so I better stop for today.
She will become 17 years old next month πAlbin’s only 8 πΒ and Alma a bit more than two years old now.She and Albin loves to eat the Japanese quince fruits. I can’t understand that because they are hard as rocks π π
The weather has been mostly meh today. We had some sunshine in the early morning and about two minutes in the afternoon but it has at least not been raining. That however will change tomorrow evening if they’re guessing right. From Tomorrow evening till Tuesday night, perhaps early Wednesday, we’ll get around 4 inches of rain. I am happy for the rain we’ve gotten but now we need some sunshine and warmer weather so that the fruits will ripen properly and become sweet.
...
They’ve removed the warnings about low ground water levels now and I haven’t seen so much water in the creek since the snow melted this spring π π I think these last heavy rainfalls have killed off a lot of flies because I really don’t need to wear my mosquito hat on our walks now. I can’t say I mind especially much but I guess birds still need them so they can build up energy for the move south. Still lots of mosquitoes though so they can fiest on them instead π π
...
The ice cream van came by today, I missed it the last time because I was in the bathroom and had no chance of getting outside in time π π Our ice cream vans doesn’t sell individual ice creams but only sell packages of different varieties orΒ mixed boxes with their most popular varieties. I actually don’t know if they’ve ever sold individual cones or popsicles, they did however sell both frozen fish, ready dinners and hamburgers back in the day. I couldn’t see any of that today though. So now I have one box with gluten free cones with chocolate ice cream and one with vanilla ice cream covered with chocolate and crushed almond on sticks. So if I don’t win the lottery today I can at least have some ice cream to comfort myself π π π
...
Do You remember that I planted those sprouts that broke off when I planted the potatoes in the potato patch? Today I emptied the bucket with just two stalks. Last year I got enough potatoes in each bucket/ pot to last a week but in this one I got enough potatoes for one dinner π Well first they almost drowned because I had forgotten to make extra holes in the bucket so one shower was enough to fill up the bucket with water. After that the drought came and I forgot to water every now and again so I think this isn’t too bad after all. I do hope for better results in the coming buckets/ pots. This variety of potato is called Asterix.
...
I think it is time to go downstairs and to have one of those ice creams π I think I’ll have one of that vanilla with chocolate and crushed almond π
I bought a Mahonia yesterday just because I wanted the plastic pot it was growing in, narrow and deep. I’m now using that pot for one of my Pawpaw (Asimina triloba) seedlings, well it’s just a seed with a tiny root so far. I did want the Mahonia as well because it gives quite tasty berries that both look and taste rather much like blueberries.
The harvest π π To be honest I did find two more as big as the two smallest in this photo π
We were caught in a heavy shower this morning and all of us,except for Nova took shelter beneath big trees. I understand why she didn’t want to go there because that was the place most biting flies decided to stay as well π π π
The weather has really been mixed today. Steady rain in the early morning but after that it has been mixed between heavy showers and sunshine. One minute sunshine and one minute showers just to go back to sunshine again. The dogs refused to go outside until rather late for being us so when we finally went out on our morning walk the flies were already there waiting for us. I can happily say that there now are fewer biting ones than there were before we went out on our walk π π
I wasn’t expecting to find any mushrooms on our walk since I guessed that Nova would chose to walk down to the creek today. So I could unfortunately not pick this rather delicious mushroom because I had nothing to carry it in...
I’m glad I mowed the lawn yesterday because it would have been impossible to do it today. My neighbor however mowed the last parts along their hedge and that mower can’t have been fun to clean up afterwards π π But I haven’t been lazy despite the weather. I’ve trimmed away lots from the lilacs (and some of a mock-orange) that now made life hard for my Chinese catalpa. I’ve also ripped up some weeds around one of my ginkgos and I realized that I also ripped up a stinging nettle. I now have that burning sensation in my finger on my right hand.
...Lots of water in the creek now, so I would say that what the drought removed when it comes to water the rain now has given back.
Some of the summer apples are ripe now, I don’t like them especially much unless they are slightly un-ripe because when un-ripe they’re slightly sour. When ripe they are more bland and sort of mealy. I guess they could be great for apple sauce though so perhaps I should pick some for myself, I give away most to my closest neighbors because their oldest daughter really likes apples and especially those. In September I’ll have too many winter apples so I hope they take lots of those as well π
..Snails are now eating my melon vines. I removed this one before it ate those tiny flower buds πI sowed some cone flower seeds just a few days ago and they first one has already germinated π
So tomorrow starts the last week of my summer vacation. I can’t say I don’t like my work place but I desperately wants to win the lottery anyway π π π Just thinking of having to drive to work when the roads are slippery with ice again and most parts of the days will be dark again is depressing π π Ok I’ll start working evenings in September so I will actually see daylight but still I really don’t look forward to winter again.
The Catalpa doesn’t stand a chance if I don’t do something about those lilacs and the mock-orange.This is the result. I’ll leave the branches where they are and later on I’ll drive over them with the mower. Finally buds on my squash plants. They really didn’t like the heat wave we had but grows better now.The same with the chicory. They do look a lot like dandelions π πThe Catalpa is in bloom but the flowers are hard to find since they all are up at the top of the tree π
Rather nice weather today, mixed cloudy and sunny and I think it reached 20C (68F) when it was as warmest. No rain thankfully, the swedish weather site says lots of rain tomorrow while the Norwegian says almost nothing but both says we’ll have sunshine in the afternoon. I trust the Norwegian more than the Swedish one and I hope it’s right because I am beginning to feel tired of the rain now. Not that I would do anything anyway but it is nice to be able to be outside and enjoy the day.
...
I’ve been busy in between naps today. I’ve mowed the lawn and the grass was so wet that I had to stop and clean it out from the mower all the time. Also the flies were insane so I wore my mosquito hat all the time. I was sure thunder was on the way but so far nothing. I’ve also done some laundry and baked some french rolls.
...
This time I used milk and butter and they do taste delicious but they didn’t rise especially well. I think it’s because I melted the butter and then pour in the milk to the melted butter. Sometimes when one does like that the fat can sort of embrace the yeast so it can’t do its job properly. Still they are rather light anyway and with melted cheese on them they are delicious π
...
Besides that nothing much has happened here and since it has been really quiet in the entire village I doubt that anything happened there either π The last two peach kernels that finally started to germinate are nos showing above the surface in their pots I’ll place them outdoors as soon as they start to grow properly so they at least know that there is an outside world with varying temperatures and humidity. They, like the apricots will later on stay down in my cool cellar and hopefully I won’t kill them during winter π π
...
Have a great day!
The two peaches. They took their time to start their lives π
