I woke up at 6:30 this morning when I heard Nova running down the steps, that’s never a good thing to hear. The old lady prefers to sleep until it’s almost panic to get out to pee πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I really think I rushed down the stairs fast enough but she had already peed in the living room. When she does like this she always do it in the same spot so I know where to clean it up. She has done this her entire life here so it isn’t because she’s sick because of old age. She just likes to sleep for as long as she can and probably think it is my fault for not letting her out when she wants to only because I’m sleeping πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I’ll force her outside late tonight, something I didn’t yesterday because she wa sleeping so nicely and for that I had to pay today πŸ™‚

The weather has been just as boring today as it has been earlier. We didn’t get the fog they said we would but we did get the rain they said we shouldn’t get πŸ™‚ Also I almost saw the sun for several seconds before the gap in the clouds flew elsewhere. Still the morning walk was rather nice, especially since Alma almost behaved today πŸ™‚ She has a high pitched whining that cuts like a knife and today she quieted down pretty early, the pulling the leash idea she has were much less annoying as well. It goes up and down with her behaviour though, some days she’s rather good, other days she’s worse than usual. It can even be worse the second or third walk, one would think that she should calm down when we’re out several times in a day πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I was thinking I would buy myself a terrarium, not to have any reptiles in but the bottom third as an aquarium and the two top thirds for plants. I found one really nice and it does cost a small fortune. The thing is there isn’t ant table that goes with it. I did try to find anything but the tables I did find almost cost half as much as the terrarium and then the small fortune would become a big fortune πŸ™‚ I can’t use any table since it weighs quite a lot. To be honest shouldn’t they also offer some kind of table that fits what they are selling? I became so annoyed that I decided I won’t buy a terrarium πŸ™‚ I will however buy the biggest tin with Quality Street bonbons, almost 3kg (6,6 pound) πŸ™‚

Winter is on its way I’m afraid.

Two peaches, three Guavas and a mango tree. The mango tree still looks fine, better than any of the old ones that died ever did and it now have two top branches.

The weather is rather meh but it is at least not windy. We can’t expect any nicer weather except for tomorrow when we might get to see some sunshine. Around two hours of it they’re guessing and then it’ll turn to meh again and on Sunday it will start to snow. Apparently we’ll also get lots of rain in it and mostly it’ll stay just above 0C (32F) but since we’ll get up to almost 8 inches of it it might stay for a while anyway.

The only track we saw today was this kind, we have lots of horses in the village now.

They change how much snow we’ll get every hour or so and they’ve confessed on tv that they actually don’t know how far south the snow will be so they’re just guessing more than normal πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The morning walk was really nice though, since there was no wind. Birds were tweeting, we saw a deer in the distance and Alma almost behaved the entire walk πŸ™‚ Nova however does as she please when we’re walking homewards. Today I wanted to leash her the last three hundred meters (much the same in yards) but she figured out why I called her so she just turned around and walked away even fasterΒ  than before πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I really don’t like planting bulbs or tubers, I can’t say I know why but I just don’t. Still every autumn I do buy bulbs and tubers πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So today I planted 20 wild tulip bulbs, ten Dutch Iris bulbs (close to not being hardy enough but they are beautiful if they survive the winter) and 15 Croci, yellow ones. I planted them at the back of my garden because almost all spring flowering bulbs and tubers in my garden grows in the little space around my cottage and in to the woodland. I thought it could be nice to see something in spring when I look out the kitchen window and door.

Mostly however I’ve felt tired today. I have a cold that won’t break out, instead I’m constantly tired. Of course it’d nice not top be sick with fever but the colds that doesn’t break out are almost more tiresome πŸ™‚ If not for anything else because they tend to stay for longer instead. The last (from what I can see when looking up the tree) walnut is still hanging on but I have now sown the first one I took out. If it germinates it will be slightly hardier than its mother tree and would be more adapted to what the climate is like around here. Now I must say that the tree I have is very well adapted to this area as it is, it has after all survived fifteen years here now (well twelve I had it in the cool cellar its first three winters). So I do hope it’ll start to grow, one way or another I will find a place for it to live either in my garden or close to it πŸ™‚

We had meh weather here this morning. It wasn’t cold but not especially warm either, It was cloudy but it didn’t rain and no gaps in the clouds where the sun had a chance to shine through but it was still kind of nice. Nova wanted to go out to the bog but I thought that we had been there almost too often lately so we walked down to the creek instead. Then she wanted to walk in to the forest there but I managed to persuade her to follow the creek down-stream instead. I was a bit surprised that she wasn’t cranky for the rest of the walk because she usually is when she doesn’t get her way πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We were out to the bog yesterday morning, the hunters weren’t out at all. Yesterday we had a lovely but somewhat chilly day here so it was nice to walk in the forest where the ever lasting wind couldn’t reach us that well. We walked out to the bog and on our way back, Nova walked like always ten meters ahead of the rest of us, suddenly a huge wild hog bor rushed out from the bushes beside the path we were walking on and in the the bushes on the other side πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It happened so fast that neither Nova nor Albin even noticed it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Alma did however and for a couple of minutes she was screaming like obcessed and then suddenly calmed down like nothing had happened πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I think that we might have reached the end of the moose fly season now. Not a single one landed on me or the dogs yesterday or today. The mosquitoes are all gone so it would be nice if we from now on also could be moose fly free as well. Still ticks though but very few, it is getting too chilly for them as well. Wasps however seems to find their way in to my home every day now though. Every now and again a big wasp queen tries to fly through my windows and I have to catch and release them. They do a lot of good by eating flies all summer so if I can save them I’ll do it.

The only orchid I now have has been hanging in the apple tree all summer. I’ve watered it once or twice but that’s it. I brought it in just before the last frost and hung it by my kitchen door. I was looking at it yesterday when I was thinking it perhaps was time to water it again. It did look a bit odd and then I realized that what I looked at was a bunch of flower buds. If I see the signs right there is at least three more bunches on the way. Many months earlier than I though any would show but who cares πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I almost broke the stem when I lowered the pot in to a bucket full with rain water πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I really need to replant is and perhaps divide it in to two or four new plants but when ever I do that to orchids they die, also I have no idea what kind of soil or substrate it should grow in. Well I don’t need to think about that until after the new year has started.

So it’s September and from today I’ll work the evening shift. I’ll work every second Friday but today is not one of those Fridays so I’m starting the evening shift by staying at home and have a long weekend πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I don’t like to have to do this but I do like to have a job and I like the people I’ll start working with. So if I can change my sleeping habits fairly quickly this might be a good thing because I really hate when I leave for work in darkness and it also is dark before I go home again in the afternoon. Something was walking in the field outside the cottage yesterday night. I had let the dogs out for a last time before going to bed and they rushed to the back and started to bark like crazy. I hope my neighbors didn’t sleep because they sure wouldn’t after that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ They’ve removed the lynx safe fence around that field so now it’s just the old one and animals might once again start to walk through the garden at night. Lots of acorns this year.

We actually had quite nice weather here this week, until yesterday when it poured downΒ  most of the day . This morning was rain free but thick clouds covered the sky so it almost felt like the sun had disappeared behind the horizon and that night was on its way. Well now it’s a bit darker and the rain has started to fall. We might get up to 35mm (one and two fifths inches). It all depends on where the heaviest showers will pass.

The bear hunt has started in northern Sweden and at least three people are already injured because the bears attacked them. I don’t know if they want sympathy when talking in the news or to news papers but to be honest, if You actually isn’t knowing how bears react when being hunted, often with dogs chasing them, You really shouldn’t be out there hunting bears. These are often the people who call them selves nature conservationist claiming that they hunt to make sure there aren’t too many herbivores eating too much of the trees and the rest of the vegetation.

Then when nature is coming back and takes care of that problem they go on about those predators taking too many herbivores so there’s nothing left for them to hunt πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I could perhaps respect them if they stopped being such hypocrits. They also hunt foxes because they eat too many fawns but then when they heard that we might have a new predator, the Golden jakal (slightly bigger than the fox and eat much the same things) they started to scream about how it will reduce the ammount of foxes! There is a fun thing about the jackals though, hunters aren’t allowed to hunt them since they naturally have migrated to this country and is natural to Europe. It would have been a different thing if they had escaped from fur farms in Europe and not being a natural habitant in the part of the world.

Loads of water filled cellars everywhere, Roads were closed because they were more like ponds πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ but I didn’t hear anything about boats floating away like they always do during storms πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It was much worse in Norway though, one house was swept away, mud slide all over the southern parts of the country and one smaller dam broke. No wolf following us today but there were signs that wild hogs were close, especially the smell from them, so I talked loudly to the dogs because one really doesn’t want to surprise wild hogs, I rather have wolves following us than having to meet wild hogs or moose because those two are totally unpredictable when they get scared or surprised.

We were caught in a heavy shower this morning and all of us,except for Nova took shelter beneath big trees. I understand why she didn’t want to go there because that was the place most biting flies decided to stay as well πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The weather has really been mixed today. Steady rain in the early morning but after that it has been mixed between heavy showers and sunshine. One minute sunshine and one minute showers just to go back to sunshine again. I’m both taller and much fatter than my neighbor so I didn’t think they would fit me but they are actually perfect πŸ™‚ They didn’t want anything for them, they were on some kind of mega sale so I said I would by them a big melon instead (well I’ll buy three different but they don’t know that πŸ™‚ )Their daughter loves fruit and vegetables so melons should be perfect πŸ™‚ It is the same daughter that I can hear on weekend mornings shouting: Yohoo Amma which means she wants Alma to come over πŸ™‚ The girl is very happy today because she now knows I’ll be at home for four weeks and that Alma then can come over all day if she wants to πŸ™‚

I’ve worked with my little hand held chain saw πŸ™‚

Just after I went upstairs to the computer Albin barked by the entrance door and then ran up to me. A little while after I heard something hitting or something lie that the kitchen door. I do hope it is the neighbors cats jumping after moths πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Could be a fox too but I haven’t seen any in quite some time.

I didn’t win the one billion one hundred and ninety five million kronor jackpot on the lottery last Friday so I’m aiming on the one billion two hundred and ninety five million kronor jackpot tomorrow πŸ™‚ Since I’ve promised that if I win that much I would give everyone at work (those working at the factory floor, not the ones with their own offices) a lot of money I’ve realized that I most likely would have to move from here. It would be impossible to not be known as the rich one. The risk of waking up one day looking straight in to the face of someone wanting my money would be rather big since no one would know what would be going on in a little cottage at the outskirts of the world πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I thin it would be better to just win the one hundred and fifty million kronor jackpot in the other big lottery we’re having because I’ve never promised them anything if I would win that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ (divide with twelve and You’ll have the $ US)

My cabbage never grew to anything more than this πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The red leafs behind it is red leafed chard.

Nothing much has happened here besides we’re now back to standard time again. So naturally I woke up when it was supposed to be 4:40 am but in the real it was 3:30 am. We are supposed to get rid of this time changing but the pandemic delayed it all, most governments were more occupied by other things that to write down their approval on that change. I When they finally do they will have to decide if we’ll keep the standard time or change to summer time all year round and sine we all know how politicians are this can take a decade or two before they can decide that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The Corona virus has hit my work place so several people are at home right now. I do have a sour throat but that could just as well be a common cold. Well as long as I don’t have any fever I’ll go to work. It is time for a cup of warm cocoa and a couple of digestives πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Sound travels well in sandy soil.

I’ve done all my chores early today and to be honest there weren’t that many to do. The laundry, dinner for next week and dinner for today. We had pancakes today and we also had pancakes yesterday πŸ™‚ The dogs get one each and I’ll have as many I can get out from the batter πŸ™‚

Most of yesterday morning and also this morning rained away, I didn’t mind really because today the hunters were out hunting so we couldn’t do much anyway and yesterday the afternoon was quite nice even though there was no sign of the sun. It’ll be much the same the coming week, rain in the beginning of the week but just grey and dull for the rest of it.

No one won the big lottery last week so now one person can win one billion Swedish kronor on Tuesday (that would be something around, depending on the value of the US dollar,$ 90- 100 million US. That’s so much money that I can’t understand it but I’m willing to win it just to try and actually understand how much it is πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I didn’t win the jackpot but I did get back twice to what I payed so that’s always nice. I know of only two universal truths, one is that anything that lives will die and the second one is that I’ll never be happy with how much I’ll win on the lottery πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ but I am willing to be proven wrong in that latter one πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I checked the place where Alma had escaped the dog yard and she had already started to work hard on that place again, so I have now strengthened that area so that it at least will take a day or so before she can do a real try to get out again. I will also buy more toys and put in the dog house. The problem is that either one or all of them do their best to hide the things from the other dogs. A bit annoying to be honest. I’m sometimes lucky to find one toy because the one responsible for digging it down did a lousy job not covering it properly πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

My neighbor is out chopping fire wood. For some reason sandy ground lead the sound really well so I can hear it here in my cottage, the sound when the chopped logs fall to the wooden floor in their wood shed sounds really strange. At first it sounded as if someone fired away fireworks πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ For a while I did wonder if the Russians possibly could attack us so I went downstairs and opened the door and that’s when I realized he was chopping fire wood πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I can also hear when they use a hammer in their cellar, it’s really odd πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It would be nice to take a nap but I’m pretty sure that if I do I won’t be able to fall asleep tonight. Then again I know I’ll most likely fall asleep in front of the tv tonight so perhaps I just as well should take a nap πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Slow days stuns the brain.

All photos comes from the folder “For a rainy day”, today was too grey and dull to take any photos. This photo comes from my old Flexaret III camera.

So yesterday while I was working I suddenly got a phone cal from my neighbor and I thought that can’t be a good thing. Either my cottage is burning down or Alma has escaped from the dog yard again. Thankfully it was the latter one πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I had to drive home to fix the place where she had escaped from. The weather was really nice, sunshine, no wind and therefore rather warm.

I’m so glad that Albin actually is a really obedient dog that knows he isn’t allowed to leave the dog yard when I’m not at home because it would have been much harder to find him if he had seen anything moving because he had run after it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’m never worried about Nova πŸ™‚ Alma spent most of the time with my neighbors and I’m so glad they really love her. Alma is now really good friends with their three year old daughter. They even filmed Almas visit to them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I did go back to work for almost an hour before it was time to go back home again and everyone at work found it hilarious πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It was a bit slow at work today (no phone calls from my neighbors thankfully). I had plenty to do but time passed so slowly. Days like that sort of stuns the brain so when I went to the grocery store after work I wanted to renew my lottery tickets. Nothing strange but today I really couldn’t get it right. Here when we’re playing the lottery or any other thing like that we must get our identity card or drivers license registred in the machine. I really wanted to give her my license but instead tried with my bank card πŸ™‚ When I finally got it right I thought I just as well renew it for two more times but forgot to say that, so when I was about to pay I thought that it was way too cheap. So we had to re do it again and behind me the queue grew large.

I had a written note with me so I knew exactly what I wanted to buy today and it wasn’t until I had paid that I realized that I had forgotten to buy anything for dinner at work next week, so back in to the store and find something. I was lucky though because some kids were stopping most people to get to the till so I could sort of go around them all and get first in line again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It was really nice to come home and to see that all the dogs were where they were supposed to be πŸ™‚ I let the dogs run around in the garden but thought I saw how Alma jumped over the fence to the neighbors again. So I shouted out her name and it turns out that she was at the opposite side of the garden. I thought it must have been a cat or a big bird going that way instead so I said to her that she was a good bird πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It took a couple of time before I managed to say good girl πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We have an Englishman working at the factory now days, he works the evening shift but we do meet for a couple of hours every day. He has lived in Sweden for around 18 years but he has a little problem, when ever someone understands he’s from England they automatically starts to talk English to him πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ He thinks he’s bad in swedish though so we (are of course no better) all talk english with him πŸ™‚ He sked me where I got my accent from because it does sound as if I’ve lived in England. He knows that I’ve just passed by as best, so I told him that when I lived in Gothenburg we had cable tv and the only channel I watched back then was a channel called BBC Prime. I must have worked all evenings or nights then because I watched Good Morning Britain every day.

I realized that I didn’t speak english as they did on tv so I started to repeat more or less every word they said until I came close enough to how they sounded. I call it BBC english πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I can only than the two who hosted good morning britain, Ms Anne Diamond and Nick Owen for how I speak english πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ He laughed out loud and says it sounds posh and I think that is the only thing posh about me πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!
