Category: Mist.

The next project.

My entire body hurts πŸ™‚ and I know it will be even worse tomorrow πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I started another project yesterday, to finally start building that greenhouse I bought three? years ago. I must admit that the instructions were pretty good but the markings on the parts was so so to be honest. I also noticed that the closer to the end the descriptions became less good, like the one who did them sort of felt bored and that gave me some problems at the end.

So the only thing I had to do today was the roof with the ventilation window. The only parts that actually were missing was the parts to the handle of the ventilation window πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well I can solve that later and it will work well anyway. I really can’t call the company to complain and to get those parts since it has gone three years and I can’t even remember who I bought it from, it’s a long time since they gave up sending me ads on things they sell πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Anyhow everything went well until I was going to put the door together and then hang it up. This is when the bored designer of this green house really messed it up because it is amazing in how many ways one can attach hinges and not make it work πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ That door took several hours to put together, mostly because the one had forgotten to show how many screws one had to pre assemble before it was time to put the door together πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Also there’s magnet to keep the door closed and no matter how I put it one it couldn’t reach any metal but that’s why one always have a just enough big beak pliers close nearby πŸ™‚ Also, and here’s the second thing that drove me nuts, the pre assembled screws. Turns out they had shown the wrong numbers of how many and on what side of the door they should be, so at the moment the door has no handle. I refuse to take the door apart again so I need to figure out another way that makes it possible to move those screws around to the right side again. All in all it worked pretty good despite missing parts and screws on the wrong side of the door and now it stands there. All I have left, besides the screws, is to put up plastic protections on the corners because those are sharp and then figure out how to secure the greenhouse to the ground. I do have storm wires as well just in case the wind blows from the wrong direction.

WE had morning mist here today and I rushed outside as soon as I could to get some nice photos and of course let the dogs have a walk πŸ™‚ It’s amazing how fast it can vanish when the sun rise in the morning. I had brought my old Hasselblad camera because it’s really good on capturing morning mist and we even walked up to the mailbox just to get some nice photos. Just as I had I turned around and all mist was gone! So when we passed the cottage again I left the camera and we continued in to the forest. Turns out the mist was hiding in there instead πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well I can always hope for more mist but it looks like we’ll have cloudy days ahead of us with minimal chance to get it any time soon.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and today I’m having Lady Grey. A really nice tea and a change from the Earl Grey I usually have. I have no ice cream or cookies and I’m not hungry enough for a sandwich so I guess I’ll just have the tea. It is time to move down the stairs and it hurts just to think about it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

I forgot to eat while building the greenhouse yesterday but realised I had to stop when my entire body started to shake πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Today the dogs made sure to go indoors to have something to eat πŸ™‚

Finally lots of rain (but still not enough :-) ).

They finally got it right, we have rain. Most of the time it’s nice summer rain but every now and again heavy showers and we’ve even had thunder passing to the west of us. I’m so annoyed that I haven’t found the jigsaw because if I had I now would have had three full water barrels, all containing around 300 litres (79,3 gallon US) each. They’re guessing we’ll have rain all weekend so if I just find it I’ll be able to open up the third barrel that’s just waiting to be opened up.

From the window beside the computer upstairs.

The morning walk was quite different though, slightly cloudy but with huge gaps between the cloud masses and enough cool top have morning mist, something I really like to see. t was more or less vanishing by the time we went out but there were places it still lingered. Jays were arguing loudly but besides them it was quite quiet. Alma and Malkolm behaved so well and it was cool enough to keep even the moose flies calm. So far I haven’t seen many of the moose flies and I do hope the drought has killed most of them.

We woke up rather early, even for me, at 4 am so I opened the door for the dogs so they could do their business. Well that didn’t happen because Alma found some animal in the garden and started to bark like insane. It was so dark that I couldn’t see anything but I’m pretty sure it was the badger again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It has now dug a hole beneath the fence to my neighbours, I found it yesterday. She (I think it’s a she because of the size) hadn’t been able to get in to my garden for a while, instead she has dug her small holes in the ground around my garden just beside the fence. It does seem I have lots of things she likes to eat here, frogs, slugs and snails (and fallen apples on the ground) so she decided it is worth the risk of meeting fierce Alma πŸ™‚ Malkolm was smart enough to stay by my side instead of joining her πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So I think it might be time to put up that wildlife camera again. I hope the batteries still work because I really don’t want to have to drive away just to get batteries. If it catches any nightly visitors I’ll of course show them here. I know the fox tends to visit us as well and lots of cats of course πŸ™‚

It is time to have that last cup of tea for the day, after that I don’t know what to do. I actually have lots of things I can do but for some reason I don’t want to do them and I don’t mean chores but old hobbies I used to have. I guess I still have those hobbies but at the moment I just can’t get myself to start with any of them πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Misty rain and meh fog here in the village today. The fog was much thicker outside the village and all the way to the grocery store in the village where I used to work. I still go to that store every now and again because that’s where I started to buy my groceries when I moved up to this region over 27 years ago. It’s as if I know them all by now even though I’ve seen plenty of the workers come and go during the years πŸ™‚

This is an old fox trap and it has been standing here since long before I moved to the village. No it didn’t kill the animal, they used it for trapping foxes to see if they were healthy. Fox scabies (a sort of mange) is a horrible way for a fox to die, they scratch themselves to death more or less. So if the fox was hit by it they ended its life so it wouldn’t have to suffer if it wasn’t they let it loose again. It did however not only trap foxes, my dogs were in it so many times that they finally stopped using it because it needed to be replaced (it’s rotten since long) πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ They put all kinds of goodies in it and of course my dogs went in and got trapped πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ This was back in the days when I had dogs that actually listened to what I told them πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β

There was almost no traffic either way so I could drive in the speed I like and that’s usually slow πŸ™‚ On the way home I listened to a radio program about language and our dialects and the difference between them. It was rather fun to hear words in different dialects and how I actually understood lots of the words from southern Sweden, I don’t use them but heard many of them growing up because my grandparents came from the south and used them all the time πŸ™‚ They didn’t have much of the dialect left but all the words πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

Winter is on its way says our weather services. We’ll have a couple of days with warm air and rain left, then it’ll turn and the temperatures will drop and the rain turn to snow, can’t pretend I like that even though it does look nice in photos when there’s 20 cm (8 inches) of snow covering the world. The only good thing is that I at least won’t have to drive around in it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I also have very little snow to shovel because the gate to the garden is just 4 meters away from my door, I only have to shovel some around the car as well and the rest the guy shovel the roads will take care of πŸ™‚ Plus it will be easier to see if wolves are around, always good to know for us with animals.

Β  Β  Β

Sara the monster kitten is now in to destroy all my orchids πŸ™‚ Those that look like grass when they don’t flower. She likes to play with the leafs and when she does get a grip on them she tears them down on the floor πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ She also attacks the dogs all the time, not that they care especially much but one day her claws and teeth will reach the skin and then they might πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ On the other hand Malkolm plays rather tough when he plays with her so I guess it evens out πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I’ll continue to read the book I started on but every time I sit down to read both Alma and Malkolm wants my attention so it’s going slow but forward πŸ™‚ I wish You all a good continuing of Yule!

Β  Β  Β

Have a great day!

They moved the cattle.

You know that when it looks like this on the ground just after the sun has disappeared that it most likely will be misty the next morning.

Morning mist, then sunshine quickly vaporize it for thick fog to roll in and stay for quite some time just to be replaced by warmish weather and lots of sunshine. I was surprised when the thick fog came because the air had become rather warm by then. It did roll in from the bog though so I guess it must have been cold out there. I liked it though and we did have plenty of time in the garden when the sun finally won that battle.

Β  Β  Β

WE walked in the village this morning and for once Alma seemed pretty calm, yes she did whine and shout some in the beginning but then seemed to get bored doing it πŸ™‚ Then suddenly all the cattle started to bellow and really loudly plus I heard what I thought was a car honking the horn and then a few more but could not figure out what was happening. Turns out it wasn’t cars but four wheelers and they were moving the cattle from the big pasture to their winter pasture. We met them just as they were going from the big one over our gravel road to the winter one.

Β  Β  Β

I really can’t be angry that Alma started with all her sounds even louder and I can’t be angry that she had problems calming down after they had passed either but that dog can be really loud πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I think that I from now on can have walks in the big pasture from now on. It’s actually several pastures combined to one big, so they can make it bigger or smaller depending on what they need to do. It’s hard to believe but our walks can be as long as 10 km (6,2 miles) and I still would be able to see the village the entire time, well the few homes there is here anyway.

Β  Β  Β

If I can figure out if they moved the entire heard we might have a walk there already tomorrow, would be great because then we wouldn’t have to pass all the dogs being outside barking when we pass them and then Alma would be much calmer, at least as long no lorries pass on the big road beside the pasture. Big road is a bit much to call it but they do drive lorries there quite often. The drivers use it as a short cut to towns and cities further south and I can tell You that it isn’t fun to meet a timber lorry in high speed on that winding road because they almost always use a big part of the meeting lane as well when the road turns.

Β  Β  Β

Two dogs are sleeping in my bedroom, one in the basket, I can’t see who because it’s dark in there now but my guess is that it is Alma and Malkolm is in the bed, probably with Sara the cat. Alma isn’t too happy about the cat since she keeps her awake most f the night πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Malkolm just ignores here and then the cat walks over to Nova to sleep beside her for the rest of the night πŸ™‚ Nova is too old to be bothered by anything now days πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

I think it is time for a last cup of tea for the day. I bought a jar of pickled cucumbers yesterday and I do like that but I’m not hungry but still want some cucumber so I think I’ll have a hard bread sandwich so I don’t eat it straight out of the jar πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

Have a great day!

Β  Β  Β

Coughing and sneezing.

So it isn’t the three or four day cold I’m having, it’s the sneezing coughing all night cold I have πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ No fever though so I guess I’ll survive it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

I’m so glad I turned on the radiator in the kitchen last night. The heat goes straight up to the upper floor and in to my bedroom. I do like a cool bedroom but ice cold is a bit too much for me πŸ™‚ It took a while though but until it became warmer I had Alma as a living radiator sleeping beside me, she kept on sleeping all nigh at the same spot so I must admit that even though I was grateful for the help when it was cold it did become a bit too warm in the end πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

The outside thermometer said 1C (33,8F) as coldest and I think it must have been right because the vegetation weren’t covered in ice but the cars had more ice on them than yesterday morning. We also had lots of morning mist so we had our walk in the village. We met a villager, a woman who always are out running. At first I thought she just was one of those people who are obcessed with running because one can see her far from the village at any time of the 24 hours a day contains.

Β  Β  Β

Anyhow, turns out that she is competing in long distance team running πŸ™‚ I had heard she was attacked by a dog, a well know aggressiveΒ  dog, that the owners had in the garden that simply jumped over the fence and attacked her. So since Alma and Malkolm jump over jump over the fence too play with my neighbors kids I stopped her (since we were just beside her home) and asked her if she wanted to greet my dogs so she knows what she meets. So she said that Alma had met her several times so she wasn’t worried about her but she wasn’t sure about Nova and Malkolm πŸ™‚ Malkolm was so polite that he didn’t even try to reach her head when they greeted and I said Nova is 18 and You’ve met her several times so she’s so well behaved that she never is noticed when she’s around πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

I think it is time to have some tea and a table spoon with honey. Never heat up honey because the good enzymes and bacteria in it dies when it is too hot, lukewarm is enough. If You kill them the honey will only become very expensive sugar. So I usually have a spoon of honey either before or after having the tea.

Β  Β  Β

Have a great day!

I doubt that this Red Mulberry will ripen even though I plan to bring this little tree down to the cool cellar. I don’t want to bring in the little tree until it lost its leafs.

I slept away an entire day.

I normally don’t have fog coming in to the garden unless it is pea soup fog and it was that today.

I think we all now are getting rid of our ailments. The dogs stomachs are much better and I finally woke up without a sour throat. I was really tired yesterday so both the dogs and I slept almost all day. The morning was quite nice and cool with some sunshine so we could have a nice walk before the rain and thunder arrived. I’m not sure for how long I slept but it was several hours and I woke up an hour before my usual bedtime and went to bed again and slept the entire night πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I think the dogs slept the entire time as well but My sleep was so deep that I didn’t hear the thunder at all so they could have had a party while I was in the land of dreams πŸ™‚

Most of it was gone before we went out though.

Β  Β

I was oddly enough really tired when I woke up this morning so I didn’t have the energy to go out with the dogs while we had a really nice and thick fog, we even had fog in the garden. We’ve only had one short nap after that and I woke up to heavy showers and thunder. As I woke up I remembered that the kitchen door was open so I had to dry the floor from the little lake that had formed in the kitchen πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β

Still some visible water in the tarn but it is a deep hole so the grass is actually growing on roots coming from the vegetation around it.

The morning wasn’t especially cool when we finally went out for our walk so the flies were quite happy to greet us in the forest. To be honest there weren’t that many out there but the ones that were annoyed us enough. There’s unusually few flies flying around this summer, not that I mind but we do need these flies so the birds will have enough with food to raise their young ones. I remember not to long ago when one had to stop at petrol stations because the windshields were just disgusting covered with dead flies, so far this year I’ve had one fly crashing in to the windshield. It is nice to have clean windows on the car but something are clearly wrong out in nature now days. To be honest though, I have so many in my garden that it might be that they all have moved here πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Β  Β

I drove to the big grocery store in FalkΓΆping this morning. I don’t live in a tourist area so there weren’t many cars on the road. I bought what I had forgotten to write down on my list last Tuesday πŸ™‚ and then some πŸ™‚ I tried some new gluten free cookies they had gotten and I must say they were for once really yummy. If it is something I’ve learned since I got to know I can’t eat gluten is that most baked things taste like shit so even though I was hesitant I bought two different cookies and to my really big surprise they didn’t taste disgusting πŸ™‚ I’ll see if they can get them in my usual grocery store because what they have are abominations to mankind πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

My first hazelnuts πŸ™‚
My Himalayan Cedar looks great.
My Gardenias seems to like staying outside and this is the first flower to open up.
The perennial sunflowers are early this year.

They are guessing that we won’t have any rain tomorrow and 20C (68F). No sunshine though but they said that about today as well and we had plenty of it in between showers. They’re also guessing that the three days after that will give plenty of rain but mostly after noon each day so we’ll be able to have our morning walks without getting soaked. Well the grass will be dripping of both rain and dew so my feet and Malkolm will be really wet. Malkolm won’t mind though and Nova will walk after both him and me so she’ll mostly be rather dry when we come home.

Β  Β  Β

It is time to go downstairs and watch the English Antique Roadshow. There’s always someone there who had an old aunt that was a Russian grand duchess or similar and they always pretend that they are so surprised when the jewelry they brought are worth a small fortune πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Ours is so much more dull when it comes to that and sometimes the owner of the object tells from the beginning they already know the value of what they’ve brought. To be honest if I had something worth loads of money I wouldn’t want the world to know, it would be just like asking to be robbed one day πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

A cat from the farm was visiting the Beekeepers so I guess both Sally and Salmiak were indoors πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Not the nicest of weather but it is at least not cold :-)

It isn’t the nicest of weather but it is warmish and most of the day not especially windy. The wind comes and goes and in between it’s quite calm. It’s mostly slightly misty or misty rain but every now and again rain has passed by and we haven’t even been close to sunshine. They said it would be well over 10C (50F) tomorrow but suddenly it has dropped to around 5C (41F), I don’t mind as long as it doesn’t drop down below 0C (32F).

Β  Β  Β

I did hear some cranes last weekend but none after that, lots of geese and swans though but no cranes. I can hear lots of owls at nights too and every now and again foxes scream, I won’t call it barking because it sounds more like a scream πŸ™‚ Meteorologically (when the temperature is above 0C (32F) all the time for seven days in a row) it’s for once spring at the same time we normally call this spring. It’s usually not the case up here in the north where winter, at least back in the days, could last until the end of April. I don’t miss those days at all πŸ™‚

Β  Β  Β

Lots of birds are not only tweeting but singing spring songs as well here now and today I saw the first Lapwings in the fields πŸ™‚ I only saw two here last spring and after that they vanished, it used to be loads here all summer long but something has happened, no one at work saw any after last spring either. I do hope that it just was a temporary dip in their population. We’ll have fewer birds around here this spring because they have thinned out parts of the forest, both big pines and spruces but mostly all the under vegetation that is so important for all the other animals, You know the ones that would have taken care of all the pests that now will have a free entry to attack anything that’s left, like the bark beetle that kills spruces. Why do they never learn?

Β  Β  Β

Tonight it’s the fourth semi final in the Swedish parts of the European Song Contest. I must say that I’ve never heard this much crap in my life before πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It’s so obvious what songs they want to go to the final because the rest are so bad that it’s cringy πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ One of the singers wants to stay anonymous because she normally sing quite dirty texts and she calls herself FrΓΆken snusk (Miss Filth). Well since this is mostly a family show she actually for once had a song that wasn’t directly filthy πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β  Tonight we’ll have Norwegian twins (around 18-19 years old) competing and even though it isn’t what I would listen to I still know it will be something good, they would never risk their reputation with something crappyΒ  πŸ™‚

Β  Β Β

Besides this very little has happened here at home. Times are tough at work though, two more has been given notice about losing their jobs (it’s worse in the neighbor factories though). Over here no one is fired on the spot, we have at least one months notice and people like me who have worked in the same place for over ten years have six months before losing the job, so much can still happen for those having to leave in two months. The inflation is finally under control and they say the interest rate will start to drop down as well and when that happens people will start to buy things again πŸ™‚

The night shift works late some days.

The morning shift is just around to take over πŸ™‚Β

It is time to prepare for the show and hope that at least the Norwegian twins has a good song πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!
