Category: Hot.

Last day with hot weather.

I haven’t done much today to be honest, we had our morning walk and it was just slightly warmer than yesterday morning. That changed during the day though and it became so warm that the dogs preferred to stay indoors.

That will all change tomorrow though when the temperatures will stay below 20C (68F) and after that they’re guessing it only will reach 13 C (55,4 F) for two days but after that the temperatures will slowly, slowly rise again. Arctic winds will reach us for a while. They also guess we’ll have some rain but it’s hard to believe them when they’ve gotten it so wrong all summer long 🙂 🙂 The only rather boring thing is that when the rain finally starts to fall it usually continues for weeks.

Filled in a job application this morning, a staffing company is looking for a painter (well could be more than one but it didn’t say anything about that in the ad). Guess if I was surprised when they called me around noon to ask if I could come to an interview tomorrow afternoon. It did surprise me a lot, usually it takes at least a week before they check if anyone applied for a job 🙂 I don’t know what company it is that will hire a painter and I have no idea if it will be me they hire but it do feel good 🙂

Besides that the only thing I’ve done is to water the garden and done some shopping in the supermarket. I actually never wrote a list but it looks like I’ve got everything I wanted 🙂 That’s unusual even when I have written a list of what I want 🙂 🙂 I’ve only had one cup of tea today because I bought some coffee in the supermarket and I can’t drink coffee after 4 pm so I’ve already had it 🙂 I’m also out of bread so I might have to bake now or just be happy having a bowl with cornflakes 🙂

Most of the horses have already moved to another stable.

Have a great day!

Potato tomatoes :-)

We’ve had all kinds of weather today, cool and cloudy morning, sunny and hot on and off during the day and even some rain plus thunder passing by both south and north of the village. not even close to what they had guessed when it comes to the rain but they did actually tell us not to trust that part of their guessing since one never knows where the showers would end up falling.

I haven’t done much today except for watering the plants outside and put the two Pawpaw seedlings I found in the cool cellar outside. A good day to do that since the sun now mostly has been covered by clouds. If You want to put potted plants or any plant that hasn’t met sunshine yet never put it in directly sunlight because it will burn just like us when we stay in the sunshine without any protection. Let it stay in the shadows for a week. That is still a bit problematic here since there at the moment only one spot around the cottage that won’t get hit by the sun some time of the day. The one place I do have also have most of the slugs that still is alive in this drought so that’s not a good idea 🙂 🙂 🙂

It is so dry here now that the little rain we’ve had only helps the grass to stay green but not grow 🙂 There’s always an upside to everything 🙂 🙂 🙂 I’ve bought both vegetable seeds and flower seeds on sale now because I have no idea what kind of economy I’ll have next year. They were on sale because they are soon to expire date wise. Seeds usually are viable many years after the date that’s printed on them and these costed half of what the other companies sell their seeds for during sales so I thought it best to buy while I know I can. I think however I need to make my little vegetable patch bigger and perhaps try to revive one or two of the old flowerbeds 🙂 🙂 I’ll also empty a big wooden box I now mostly use as a huge trashcan, fill it with soil and compost and grow vegetables in that one too.

Two male Bullfinches. The two females hid in the vegetation beside the road.

I’ve found some, what some call, a few potatoes tomatoes 🙂 (very poisonous so don’t try and eat them). Most modern varieties of potatoes don’t give seeds, they’ve managed to select that part away somehow. Good thing they have to be honest because if those seeds germinate and one of them aren’t resistant towards the potato wart disease, or black scab, one is in big trouble. Over here one need to report it to the authorities and after that one can’t grow potatoes in that soul or even nearby for well over twenty years. One can however sow them in a bucket. One can get the most odd varieties, some blue or red and I’ve read about a man who got one big black potato. If they would get the disease one can just seal the bucket and let the authorities destroy the soil.

The Monsterkitten found something really interesting today.

Even Malkolm came to inspect what it was.
Turns out it was a frog who now lives safe from the cat 🙂

I’ve tried a few times to sow those seeds but it is really hard to know when they are ripe because the fruits stays green and if they fall to the ground it’s hard to find them. Also never have potatoes and tomatoes close to each other, they are so closely related thatchy give and take different diseases from each other. The sun is shining outside right now at the same time we’re having a light rain. We used to say that if the sun shone and the rain fell we would have rain the day after. Never checked if that’s true though 🙂

ow I have five smaller Pawpaws. Have no idea what I’ll do with them during winter

I now have five smaller Pawpaws and have no idea what I’ll do with them during winter since mice seems to love eating them.

I can try to let them stay outside beside the two bigger ones I already have in the garden. Lots of cover to protect them from the unpredictable winters we nowadays have.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and then check what’s on tv. Probably re-runs on every channel I’m afraid.

Have You ever tried to eat the fruits from the Fuchsia? They are edible and most of them taste a bit like blueberries. I ate this one a bit too early so it was a bit watery.
Potato tomatoes 🙂

Have a great day!

It missed us totally.

A Nanking cherry soon to be ripe, I do hope I’ll get it instead of the birds 🙂

We were supposed to have lots of raining thunder today and there was lots of it but not in my village. It passed to the north and south but here the sun shone and it reached 28C (82,4F). I was hoping for the rain so I am a bit disappointed to be honest. I had planned on mowing the lawn today but since the thunder thundered nearby I never started 🙂 🙂 So that’s a funny chore I’ll have to do tomorrow or on Sunday instead but it will new a bit cooler instead so I’m not complaining too much 🙂

Nothing much has happened here lately but the monsterkitten came in one morning sort of looking defeated, only went to the water bowl and then upstairs falling asleep in old Nova’s favourite spot. The dogs and I had heard some cats fighting the evening before so I thought that perhaps that’s why she behaved like she did but there’s not a single scratch on her but then again fleeing from an attacker would be very stressful as well. Today she was back to her normal self again so it seems there’s nothing to worry about but I’ll keep my eye on her.

The rest of the photos shows what I can see sitting on my kitchen stairs.

There is this new cat the newest neighbours brought home and it has been terrorising the neighbours next door for a while now. Alma and Malkolm don’t like it but it is big and scary so they growl at it but won’t go close. So now I’ll be prepared with a bucket of water if it should feel to come to my home, perhaps even buy one of those strong water pistols so it knows who rules in this garden.

Normally it’s time for that last cup of tea for the day but it’s just too hot, both outdoors and indoors. I’ve bought some Elderflower Ade so that and some ice will be perfect instead and why now have Alice or two of the bread I baked the other day 🙂

Have a great day!

Just as hot today but with a cool wind blowing.

I can hear thunder in the distance but I’m not sure if it will come our way or not. I wouldn’t mind if it did. It’s just as hot here today as it was yesterday and the dogs only wants to stay outside for short moments before they give up. Today my neighbours little dog decided to take a walk by himself so I was about to go out and help searching for him but just as I was on my way out a villager had found him and called my neighbours 🙂 He had just walked the same way they always walk in the village 🙂 🙂

We were out on our morning walk the same time as we were yesterday and it was slightly cooler today, still no flies oddly enough. I don’t miss them but they are important for all the birds so I do wonder what has happened to them. I wish this was a sign of the coming maps fly season but I’m pretty sure those nasties will be as many or more than usual 🙂 🙂 🙂 It was so cool and nice but like yesterday the heat arrived before we reached the cottage, the difference today is that a cool but weak wind is blowing and it helps a lot. Even if the ground still is slightly wet after the thunder day I still watered the plants I planted this spring plus I gave a little extra to those I planted last year.  Almost all plants that were damaged by the last frost now have new leafs, all but one red mulberry tree. It’s alive and well but just refuse to grow new leafs and I have no idea why.

I’ve also started to look at seeds now for next year. Some businesses have already started with the sales but the ones selling the seeds I want haven’t 🙂 They might be offering free shipment but that isn’t much. Then again if I wait for too long the seeds I want might be sold out before I can order them 🙂 Damned if I do, damned if I don’t situation 🙂 🙂 🙂 I also picked up my first potatoes today, quite a few but mostly small, those are on the other hand the best and I like frying them hole. I had some for dinner today and the rest for dinner at work during next week.

So I’ve done the dinners and also the laundry, like always but I really should have vacuumed upstairs as well but it is so hot now that I really need to put a limit to how much I should do in the heat so I skipped the vacuuming 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

The younglings have left the nest. I hope the doves comes back again next spring.

This time it worked.

It was much cooler this morning when we woke up, so we had our breakfast and at 6 am we went out for our morning walk. I wore a hoodie again because flies usually fly around even in the early morning if it isn’t 10C (50F) or cooler and it wasn’t that cool unfortunately.

We walked down to the creek since the grass now is too high and still wet after the thunderstorm that it has become a tick paradise. I did rub Yarrow all over the dogs, it is said that ticks dislike the smell of yarrow, just to at least improve the odds 🙂 To my very big surprise we had almost no flies flying around us even though we walked down to their favourite spots at the creek?! I’m not sure where they were but I doubt they will be gone for long, I’m not lucky enough that they’ve all died away 🙂 🙂 plus the birds need them still.

A few birds are still singing here, normally most of them would have stopped by now because it shouldn’t be enough time left to get more babies. Things have changed though and now it’s rather warm way in to November and perhaps some birds have noticed that and try for it one more time. By the way I only found two ticks on Alma after the walk so perhaps the Yarrow really works? It had become pretty warm by the time we arrived at home and it got worse the longer the day passed. We reached 30C (86F) before it finally slowly turned towards cooler. Call it cooler feels like a joke it has only dropped down 1 degree centigrade yet 🙂 🙂 🙂

This is unfortunately one of the few Bluebells that isn’t invasive 🙂

The bread I baked yesterday should have stayed in the machine a bit longer, I guess the cheese in it was a bit too much for the machine, it tasted really good though. So to check if it was the cheese I’ve now baked a loaf again today, the loafs are rather small so I’m not drowning in bread 🙂 🙂 and this time it worked perfect! So if I want cheese in the bread from now on I’ll use a bit less and also let the loaf stay in the machine a bit longer since it takes its time to cool down.

Even though we’ve had a long nap, well all the animals have had several long naps, I feel too tired to do anything so I think I’ll make myself a cup of tea. I doubt it will keep me awake since I’m pretty sure the heat will instead 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

Thunder and lightning.

We had thunder all day yesterday way in to the night and torrential rain as well and I loved it, especially since none of the dogs are afraid of thunder. Instead they insist on going out and only rain can get them to quickly go indoors again 🙂 🙂 The monsterkitten didn’t seem to mind either, she even went outside when it rained 🙂

So yesterday was hot and sticky but today was and still is way worse and we also have sunshine but that actually makes it feel less horrible, it sort of dries out the air so it doesn’t feel like living in a sea, bath 🙂 Still it’s so hot that the dogs gave up on playing after just a few minutes and now they’r sleeping on the floor beside me. It has been horrible at work just because of the heat and we’re all drinking water like we were elephants 🙂 I must say it is an odd workplace in so many ways but they do make sure that we all get as much fluid replacement as we need. It doesn’t matter what taste those pills have they all taste awful but they do help and that’s the important thing.

I have at least three different Bluebells in my garden now.

A primula has decided it’s spring again 🙂 🙂

I now have a memory foam pillow and I slept so well that My neck didn’t hurt this morning. I also got my winter duvet, a warm one according to the seller that specialises in beds and sleeping. Some time after week 32 I’ll get my new mattress pad but yesterday I got something I realised I need. I realised that when I baked bread when it was 27C (80,6F), it isn’t nice to bake bread in that temperature, so I bought a bread baking machine 🙂 I would ahem liked to tell You that the first bread was a totally success but it wasn’t 🙂 🙂

Normally strawberries gives berries in spring, I got a few but that was it. However for some reason I do get berries from now on and until the frost stops them. I have never heard about autumn strawberries but I’m not complaining 🙂

The machine has a gluten free setting so that wasn’t the problem. I need to either use the bigger loaf adjustment or less water because it hadn’t baked properly in the middle. Worked great to toast though. Unfortunately it take much longer to bake it in the machine than if I do it with the old oven, almost twice the time, so I’ll use it on Fridays and the weekend. I’ll let You know how the second loaf turns out as soon as I’ve baked it.

My Chinese Catalpa have buds now. Unfortunately the flowers will be at the top of the tree and they are rather small and yellowish.

Oregano in bloom. If You once plant or sow Oregano You will never be without it 🙂

No tea today, it’s just too hot but thankfully I have water or lots of milk so I’ll have that instead 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

Outside my kitchen window.

We have thunder in the area, not especially close at the moment but one can clearly hear it. The day started sunny and cool though so we were out on our morning walk around 7 am. It was unfortunately not  cool enough to keep the flies calm so we had a black cloud flying around us. I wore a hoodie though so they never got the chance to visit inside my ears and for some reason wearing a hoodie also prevents them from trying to go inside my nostrils as well 🙂 🙂

It didn’t take long before the rain arrived again so we have mostly stayed indoors and went outside when the rain had a temporary stop. So I did the laundry and baked a bread in between 🙂  I also took a long nap in the sofa and this time both dogs decided they should sleep beside me in the sofa 🙂 🙂 🙂 Alma by my feet and Malkolm by my side with half his body over my stomach. I’m surprised that I managed to fall asleep but it could have been the lack of oxygen since it was a bit hard to breathe that was the cause 🙂 🙂 🙂

We did have sunshine for a while but now we’re back to rain and thunder is not far away. It is much warmer than they guessed it would be so I hope the thunder passes by and cool things down a bit. It’s rather quiet in the village, some birds sing and one dog is yapping a lot. Normally that starts most other dogs as well but I guess they don’t have the energy now when it is so warm 🙂 I think someone on my gravel road is trying to repair an old moped because I could hear how they were trying to start it up the road but then just slid down the slope quietly. It has happened several times this week so I guess they aren’t especially successful 🙂

I have the day off tomorrow because I need to go to the bank to see if they can help me renew my digital bank id without me having to get something called an international id card or get a new passport. A new drivers license doesn’t help at all for some reason. So I’ll also buy a couple of big bags with soil and on the way home make a visit to my old workplace and the grocery store in the same village. it will most likely rain anyway so it’ll be a nice little trip to do.

It is time for a pot of tea and perhaps something to eat as well.

Have a great day!

Only took me seven? months to figure out :-)

It’s a Scandinavian hot day today, 27C (80,6F) and I’m not too happy about it. Too warm for a walk, the dogs just ran in to the garden and laid down on the grass when I came home. They tried to play some but gave up 🙂 I covered all windows before I left this morning with the result that it was only 24C (75,2F) indoors. Still pretty warm upstairs so I might spend the night in a sofa in the livxingroom instead.

Tomorrow will be even warmer, possibly 30C (86F) but Thursday it will fall down to just below 20C (68F) and it will also rain quite a lot if they’re guessing it right. This is still nothing compared to how hot it is down in Spain and Portugal, temperatures there reach well over 45C (113F) so I really don’t have a lot to complain about to be honest 🙂 🙂 🙂

I should have mowed the lawn yesterday but it was already warm so I skipped it, so I really should have mowed the lawn today but it was even warmer so no. Tomorrow will be nasty so I won’t even think about it 🙂 🙂 🙂 The good thing is that the dog house is placed on the north side of the wood shed so it was actually quite nice in there, so the dogs were naturally not there but in the garage instead. To be honest even though the old garage is made with tin walls and roof it still is quite cool there during hot days, can’t explain it really because it, by logic, should be hot as h..l in there, plus the dog yard is shadowed most of the afternoon by big trees just outside the fence so it wasn’t too bad there either, it will be tomorrow though.

This Pawpaw is most likely four years od and sown from a seed (bought it so it isn’t any of my seedlings) and it grows much better than

the name variety, just as old and bought at the same time. The name variety is said to have earlier ripening fruits so it should be ahead of the other one.

The White mulberry tree I bought sort of died but now a new shoot comes from the roots. I haven’t seen any place It’s grafted so if I’m lucky it will still give good tasting berries.

It is time for something cool or cold to drink and then maybe some ice cream 🙂 By the way, I couldn’t get any sound coming out of this computer I bought last autumn. I’ve really tried to because it has a camera so why should it not have sound. Turns out on had to go deep in to the settings to start the speakers and now I have it 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

Scandinavian hot today.

Blueberries in bloom.

Scandinavian hot today, 25C (77F), thankfully a wind is blowing to cool it down. Then again warm air dries out the ground even more so it’s sort of a damned if I do damned if I don’t situation for nature. They say we’ll get some more rain tomorrow evening though and the temperatures will drop some as well. The good thing though is that the laundry dried up in less than ten minutes 🙂 🙂

I will be surprised if the peach tree survives next winter, It is hit by leaf curl disease and this time it’s the entire tree. I’ve heard peaches usually can handle it when the tree is older but I’ve had so many peach trees dying because of it so I doubt it.
I’ve tried to remove this rose so many times that even I am beginning to give up now, it’s a garden variety of the Cinnamon rose and happily spreads via its roots.
Soon I’ll have my first strawberry 🙂

I know that for many of You 25C (77F) is like a cool summer morning but up here in the north that used to be as high the temperature rose in summer with, of course, the occasional heatwave passing by a day or two before we had more rain 🙂 🙂 🙂 I can’t remember if it is two or three years ago the temperature never rose above 20C (68F) during the month of July and we had at least some rain every day that month. To be honest I didn’t complain even though I did get bored by it before the vacation was over 🙂 🙂 🙂

The potato sprouts I planted has now grown so high that it was time to fill up the entire bucket with soil. It will now produce potatoes along the stem that was just buried in soil. I doubt there will be many per stalk but they usually grow a bit bigger instead.
Three pots with sown rhubarbs. They are so easy to sow that it would have been surprising if even one seed didn’t germinate. Can’t eat any next year because the plant will need all leafs to grow bigger, but the year after that I can start harvesting 🙂

I’m still rather tired today but I guess it’s the combination of one week with high fever followed by a week with evening shift that sort of takes its toll, plus of course the warm weather itself. I’ve tried to not sit still too much, so I’ve done the laundry, started dinner for next week in the slow cooker and now I’m waiting for a bread to be ready to be taken out of the oven. This time I skipped the cheese but have plenty of rosemary in it. Also today I’m trying Teff flour, a cereal growing mostly in Ethiopia but I’ve heard they now grow it in a lot of places. I have used it once a long time ago but can’t remember how it tasted.

I have lots of the creeping bellflower in my garden, over here seen as one of the worst weeds there is 🙂 They are beautiful though and if too many just eat the roots, works great in a salad like radishes would.

I couldn’t for my life figure out what it was I had sown (name tags of course gone 🙂 ) Then I suddenly remembered it, garden varieties of the purple coneflower 🙂
This is truly surprising! Do You remember me telling You about mice chopping off both Giant sequoia seedlings and my Pawpaw seedlings? All looked dead to me but I saved them just in case it would produce new branches. I’ve mostly neglected this one but watered it every now and again. To my very big surprise this morning I noticed that it actually is alive and is producing new branches again 🙂 🙂 🙂 I will take very good care of it from now on 🙂

Not even the dogs are especially active today, they’ve played some but mostly they’ve been napping. I’ve always wondered how thick furred dogs can survive in a warmer climate than what it is here, most of them are knocked out already in our temperatures. We now have loads of insects here but surprisingly few biting ones, that may change quickly now if we actually get the rain that se we’ll get. Not many butterflies though but plenty of different bees and at the moment they are all visiting my wild roses 🙂

Magpies, beautiful, smart, funny and probably one of the most annoying birds there is 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a great day!

Traditions and folklore.

Sand cherries, so tasty but it’s hard to get any because of the birds 🙂

So yesterday was midsummers eve and that’s a big day here, treated like a holiday even though it’s midsummers day that is the holiday. Still very few work on midsummers eve and most of us is payed as if it was a holiday. Also the last holiday here until Christmas.

Mock orange.

The potatoes grow well now.
Eastern redbud. Doesn’t like it here at all.

Back in the days everyone danced around the midsummer pole and many still do but mostly because of the children. We dance around it while singing almost the same songs we do when dancing around the Christmas tree, like the little frogs, the priests little crow and Anders Persons house is on fire (he has actually existed and is said to have been a truly nasty person and no one was sad seeing his house burning down). The history of the midsummer pole is and has been under debate a very long time but I think it used to be a German tradition.

If You want something that spreads happily, smells rather strange and will flower until frost comes the Nepeta sibirica should be You choice 🙂 🙂

After dancing around people went home to have the traditional lunch/dinner. We swedes aren’t that uneventful when it comes to the food so it is more or less the same as what we eat all other holidays 🙂 🙂 You can’t celebrate midsummer without freshly boiled new potatoes and they should be boiled together with lots and lots of dill. Five gazillions of different pickled herring and either pickled or smoked salmon. For us that can’t stand the herring (and we are really few people) there’s always meatballs, a couple of different sausages, oven omelet with mushroom stew and perhaps some chicken as well. Naturally we also have different kinds of hard bread and normal bread plus different kinds of cheese, both the regular one and blue cheese and brie/ camembert. What never is missing is the cream-layer cake with Swedish strawberries. If You would happen to have strawberries from another country (mostly because the Swedish ones are nasty expensive) You will be seen as a person with little or no value to mankind 🙂 🙂 🙂

When the evening comes the old folklore comes to live. So if You are young and not married yet You can actually learn to whom You one day will be married to. This must be done while being totally quiet of course. You’ll have to take a walk in nature and, depending on from where You come, either climb over seven or nine walls/ fences and at each fence You need to pick a flower and of course it needs to be different flowers all the time. When the walk is done You’ll have to go to bed, putting the flowers under Your pillow and go to sleep so it is best to be one of those that actually remember Your dreams 🙂 🙂

My citrus trees was damaged pretty bad during the last frost but now they show new growth again.

The beings are also very active that night so never go close to a flowing water if You hear someone play the violin because that could be Näcken. They say he’s longing for company but ig he catch You he will drown You so I’m not so sure about the company part 🙂 🙂 He can also show up as a horse (Näckahästen), usually pure white, and trick mostly children to climb up on him. Once they are he’ll run strait out into the river and drown the poor kids. They do say that no one can play the violin like he so I’ve learned that one actually can ask him if he want to teach how to do it, there’s always a price to pay though.

Can’t be seen much but this basket is starting to fill up with nasturtium and peas.
The English walnut is growing slowly but steadily.

This is also the time to think of the coming winter and ones health. It is important to collect as much morning dew as possible this night because that can help You survive the long and hard winter. I’ve come to understand that dragging a sheet over the wet vegetation is the best way to collect as much as possible. When that is done one must save the dew in sealed glass jars and when winter comes and one feel a bit poorly just either add some dew to the bath water or perhaps mix it with lemonade/ tea/ coffee and that will make You better. I’ve never tried that but perhaps I should considering everything 🙂 🙂 🙂

One of the few Greater sea-kale that germinated and now I better protect it so the bugs don’t eat it.

This year the Rapunzel looks great. A bellflower where there once were several varieties for food. I think they taste like radishes.
The first potatoes are ready to be picked 🙂

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day, I feel I’m slowly coming back to normal after a week with evening work. Tired as h… but I think by tomorrow I’ll feel fine.

Have a great day!

Another warm and sticky day, the morning was nice though and as long as we were out on our morning walk the sun shone and it was just enough warm. It was cloudy for a while after that so it continued to stay nice but as soon as the sun showed itself it went down hill 🙂

Then again that made the laundry dry up fast so I won’t complain too much 🙂 I’ve forgotten to make dinner for work next week but I did make pancakes for me and the dogs, I’ll eat oatmeal porridge at work tomorrow instead 🙂

The heat made me tired so we’ve actually had two long naps today, the first one in my recliner and that really is a great place to nap, the second one in my bed and I was joined by Alma and Malkolm I had started a timer so I wouldn’t sleep for too long but it felt nice to be in bed awake so we stayed there for quite some time 🙂 Normally I just get up and start doing what I am supposed to do so this was a nice change, that of course made me not doing what I had planned to do and therefore no dinner for work 🙂 but it is worth it 🙂

It will stay warm tomorrow until the evening when a cold front will fly in from west bringing cooler weather and lots of rain. I won’t mind the rain since it is quite dry in my garden. I really don’t want any cold weather for quite some time, or not at all but that won’t happen 🙂 The weather pattern has changed quite a lot though, winter used to start in late October and then, if it was really bad, continue in to May, I don’t miss that at all. Now winter comes as earliest in late February, stays a short while and then hopefully spring starts, this year we had summer in May instead, sort of normal rainy summer until August and now summer again in September 🙂 🙂

It is time for a couple of sandwiches and a cup of tea I think and then most likely dozing off in front of the tv 🙂

Have a great day!

We started our morning walk before the sun slowly started to rise up in the sky, around 15C (59F) and it felt like an early summer morning, even some birds sang. I wasn’t sure if there were hunters out in the forest because some of them were here yesterday evening. I wasn’t sure if it was to prepare for today or staying the night to hunt wild hogs and to be honest I was too lazy to check if the sign was up that they put up every time they’re out there, so we had a walk in the village instead. That also guarantees that we wont have to be creeped out by moose flies that has started flying around. I truly hate those flies!

I had hoped for some morning mist and even though I actually saw some it was in a sort of sad way, barely visible and only just above the ground in two places 🙂 🙂 🙂 OK one hovered over the old iron age graves and one was hovering over the old stone age tomb but that one was even harder to see. Nova, as always held her own pace, either far behind or far ahead 🙂 It is like she’s a bit ashamed to walk with us and rather not be seen with the rest of us 🙂 🙂

This is a sorry excuse for a morning mist 🙂 🙂
This one is even harder to see 🙂
Cranes moving south.

Since then the temperature has risen a lot, still nice outside because of a breeze but it is getting warmer and warmer now. So both the doors downstairs are closed and all drapes are covering the windows and doors to keep the heat outside but both windows upstairs are open because the breeze blows through the entire upstairs. It’s like a cool wind with a warm touch flows around us all.

I made a pie and used the apples from my seed sown apple tree and they really work good for pies. I had some vanilla ice cream to it so I must say that they day became a bit better while eating it 🙂 🙂 Not that the day has been bad in any way but pie always make even a good day better 🙂 Otherwise I’ve done very little besides watering those plants that need watering and I might do that again later today when the sun can’t reach the garden.

It is time to have something to eat and I still have some chicken and potato salad left from yesterday so I’ll share that with the dogs. After that I think I’ll have a short nap before it is time to give the dogs their dinner. Nova also wants to thank for the birthday wishes 🙂

Cikory.
Foxglove.
Morning glory.
This dahlia doesn’t look like any of the varieties I bought this spring but that’s what I like 🙂

Have a great day!

We aren’t allowed to have perennial Lupines in our gardens any more but these annuals aren’t bad to be honest.

The Hardy Kiwi has decided to start to flower, only it should have done that in spring.
I haven’t seen any butterflies close to the Butterfly bush yet 🙂 I do hope they’ll come before the frost takes them.
