Strong winds and sunshine.

DSC_0001 (8)

It drizzled some when I drove home after work today but I think that was all we got, places in the south tip of this country got more today than they usually get during this month. Well they’ve had so little rain this year that they need it but I guess the problem is that the ground is so dry that it couldn’t drink any of it up anyway.

We’ve had strong winds though and on the forest road I drive on every day a smaller tree had fallen down and torn off the electric wire beside the road. It was tricky to pass that place because we had to almost drive down into the ditch beside. The one behind me most likely got in trouble because it didn’t catch up after passing that place. I know I shouldn’t smile while writing that but that driver is so annoying because he (I guess it is a he driving the car) is so close to me that if I panic break he will hit me pretty hard.

Nothing had fallen in the forest where we walked after I had come home. We even had some sunshine. One good thing with strong winds is that the moose flies, who are bad flyers, preferres to stay in the vegetation. To be honest I haven’t had that big problems with them this autumn, perhaps the summer was too dry so they died before hatching from the pupae? Then again, the Beekeeper who walks much out on the bog says it’s worse out there so maybe I’ve just been lucky so far?

Someone has destroyed the two gas pipelines from Russia to Germany, Nordstream 1 and 2. They weren’t used but still full of gas who now leaks out into the water and then out into the atmosphere. We all believe it’s the Russians themselves because anyone doing this needs lots of money and knowledge on how to find the pipelines and how to put explosives on them deep down in the ocean. Now panic is spread because they now think the guilty one perhaps also wants to do this to other gas pipelines and electric cables that lies on the bottom of the ocean. Also this made the price of natural gas go up again and that will eventually make the electric bills be bigger even though we here in Sweden don’t use natural gas to make electricity.

Today is a different story, lots of rain and more is on its way. The weather sites are guessing that we’ll have rain for the rest of the week so I wouldn’t be surprised if we instead will have lots of sunshine πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I don’t mind the rain though, it’s too dry here right now so some trees have leafs that just hang down like unstarchedΒ  handkerchiefs.

Nothing much is happening here though and since it is raining the dogs will refuse to take a walk and I can’t complain about that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Tonight they’ll hit a small asteroid far away in space just to see if they can change the direction it is travelling in. Just in case they would find one on its way to hit this little planet of ours. I always get a bad feeling when I hear that they will do something like that.

What if their calculations on what will happen is wrong and that small asteroid will change its direction and hit something else that then will start moving towards us and finally hit and kill us all πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Perhaps not in the near future but later on when we won’t suspect anything to hit us πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well I’m pretty sure we soon will destroy this little planet f ours anyway so no idea to worry about asteroids far out in space.

Have a great day!

We’ll get anything from lots of rain to A LOT of rain :-)

a (1)

We might get up to 80 mm or three and one fifth inches of rain this weekend (or possibly even more, it all depends on where the showers will pass). At the moment we’re having a nice gentle summer rain and almost no winds to speak of. The dogs won’t go outside in it but it’s actually quite nice.

The morning weather was rather different though. Just below 10C (50F), ground mist and a rising sun.Β  There are no birds singing any more unless one counts the trumpeting from Cranes. When we first hear them it’s a typical spring sound but now when we hear them it’s a typical autumn sound. Lots of them are heading south now together with lots of geese. Some will stay for much longer but those who plays it safe move south already now.

No flies were around to annoy us thankfully. Well most of the forest flies are gone but it is worrisome that the moose flies already have arrived. They will usually stay until late October or early November unless the worst night frost that will come is nasty cold. It isn’t that many years ago that we didn’t have those nasty flies here but warmer and especially shorter winters have helped them to survive till next spring. We do have lots of spiders this year though and since there has been plenty of annoying forest flies (but actually not especially many horse flies) they’ve had plenty to eat.

This weekend is the last one with summer temperatures they believe, already on Monday it’ll fall below 20C (68F) and it will stay like that for at least eight days. I don’t want summer temperatures for too long so I’m ok with it but I sure don’t want winter to start early either πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ A perfect climate would be a very long and not too cold autumn followed by a not too early spring, I really don’t mind us skipping winter even though that most likely would mean more ticks, horse flies and moose flies πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Two aggressive thunderstorms.

This rather big spider lives in the big Rose bush.

We’ve had two incredibly aggressive thunderstorms passing by yesterday and today. The app the counts how many lightnings we had within thirty minutes jumped up to well over 1000 pretty quick. It also stayed there for well over two hours, both yesterday and today.

We didn’t get that much rain yesterday but nature fixed that pretty well today instead πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We had three big power breaks today and one time the fire alarm started to shout, turns out the lightning hit the roof of the factory, No fire but the alarm was rather safe than sorry πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I had a package waiting for me, for some reason they placed it in FalkΓΆping instead of Gudhem where it should have been. For the longest time I couldn’t decide whether I should pick it up today or tomorrow but it did look like the storm would move on so I decided to pick it up anyway.

It is amazing how fast the weather can change πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Suddenly I was at the center of it, lightnings in the air everywhere and suddenly it hit close to the road beside me. Besides the strong light I also could feel the pressure wave from the lightning hit the car and not forgetting the sound. The rain was pouring down so i barely could see the road and at one point if felt like the car was floating when I drove in to a big puddle I couldn’t see because of the rain πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The storm has passed by but the Norwegian weather site, the one I trust more, says we’ll get more soon.

I’ve failed the only goal I had for this vacation and it was such an easy goal to reach to be honest. I had decided that I should take a nap every day all four weeks but I’ve only really done it since last Friday πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ (I don’t count dozing off in front of the tv though).

It wasn’t the nicest weather when we woke up today, not especially chilly but the rain was pouring down. I really didn’t mind the rain but I had to force the dogs outside so that they would do their businesses πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
The rain has come and gone every now and again the entire day and it stayed on the cool side, it was quite nice being outside to be honest. Then the sun suddenly showed itself and when it did it suddenly became rather
warm and with the high humidity it went from nice to rather nasty. I looked at the weather sites and yesterday they showed that it would stay on the cool side today but now they suddenly show that we’ll have temperatures
up to 27C ( F). It’s just for on day thankfully, already tomorrow evening a cold front will pass by with lots of rain and most possibly thunder as well.

It does look as if the anti tick spray works pretty well. Neither Nova nor Alma have had more than a couple of the nasty buggers walking on them. The lemon scented collar on Albin is harder to say anything about. I have
found a couple on him but he rarely have any walking around or biting him anyway. Flies are biting them all though so neither the spray or the collar helps towards them I’m afraid. I guess it’s the same insects that bite me when I walk
barefoot on my lawn. It itches for a short while and the red markings that show also disappears pretty quick but it had made me not walking barefoot outside before going to bed πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It is nice that they like it there but the joy of changing the water quickly fades off πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I do use that water in my vegetable patch though so at least I have some good use for it. I haven’t picked it all together yet though but it will be up and running at least tomorrow πŸ™‚ I really would like to have a 600 liters ( 158,5 gallon US) like I once had but I doubt that the over 100 years old floors here would managed to carry that kind of weight πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’ve tried to find out what kind of wild rose this huge one is. The closest I’ve come is Rosa setigera, Climbing prairie rose but the buds doesn’t look the same so I’ll continue looking.

It was drizzling when I woke up this morning and a bit cool as well. Soo nice to just step outside when I let the dogs out. I had my bedroom window open and was thinking that I should let it stay open it would stay cool in my bedroom. I’m so glad I closed it because it started to rain rather bad when I drove to work and after that it fell like it was a thunderstorm passing by πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I did regret that when we were on our way home again because we reached an area where the wind couldn’t reach us but the flies could πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Only annoying forest flies thankfully and I do hope this is one of those few years when we have very few horse flies.

This morning she had a long conversation with Albin, she wanted to play he wanted to nap until I went to work πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I must admit that it would have been nice if she could lower her voice a bit but who can blame her, she was upset πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It was almost cloud free when we started our rather short walk but the sky was completely covered by clouds by the time we came home again, perhaps 30 minutes later. I haven’t found that add about bread baking machines again but while looking I remembered that it would be much better if I actually bought a new slow cooker since the ceramic pot in the old one broke. I managed to convince my work friend that it is one of the best inventions ever so he bought one and now he makes all his dinners in it πŸ™‚ When I get it I’ll try to bake a bread in it too, I’ll still do all the work but I must try it πŸ™‚

I was surprised by getting two packages today. The first one I was expecting, it was the anti fungal thingΒ  I’ll use against peach leave curl. I can’t understand how the first wild peaches (there is no wild peach any longer and they don’t seem to really know from where this fruit first came) survived at all but then again we’ve most likely meddled with these trees so much that they no longer can survive without our help.

It is time to go downstairs again. I feel like a cup of tea might be in place. I have a head ache so I hope that a cup of tea will solve that. I’m really tired now as well so I doubt that a late cup of tea will keep me up tonight. It doesn’t look like the thunder will come any closer though. I’ve always wondered what I should do with my electrical toilet. Should I keep it plugged in or do like I do with almost all other electrical things, unplug it? It has happened that the lightning has come out into my cottage but that was before they dug down all the cables. It would be good to know though.

The weather has been a bit mixed today. Cloudy all the time but sometimes it’s just been raining, some times the sky has opened up totally and sometimes actually not raining at all. We’ve even have had some occasional drizzle. It was mostly just raining or drizzling when we went out on our morning walk and since the forest kept most of the wind away from us it actually wasn’t that bad. We followed the creek up-streams and Nova sensed something that she didn’t want to meet. The other two sensed it also but they sure didn’t hesitate to meet what ever it was πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

My guess is that they could smell wild hogs because they tend to be around the creek a a lot and that’s where we’ve seen them most times but it could have been moose or red deer too. It could also have been a wolf, lots of sightings of wolves in this and neighboring counties lately. I think it is a lone wold that walks around and as long as I have the dogs leashed I don’t worry about them. Besides how would a wolf react to two screaming dogs where one sounds as if he would like to tear what ever we meet apart and the other one as if something actually is tearing her apart πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I think the wolf just would feel very sorry for me and walk the other way πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Alma did behave pretty well for being her on the other half of our walk. The first half not so much though. She does however listen very well to me when we’re in the garden now. She stops and turns back every time I tell her to just before she will jump over the fence. The last times I’ve opened the kitchen door today, when it just drizzled, she didn’t walk or run that way at all. Instead she stayed on the other side of the garden. Perhaps there actually is some hope that she one day before she dies actually will behave really well πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The weather hasn’t allowed us to do much else today. I’ve tried to nap but every time I do one of the dogs has come and wanted some belly scratching or to be just a bit annoying πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We’ve had pancakes for dinner and I’ve had lots of tea. Right now the sun does its best to shine through the clouds and even though it actually isn’t especially successful it does get a bit brighter outside. they’re guessing that from tomorrow we’ll get no more rain and that temperatures actually will rise to just below 20C (68F). Tomorrow will be sunny and the rest of the week a sky full with clouds but actually some sunshine as well.

Well I’ll believe it if it happens. Time for more tea and to give the dogs their food.

Have a great day!

It is hard to shout quietly :-)

The tree stump from the old crabapple tree. I would like to cover 99% of that big hole so that wild bees could move in. I’m pretty sure it is thick enough so bees would survive there during winter.

It has rained off and on all day but I didn’t care that much. I’ve been busy napping since I came home early after work. I woke up at 2:20 am to the sound of a dog vomiting. It wasn’t anything more than a ball of grass though so easy to clean up.

We were walking down to the creek when I noticed that they’ve closed the road so that the cattle could walk over to another pasture. I really didn’t want to try and pass there with my dogs who are terrified of those electric cables, so we had to turn back again.

I decided to let them outside before going back to bed again. So naturally Alma decided to jump over the fence and go god knows where. It’s so fun to have to shout as quietly as possible in the middle of the night to get that dog back home. Well someone had left a trash bag outside their door and Alma had gone though it. She smelled so wonderful and I was so upset about her that I couldn’t go back to sleep πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It is never a good idea to put out a trash bag here, even if one perhaps doesn’t expect a dog to go through it at night, because magpies will tear it open as fast as they can and then spread the contents all over the area. I’ve done it once and I’ll never do it again πŸ™‚

She was also impossible on our walk so she is not on the top ten list of things I like at the moment, not even on the top thousand to be honest.Β  So now she’s not allowed to be outside without me being there too and she really doesn’t like that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ She knows that she isn’t allowed to do most things she does and doesn’t even have the decentness to look guilty when being discovered πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I looked at a tv program with a dog expert who dealt with dog behaving like Alma and turns out they actually do the same things I’ve tried with Alma and sometimes without any good result either. So I guess I’ll just have to keep on trying until we either get it right or we both die trying πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

They are now guessing that we’ll get rain tomorrow but actually sunshine all Sunday. It would be nice if they get the temperature right so that I finally can turn off the radiators. They work all night here and even if I don’t have them on high temperature they will at least keep the humidity outside, we’ve mostly had a humidity around 90% to 100% lately and it does it its way through the walls. The vegetation outside loves it though so I guess I can’t complain too much.

Have a great day!
