A day of relaxation :-)

a (2)
Older photos today, no snow left and no photos taken since we couldn’t take any walk in the forest while we had daylight.

Today has been a day of relaxation, well the previous ones as well but today we took an extra long nap after lunch. The hunters were out for the most part of the day when we still had daylight and it has also rained quite a lot so none of the dogs were outside for any longer period of time. I could hear the hunting dogs every time I went outdoors so I guess they never met any of the potential wolves out there.

I was planning on going to the grocery store tomorrow but we’ll have sunshine so I’ll postpone it until Wednesday instead (it looks like the rest of the week will be mostly rainy here, I don’t mind but it would be nice if we could have some sunshine and above freezing now when I have my vacation). I really don’t need that much but seeds for the birds are running low and I forgot to buy gingerbread last week so I haven’t had any this entire christmas, to be honest I haven’t eaten more than a couple this entire December so I feel that is one thing I need to correct πŸ™‚ I’ll also buy some julmust, haven’t had much of that either.

It’s the season to start thinking of seeds again. Either one buy seeds for perennials that needs a winter to start germinating or buy those vegetable seeds one want to grow this summer. I wasn’t that successful with peas but I did get a lot of beans. My white cabbage never became bigger than a tennis ball so I’ll sow some other kind instead. The lettuce however grew better than expected but then again lettuce isn’t especially hard to grow, they don’t like hot summers so spring or early autumn usually works perfectly. So far my Pawpaws look living and healthy and I do hope that if winter decides to come back again that it at least stays just below freezing and not much lower, they are still really small and need a few years before they manages our rather long dark period during winter.

Last Sunday when we took a walk out on the bog I found some tracks in the snow when we walked on my favorite island out there. beneath the canopy there was just a thin layer of powdered snow so I really couldn’t see what animals they came from but it was clear that they weren’t from pigs or any kind of deer or moose. Fairly big and my dogs were really unhappy about them. From what I could figure out there must have been at least three of these animals passing by. It looked like the animals had done their best to walk in each others foot steps though. Since the dogs were so unhappy about them I guessed that we must have wolves here again. Today I thought we should walk the same way again but it didn’t take long until suddenly the dogs refused to go on, they all sniffed in the air and just wouldn’t walk. So we turned back and I think that must have been the first time all dogs had the same goal, just to leave the area as fast as possible. So I guess those wolves are still out there and who knows perhaps they were watching us while we left in a hurry.

I don’t mind wolves myself but I really don’t want to risk meeting several of them while walking in an area where we not easily can get away from them. A dog is just another wolf in their eyes and will kill and eat them if they can. I’m not sure if they would have come even close to use while me, a human, is with the dogs but I’m not willing to try and test it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ There weren’t any tracks from any other animal but hares and a fox out there either and that’s usually a sign that something has changed, like wolves staying in the area. So instead we walked down to the creek and back home again. I talked with my neighbor and he had seen some paw prints behind one of his cars so we took a look at them. The prints were much bigger than Almas but perhaps not as big as the only real paw print I’ve seen in snow that actually came from a wolf, so either a really big dogs or a rather young wolf I guess. Kind of cool that they’ve passed just outside my garden but at the same time I better follow my dogs outside in to the gardenΒ  now when it’s dark outside. Just in case it will return. Anyway I did send a text message to the hunters that will be out hunting tomorrow, they’ll be using dogs and I really don’t want any dog to risk getting killed by a wolf. To be honest, if I hadn’t had the dogs with me today and thought there might be wolves around I would have continued out on the bog just to see if I could see any πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Fortunately I took some photos last Sunday while we were out walking there πŸ™‚

These are the times to also keep an eye open fro trolls and other beings while out walking according to our folklore. Trolls, who actually origins from the Norse faith can be out and about any time of day since they look much like us humans. Well not the mountain trolls up in the north of course, they are really big and human like even though they quite often are rather ugly, shrewd as few but not especially smart and they really dislike us humans. The other trolls however are much more like us but with the difference that they have a long tail. Sort of downy all they way to the tip where they have a big fluffy “ball” of hair. If one leave them alone they’ll leave us along but they will be forever grateful of one help them when they are in need. They occasionally tends to swap their children with ours but it is easy to make them swap back again, just threaten to hit the child and the troll mother will be there in no time to get their child back. A troll would never ever hurt their own child no matter what. Most of the rest of the beings will mostly come out when it gets dark and this time of year it’s dark almost all the time, especially if it is cloudy as it has been today. Never interact with them unless it is to help them (happens extremely rare), they will reward anyone who will give them a hand when they need it. Also it is a good thing to have some pieces of silver in the pockets, they love silver and will help if one give them some of it.

The gnome is, from what I’ve read, never seen during daytime. The house gnome or perhaps more correct the farm gnome is said to be the spirit of the first owner of the farm, the one who once built the place. He stays just because he wants to make sure the place is well taken care of. He helps with the animals on the farmers do their best as well. However if the farmer is lazy the gnome will punish him one way or the other and if the farmers are really bad it happens that the gnomes simply burns the place down. The gnome is always a male and he usually wears grey or green, rather worn woolen clothes. One shouldn’t however bring him new clothes as a thank you because if he feels he is too well dressed he most likely will leave for good, he will of course not wear good clothes while working in the barn πŸ™‚ The gnome can live in the barn but he can also live in the care tree that should be growing in every home. A care tree (or vΓ₯rdtrΓ€d as we call it in swedish) is a tree that is planted just for eventual sprits and beings to live in. Normally it would be an Elm tree, Ash tree or perhaps a Linden but it could also be, like in my garden a Rowan tree or perhaps an Oak or a Chestnut tree. What ever one does ever never hurt a care tree, not even by mistake, because the spirits and beings living there will punish You, perhaps even with death, if one does. On the other hand if one takes good care of it they will instead make sure one will have a good life.

In the original photo it’s quite orange but as soon as I cropped it that color sort of vanished. I really need to find that old tripod if the sky ever gets clear again πŸ™‚

Days have passed and things are still rather slow here. I did feel nausea at work on Thursday though and my stomach rumbled a lot so I went home quite early in the day. Felt really bad and started freezing so I went to bed, slept a couple of hours. After that I kept on feeling better so on Fri9day morning I went to work again. It’s still much warmer here than normal, ok nothing close to how it’s been on the American continent but much warmer than usual. Today I think it reached 14C (57,2F) while the sun was shining. The sun didn’t start to shine through the clouds until we were almost back home after our morning walk but I was able to keep the kitchen door open for quite some time. She really doesn’t give a s..t about treats or anything when we’re out walking πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well she gets attention when she’s pulling the leash or screams like insane every time something moves or perhaps will move if there’s even the slightest wind πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The other evening when I let the dogs out before going to bed I heard a sound like something big was walking in the pasture on the other side of the gravel road. Didn’t think much about it at the moment, just thought that there must be a big cow walking around in the mud. Came out next morning and realized that they don’t have any animals at all in that pasture πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So my guess is that a moose must have been walking just a few meters (much the same in yards) away from my front door πŸ™‚ Perhaps I should start using my wildlife camera again πŸ™‚

I was really surprised yesterday. The ice cream lorry comes here twice a month and only when I still am at work. Yesterday it suddenly came to the village after I had come home, can’t remember if that ever has happened before. Normally it stops up at the farm and those times I have been at home they’ve left before I’ve been able to get up to the farm. This time it drove down our little gravel road, I guess he was hoping that my neighbors would buy some. Unfortunately for him they weren’t at home but fortunately for him (and me) I was πŸ™‚Β  So I stopped him and bought some ice cream with pistachio flavor πŸ™‚ He said he’ll come down this road two more times before the season is over so I told him not to come to early and stop by my cottage πŸ™‚

I didn’t win the one billion one hundred and ninety five million kronor jackpot on the lottery last Friday so I’m aiming on the one billion two hundred and ninety five million kronor jackpot tomorrow πŸ™‚ Since I’ve promised that if I win that much I would give everyone at work (those working at the factory floor, not the ones with their own offices) a lot of money I’ve realized that I most likely would have to move from here. It would be impossible to not be known as the rich one. The risk of waking up one day looking straight in to the face of someone wanting my money would be rather big since no one would know what would be going on in a little cottage at the outskirts of the world πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I thin it would be better to just win the one hundred and fifty million kronor jackpot in the other big lottery we’re having because I’ve never promised them anything if I would win that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ (divide with twelve and You’ll have the $ US)

We are supposed to get rid of this time changing but the pandemic delayed it all, most governments were more occupied by other things that to write down their approval on that change. I When they finally do they will have to decide if we’ll keep the standard time or change to summer time all year round and sine we all know how politicians are this can take a decade or two before they can decide that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The people of Sweden were stupid enough to vote for a right wing government supported by a fascist party. Mostly because they promised that we would get instant compensation for the high electrical bills we’ll get this winter. So today they showed us what they’ll give us. For one thing it will be a compensation for what we payed too much last winter, when the prices were rather low compared to what they’ll be this winter and as best we’ll get those pennies some time next year. Some electricity companies have told their customers to talk to their banks so that they have those extra $ 5000 they might need to pay for the electricity this winter. The compensation we’ll get will stay closer to maximum $ 400 US for a normal house hold. I never can understand how anyone ever can believe a right wing government supported by a fascist party!!

Smells really nice but I think it’s around two hours left before it’s done πŸ™‚ I can’t wait for that first slice with melted butter and cheese and a nice cup of tea πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

I might risk a cup of tea tonight as well :-)

Time just flew away at work today and since the weather was quite nice I could have the big door to the painting box open quite a lot. Someone at work b rings fresh pears to work every day so we all can eat them when we like to. I like to a lot πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I think he has brought two different kinds and I’ve saved quite many pear kernels that I now have in moist paper towels (in plastic bags) in the fridge. They are really tasty so I hope that if I get any trees they’ll give just as tasty fruits too.

I took a look at “My pages” at my electricity company and in there I can see how much electricity I’ve used per day and the outdoor temperature as well. I can also see what it was like last year at this time of year. So according to the electricity company I’ve used 19,2% less electricity now than last year. The only days I’ve spent more energy this year are on especially Sundays and I’m not surprised since I do most vacuuming, washing laundry and making dinner for the coming week on Sundays. Last year I was lazy and bought most of my dinners at work πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We managed to take a walk in the forest before the sun set today. No hunters out today and they won’t be here until Sunday again. I wonder if they either have shot their moose or if they’ve just given up, so far this autumn I’ve just seen one set of tracks from moose so I doubt that there are especially many in the neighborhood. Then again there are lost of wild hogs so I think they can concentrate their hunting on them.

I did actually have a cup of tea the other day and it didn’t affect my sleeping at all, I’m just as tired today so I think I’ll risk taking a cup again today. I might even go so far that I’ll have a couple of Digestives with blue cheese as well πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Does it stand for Does Not Serve? :-)

DSC_0006

I tried to go out on the net yesterday and I don’t think I’ve had such good coverage in many years but still I couldn’t. When my computer tried to locate what the problem was it said that something was wrong with a DNS server. I have no idea what that is but I guess that DNS stands for Does Not Serve πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We’ve had a couple of really windy days here, so windy that I had to pick up a work friend on my way to work because he has one of those covered mopeds and it’s so high that he wasn’t sure if the wind would pull it of the road πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ He lives just beside the road I’m driving on to work so that was of course no problem at all. Well the good thing with this wind is that suddenly the price of electricity dropped to the lowest we’ve had in years πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Doesn’t help me because my new contract starts on December first.

I talked with work friends and checked the different contracts they offered me and the fixed price is so high that if I chose that one my electricity bill would rice with 400% (it would be around half a US dollar per KWh). I could also chose the price by the hour and try to live my life after how the prices went up and down. One could say that if I wanted to use more electricity for something I would have to do it at night when the prices are as lowest, especially at nights during the weekend. Well I tend to like to sleep during nights so that wasn’t really an option either.

So I chose something that can be described day by day or ongoing. I’ll pay for the average price for each and every day. If the prices would plummet I can change the contract already the next month if I want to, the fixed price is for a year. It seems that most people at work who needs to renew the contract will chose the day by day variant. So I’ll check if I’ve won the lottery later today, I think that if I won those 500 million kronor (around $45,5 million US) I would be able to feel safe during at least this winter πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’ve had a rather exciting job at work these last two days. I was standing on a sky lift 6 meters up and spray painting the roof beams in a part of the factory. My brain told me that this is completely safe and nothing to worry about (I have to admit that I volunteered to do this and when I did I don’t think I used my brain at all πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ) but my body screamed otherwise πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Every time I finally had gotten used to it something happened, like the boss phoned me and I really refused to start talking in the phone at that hight, or the spray painter, which is almost as old as I am I think, started to behave oddly. It hadn’t been used in years so when paint mixed with thinner flowed through those old hoses they slowly gave up.

Well I’ve done it by I must admit that I will never do anything like that in my life again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I think that this was a thing where I was too old to learn and enjoy something like that. My work friend who came to help to paint in those spots I couldn’t reach (he’s much longer than I am) is much younger than I am and he leaned over the railing painting well outside of the sky lift, I held on to the beams like my life depended on it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

I’m so glad she stayed in the garden.

I let the dogs out just before going to bed yesterday evening, Albin came back rather soon and just as he was walking indoors I hear Alma bark like crazy and she’s not playing, she was furious. She was at the other side of the garden, barking towards the big pasture but since it was completely dark I couldn’t see anything.

It took a while before she finally felt she had done enough πŸ™‚ I still have no idea what she was barking at but she was still very upset when she went indoors. My guess is that it could have been the piglet that always escapes from his pasture, she really don’t like those piglets. It could also be a moose or perhaps a fox or a badger. No person in their right mind would walk there in the dark, it wouldn’t take long until that person would fall and injure him or her self πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The thing I was most happy about though is that she never left the garden to try and hunt down what ever it was πŸ™‚

Yesterday was rather nice with lots of sunshine and nice temperatures, today was more murky with misty rain and grey skies. We did see the sun for about ten seconds but that was it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Still I don’t mind autumn days like that, they are perfect to just stay indoors doing very little. Well I did the laundry at five am and at two pm I made dinner for next week at work. The rest of the day I’ve done nothing at all. At least I can’t remember doing anything but sitting in my recliner watching something I’m not interested in on tv πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’ll leave work early tomorrow because I’ll go to the optician so we can correct my contact lenses. I should be able to see in long distances since they are progressive but it does feel like they forgot that part when they made this pair πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I realized that I missed lots of mushrooms when we were out walking because of the lenses, I didn’t wear them yesterday and we walked the same roads and suddenly I saw mushrooms everywhere πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ (I have those mushrooms in the sauce for my dinners at work for next week πŸ™‚ )

I’m tired and I would love to join my dogs in my bed right now. Too early though, it’s not even seven pm yet πŸ™‚ Nothing but the news on tv that I want to watch and the news can hardly be called uplifting πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ They’ll report that the price of fuel have risen lots because the temporarily lowering of the taxes are gone, I’m so happy I filled up my car before I went home on Friday πŸ™‚ They’ll also most likely talk about the sabotage on the two gas pipelines going from Russia to Germany and the risk of having a fascist party pressuring the coming government. They can not create a government without that party’s support so they’ll most likely give that part anything they want. This party is the lackeys of Putin and think it is ok to threaten journalists but I guess having the power will excuse anything.
