A really nice day despite only a little sunshine and a GF bread recipe.

I filled the bird feeder for the first time two days ago. Not a single bird came until early this morning ๐Ÿ™‚

ย

We’ve had a really nice day today, not as sunny perhaps but warmer, also no frost even though it was close. I was freezing when I woke up so I must have had a fever so I waited a bit longer before we went out on our morning walk so that it was a bi warmer even where the sun didn’t reach but cold enough for the moose flies to stay calm.

ย  ย  ย

To be honest so far I haven’t seen that many moose flies here so perhaps last winter and rainy summer killed off a lot of then? We walked out to the bog, out on the peninsula, a favorite place for me and the dogs. I enjoy the views and the dogs all the smalls from the Fallow deer and Red deer and the badgers of course. Malkolm probably wondering what they look like and Alma wanting to pick up a fight with them, I really don’t understand why she wants that ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Nova once met a badger. The badger jumped up on the road and ran towards her and old Sune , who was half Bernese moutaindog and half English working cockerspaniel, very much like Malkolm in his behavior.

ย  ย  ย

Both dogs just stood there (always unleashed) and the badger came running to them. They stood there and sniffed at each other, looking really happy to meet each other, then they all turned away and went on their own directions. Five minutes later we met the Mrs, she wasn’t happy at all and both showed and sounded so we wouldn’t do it again ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย  ย

I haven’t done anything I was planning today, mostly I’ve just rested a lot but it felt like a nap only would mean lots of coughing. I have however baked gluten free french rolls. I never fully follow recipes but today I was close ๐Ÿ™‚ and they turned out really good! I’ll write the recipe at the end and the changes I made at the end and it’ll be in centigrades and grams so You’ll need to change to Your measurements yourself, my brain is just too foggy right now ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

I will stay calm until this cold is over, calling companies asking for jobs but having a cold isn’t especially smart if they want You to come over to have a talk, it’s never a good idea to make an eventual employer sick when looking for a job ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ But I might have to go to the store and buy food.

A bumblebee had spent the night in the Canadian goldenrod, it was just waking up when we came home from our walk ๐Ÿ™‚
I’ve never seen flower buds growing together like this! It’s like they are conjoined twins.
Lots of male starlings up in my neighbors birches.
I looked at these for a very long time wondering what it was ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Then I remembered that I sowed cob millet for the birds but they started to grow so late that I had forgotten about them. I hope the birds will have some use of them despite them being so late.

Anyway, the recipe.

Ingredients:

100 grams of potato flourย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย

300 grams of brown rice flourย  ย  ย  ย  ย Well I used 200 grams of white rice flour because I didn’t have any brown rice anything and one bag with 200 grams of white rice flour already open and didn’t want to open a new one ๐Ÿ™‚ Instead I added 100 grams of Oat flour.

ย

20 grams of powdered psyllium husk.

ย

1.5 teaspoon of salt

ย

1 tablespoon of honey.ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Why destroy honey that way, I used brown sugar instead and probably 2 table spoons because the sugar is food for the yeast.

ย

1 tablespoon of olive oil.

ย

2 teaspoons of dry yeast or 20 grams of fresh yeast.

ย

500 grams of lukewarm water.

ย

Instructions:

Add all the dry ingredients in a bowl, including yest, salt and sugar. Well I’ve done that once and I really failed with that bread. I added all the dry things together with some strong tasting cheese (the recipe says olive oil but I can’t stand olive anything really), don’t take too much, it will feel like eating a well tasting rubber ball if You do that ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ย

I warm the water and then add the yeast, sugar and salt and let it stand for a while, perhaps a minute before I put it all together.

Then the recipe says whisk it all together quickly. Well I say use a baking machine if You have one or like I do an old time electric whisk and work the dough for five minutes. If You have all the strength in the world and muscles thick as a telephone pole just do it by hand ๐Ÿ™‚

The recipe then says let it rest beneath a handkerchief for 75 minutes before You take it all out and form the rolls but be careful so You don’t press out the air. That’s quite stupid to be honest. This dough is rather firm, so form the rolls already after it has been worked on, put them on a baking sheet and then let it rest for 75 minutes.

ย

The instructions then says heat up the oven to 275C and as soon as You’ve put the rolls in the oven turn it down to 200C. No don’t do that, put it o 200 from the beginning (well all ovens can be different so You’ll have to test that Your self I’m afraid), otherwise You might end up with burned surfaces and soggy middles.ย

ย

Let them stay in the oven for 40 minutes, no that will be a bit long according to my tries. Today I had them in for 25 minutes with the oven working and then I turned off the oven and had the rolls in there for another ten minutes. Crispy surface and just enough baked through the entire rolls ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck if You try them ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s hard to believe that so much rain can fall at the same time ๐Ÿ™‚ Well that just means that I won’t have to water anything in the garden for quite some time ๐Ÿ™‚ It had rained all night so when I saw that the rain had stopped this morning the dogs and I went out for our walk, It can’t have taken more than a few minutes after we had left the garden when it started to pour down again ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ย

ย  ย  ย

I’m not complaining about the rain though because withย  that kind of weather napping comes naturally ๐Ÿ™‚ So we didn’t do much before I left for the hospital and the x-raying. I left a bit early to avoid the rush hour in Lidkรถping and as soon as I hadย  given notice of me being there they called me to get those x-rays. I said already, it’s a half hour until I’m supposed to be here and the nurse then said sometimes one is rewarded for being early ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ So I was finished long before I was supposed to be there ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

It is still pouring down outside so I think I might make it an early night and I hope my nose will stop running and that the coughing will stay calm (and the sneezing) It was a bit bad with both before I drove to the hospital but rather calm now in the evening.

ย  ย  ย

Have a great day!

Am I getting a cold?

So all the photos comes from the folder “For a rainy day”.

I think I’m about to get the cold so many around here already have had, it seems to have gone away after three days so it really doesn’t bother me that much but I sneeze all the time, my entire body hurts and I’m unusually tired all the time.

ย  ย  ย

I’ll have a vacation day tomorrow, I’m going to get x-rayed so they can see if there are any kidney stones left, I really hope there aren’t because I never want to go through that kind of pain again ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s in the afternoon so I could have gone to work if I really wanted to but then again this is my last week there so I took a vacation day instead ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

We had lots of thunder and heavy showers yesterday and both my water barrels that can take up to 325 liters (85,85 gallons US) are now completely full again. More rain is on the way and for a couple of days the temperature will stay around 15C (59F) and then rise slightly again. I have really enjoyed these low temperatures again buy I won’t mind if it goes up a degree or two again. It is however supposed to rain again tomorrow and that’s too bad because I was thinking of bringing a camera to show You what the town looks like, it is actually quite beautiful.

ย  ย  ย  ย

It’s time for a last cup of tea and perhaps an ice cream before I fall asleep in front of the tv ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

Another warm and sticky day, the morning was nice though and as long as we were out on our morning walk the sun shone and it was just enough warm. It was cloudy for a while after that so it continued to stay nice but as soon as the sun showed itself it went down hill ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

Then again that made the laundry dry up fast so I won’t complain too much ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve forgotten to make dinner for work next week but I did make pancakes for me and the dogs, I’ll eat oatmeal porridge at work tomorrow instead ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

The heat made me tired so we’ve actually had two long naps today, the first one in my recliner and that really is a great place to nap, the second one in my bed and I was joined by Alma and Malkolm I had started a timer so I wouldn’t sleep for too long but it felt nice to be in bed awake so we stayed there for quite some time ๐Ÿ™‚ Normally I just get up and start doing what I am supposed to do so this was a nice change, that of course made me not doing what I had planned to do and therefore no dinner for work ๐Ÿ™‚ but it is worth it ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

It will stay warm tomorrow until the evening when a cold front will fly in from west bringing cooler weather and lots of rain. I won’t mind the rain since it is quite dry in my garden. I really don’t want any cold weather for quite some time, or not at all but that won’t happen ๐Ÿ™‚ The weather pattern has changed quite a lot though, winter used to start in late October and then, if it was really bad, continue in to May, I don’t miss that at all. Now winter comes as earliest in late February, stays a short while and then hopefully spring starts, this year we had summer in May instead, sort of normal rainy summer until August and now summer again in September ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

It is time for a couple of sandwiches and a cup of tea I think and then most likely dozing off in front of the tv ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

Have a great day!

Seed pods from a day lily.

Nothing much has happened here these last days. We’ve had some rain and we’ve had some sunshine and that’s it. I am working with the same things as always and will continue to do so until the day I’m leaving, on Friday the 13th ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Friday the 13th has always been a lucky day in my family so if that means anything that’ll be the day something is going to happen ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Creeping bellflower.

ย

Jerusalem artichoke.

Alma has been unusually challenging when we’re out walking, I guess it is because she’s at the end of her being in heat. Today I finally had a witness to how she can be on our walks, the beekeeper walked with us for a short while, as he said: It seems she’s full of, well something ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m still confused to how a dog can be so different on walks towards how she is here at home. She’s an angel here at home (ok she do steal food from us all and can reach everywhere to do so -) ๐Ÿ™‚ ) but more like an insane demon while we’re out on our walks ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ The longest I’ve ever seen her concentrate on anything is twenty seconds, yes I count the seconds every time she actually finds anything interesting ๐Ÿ™‚ after that she’s all over the place again. Here at home she’s calm, does what I ask of her andlooks after old Nova so that she’s ok, a totally different dog. I’m sure she has dog adhd ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

This apple isn’t what You would call a crab apple, instead it’s a species of apple, Malus sylvestris, that we call Wild apple. Barely edible because it’s so sour but it pollinates all other apple varieties and works amazingly well to make a delicious jelly from.

Well I guess it’s time for that last cup of tea for the day and then fall asleep in front of the tv ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

I tried the first apple from my seed sown apple tree, not quite ripe yet but oh so delicious! So anyone who tells You that seed sown apple trees only give sour and bitter apples really don’t know what they are talking about!

Have a great day!

We were supposed to have lots of rain today and we certainly have had lots of it. A more constant rain in the early morning but more heavy showers for the rest of the day. We have also had lots of sunshine but being outside was a bit troublesome since one never could see when the showers arrived ๐Ÿ™‚

If this tree had fallen in the wrong direction my neighbors cars would have been hit. It fell towards the dog yard but didn’t reach it from what I could see.

ย

The crab apples in the forest are slowly turning red. These taste really nice but have a slightly bitter after taste.

We did manage to have a morning walk in the forest though, no hunters would willingly go out just to get caught in rain over and over again ๐Ÿ™‚ Strong winds during the night and I woke up by a loud crack while the rian hit my cottage. I didn’t think much of it to be honest but when I noticed that a huge tree beside the dog yard had broken and half the tree now was lying on the ground I thought it was that I had heard. Turns out that I was wrong, the tree had broken the day before when the storm passed by, what I had heard was the lightning hit nearby. Turns out I had several lightning warnings on my phone that I hadn’t noticed ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

I couldn’t see any damages in the forest though. I did see lots of mosquitoes, they were all over us but it looks like the fly season has ended. More flies will come and those are Moose flies, nasty little monsters to be honest, almost impossible to kill and they do have a nasty bite even though they rarely do bite.ย  If we’re lucky last winter killed lots of the larvae plus it has been so wet that lots of the larvae who lives in the ground and pupae have drowned this year. We have had fewer ticks this year because of the weather so I do hope it’s the same with the moose flies.

ย  ย  ย

I’ve done my chores today and we’ve also had our pancakes, this time I had my home made strawberry jam ๐Ÿ™‚ There was almost nothing left of the cherry jam. After that we had a long nap, at least two hours. I did wake up every now and again because the back wasn’t happy when I tried to move ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t made dinner for the entire week at work though, I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to eat so I just took what I had in the fridge and that will last for two days, better than nothing ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

It is time for a cup of coffee I think, normally I only drink tea but sometimes one feel that need of an extra kick from caffeine ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t say that the long nap helped to make me feel more energetic so I doubt some coffee will keep me up all night ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

Autumn flowering strawberries?!

I did see the sun slowly rising above the forest when I woke up so the first thing we did was to have our morning walk. It didn’t take long before clouds covered the sun but the walk was quite nice anyway. WE walked in to the village again and today one of the dogs was outside when we passed.

This was the last we saw of the sun while we were out walking but it did come back for a long time later in the day.

If I as a human would walk on old stone age tombs or move a single stone they would arrest me but cattle can damage it as much as they can and the owner wouldn’t risk being arrested ๐Ÿ™‚

We have quite a lot of crab apples in the village, these apples taste horrible ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I was so glad to see that all my dogs behaved perfectly while the dog we passed barked like crazy, it was especially fun to see how the owner opened the door to try and quiet the dog, didn’t work at all ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ So I must say that Alma’s behaviour has become so much better. Ok she pulled the leash a lot after all that excitement but she didn’t make even the tiniest sound and that’s a huge change. Malkolm did sort of bark twice but since Alma and Nova were quiet he stopped as well. Really good for a seven month old puppy ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

The branch doesn’t look that big but it was and it was quite heavy as well ๐Ÿ™‚

The only problem I’ve had today is my back. My immune system attacks my spine (and most of the cartilage in my joints, slowly but steadily, I got my first hip implant when I was 38) and most of the time I can take it but times like today it’s just nasty. The best thing I can do is to move use my back a lot and after a while the pain goes away, so today I picked up things that had flown around in the storm yesterday, I even moves away a big branch that fallen down on the gravel road and also watering the trees and bushes with the big water pitcher. Didn’t that hurt You might ask? Yes like insanely but now in the early evening it feels much better ๐Ÿ™‚ Tomorrow and several mornings ahead will be much the same but this will pass. I can’t take any anti inflammatory medicines because I destroyed my stomach with one of those, it was amazing as long as it lasted though ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

This little oak always have lots of acorns even when other trees haven’t.

I went outside in the storm yesterday just before it went dark. I already knew I had planted my Black walnut way too close to the cottage, I did that just because I never thought it would survive ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ 17 years now and it still stands ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ However when we have winter storms it doesn’t move that much but with all leafs still on it it almost reached the roof of the cottage, not good! I really don’t want to remove it but I might have to in a year or two. What worried me more though was the two huge Birches over at my neighbors, if they fall half of my cottage will follow them to the ground ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Well I have home insurance so I’ll get another one built up if that would happen. The only thing is that my bedroom would be the first thing they hit ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

My Hardy Hibiscus finally shows the colors of the coming flower.

I seem to have autumn flowering strawberries, didn’t know that excisted, so I’ll pick each ripe berry when they are ready and put them in the freezer.ย

A few Apples had fallen off as well so I bent down and picked them up, took a bit longer to stand up straight again ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ and went in and made an apple crumb pie, it tasted so yummy ๐Ÿ™‚ I did add some coconut to it and that made a big difference.

ย  ย  ย

It is raining outside, it isn’t supposed to but what does the rain care about that? It’s a misty rain, You know the kind that looks like mist or fog and that always eat its way through the clothes no matter how You dress. They’re guessing it’ll be like that most parts of tomorrow as well so it’ll be a perfect day to take a long nap ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

Have a great day!

I took this photo on my way to work one morning, nothing special a Roe deer in a field but take a look behind it.

I never saw the giant Red deer standing in the shadow by the trees just behind it ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

A storm passing by.

ย

The weather was rather nice this morning while I drove to work but not so nice when I drove back home. Now there’s a storm passing by, it rains on and off plus the sky is mostly evenly grey. The dogs are outside only when they really need to do their business and then runs straight back indoors again. It’s fairly warm though so even if we’re closing in to when we normally have our first frost I’m pretty sure it won’t come tonight ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve just taken a look at the weather sites and all show that nights will be so warm that there’s no risk of frost the coming ten days ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

The storm will have passed already tonight so with a bit of luck we’ll have a pretty nice morning walk with a chance of sunshine. I don’t have high hopes about the sunshine though, the sun usually only start to show when we’re almost at home ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ย

ย  ย  ย

People at work are already giving me tips on where they might need more people and the atmosphere at work has never been as bad as it is right now but I know for sure that they won’t change their minds about me. I’m still not worried the least though because I’ll take any job there is as long as the work hours aren’t during nights. One thing annoyes me even though I know people mean well, many have said that they miss me already ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ For heavens sake can’t they wait to do that until I’m actually gone ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m still talking to everyone every day after all ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

No new photos today because of the weather but I do have old analog photos (for those who don’t know what I mean with that, I quite often use the old film cameras and I have loads of those photos here in my computer) I can show and also made a folder called “For a rainy day”. Today is a rainy day so that works fine ๐Ÿ™‚ It is time for a last cup of tea for the day and after that perhaps watch some tv, well I tend to fall asleep in front of the tv to be honest but that’s just as good or perhaps even better than to watch what’s on the telly ๐Ÿ™‚

These photos are taken with an old camera called Agfa Flexilette. It was never popular to be honest. It’s a twin lens reflex camera and that means that one is looking through a separate lens via the view finder but take the photo with a separate lens beneath the view finder.ย  Here’s a link to Google that will show photos of that camera: Flexilette

ย ย  ย

Have a great day!

I didn’t expect that after 17 in the same work place.

I’ve been a bit distant lately and that’s because after working for 17 years at my work place I’ll have to quit my job. Not because I’ve done something wrong in any way but because my employer decided that I should start working four days a week (Monday till Thursday) from 4:25 pm to 03:00 am the next day. I told them I can’t do that for several reasons, I normally sleep from 9 pm to around 4:am and can’t just change my sleeping habits like that. They did this to me last autumn and I still have problems from that. I also can’t have my dogs in the dog yard because they bark like crazy as soon as any animal passes by.

ย  ย  ย

The badger walks along my garden every night now days, deer pass by, our fox comes for visits and not forgetting all the cats that live here. If they bark they’ll wake up my neighbors and both the adults and the kids need their sleep and it’s illegal to have the dogs locked up in the cottage for so many hours without contact with humans plus I would have to clean up the entire cottage every morning when i come home every morning because they do need to do their business and I can’t let them out to do it. Unfortunately employers here can treat their employees just as bad as they want to without the union doing anything when it comes to at least my union.

ย  ย  ย

If I come to work in the morning instead to work I won’t be paid and if I don’t come in the afternoon when they say I must work I will be charged (is that the right word?) with unauthorized absence and when that has happened too many times I’ll be charged with refusal to work and then they’ll fire me and I will never be able to find a new job with that hanging over me. So my last day will be on September 16, the day after I’ve had my sixtieth birthday. Anyway this is all I really can write about it now because I will still work there for a few more weeks. I must admit though that I’m feeling just fine, no worries at all and since I’m willing to take any job as long as I don’t have to work at night I’m pretty sure I’ll find a new job fairly quick, I at least hope so ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

The rain has poured down here today so for the first time in a long time I didn’t have to water anything when I came home after work ๐Ÿ™‚ The Ice cream lorry passed by but since I now need to keep an eye on my finances I never went out to buy any ice cream, it felt a bit sad but better start now than when it is too late. On the other side I now I have two more Red mulberry trees ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ To my defence I bought those before I knew about this ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ These two will stay in my cool cellar during winter and then I’ll find a place for them in the garden next spring ๐Ÿ™‚ The one I already have will be planted this weekend I think, I wonder where ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

The Rowan trees gives loads of berries this year. One can make the most delicious jelly from them even though the berries themselves are pretty tart.

This is a Jerusalem artichoke called Bianca. Normally it starts to flower at the end of September so it’s around a month early. I guess it’s because we had that long heatwave in May.

Time for a last cup of tea and then snooze in front of the tv ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

Plum pie, is that a thing?

My neighbor is working with what I think is a trimmer in their garden, could be a chain saw but the sound is to persistent for that. I guess the grass have grown very un-evenly so it’s easier to use a trimmer instead. Personally I would still have used a lawn mower, trimmers aren’t good for the back.

ย  ย  ย

I have no idea if there have been any hunters out in the forest today, We have walked in the village instead. It was cloudy but the sun broke through just as we went out on our morning walk. Both Alma and Malkolm behaved much better today. I’m not expecting my dogs to walk right beside me all the time but I really don’t want them to run around like crazy or pull the leash like insane ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I just want them to smell everything they can on the walk and not stress around. I do understand that all smells and scents are exciting but they are more or less the same we have all over this area, just other animals leaving them ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

Can You see those rocks just where the tree line is? Those are old tombs and I think they are from the Iron age.

The sun stayed for a couple of hours and then the clouds came back and for a while it looked like we would have rain falling but that never happened. I still went out to water all the new trees and bushes, no risk of over watering in sandy soil ๐Ÿ™‚ My neighbors texted me to ask if I wanted some plums, so now I have a big bucket with plums in my kitchen ๐Ÿ™‚ I really have no wish of get all those kernels out of the plums but since I can’t eat that many I’ll have to and then I’ll make some jam from them. Plum pie is that a thing? Because I’m not sure I have enough with sugar to make that much jam ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย

I’ve done the laundry but I still have to do dinner for work next week. I’m not sure what to do but I have some sausages in the fridge, bacon in the freezer, eggs in the cool cellar and then perhaps go outside to see how many potatoes I can find or just have rise nudels, that works well too. Time for a cup of tea and then start with the food.

ย  ย  ย

Have a great day!

ย  ย  ย

Walking in the village.

The first hunter arrived at the same time we were going out on our morning walk, I had already planned for us to walk in the village. There were morning mist floating in the cow pasture outside my cottage so I have to admit that I felt a bit disappointed when I saw that there wasn’t any up in the village. Still cool almost cold morning and with some sunshine. Alma managed together with Malkolm tangle the leashes to a knot already before we got out of the garden and both behaved just as bad for almost the entire walk ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

Here in Sweden You can’t just buy a license and then go out and hunt anything. The land owners own the hunting rights and then rent out the rights to hunt to hunting groups (some big land owners also allow single people or small groups of people to hunt there, it’s usually trophy hunters who rent some time on those places). The hunting groups are well organized and the same people year after year so it can be hard for younger people to actually get a chance to join those groups. Also You must go through a course to even get a license and if You can’t pass You will not get any license. Back in the days lost of hunters were drunk and could shoot anything that moved but now days they aren’t allowed to drink alcohol. It is rare that humans get shot these days.

There’s a tiny dark dot just before the trees in this photo, that’s the deer I could see today ๐Ÿ™‚

We have lots of stone age tombs around here. They aren’t sure if this is one, could also be stones gathered from the field to make it easier to grow crops in it.

This one however is one and as far as they know it isn’t looted.

The same with this one.

I remember one year when I was in my twenties and listened to the news that the custom service had stopped a van full with people with Germans. They claimed to have shot a herd of Moose, around twenty if my memory is correct. Well they didn’t have any license to hunt here in Sweden and also Moose don’t live in herd. Turns out they had shot a bunch of Reindeer. I think they shouted something about The right to public access (all mans right, a law that allows us to walk anywhere, pick berries, camp at least for 24 hours without having to ask for permission and much more as long as we don’t do it in other people’s gardens). They really should have learned more about that law ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

I did see a deer on our walk but it was far away and I also heard lots of cranes and geese in the air somewhere over the forest. Normally Nova would have been without a leash but since I knew hunters would arrive everywhere around the village and some drive like crazy, not the ones in my part of the village, they know they can meet all kinds of animals coming from our gardens at any time of the day, they drive really slow ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ so today she had to be leashed. She always show very clearly what she thinks about that ๐Ÿ™‚ Today she stopped and sniffed on the ground for unusually long every second meter or so ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

ย  ย  ย

I haven’t done much otherwise but to water the new trees and bushes. Even though the ground water is just 2,5-3 meters down (much the same in yards) sand can’t keep water but instead dries up really fast. So even though I now have a lake behind my garage (it’s usually a swamp as worst) the ground in our gardens are now bone dry. Older vegetation manages this fine but plants that hasn’t grown here for two years usually struggles until the roots have grown down to the ground water.

It is time to go downstairs to have a last cup of tea for the day, there’s nothing worth watching on tv so I’ll probably fall asleep in the recliner and wake up with an aching neck ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

Finally the Lupinus texensis looks like they do in photos, my first ones only had one or two flowers and they were also white.

The Hardy Fuchsia likes how much more sunshine it gets after I thinned the Golden rain (laburnum)

One Honey bee, one spider and one species of Hymenoptera. Could be that the tiny hymenoptera actually is after the spider while the spider is after the honey bee. The honey bee managed to escape though.

My Butterfly bush finally shows buds ๐Ÿ™‚

Warm.

I’ve found more Hazelnuts ๐Ÿ™‚

It took two days to mow the lawn, it was just too warm to do it all during one evening. Today was even warmer but with almost no sunshine. Too warm to have a walk especially for Nova. I was worried for a while that she was near her end but then suddenly she started to eat a lot again (I boil chicken and rice only for her and since there’s almost no fat in chicken I also give a hand of a special food for senior dogs) so now she’s almost back to normal again ๐Ÿ™‚

Four different colors on the five Petunias that germinated late this summer. There’s a fifth one that still not shows any flowers but it’s on its way ๐Ÿ™‚

The cattle is now walking in the pasture behind my cottage. Alma hates cattle, the first time she saw them she ran straight into the electric fence. It was of course my fault but she forgave me quickly but she has not forgiven the cattle ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Malkolm isn’t that happy about them either but he is happy to just bark towards them ๐Ÿ™‚ No herding instincts shows so he hasn’t inherited that from the brodercollie that he’s 50% of. He’s more like a English Cockerspaniel that loves to follow tracks and much like Golden retriever when it comes to how he behaves otherwise and how he looks. Very much cockerspaniel head though.

The English walnut, a better photo than I had the last time.

Aronia berries, if You love tart and very bitter berries these are the ones for You. No ammount of sugar can make them taste good but the birds and Alma loves them ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

My seed sown apple tree. Delicious apples but they are easily attacked by fungus.

Finally! Bell peppers on the way ๐Ÿ™‚

He is a very soft dog in his behavior, loves to meet new people but shows clearly that he isn’t dangerous. If I call he comes immediately even though he sometimes walks very slow ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Learns easily except for when it comes to putting on a harness ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Even Alma has started to understand that, only took three years ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Every morning when I let them out in to the garden both Alma and Malkolm runs straight to the gate, looks over it and down on the ground, when they don’t see what they think should be there Alma runs a few laps in the garden while Malkolm follows Nova. I couldn’t understand what it was they were looking for until I was going to mow the outside parts of the grass. The badger that was climbing over the fence at nights here now instead follows the fence around the garden, I can now see the typical little shallow holes in the ground they make while digging for insects and slugs ๐Ÿ™‚

It is time for a last cup of tea and then see if there’s anything worth to watch on tv.

Have a great day!
