Category: Birds.

It was at least not raining today.

Waiting for his turn at the bird feeder. The photos will be from both yesterday and today.

I haven’t done much today or yesterday to be honest, well I drove to the store in Kvรคnum and was surprised over how much it costed but I really shouldn’t have because everything is nasty expensive now days. Didn’t think I bought that much but then again I did but a quite big chunk of cheese and Wiener sausages, they do cost more than the others but it is worth it ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Also I bought a few batteries and even though they’re not especially big the price on them is so after a while I realised it wasn’t that bad after all ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I have two old dvd players, one that doesn’t open up so I can put a dvd in it and one that do open up but for some reason doesn’t put out the sound when it should so people can talk like crazy but no sound, however it does come after a while at the wrong place ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ So I had bought a new cheap one to replace them. Well something didn’t work as it should on that one either, it might be as simple as something is wrong with the HDMI cable. I’ve tried everything, even the old screen to my last computer. I was in the kitchen when I tried it but nothing happened. So a bit annoyed I ripped out the cable to the screen and would bring it back from where I fetched it. Well I didn’t rip out the right cable so the dvd player fell down on the floor in a quite high speed.

So that one doesn’t work either now ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s when I remembered my old laptops have dvd players so I brought one of them down to the living room and put in a dvd. All worked just fine until it didn’t. So since I now was a bit more annoyed I hit my fist over the laptop and everything stopped and the screen froze ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Nothing worked so since I do need this laptop when I want to write out documents for the road association meetings I shut it off and then on again. Now the dvd player works just as it should and everything else seems to be working fine as well ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

When I was in Kvรคnum I also visited my old work friends and I talked with my old apprentice about that I need to get a banked on my new phone and that’s always tricky as best. so he showed me what to do and that worked so easily that it surprised me, so now I don’t have to worry about the old phone shutting down again because now I have it on my new phone ๐Ÿ™‚ Yesterday we had muggy weather with rain on and off but today the sun shone all day long ๐Ÿ™‚ Also the sun warmed up the cottage so much that I could turn off the radiators ๐Ÿ™‚ The muggy and rainy weather will return again tomorrow though. We do need it but days get so boring when we have to stay indoors all the time, then again I can now watch my dvd’s so that’s better ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I bought all seasons of an old favourite of mine called “A town called Eureka” it has not aged bad at all ๐Ÿ™‚

It is time to give the animals their food and after that I guess I’ll watch a couple of programs on my old laptop ๐Ÿ™‚ Of course I’ll make a pot of tea before I start ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

Despite we’ve had so many really cold nights here now the moose fly still flies, very few others show themselves even when the sun shines now but moose flies just refuse to give up. I do wonder why we even have them now since we have almost no moose left around here.

I thought this was a hole in the tree but it isn’t. For some reason the place where the branch once sat has gone completely black ๐Ÿ™‚

The morning walk was nice though, despite the moose flies, and since we had a cloudy sky and on and off rain it was fairly warm. There are still some leafs hanging on the trees but every day get less colourful and a bit more dull. Some Yarrow still flowers but very few other flowers.

Most people stay in their homes as well, only the tractors are still active, farmers rarely have some time over to do other things. Even the hunters seems to have given up this year, I’m not complaining because that means I’ll be able to be in the forest without getting disturbed ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I just found the wildlife camera but so far nothing have shown in the garden. The only thing it has taken photos of is the dogs and I ๐Ÿ™‚

These are the best tasting tomatoes I’ve eaten in years but I have no name so I’ll save some seeds and sow them next year again ๐Ÿ™‚

The little cold I’ve had for some time now just refuses to give up and today I was freezing all the time so nothing much has happened here but I’ve had a lot of ice cream ๐Ÿ™‚ I think it is time for that last cup of tea for the day and after that I’ll most likely will fall asleep in front of the tv ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

Wolves, eagles, ravens and a try from someone to scam my mother.

Yesterday mornings sunrise. We didn’t see much of the sun until just before it set.

So my mother just called me because she had gotten a text message from me saying I couldn’t manage any more, meaning needed money. Well the thing is that I haven’t sent her a message because I know she most likely don’t know how to answer ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ So the one sending it wanted to scam her for money. What that person doesn’t know is that she barely knows how to make a call and wouldn’t be able to send any money until Monday when the banks open and only if she could get a ride ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I really don’t know how this works, if they can do the same to other relatives so I’ve been calling around to relatives so if they get the same message they won’t answer to it. This is at the moment a popular way to trick money out go people because who won’t help a child/ relative in need if they can? I’ve told my 89 year old mother to report it to the police even if it actually won’t help because like everywhere they have too little staff and no money to check in to it. Just imagine how much good these people could do if they tried to help people instead!

Yesterdays morning walk was a disaster ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ All of a sudden Malkolm refused to walk in front of me and Alma when we were walking on the very narrow path beside the creek. He did everything to avoid walking and it almost resulted in he almost tied my feet together with his leash. I just couldn’t understand what he was doing but after a long while we managed to continue. Normally he walks with his nose close to the ground but this time he looked straight ahead and pulled the leash unusually hard, then suddenly Alma joined him and they almost made me fall and they didn’t calm down until we were at home.

I can’t figure out what I didn’t understand him until I realised that they behaved like they did the first time we had wolves close to us ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ This time the reaction was much stronger so I guess that if I had looked around I might have seen it but I was more occupied in not getting tied up and fall ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ So I think we better avoid the creek for a while, not because I think the wolf still might be there but because it is still too fresh in his memory. So we walked out to the bog instead and today he was like he always is, nose glued to the ground and slightly pulling the leash. It was pretty cold and the temperature was quite low, -6C (21,2F). Thankfully we had sunshine and the sun is still warming up the air quite a lot.

So I have actually had the kitchen door open as long as the sun hit the southern wall. It is sad to see all the leafs falling off but when they are gone the sun hits that wall for a much longer time ๐Ÿ™‚ I could even turn off the radiators for several hours. Now it’s dark outside and the temperature will drop quite a lot again tonight.

I’m making rice porridge in the slow cooker and it’s almost time to have some ๐Ÿ™‚ So I’ll skip that last cup of tea for the day and enjoy the porridge instead with lots of raspberry jam ๐Ÿ™‚

Sometimes White tailed eagles flies over the cottage and they always have ravens chasing them.

The Raven is a rather big bird but looks pretty small beside the eagle.

Have a great day!

I wouldn’t say that they has a sale on blue cheese in the store today but when comparing the price to the smaller packages it still was pretty cheap (well that’s a lie nothing is ever cheap, especially not blue cheese ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ) so I’m now pretty sure Malkolm will love to eat breakfast again ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ย Alma eats any crap but she’ll have some blue cheese as well of course.

We had a chilly morning but since the hunters were out we couldn’t have our usual morning walk. By the time I came home again the hunters already were gone and it must have been less than an hour I was away. Anyway during that short time most of the grass had dried up so it has been a rather warm day even outside the little hollow I live in. ย I met another hunter sitting in a hunting tower and it turns out that he had fallen asleep in the warm weather ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I know him well so we had a little chat before the dogs and I continued our walk. Both he and I had had a rather bad night and we think it’s because we both have that small cold when the nose is stuffed but not much else than the normal tiredness happening.

I want to have a new project. I actually have one that has been waiting for years but I don’t have all the materials I need and I must be careful with my economy since I don’t have a job. One never knows what might happen so it’s always good to have a an emergency fund just in case and not touch that until it is absolutely needed. I’m far from needing that but buying a lot of things not absolutely needed is just stupid even if I would have fun doing it ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

As usual there’s nothing worth watching on tv so I’ll make myself a pot of tea and most likely snooze in the recliner for the rest of the night ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

This is not the monster but most likely her sibling ๐Ÿ™‚ If he/ she ever comes here I guess I’ll just let it stay ๐Ÿ™‚

Frosty night.

It smell a bit of burning dust at the moment, I had to start two radiators today because we had frost and -2C (28,4F) when we woke up this morning and it never became warmer than 13C (5534F) during the day. We’ve had lots of sunshine though so during the day it almost was too warm indoors. The kitchen door has been open until the sun moved over to the other side of the cottage.

So a bit chilly when we went out on our morning walk, not as much frost as I thought we would have but fly free so I forgave nature ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Alma walked really well today but instead she want back to that high pitched whining she’s so good at and after four years that sound cuts in to the brain like a dull knife creating a pain I just can’t stand. I doubt that she’s a fan of nature at all. She is getting better though but I really can’t stand that sound any more.

We went out to the bog and since it was as chilly as it was not a fly moved so I could pick the mushrooms without constantly make sure any of those nasty moose flies were crawling around on my head or elsewhere as well of course. I only picked the mushrooms I could find on the forest road so I’m pretty sure that if we had taken one step in between the trees I would have found plenty more. I think we might walk there again tomorrow if it is chilly enough and take that extra step and no moose flies can fly around and find us ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I mowed the lawn when we had come home, the grass was still a bit wet but it didn’t clog inside the mower. Can one hope that this was the last time I had to do it for this season? After that I brought out the compost grinder or wood chipper as I like to call it. I had all these thorny branches from the wild plum to take care of plus a lot from the other plum tree and the apple tree. I actually also have lots of grape vines. The grape vine almost never gave any grapes and to be honest, grapes are really just weeds to be honest and grows like crazy ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ So I tried to entangle all the vines but that’s an impossible job so I’ll do them another time.

I wasn’t done until rather late, around 3 pm, so after that I haven’t been doing anything to be honest ๐Ÿ™‚ I have had coffee and also tea but can say I’m just as tired as if the caffeine had run out of what ever it is that livens one up ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ The cows in the pasture on the other side of the gravel road outside my cottage has been rather loud from yesterday afternoon and still is, ย I think they removed their calfs and it’s heartbreaking to hear them call for their babies.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I’ll have a bowl with ice cream at the same time. Elsbeth is on tonight so I’ll need to go outside to check for badgers in the garden before letting the dogs outside so I can watch tv without having to do that during the program ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

The pawpaws grow in the most protected place I have in the garden and the frost had not reached them at all, not even the smaller ones were touched by it.
The tomato plants were protected and only the tops were slightly hit but the unripe fruits are still fine ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

I sort of miss those days.

I really like my birthday present I got from my eldest brother ๐Ÿ™‚

A sort of meh weather today, mostly cloudy with the sun peeking through the clouds every now and again. It has been warm though so I really shouldn’t complain. Our morning walk was rather late today just because I hoped the sun would show itself more later in the day.

Instead I drove to the big grocery store in Falkรถping to get what I need for the weekend, nothing much really but cat food was a must ๐Ÿ™‚ ย It’s not that I don’t have any at home but more because she demands the cheapest brand there is, for some reason she loves that wet food and who am I to complain that it is cheap ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I had to stop at the grocery store in Gudhem on my way home because I had two parcels waiting to be picked up. The small one was a camera I’ve bought myself as a birthday present (Nikon D5200), nothing special with that camera more that I can turn the little screen at the back in almost any direction I want. So much easier to photograph something on the ground when I don’t have to lie down to get a nice photograph. I just turn have the camera close to the ground, turn the screen so that I can see what I’m photographing and take the photo ๐Ÿ™‚

The blueberries are getting autumn colours.

The other parcel was more interesting, it was actually another camera that my eldest brother gave me as a birthday gift ๐Ÿ™‚ It is the camera shown in the first photo ๐Ÿ™‚ It is a TLR camera (for film) As You can see there are two lenses on the camera. The upper one is the one you look through and the lower one is the one taking the photo. A bit expensive as a gift but I would be an idiot if I didn’t accept it :-):-) ๐Ÿ™‚ As You can see there’s also a second lens pair beside it and that’s a telephoto lens. not too common for these old cameras to have that. It weighs a ton so It is perhaps nothing one just hang over the shoulder when going out for a walk, the shoulder would be needed to be adjusted after that ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a really nice mushroom to fry and perhaps make a stew. Or just fry them and put them on a sandwich with cheese and other things ๐Ÿ™‚
This and the next ones are even better ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll think I’ll bring a bag so I can pick them all tomorrow on our morning walk ๐Ÿ™‚
By the way, almost all photos today are taken with the “new” camera (I always buy second hand and when it is cheap ๐Ÿ™‚ ). It takes a few days until we know each other well enough so I can get photos to look like I want them to look ๐Ÿ™‚

It hasn’t rained today and the grass was surprisingly dry so after the walk I cut down those trunks from the plum trees, they really don’t look that big but they were so heavy that I almost wasn’t able to move them away ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ If I’ve been handy and known how to carve I would have had plenty to work with when they have dried up ๐Ÿ™‚

I had to take this and the next photo through the kitchen door window so they look a bit off I’m afraid.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I’ll also have an ice cream at the same time. There’s absolutely nothing to watch on tv tonight. I remember when I was a kid, You know back in the Stone Age, that Friday and Saturday night were family tv nights. When everyone in the family gathered in front of the tv, perhaps having sodas/coffee and something nice to eat. Not so any more and I sort of miss it even if it only be me and my dogs sitting there. The monster would perhaps join us but she would only sleep in the sofa anyway ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I really hope we don’t get frost next week because this is the only squash (I think it is squash, have actually no idea because I used seeds I had saved from something I harvested years ago and can’t remember what it was, could be a pumpkin as well ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ). The plants only gave male flowers until now.

Have a great day!

Now I can see the mess :-)

ย

We were supposed to have rain all day today, not much though, so I’m not the least surprised that we until 5:50 pm had sunshine all day long ๐Ÿ™‚ A strong wind has been blowing and that kept the flies away and it has been warm as well.ย

I didn’t look outside the window when we went up this morning and since I do have a rather high lilac hedge around big parts of the cottage I missed that we had morning mist. I did notice it before it evaporated though so there was still some left when we had our morning walk. A walk in a sunny, misty and cool morning is better than most things in life to be honest. Small birds were flying around everywhere, Jays argued somewhere in the tree tops and I could hear some animals trotting away from us.

The ground is drying up again so I still need to water the most vulnerable trees and perennials and I do that either just before we’re out on our walk or just after. Today I once again had to pick up a parcel, this time it was a LED light bar. The old fluorescent lamp I have down there is long gone, I’m not even sure if one can get parts to it any more. During winter I always have plant lights on but now one of those broke as well. I’ve put the new one up and almost regretted it because now I can see the mess ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll need to clean it all up before I start taking down the trees I must have indoors during winter.

I haven’t done much after that, we did take a long nap though but I’m not sure that can count as doing something ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Isn’t it strange that the phone can be quiet all day but as soon one is falling asleep the entire world wants to reach You ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ and then as soon as the nap is over the phone gets quiet again ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Mostly it’s telemarketers so I’m happy to say that they now are discussing a new law that forbids telemarketers to call privet persons unless we specifically have allowed them to ๐Ÿ™‚ This is a law I’m really looking forward to!

The Dahlias I sowed had only bright yellow flowers in the beginning.

Then some showed some orange as well.

Yesterday morning I found this bud.

ย

And today it opened up bright red ๐Ÿ™‚ Dahlias are supposed to have migraine-inducing colours according to my taste so this one I like ๐Ÿ™‚

I is time for that last cup of tea for the day. To be honest I think I could drink an entire pot without having problems to fall asleep because I’m still just as tired as I was before the nap. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

Every fifth month.

Looks like the cold weather scared som cranes to move south, usually they don’t do that until mid or late September.

Another cold night so I’m glad I covered the more sensitive plants. Yesterday we had several thunderstorms passing by and we had hail falling in at least three of them, there was even some hail left when we went out in to the garden when we had woken up.

The rest of the day has been really nice though. It was so cold on our morning walk that not a fly or anything but migrating cranes were moving in the air. Well a couple of Jays flew around screaming, most likely warning about us walking down the gravel road. The sun shone almost the entire walk and has continued to do so with the exception of a few clouds passing by. The clouds weren’t big but manage to pass the sun in a place so the sunshine couldn’t reach us. It has actually been enough warm to have the kitchen door open almost all day.

When there are like two or several individual mist clouds we’re saying that the Elves are dancing. Normally we see this in fields and usually in a ring formation. One doesn’t want to interfere in it because it usually means the end of life is here. These two however let us pass without being punished ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

It should have been open all the time if it hadn’t been because of Alma, she is now in heat. Malkolm is still chemically castrated so no such problems but he still behaves like a bewitched teenager ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Almost all female dogs that have been living with me has done that every six months, not Alma though she does it every fifth month ๐Ÿ™‚ which is at the time rather good because I was unsure for how much longer the chemicals would work on Malkolm.

Most spiderwebs had been destroyed by the heavy showers of rain and hail.

Some had however managed to build new ones.

I’ve planted most of the sown coneflowers (Echinacea) today. I really like them but for some reason I have never had one, bought or sown, surviving the winter here and that’s not because they aren’t hardy enough and the sand in the ground here should be perfect for them. The only one that I actually had for several years was the pinnate prairie coneflower (Ratibida pinnata) but those were slowly pushed away by some wild roses I used to have ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a rather nice tasting mushroom and it grows in my garden.

My bigger citrus trees, smaller this year due to frost and my four Pawpaw seedlings. Two from last year badly damaged by mice and two from this year.

The coming three days will be much like today they’re guessing but after that we’ll get clouds and rain but at least not as cold as it washes last days. The tea is waiting and perhaps I’ll have a sandwich or two ๐Ÿ™‚

Malkolm looking slightly ashamed all the time now ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

We had a rather chilly night and morning here as som of You know, 0 C (32 F) as coldest but no frost, they day itself was rather nice and warm though. if we don’t have clouds covering the sky tonight we’ll most likely have frost. That’s a bit early even for us, normally the first frost night happen around September 6 here.

This one didn’t look as if it would live much longer so I decided to check if there were any potatoes in the bucket.

I poured it out and immediately found a couple potatoes.

and the more I diggged the more I found.

So from just two small sprouts I got enough potatoes for three dinners ๐Ÿ™‚ I have two more much bigger pots waiting to be emptied.

We had a really nice morning walk though, not a single fly but the dogs got caught by a few ticks, easily removed though since they were walking around on them to find a nice and cosy spot to bite them at. Alma had that annoying whine again and Malkolm decided he had to pull the leash almost all the way so I was a bit annoyed to be honest. I did see a Roe deer though but the dogs missed it thankfully ๐Ÿ™‚

I brought out the two electric chain saws I own, both have been outside all the time but covered so no water has been able to reach them. I wanted to see if they still were working and they do but I did have to remove a lot of rust so the chain could move. So I went online to order new chains and that wasn’t easy ๐Ÿ™‚ I can find both models without any problems but no places tells me what kind of chain I should buy. They’re giving lots of examples but only say that this chain works on most models ๐Ÿ™‚ even on those that are too short or two long. I did find one that I think will fit on one of my saws and hope it does because I’ve ordered it ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

The first red toadstool for the year.

There she was and we looked at each other for a short while before the dogs and I started to walk back home again.

The Heather is in full bloom now.

My neighbours 5 year old daughter wanted to give me fresh eggs today, they had forgotten to check last afternoon so she wanted me to have two warm eggs and two cold ones since the older ones were cold today ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ So today the dogs and I had pancakes for dinner ๐Ÿ™‚ Besides this I’ve done very little today. I did water all plants I want to be sure to have next year and I’ve moved a lots of potted plants close to the cottage south heading wall so that if it is a light frost it won’t hit them. Also I have covered that five small Pawpaw seedlings, the big dahlia and all the big citrus plants (and tea bush). Also I have now placed all the Lemonquats inside the cottage until next spring.

Last year when I brought in the orchids I, after a while, realised that small red ants (piss ants as we call them, the sting is truly nasty) had a little nest in one of them. One really doesn’t want those in the house so I had to put pesticides in the pot. I thought it might also kill the plant but it is still alive and well and I think the dead ants must have worked as fertiliser ย ๐Ÿ™‚ I won’t have a last cup of anything this evening, I’ve been drinking so much coffee today that anything more caffein related will keep me up all night ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

One cool day is what we’ll get :-)

The Kankakee mallow is in bloom. It was so dry where it lived before (and several new plants are growing there now ๐Ÿ™‚ ) That instead of being 2 feet high they’re now 6 feet high ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally a cool day but the heat will come back already tomorrow. We were supposed to have lots of rain and thunder today but both missed the village. I could hear the thunder from a distance and we did get some rain to be honest, a light summer rain for about ten minutes ๐Ÿ™‚ Didn’t do much good. Now they’re guessing the heavy rain will come on Friday instead. The one who lives will see as we say over here ๐Ÿ™‚

Hard to see it since the background also is green ๐Ÿ™‚

Nothing much has happened here, it has been too warm for that ๐Ÿ™‚ Not even now when it is cooler anyone of us have any energy to do anything. I’ve watered the tree planted this year and some of the older I know grows in the driest parts of my garden. Plus the leeks and beans in the vegetable patch but that’s it. The forest doves have now moved, I could hear the parents in the trees behind the dog yard yesterday evening and now the younglings have moved too. So now I don’t have to worry that the monsterkitten will find and eat them.

It is quiet in the village, no birds are singing, no cars are driving and I can’t hear a single human or dog either. I guess the birds either think we’ll have more rain and thunder or that they all now are preparing for autumn. No more eggs laid but instead fattening up for the move south. All the other sounds I think depends on that lots of people eat their dinner now and are indoors ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Much better meadow this year ๐Ÿ™‚ Lots of different flowers growing there now and the bumblebees loves it.

It is time for something liquid, don’t think tea but most likely lots of water or milk. Also I have a bread baking in the machine and it will be ready in an hour I think. A slice or two with cheese sounds like a good idea ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t think my Chinese Catalpa has started to flower this early ever! Perhaps I’ll get viable seeds this year?

It is the same with one of my perennial sunflowers. They normally flower in late August.

Soon I’ll have plenty of strawberries ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

Just as hot today but with a cool wind blowing.

I can hear thunder in the distance but I’m not sure if it will come our way or not. I wouldn’t mind if it did. It’s just as hot here today as it was yesterday and the dogs only wants to stay outside for short moments before they give up. Today my neighbours little dog decided to take a walk by himself so I was about to go out and help searching for him but just as I was on my way out a villager had found him and called my neighbours ๐Ÿ™‚ He had just walked the same way they always walk in the village ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

We were out on our morning walk the same time as we were yesterday and it was slightly cooler today, still no flies oddly enough. I don’t miss them but they are important for all the birds so I do wonder what has happened to them. I wish this was a sign of the coming maps fly season but I’m pretty sure those nasties will be as many or more than usual ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ It was so cool and nice but like yesterday the heat arrived before we reached the cottage, the difference today is that a cool but weak wind is blowing and it helps a lot. Even if the ground still is slightly wet after the thunder day I still watered the plants I planted this spring plus I gave a little extra to those I planted last year. ย Almost all plants that were damaged by the last frost now have new leafs, all but one red mulberry tree. It’s alive and well but just refuse to grow new leafs and I have no idea why.

I’ve also started to look at seeds now for next year. Some businesses have already started with the sales but the ones selling the seeds I want haven’t ๐Ÿ™‚ They might be offering free shipment but that isn’t much. Then again if I wait for too long the seeds I want might be sold out before I can order them ๐Ÿ™‚ Damned if I do, damned if I don’t situation ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I also picked up my first potatoes today, quite a few but mostly small, those are on the other hand the best and I like frying them hole. I had some for dinner today and the rest for dinner at work during next week.

So I’ve done the dinners and also the laundry, like always but I really should have vacuumed upstairs as well but it is so hot now that I really need to put a limit to how much I should do in the heat so I skipped the vacuuming ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

The younglings have left the nest. I hope the doves comes back again next spring.

Scandinavian hot and I don’t like it.

The car thermometer said 29C (84,2F) when I was almost at home and I must say I really don’t like this heat!! As a Scandinavian I’m not used to this kind of heat but preferred our more cooler summers. I do know some people actually loves this I’m happy for them but I’m personally not especially pleased ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

The gooseberries are almost ripe.

No summer without Californian poppies. I only had a few this year unfortunately.

My plan was to mow the lawn after I had come home after work but since I don’t plan of dying because of heat stroke and/ or total dehydration I skipped it. The dogs tried to play in the garden but gave up pretty quickly and happily went indoors when I opened the door ๐Ÿ™‚ They are now sleeping beside me and not even the sound of cars or barking dogs seems to get any interest.

My little meadow is filling up with flowers now. Lots of different coloured Clarkia.

Yarrow grows there too, I better keep an eye on those because they tend to take over totally.

I’m trying to bake the second loaf of bread right now and this time I’ve adjusted the machine for a big loaf. I have however added some cheese this time, a strong cheese I rarely find in the stores. How’s this will affect it all I have no idea though. It’s around an hour left before it’s ready and I guess a few more minutes until I can slice that first piece ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll let You know how everything turnabout tomorrow.

One of my Mock oranges surprised me with a few more flowers.

The entire weekend will be this hot and how people can survive even higher temperatures is an enigma to me. The highest temperature I’v been in was 36C (96,8F) and I didn’t do a thing as soon as the temperature rose. The plants seems to like it a lot though, especially since we had all that rain the other day. I don’t think I need to water anything the coming days ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I have noticed that we have more mosquitoes now though, good for birds and bats but for me it’s just another thing to be annoyed about ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally a bean stalk not eaten by snails.

My three Pawpaw seedlings, the two closest started growing this year and the third is from last year but mice ate most of ๐Ÿ™‚ I really need to figure out how to have them during winter this year so I can plant them next spring.

We’ll have a walk early tomorrow morning while it still is a bit cooler and perhaps I can mow some of the lawn as well, my neighbours mowed the outside parts yesterday, I had a text message from them if it was ok to mow the lawn at 9 pm, it had finally cooled down so who would In have been to say no ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ย I won’t have any tea today, instead I bought a bottle of elderberry Ade so I’ll have that instead ๐Ÿ™‚

The two younglings in the Forest doves nest ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!
