Cold nights.

We’ve now had two really nice days, yesterday no wind at all and today a weak but a bit chilly one but it did cool down some while being in the sunshine for a while. Nights however have been way too cold, yesterday night it fell down to -5C (23F) and last night -3C (26,6F). I hadn’t covered the plants in the greenhouse and some of them was frost damaged. I did however cover the little apricot tree to protect the small flower buds I found and it looks like they haven’t been damaged. I’ll have to continue to cover that tree until we won’t have any frost nights, until around June sixth 🙂

I’ll have to pick up a parcel tomorrow, it arrived today but I just didn’t have the energy to go to get it today. I passed that place yesterday so I feel a bit annoyed that it didn’t arrive until today 🙂 🙂 :-). I’ll see if the grocery store has gotten any good ice cream when I’m there, I’ll be home just before it would start to melt 🙂 I really don’t need anything but one can never have too much milk or yogurt at home also a few pears would be nice to have as well.

Nothing special is happening here at the moment. We see the same roe deer every morning and cranes fly by every now and again. I can hear the nesting couples out in the fields but so far I haven’t seen them, it won’t be long before they’ll be walking in the cow pasture outside my garage though. Things starts to grow here in the cottage now so I do hope those cold nights stops now, I should really have moved out my tomato plants by now but that’ll have to wait a while longer so yay nights at least are warmer than 0C (32F), lower than that and the cold air makes its way in to it, warmer and the warmth that was there in the evening mostly stays there all night.

It is time for a pot of tea, I have some digestives waiting and also some camembert so I’ll join the both to enjoy them with the tea 🙂

Have a great day!

It’s been cold day and night here. It even snowed a little bit one day. It was cloudy, windy, and cold all week until today. The sun is brilliant but the wind is still brisk and cold. I bought a hanging pot of pansies last week which I was bringing into the porch at night to escaped the cold. I left them out last night and when I touched them this morning they seemed a little solid. Not in a crunchy way. More like rubbery. The bird bath water was frozen, too. But once the sun got up the pansies recovered. I’ll bring them in tonight just in case.

I checked out the Meehans Mint. It’s quite pricey to buy the plants over here. One supplier was 172.00 USD plus shipping for a 32 count flat. A second place wanted 15.95 USD plus shipping for 1 quart and a third wanted 14.95 USD for 2 quart but you had to pick it up at their farm. All of this just makes me want some. 😀

I love the photo of the forest with the green trees and wavy forest floor. It’ looks like a churning river.

      Hi Caryn!

At least we haven’t gotten any snow 🙂 🙂 🙂 The sun was just about to warm up here when clouds came and now is down below 32F again!!!
The pansies can take anything it seems 🙂 They’ll thaw up and just continue to be like always 🙂 All my water barrels are frozen on the surface at the moment, it was the same yesterday and those standing in shadow took a long time to thaw that ice away. We are supposed to have warm weather all day despite the clouds but now it’ll take much more time for that to happen.

I can only imagine what they would cost if we imported them 🙂 🙂 🙂 They really are beautiful though!

Your photo of the forest (10th from the top, or 9th from the bottom) with all the moss reminds me of my backyard before I had a lot of the trees cut down. All lovely and mossy with dappled sunlight, but less lumpy than the ground in your forest.

Since at least half the trees are gone now, the moss struggles because it gets too much sun. I wish the clover would come back. Moss, clover, and bugleweed would be my ideal yard, and it would never need mowing, which will be $10 more expensive this summer my yard guy says because of gas prices.

      Hi catsworking!

That would be a lovely garden to have 🙂 Thick green moss and some flowers poking up everywhere 🙂 The moss that likes sunshine isn’t as fluffy and nice and usually of some light green colour.

Yes pertolprices are much higher now and even if the war would end it’ll take lots of time to rebuild what has been destroyed. So I guess that as best the prices won’t start to sink until next year some time. Unfortunately I don’t think the war will end any time soon though but hope is the last thing leaving us I guess.
