I like it when they get it wrong the right way :-)

I do like it when the weather sites get it wrong in the right way 🙂 It was supposed to be much more cloudy and less warm today than yesterday but it turned out to be the opposite 🙂 Still there was a pretty cold wind blowing so if it reached me my blood started to freeze 🙂 But the dogs, monster and I was outside in the garden a big part of the day. My three year old neighbour continued our talk about how strong and brave she is until her grandmother came to pick her and her sister up. When asked what they were going to do the kids answered that they would eat ice cream 🙂 🙂 true but I knew they were going to do some other things as well 🙂

Lots of birds flying around and lots singing hidden in trees but no other animals was seen while we were out on our morning walk. Alma had a less good day so it was a good thing because otherwise she’ll become a bit insane for a while 🙂 She is so much better nowadays though so it’s impossible to understand how bad she was from the second she moved here 🙂 🙂

I have sown a few seeds and tried to fill back the area where the old vegetable garden was and before doing that I moved my leeks to the new place. I also dug up all the strawberry plants I had left after the winter and moved them too to the new place. Winter has not been kind to them but I hope they’ll give me more berries this year. I have two big problems with my fruit trees, the peach gets leaf curl disease and the rest tends to get mildew. So I spray them with a solution that these fungi has problems surviving, a sulphur solution. I know that they use a copper solution in the US but that’s forbidden here. Copper is too poisonous so it isn’t even in boat paint any longer. Well it usually works well but one needs to stay so one has the wind in the back.

I didn’t so there’s a slight smell of hell in my home now 🙂 🙂 🙂 It doesn’t sink sulphur but it’s sort of everywhere anyway 🙂 :-)I must admit that I’m surprised I can feel it because my nose is stuffed because it is pollen season 🙂 🙂 Well neither the monster or the dogs seems to care about it though but I better do the laundry tomorrow 🙂

I sowed my leeks way to late last year so they didn’t get the chance to grow big but since they are perennials I can have them this year instead.

It is time for that last cup of tea and I’ll have an ice cream as well. Doubt there’s anything worth watching on tv so I think I’ll read a book instead.

Have a great day!

Is that photo third from the bottom ants on a mulch pile?

      Hi catsworking!

No it is a photo of the top of an ant stack 🙂 So the darker parts are ants repairing damages done by the green woodpecker 🙂

After all the snow you had this past winter, it looks like you are enjoying some lovely spring weather, Christer. Sadly, the same is not true here in NH as we had a light dusting of snow overnight — where is Spring? Today it is damp, overcast and wuite nasty looking outdoors and no warm-up for the coming week.

      Hi Beatrice!

We did until today. Cold winds and cloudy sky makes it rather uncomfortable outside even if the wind doesn’t reach my garden. It’ll stay like this for a couple of days and if the wind just calmed down it would feel so much better so I am hoping for that 🙂 We will not get snow at least but rain and that I’m ok with but I live on the edge of where the rain will fall sit might miss us I’m afraid.

So it looks like we both only can hope for a better next week 🙂

I’ve been busy doing seedling care in the giving garden greenhouse. It seems impossible, but we already have dozens of plants outside. The weather here has been cool and wet. I was worried that some seedlings might have damping off disease, but they still are growing, even if a bit crooked from laying over.

Living the city, I hardly ever see wildlife. Well, we have coyotes, raccoons, possums, squirrels and cats (I’m sure a couple are feral!). Do birds count as wildlife? There are lots of birds in Seattle, maybe because it is so green and next to the coast. The weather hasn’t been friendly to bees and bumblebees, though. I can hardly wait for them to come out!

looking forward to your next week’s adventures!

      Hi Carol!

My seedlings need more time before I can do something with them and it will stay rather chilly the coming days so all I’ve done now is to clean up all my citrus trees by washing them in soap and hope that kills most of the pests that has survived the winter on them.

Yes birds does count as wildlife but not in this case 🙂 Always birds hanging around especially in cities 🙂 Your wildlife sounds so exotic to me 🙂 skunks and raccoons 🙂 well we might soon have raccoons here too, they once escaped from fur farms in Germany and down there they are impossible to get rid of any more, they have since spread to the countries around Germany so there are plenty in Denmark and now we’ve captured some on wildlife cameras here in Sweden too. I do think they’re cute but we really shouldn’t have them here at all.

I’ve seen two butterflies now and my neighbours had a big bumblebee visiting them in their greenhouse the other day. I do have some spring bulbs in bloom otherwise it wouldn’t have anything to eat at all.
