Drama in the Olympics :-)

Well I have tried to change the colours the text is in when someone commenting here but it turns out to be more tricky than I thought it would be 🙂 🙂 🙂 With the colours here now You can at least see what You are writing 🙂 🙂 I’ll check it more later when I’m less irritated about colours in the blog 🙂 🙂 🙂

It’s easy to see from where the wind has been blowing 🙂

It was -20C (-4F) when I woke up this morning and I didn’t like it even if it actually was a really beautiful morning here. A few clouds at the mountains but otherwise a blue sky. We did eventually have our morning walk because when the sun finally rose up this awfully cold morning it actually gave away heat 🙂 The snow on the south heading part of the roof is now gone and I did hear dripping later in the day. Still it never really came close to being warm outside the sunshine.

Nothing much else besides the morning walk has happened here. The Canadian curling team now have an official warning, actually not about the cheating but the foul language they use when the Swedish team told them to stop. They will also have two judges checking them every game they’ll play in the olympics, not today though because they continued to cheat and they once again cheated their way through the game. Didn’t help them though, Switzerland won anyway 🙂 I think this is the most drama I’ve ever experienced while watching curling 🙂 🙂 🙂

Well it was dramatic on the women relay in cross country skiing. One of our women fell twice in the fluffy snow and the second time she did it she almost made somersault, just almost because she landed on her face and she also broke her ski, still they managed to take the silver medal after the Norwegian women. To be honest everyone assure we would win but the way the Norwegians skied today I’m not so sure because they skied really good. Normally I always fall asleep when they show cross country skiing on tv but the drama kept me awake for once.

It is tome for that last cup of tea and I’ll also have a bowl of yogurt with sliced banana and some cinnamon sprinkled over it, a nice way to end the eating for the day 🙂

Have a great day!

I never watch the Olympics or the Super Bowl because I have no interest in sports in general. But every morning I do check a little table in the newspaper listing the medals each country is winning. Today, Norway is leading with 20 total, 10 gold. Trump must be eating his heart out to see all that gold going to Norway, not to his Oval Office!

I have a bias toward Norway because I once had a Norwegian friend. He was working at sea and I sent him a T-shirt I found for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, which he wore whenever he could watch the games after work.

I did go on YouTube to peek at an American skater who fell twice during his routine when they thought he’d easily win gold. It was on the front page of the paper because Virginia claims him, but I don’t know if he was born here. Ilia Malinin.

      Hi catsworking!

Yes poor trump 🙂 🙂 🙂 Well he’ll probably threaten to take Greenland again since the Norwegians are so nasty 🙂 🙂 🙂

Depending on sport we always root for our nordic neighbours if we can’t win any medals but since Norway win anything with skies we then root for any other nordic country 🙂 🙂 🙂 So ice hockey for instance it’s Finland, football (soccer) Denmark and so on 🙂

I thought it was enough to read about it, the poor guy must have a tough time now. They give it all for four years and when it is time they fail badly, just like our male cross country skiers today.

I read about one of your cross country skiers. She fell on her face and broke her ski. Yes, it must be devastating to train for 4 years and then have some horrible thing happen during the crucial moment.

I see in this morning’s paper that Norway now has 26 medals and is still in the lead.

      Hi catsworking!

Amazingly enough she came out of it without any injuries! and when the Swedish team tried to give her a new ski that person also fell in the snow face first 🙂 🙂 🙂

Norways is always in the lead and if they would have been allowed to have a second team they would just simply be on second place after themselves 🙂 🙂 🙂

Today’s paper says Norway now has 31 medals, I think 12 gold. They are leaving the other countries in the dust. But winter sports are their culture. I noticed Denmark wasn’t on the list. Do they have anybody at the Olympics?

Yesterday I happened to catch a bit of curling. It looked like a combination of bowling (push the rock down the alley), croquet (knock the other rock out of the circle), and archery (get the rock in the middle of the circle?). And what’s with the 2 guys running after the rock with sticks, though not allowed to touch it? One looked like he was trying to smooth the ice along the way, but what was the point of the other guy?

As you can see, I don’t understand curling at all. But it seems a sport I could like because it’s quick. That’s why my two favorite sports are sumo and horse racing. Well, racing for the horses themselves, who get it over with in two minutes or less. I’d be just as happy if horses raced without jockeys.

For all the betting and predictions based on track conditions, how the horses trained, which races they ran before, etc., it’s always entirely up to the horses’ mood. I love watching them walk to the starting gate, because that’s where you might get a hint of how they’re feeling. And then when one nobody expected suddenly becomes a rocket in the final stretch, flies past the favorite, and wins the race, that’s just horses showing their great sense of humor. They probably planned it all out that morning in the stable.

      Hi catsworking!

You aren’t that far away about curling, he more of the closest stones to the middle the more points they get also it is great that if one doesn’t have the last stone and still manages to have more stones closer to the middle than the opponent it’s even better 🙂 The sweeping warms up the ice so that the stone slides over the ice more easy. Sometime they stone needs even more help to go where it is supposed to go that they need both persons to sweep the ice.
I’m not sure I would call it quick though each team has eight stones to push and then they tend to discuss each push and the implications of what happens if the stone goes wrong or right 🙂 That is great though because one can do a lot without it happens to much things while one is away 🙂

My favourite sport is Biathlon, cross country skiing and shooting with a rifle. A bit odd since I’m a conscientious objector and rather sleep than looking at cross country skiing 🙂 🙂 🙂 I am however not a big horse fan in any way 🙂 I do like the five big horses my neighbour has. They really don’t care if Alma behaves like an idiot, they always comes to greet me anyway 🙂
