Well it is winter.

A rather grey and dull day today but thankfully just a weak wind blowing from east. I can’t remember when the wind came from east for this long in my life. Usually we get western winds from the ocean here and that’s when I don’t notice them at all here in the garden 🙂 They say that we actually are going to get a low pressure from west the coming days and that will most likely mean more snow but not especially less cold weather. Well it would be nice for a change no matter what.

We only had a short walk in the morning so most, if not all, photos comes from yesterday. We could hear some animals in the forest but not see any on our walk. I did however see some tracks outside my gate and all the way up to my mailbox today though. One of them I’m sure comes from the deer that slept in my garden the other day, the other ones were a bit worrying because I think they came from wild hogs. One sow and a couple of piglets.

I really don’t want them that close and I hope the fence and rather thick Lilac hedge will keep them away. It will be so much easier for them to go in to the rest of my neighbours homes since they only have thin hedges and some not even that 🙂 Plus even though I doubt they fear my dogs other places don’t have dogs and it should be more convenient for them to go in there and dig up their gardens instead 🙂 🙂 🙂 I did put up my wildlife camera at my garage to see if I can get any photos of them if they would pass here again. My guess is that I most likely will see cats and perhaps a fox passing by 🙂

I’ve been out checking for seeds on our eBay called Tradera. I do have plenty as it is but I was thinking of trees and bushes that gives berries to have in the garden. I have found seeds from a Mahonia and since they cost a lot as potted plants I bought them. When I had I found out that they might become forbidden in Europe because they are becoming close to invasive. Well not up here in the north but further down in Europe. Still if they’ll be forbidden there it automatically makes them forbidden here too. I found a few other seeds as well and can tell You about it if the seeds germinate.

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and a sandwich I think. Nothing from the olympics I want to watch tonight and I doubt there’ll be anything else I want to watch, so it might be an early night today.

Have a great day!

I see you have switched to a new WordPress template. Was it difficult? Did it successfully transfer all of your previous posts to the new format as well? That’s what I worry about in updating the appearance of my blog, that I will lose all posts from before, or they will be so screwed up I’ll have to delete them.

      Hi catsworking!

No it is really easy. Just go to appearance, klick on Themes and if You find anything You like just check it out and change it. I have never lost anything and if You have more than one blog the other ones are not affected. All old posts will look like the new theme though.

This is weird. I like photos on black background so this part is good. The comment part is not so much. On Firefox it’s dark grey on pale grey which is okay but I can’t comment on Firefox because WordPress won’t accept my FaceBook login. On Safari, I can comment but I can’t read what I’m typing because the font is very light grey on a very light grey background. 😀

The polar sink or whatever it’s called has gone for the time being. No more arctic temperatures made even more painful by the windchill factor. I think I haven’t been for a decent walk since sometime in December. Today it is above freezing with just a tiny breeze. Practically a beach day. 😀

The other day there were four strange animal trails across my whole property. They were either coyotes or deer. I couldn’t decide because they came from the coyote direction and two of them went to the coyote meeting place in my neighbor’s yard. The other two went across my side yard and out onto the street. I think I need a trail camera now, too.

      Hi Caryn!

I’ve tried to change the colour of the text but so far no luck. I’ll see what I can do about it, I should be able to change it because I’ve changed text colours before in older blogs.

I’m so tired of it now, last night it fell down to -4F and it will most likely do so again tonight. The sun gives away some heat now though, the snow on the south facing roof is now all gone and I could hear dripping today 🙂

Lots of fox tracks here and deer and pigs. A few days ago I thought I could see paw prints from a wolf but it turned out to be an old one from Alma 🙂 🙂 She spreads her toes like wolves do when walking in the snow 🙂 🙂
Yes those cameras ar fun to have even though the only thing they’ve caught so far is a cat 🙂

Strangely I haven’t been able to comment for the last few days, and the suddenly, bingo!

Hopefully no wild hogs! Also hopefully your seeds germinate!

      Hi Carol!

WordPress works in mysterious ways 🙂 🙂

So far only one cat and I think You can guess which one 🙂

When your blog background was black, my comment was gray on gray as well and I didn’t like it much because it’s hard to read, but I figured I’d get used to it. I was using Firefox browser too. I like this new beige background much better because your text and my comment is black and the contrast is good.

As we age, contrast becomes more important. I see advertising sometimes where some genius puts yellow type on a white background, and I think, “They must be 20 years old with perfect eyesight,” because to anyone else, it’s unreadable.

I haven’t looked for a new template for my blog in a while, so I’ll have to check it out. I have two blogs, but one is terribly neglected and needs updating, because it has pages about my freelance business, but I’m mostly retired now.

      Hi catsworking!

I have to say it wasn’t that much better in Safari and I do wonder how they were thinking when only giving grey on grey colours 🙂 🙂 🙂 So I’ll have it like it is now until I can figure out how to change the text colour.

Yes why on earth do they use yellow on white 🙂 🙂 🙂 No one, even with perfect eye can read that!

I used to have another blog back when I had my garden center but that’s so long ago that there’s nothing left.

I would suggest you leave the text black on any light background. That’s easiest for everybody to read. In fact, I like your template a lot, and it would work with my blog, though I have some widgets going down the side right now which you don’t have, like an archive and visitor count. I’ll have to play with it.

This isn’t blog-related, but readability in general: One other thing people started doing here when I was still working an office job was having their business cards printed in microscopic type. The card looked like it had a splotch on it and you needed a magnifying glass to read it.

I suppose a white card printed in yellow type using a 2-point font was considered the height of graphic design brilliance!

      Hi catsworking!

Yes and if it is on a dark background the text should be light, not really white but sort of off white.

I haven’t had any widgets for years, I used to have some but for some reason it never happened when I changed to WP. It was fun to be able to see from where people visited my blog.

I rarely saw any business cards where I worked, not that kind of a job but that would have driven me insane 🙂 🙂 🙂

They rarely think/care about people actually seeing anything, just as long as it is the latest fad 🙂 🙂 🙂
