We might get sunshine tomorrow :-)

 

 

I was so tired when. I woke up this morning around 5 am that after the dogs had been outside I went back to the bed and slept for two more hours, that’s very unusual for me. Normally I just gets up and starts with the food for us all. I would have guessed that I had a cold but no it doesn’t feel like that at all. Perhaps I had nice dreams and wanted to continue with them but I almost never remember what I’ve been dreaming about so I don’t know 🙂

WordPress is acting weird lately, I can only write and post something if I do it in edit mode 🙂 🙂 Have no clue to why but this works as well. So it has continued to snow all night and day and with big flakes but looking at the ground I’ll say we might have gotten two fifths of an inch as most. Almost no wind so the snow hasn’t drifted away with the gusts. There were lots of tracks from different animals and I could see that we’ve had Roe deers passing by the cottage. Also the wild hogs have been almost everywhere but thankfully not close to our homes.

cars have been passing my cottage after it has become dark so I guess there might be hunters out in the forest tonight and when they are here at nights it’s because of wild hogs.  Alma and Malkolm don’t like them so if some are gone our walks will be easier I think. Malkolm have been without the cone of shame for a couple of hours and has behaved really well 🙂 They said that he isn’t allowed to clean himself  ten to twelve days after the surgery but surely the wound should be healed enough after a week? Can’t remember they ever was that strict with all the other dogs I’ve had here.

We might actually have some sunshine both tomorrow and on Tuesday! After that the stronger winds will come back and of course they won’t come from south but north to east. Always nasty winds when they are from east or northeast  except during the summer half year because then they come from the continent where summers can be nasty hot and then I’ll complain about them again 🙂 It is time for that last cup of tea but I’ve had enough to eat today so it’ll just be the tea 🙂

    The latest from Virginia: It was a little freezing rain when I went to bed Sunday night, which they said would cause massive power outages. So, I was thankful to wake up today to hear the heat pump running, meaning the power stayed on.

    It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a weather forecast as off base as all last week predicting the major storm to bury and plunge us into days of cold and darkness.

    There’s maybe 1-2″ of crusty snow/sleet. The roads are icy from the freezing rain. The trees are clean. There’s no wind.

    On TV, all the weather people act like they’ve totally forgotten all of what they got so wrong.

    This morning’s paper said about 350 people lost power. They should get it back quickly, because hundreds of crews are standing ready with nothing else to do.

    But to add insult to injury, the weatherman this morning had the nerve to start hinting at “maybe” more snow NEXT weekend. It’s like they can’t resist keeping us worried and afraid.

    It will be cold all week (in the single digits, teens and 20sF), so maybe no melting.

    I dread going out to clear off the cars. My old Saturn’s doors have frozen shut before, and I assume they are now until some sun hits them. It’s good that I have my late mother’s Hyundai as well, because I think those doors will be OK.

    But the roads are icy, so I’m not going anywhere soon. We have everything we need for a while. I’ve only heard one car drive by, and it was struggling.

      If it hasn’t changed since this I’m glad that it wasn’t as bad as they’d guessed it to be 🙂

      Of course they won’t acknowledge how bad they got it wrong 🙂 🙂 🙂 I did read that it was pretty bad at other places.
      They live on fear 🙂 🙂 as if things weren’t bad enough as it is 🙂

      So far I’ve been able to open the doors on my cars but I bought a kind of silicone liquid that if I have those problems I’ll just put it on all door frames and that problem goes away and it actually works 🙂 I used it on my old Peugeot after it froze once and never had to do it again 🙂

      Thankfully our roads are good, I had to drive to the garage with my car today and no ice anywhere on the roads 🙂

        This is my fifth day stuck at home because the road is still covered with ice in front of my house. A plow came through, but it only dropped sand or salt and didn’t do any plowing. I hear wheels spinning as a few vehicles drive by.

        The people going out drive mostly SUVs and trucks, drive fast and think they can never skid, so they’re more dangerous than slippery roads.

        I got the cars cleared off Tuesday. Snow was under a thick layer of ice that fell off in huge chunks. Today I need to push the chunks away from the cars because we are getting more snow over the weekend (they won’t say how much yet), and I don’t want the chunks sitting in front of the cars to get any bigger.

        Sub-freezing temperatures (which you seem to have all the time) are the big problem here. Nothing is melting, even with sunny days. But thankfully, the power is staying on.

        I fell flat on my back Tuesday dragging the trash bin to the curb (not that the trash has been collected yet – we haven’t had mail for 3 days, either) and I didn’t even crack the ice. My legs are still sore from the fall. I must have tensed them up going down.

        As soon as I can get out, I will look for that silicone stuff to put on the car door frames. I haven’t even tried to open any of the doors.

        They say this frigid weather should last well into next week. We haven’t had weather like this in decades.

        That’s something I’ve always wondered why they do, put out salt or sand but not plow the road first?? It rarely happens here to be honest but when it does I always wonder what genius thought that would be a good idea 🙂 🙂 🙂

        I do the same, clear as much as possible before the next snow arrives. It feels like double the work but makes it so much easier in the long run. The plow guy in this village usually comes back to remove the snow in front of my car though, he’s the best!

        We’ve gotten used to shorter but perhaps more intense winters here so when it’s like in the olden days it’s horrible and yes the sun is too weak to melt anything at all 🙂 🙂

        I guess we’ll have to be happy as long as we don’t break anything when falling. I’ve managed to stay on my feet so far and I can mostly thank my studded boots for that. I might slide some on the ice but those sharp studs always get a grip before I fall. I do hope the pain leaves You quickly!

        We’ll keep our cold weather for at least ten more days they’re guessing. The only good thing with this cold weather is that the ground freeze a bit down and that kills a lot of ticks 🙂
