Windy and cold and the cone of shame.

Most of the snow is gone but there are a few places it still hangs around, even though it is mostly ice now.

Nasty and cold winds from east but oddly enough not that cold, just below 0C (32F) during the day. Temperatures will drop during the night though. I can say that our morning walk was anything but nice, there was just one place in the forest where the wind didn’t reach us.

I now know that it was the microwave that made the fuse pop because it happened again when I wanted to re-heat the meat sauce today. This time I had fuses though, 21 of them 🙂 🙂 So I decided to put the microwave in the wood shed until I can throw it away. It was old, most likely over 25 years old actually so I wasn’t surprised that it happened. I did not remember how heavy it was though 🙂  When I removed it I found lots of things that had fallen down behind it 🙂 I now have stamps for the rest of my life and also envelopes 🙂 🙂 I also found seed packages that I had forgotten that I once bought. A few more tomato varieties, nasturtium seeds, something I’d picked myself, wild geranium seeds and something I think must be for succulents. The name of the one selling them to me sort of rings a bell about succulents. It’ll be exiting to see if they’ll germinate one day 🙂 🙂 🙂

Malkolm managed to destroy the cone of shame and I duct taped it so it would hold together but then I remembered that I have some old ones that were made to hold together better, slightly different material I think plus it is reinforced all the way round. Thew biggest one is perhaps a bit small but he can breathe so it’ll have to do 🙂 He mostly behaves when he doesn’t wear it but every now and again he wants to clean himself and I fully understand that but it is still not allowed. He behaves as usual so the painkillers work well and he eats anything hidden in cheese 🙂

I think I’ll skip that last cup of tea for the day and instead I’ll have hot cocoa, it fits better on a cold and windy day I think.

    Christer, good riddance to that old microwave which has a good life span. What a bonus finding all those stamps, envelopes and seeds that had fallen behind it! Hope that Malkom will be able to forgo the cone of shame soon.

      Hi Beatrice!

      It was time to retire it 🙂 I have to say though that it worked for much longer than I thought it ever would.

      I have been wondering where all those things had gone 🙂 🙂 🙂

      They said ten to twelve days but I think when a week has passed it should be enough of cone wearing. All stitches are also on the inside iff the skin so when the surface has healed it should be ok to remove the cone for good.

      It’ll be fun to see if the pink dandelions will germinate! It isn’t especially hardy and the seeds are well over ten years old but I hope at least one seed will, they are rather pretty 🙂

    I don’t know how old my microwave is, but it could be as old as yours. Now you have me worried.

    I once had a big black cat named Yul who had to have his tail amputated (another story). He had to wear a cone while his stitches healed, but he could get around it and still reach himself. So, I put duct tape around it to extend the width. It was amazing how he adjusted his leaps accordingly so he could still get up on the counter.

    When the vet took the cone back, he said he’d never seen such a thing and wished he had a museum to put it in. It looked like a satellite dish.

      They always do their best to reach 🙂 🙂 🙂 Malkolm doesn’t seem to care that much though, as long as the cone is there he won’t bother to reach the wound thankfully.

      Some vets here do show what things they’ve removed surgically and sometimes I wonder what the dogs/ cats was thinking it was edible 🙂 🙂 🙂 I’ve been lucky so far but my first dog suddenly started to poop out pearls after eating a pearl necklace 🙂 🙂 and one ate a needle and thread but it worked out well after she had eaten several jars of asparagus 🙂 🙂 🙂 The fibres in the asparagus just placed itself around the needle so there was no sharp things sticking out at all!

        WoW! That was lucky with the needle. My cat Fred once ate a long piece of dental floss and pooped it out a week later, tangled but still in one piece.

        My cat Tony ate a long piece of elastic band when he was a kitten and now he’s 6 and it still hasn’t come out.

        I called the vet as soon as I noticed it, a few minutes after and he said not to worry but to feed her asparagus and it will pass through without any problems 🙂

        I do wonder what happened to that piece of elastic band 🙂 🙂
