Cold again but at least sunny.

I had to go to the supermarket this morning because since Malkolm will be neutered tomorrow I don’t want to leave him until he has healed properly. I’m not the least worried he would do anything to the area (I guess there won’t be any stitches that he can try and remove though) but I’m worried Alma won’t leave him alone 🙂 🙂 🙂

So I made sure to have enough at home to last until at least Sunday and I also went in to the big pet store beside the supermarket to buy dog shampoo. (I also bought some fish while I was there, Siamese algea eater) . He was not happy when he had to get a shower I can tell You that 🙂 I had top carry him in to the shower but he didn’t try to escape when he finally was there. He looked like I was about to ritually slaughter him 🙂 🙂 🙂 He wasn’t dirty at allot be honest but it had to be done. I thought dog shampoos smelled better, this one smelled like a bad dish washing detergent 🙂 🙂 🙂

We had a nice walk in the sunshine and even though it actually was quite cold it still didn’t feel that bad, I could even open up my winter jacket. There was no wind what so ever so we have even spent a long time in the garden today. I couldn’t do anything more than to move a pot where I had sowed Alpine aster in to the green house. I did try and move another pot but it had already frozen to the ground 🙂 🙂 🙂

I also baked some French rolls and used the millet flour instead of the Sorghum flour I usually have. They rose so nicely in the beginning but the closer it came to put them in the oven the flatter they became 🙂 🙂 I can still cut them in half like a roll though 🙂 The taste did differ a bit but the taste of nuts sort of vanished this time. So not bad at all but I’ll try something else the next time. I didn’t buy a lot of millet flour because it was anything but cheap but it is fun to try it 🙂

It is time for that last cup of tea and I’ll have another one of those rolls as well. Tonight they show our Oscar gala, Guldbagge galan (The Golden Beatle award). I haven’t seen any of the nominated films but they say that this was a good year for Swedish films.

Have a great day!

I was hoping for a photo of Malcolm in the shower! I rarely give my dogs a shower but when I do, I just put on a bathing suit and get in there with them. Even if they don’t squirm or try to escape they still shake and scatter water everywhere. So instead of trying to stay dry while giving them a shower, which was impossible, putting on a bathing suit just makes sense! 🙂

      Hi clralexva!

Well just giving him the shower was hard enough 🙂 I can tell You he wasn’t happy about it 🙂
I took a shower just after he was done 🙂 🙂 🙂 I have to say though that his fur dried up really well with just a towel though, not much water left him when he started to shake his body.

Have you tried chickpea flour ? It’s gluten free and I often mix it with wheat flour in cake recipes. Although I totally failed a gingerbread last month, because I used only chickpea flour and it was too compact and thick, I couldn’t eat it. You need to adjust the quantity of liquid I guess, but I like the taste anyway.

      Hi Poppy!

No I haven’t! Didn’t even know that would work in a bread 🙂 I’l buy that next time I’ll go to the store 🙂

Well I failed badly with my gingerbreads as well, they were edible but stone hard 🙂 🙂 🙂
      Thanks for the tip!

Sarah looks like she’s the terror of the neighborhood, and I see she has a new collar.

They are predicting that we could get 6-12″ of snow here in Virginia on Sunday. If it goes to 12″, that will be more than we have gotten in many years and people will go crazy. The schools will be closed for at least a week.

I need to shop for groceries, and I’m going out this morning to stock up before people start buying everything in sight, if they haven’t already.

      Hi. catsworking!

I actually don’t know if she is but she tries to avoid other humans and animals except for the family at the next door farm I think. Yes she finally has a new collar and I hope it stays on for a bit longer this time 🙂 🙂

They say we might get slightly more than a dusting each day for a couple of days and I guess I can take that 🙂

I hope You get what You want and need, we usually take it more easy and plenty of people have started to have food at home for at least a week, we started to do that when Russia attacked Ukraine. Also lots of us have kerosene heaters just in case and I have my wood stove. It is nice to be able to have at least warm coffee or tea in the morning 🙂

My house is 100% electric, so I’m screwed if the power goes out. I do have a fireplace and exactly one log to burn in it, but I haven’t used it for many years. I think the chimney is OK, but I’d be afraid it might fill the house with smoke, then I’d have to open all the windows and really freeze.

But I live less than 2 miles from a hospital, and I think I might be on the same electrical grid because since the hospital was built, I lose power very seldom, and then only for an hour or so.

Now they are saying maybe 8-12″ of snow, starting Saturday night. This is a HUGE deal for this city. Now I’m glad I kept two of my late father’s snow shovels. One is huge and will be just what I need to clear out around the cars.

The grocery store was busy, but not crazy, and there was plenty of everything. I usually shop for several weeks at a time, so what I always run out of first is produce and dairy, which won’t keep that long. But now I’m good. I even bought some green bananas that I feared were too green, but I put them in a sunny window all afternoon and now they are ripe enough to eat.

It is rare with power breaks here as well but it’s good to have something extra. My chimney is so thick it takes a day to warm it up 🙂 but at least I know nothing bad will happen if I start a fire in the stove 🙂 🙂

Yes it’s always produce and dairy one need to buy often, if it hadn’t been for those I would barely leave my home at all 🙂 🙂 🙂

Things have taken a turn for the worse in the Central Virginia weather forecast. This morning they are not even saying how many inches of snow, but instead that snow is going to turn to sleet and freezing rain, which is what weighs everything down so trees start falling and power goes out. It’s supposed to start as snow Saturday night and turn into the mess on Sunday.

The news showed stores with empty shelves. They say gas stations have long lines. People are stocking up on EVERYTHING like they think a nuclear war is coming. I’m glad I got my shopping done early, and I happened to fill my cars with gas last week, so they’re good.

We haven’t had a bad snow or ice storm in some years, so everyone is freaking out.

But Richmond for some reason is always right on the edge of these dire weather forecasts, so it could go heavy either way, snow or ice. And maybe not nearly as much as predicted.

      Hi catsworking!

That doesn’t sound good at all and I’m glad You managed to get to the store early on so You got what You needed!

The weather sites are divided about snow falling once again. We did get a dusting last night and might get one tonight as well but the wind is so strong now that I doubt it’ll be noticeable tomorrow.
I do hope You won’t get that bad weather!
