One more day before it gets cold again, yay

Mostly grey and dull today, the sunrise that almost happened was really beautiful for a few seconds and then it was gone behind the clouds. I didn’t mind that much because it was at least over 0C (32F). We actually almost saw the sun one more time when there was a rip in the cloud cover.

Yesterday.
Today.
Lots of water yesterday
but less today.

I had to pick up a parcel today, the oat, sorghum and millet flour I ordered online this week since they didn’t order anything to the supermarket had arrived. I actually got the text message on Thursday but decided I could let it be until today. My phone has this thing of if I touch the screen in the wrong way (which I to be honest still doesn’t know how that works) the phone then put that message in the archives. I didn’t even know there was an archive for text messages. I had apparently done that with this message.

Worse in the forest though.

So there I stood in the store and couldn’t for my life remember what shipping company had been used πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Thankfully no one else was there and the store owner did what she could to find the parcel anyway. It took well over 15 minutes but then she found it, it stood just by the door πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I have now figured out how to find archived messages but I still need to know who the sender is, otherwise it’ll be gone for ever it seems πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So I tried to use millet for the first time and I failed something spectacular πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I found a recipe online, did exactly as it said but the dough was less thick that what it would be for a sponge cake?? I think, but it didn’t say so in the recipe, that this bread should have been thin but wide. I poured it in to a normal bread tin and that was so wrong. It collapsed already when I put it in the oven πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It is edible though and millet has a sort of nut taste to it. I’ll either do the bread in a lower tin next time or I’ll find another recipe πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I do think it’ll be really great to have now when I’ll have rice pasta and spaghetti sauce after I’m done here.

So I’ll wait with that last cup of tea for the day, I can have some after dinner instead. lots of snow has now melted away and there’s one more day before the colder weather arrives again so I hope most of what is left will melt away before it gets cold again.

Have a great day!

Winter is a great time to experiment with bread recipes. Looks like you do gluten free baking?

      Hi Goodport!

Yes I do. After 59 years with a bad stomach a nurse said to me: why don’t you try to not eat wheat, rye or barley so I did and all problems went away πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

While I know how glad you are when the snow is finally melting, Christer, we had a lovely day of snow yesterday, about 3 inches fell on Saturday. Another 3 inches is predicted overnight today, Sunday. Since, we have no where to go and I spent the day putting away the Christmas decorations, it was beautiful to watch the falling snow β„οΈβ˜ƒοΈ. Hope that the job interview goes well and sure you will post about the results. Getting both dogs neutered will be an expense for sure.

      Hi Beatrice!

Even I can see that it is beautiful but I just don’t like to live whit that garbage πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I rather see it in films or photos πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It did feel good after leaving so I have high hopes and yes of course I will πŸ™‚

Yes it costs a small fortune.

Sitting here in Virginia with the sky as gray as Sweden’s. Sometimes your photos remind of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”

They say we could get 1-2″ of snow this afternoon, but I will be surprised if we do. It rained a bit this morning. Most of the week past, it was so warm I could wear T-shirts. They say any snow shouldn’t stick to the roads.

Like your other reader, it’s a good day to put away Christmas decorations. I still have the stockings hanging on the chimney, still full of goodies for the cats. I like to surprise them when they least expect it.

      Hi catsworking!

I haven’t seen that film so I can’t say much but I guess it is filmed here in Sweden?

I doubt it would if it has been that warm πŸ™‚ I wouldn’t mind having some t-shirt weather right now because the temperature is dropping low already now in the evening.

We usually don’t have stockings here, I do have a couple I’ve gotten from an old blog friend in the US but really have no place to hang them.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo began as a series of novels by Steig Larsson, but then he died and other writers continued the series. Several movies were made of the books in Swedish and American versions. I have loved all of them. The heroine is a young computer hacker named Lisbeth Salander whose mission is to hurt men who hurt women because she was terribly abused. She is an epic character, like Scarlett O’Hara in β€œGone with the Wind.”

I know about the books and what they are about (impossible not to since they started to make movies πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ) but I haven’t read any of the books or seen any of the films. I know they’re good though.

Years ago, a friend of mine was reading the first three “Dragon Tattoo” books and recommended them to, but they were not my usual kind of reading at all. However, I checked out the first book and got hooked on Lisbeth Salander.

I liked the Swedish movies the best, but the American versions were also good.

In this time where the bad guys seem to always win and rub their infinite power in our faces (at least in the U.S. and Russia), I found it cathartic to read stories of this amazing woman catching them and punishing them as they deserve to be.

Perhaps it’s time for me to check them out πŸ™‚ I totally get that feeling, bad guys always win it seems.

If there’s one thing the United States needs, it’s a Lisbeth Salander. I would love to see her do battle with Elon Musk’s hacker punks who got into all the government databases and stole our personal information. Lisbeth would have stopped them in their tracks, and punished them. And Elon.

        Too bad she’s not real.

Unfortunately all those hackers out there always chose the bad guys. Just imagine how much good things they could do if they just wanted to!
